Thanks onelittle, it's all very confusing!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 25/03/2013 16:12

always it is more reassuring if you put it that way. But it is considered high risk and CVS/amnio is recommended if you have a risk of 1 in 250 Sad

It's 1 in 250 iirc. I shall google now.

Diege · 25/03/2013 16:24

I think 'high risk' is now classed as 1 in 150 as the cut off, at least in the NHS? (part of my job involves work in antenatal screening). So if you got a screening or age-relating risk of 1 in 151 that would be 'screen negative' (ie, low risk), if 1 in 149 then 'screen positive' (ie. high risk). In the research I was involved with, we found that people view the risk 'number' so differently - for one person 1 in 50 was considered 'quite good' as they wouldn't, to quote, put money on a horse with those odds, whereas another woman wanted an amnio after getting a reading of 1 in 1200. Some researchers propose just giving a high or low result and not giving the figure, but that's still be debated (possibly good for worriers like me!).

SpanishLady · 25/03/2013 16:26

Afternoon all - lovely to see some more new 'faces' and that everyone is pretty much doing ok (very glad to see you back Vix)

I am frankly struggling - am wiped out by 7 each night and have constant Nausea - Im eating as healthly and 'normally' as possible but if I dont eat something about every 2 hours I feel light headed and get a horrible mix of nausea and aches.

I am actually happy about this as it reassures me but obviously considering with my son I had this for 25 weeks the idea of it going on for another 17 weeks is somewhat depressing!

My son woke me up at 3 this morning (little monster then fell straight back to sleep) and I got a nice bout of sickness and poor DH had to go and make me toast. We are also in the midst of potty training (did want to hold for for some warm weather but DS is keen as mince to use a potty so felt we had to go with it) - his poo however is still like little cats so has been lovely cleaning up after that!

I have my booking in appointment on 10 April (will be 9 +6!) so have a date to focus on and also assuming I have the 12 week scan in week 12-13 wont have much longer after that to wait to see if there is a baby this time.

Im another oldie (am 38)- will be a bit nerve wracking to get the nuchal etc results and see the difference from last time (with son when I was aged 36 my result was 1 in 6,000)

very excited to see December thread up and running too!

Saundy · 25/03/2013 16:29

OneLittle you're not the only one craving rubbish but I have the most frustrating craving ever - Superwhip!!! I don't know if anyone remembers it but I'm finding myself randomly thinking about it 24/7. The frustrating part - they don't make it any more and there is nothing like it!!! Typical.

getoffthecoffeetable · 25/03/2013 16:35

I'm happy to see the December thread too, it does feel like we're moving on - very slowly though. I feel like I've known I'm pregnant forever and can't wait to check that there really is a little person growing in my bloated belly and it's not just my imagination. That'll teach me to use FRES tests!
Have just been to Waitrose and stocked up on meals. Am predicting I'm going to be a very lazy cook this week!
Ended up spending a fortune as couldn't decide what to buy so got it all. Must learn not to shop when hungry!
Lots of people have asked if we're doing anything nice for our wedding anniversary on Wednesday. Have held off on telling anyone it's our midwife booking in appointment. DH has taken the day off so we'll hopefully do something nice afterwards with DS. please not the soft play centre

Saundy · 25/03/2013 16:38

Sorry to see you're struggling Spanish but at least you can get that reassurance from it, I hope it all starts to settle soon.

Theicingontop · 25/03/2013 16:40

So glad to hear something positive come of your appointment, Vix. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

My sickness has returned and chased my appetite off. Two days of full on eating and now all I can do is sip water without gagging. Ugh. Is that normal btw? I thought once it's gone it's gone.

OH is starting to get excited and thinking of baby names - Gregory, anyone? I hope he's joking Hmm

MummaPanda · 25/03/2013 16:44

Nice that there are so many mature mummies on here! Are there any young mummies? I'm 22 so feeling very young right now!!

getoff I learned from last pregnancy that M&S does the best ready meals. We need to drive a bit to get there from my house, which is a shame. We also have www.cookfood.net/ around here. And they are really good too! I'm planning on stocking my freezer with them near birth this time. I didn't get so organised last time. (Went into labour on the tuesday after I stopped work). It's always good to check out what's available locally isn't it Wink

OneLittleToddleTerror · 25/03/2013 16:47

Link again www.cookfood.net/

vix206 · 25/03/2013 16:52

I'm 34, just! 35 on Easter Sunday.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 25/03/2013 16:53

And diege yes, we all view risk very differently. I'm a worrier through, so 1 in 150 is very high to me, even 1 in 250 feels high.

heartonsleeve · 25/03/2013 16:56

Hello all Smile

My 8 week scan on Friday was great - all present and correct, good heartbeat and good position. I saw the consultant too, and because I take (a very low dose) beta-blocker, I will get an extra scan at 32 weeks to check on growth.

I wasn't sick this morning (hooray) but puked this afternoon while deciding what to cook for dinner. I've made a veggie cottage pie, so there'll be a wind warning for this evening (sorry - tmi!). But I made it, which is a HUGE achievement, considering I haven't been near the kitchen for 3 weeks! Hopefully DH will be as delighted as I am that I've managed it.

And if we're sharing ages, I'm 31, so middle of the pack, I guess Grin

I'm 23, Mumma Smile

pegster · 25/03/2013 17:25

Vix - really pleased the midwife was so positive, keeping fingers crossed
Off work this week, had a 2 hour nap when DS did - bliss. DSC arriving this evening for a week, going to be difficult keeping how rough I feel under raps, am sure they'll guess I'm pregnant and trying to keep quiet til after the scan

Diege · 25/03/2013 17:33

I think I'm one of the oldest? (43 in May)!!!

Mistyshore · 25/03/2013 17:46

I'm 36, 37 on my due date Smile

Animol · 25/03/2013 17:48

Hello All! Can I join in? I'm due with number 5 on November 13! I'm also ancient: 43 in August. Had first scan last week - wasn't expecting to see much and there was its little heart pumping away :-))))) Very happy but very tired and a bit sick.

busyprocrastinating · 25/03/2013 17:58

I'm 34. I've just had the dreaded call to say that ofsted are coming in tomorrow. There goes my evening! Not happy at all

Saundy · 25/03/2013 18:02

Welcome Animol & Heart & congrats!

Are we having an age amnesty lol?! I'm 33, apparently, could've swore I was 27 a minute ago.

getoffthecoffeetable · 25/03/2013 18:09

Hi animal congratulations.
onetoddler they look great. When I had DS my mum brought loads of meals she'd made and put them in the freezer, it was a lifesaver. Am planning on going on maternity leave earlier this time and getting some cooking and organising done.
On the age amnesty, am 33, 34 in a couple of weeks.

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 25/03/2013 18:14

An age amnesty?? What does that mean?? We have to give our age?

I'm 27 and still 27 on due date! X
