Hope for me yet!! Am seeing doc in an hour so hoping she has some reassurance for me. Just feels like its never gonna happen. Have done all the practical things...have cot, pram, clothes, bottles etc but just cannot summon the emotions its insane cos have been such an emotional wreck with everything else

Boosiehs · 17/04/2013 12:57

I feel a bit weird. When I don't think about it too much (and the sprog isn't kicking my insides) I don't feel any different and almost forget about the baby.

I am excited - and petrified - however.

I've not even thought about packing a bag, getting the cot. What else do I need?! HELP!

I need to think about the birth plan too I guess...

DaveMccave · 17/04/2013 14:03

babyh don't panic. I know several people who felt the same when pregnant, more people than you think can't relate to the baby till its actually here. It will come.

rug What a story! That must have been such a shock. I can't imagine having such a short amount of time to mentally prepare, especially given the circumstances.

BabyHMummy · 17/04/2013 19:29

Thanks Dave

Doctor was brilliant. She was really understanding and easy to talk to. She basically said the same as everyone else...normal under circs etc, come in time, don't stress about it etc. She said as long as its just the feeling indifferent she isn't too worried but if i start to resent me or baby then i need to go back etc. Guess just helps to hear medical person say it

Thanks for support guys its good to be able to say some of it without fear of ppl looking funny at ya or treating ya diff

MrsPennyapple · 17/04/2013 20:28

Glad you've been able to talk to someone BabyH and they were helpful. You'll be fine :)

I saw MW today, she said I'm measuring big for dates, but not by a lot. I don't think it means much at this stage, baby might just have had a busy week growing. It could all even out by next time I see her.

RugBugs · 17/04/2013 20:55

BabyHMummy I'm glad you've got some reassurance, I really think it is more common than it might seem, I mean, it's not something friends/family readily confess too.

MrsPennyApple the possible upside of you measuring slightly big is an extra scan at 30something weeks!

Had a slight disagreement with an appointments person at my hospital today. I'm under a consultant but they couldn't find a record of it and told me to go to my mw for a referral! Shock I was referred to a consultant at 4 weeks Hmm already. Am seeing my mw tomorrow to ask her advice and to try and find out just how long the wait list is for physio (4weeks already). I'm also going to say just how unhappy I am with the maternity services in general and ask to be considered for an elcs if a homebirth is not available to me. Sorry, rant over!

BabyHMummy · 17/04/2013 21:04

Thanks rug. Like u say not something ppl own up to. I know.with everything else going on i am putting way too much pressure on myself. But she has signed me off again and has unofficially agreed to keep doing so til i can go on mat leave

FoofFighter · 17/04/2013 21:04

babyH, so glad that someone actually sat and listened to you x

My bump feels huge today and in the shower just now noticed that my old silver stretchmarks now have brand new bright red thin stretchmarks appearing inside them

Had a horrid few days with shit from family and almost splitting up with OH over it all, on top of not sleeping and being ill... not been too good lately. But today things seem brighter and it's the first day in the last 5 I haven't sobbed my heart out so that's good. Was starting to wonder if I should be asking about anti-depressants at one point :(

Just a reminder to those not on FB, you need to officially inform your employer in writing by 25weeks of your intentions for maternity leave!!

As for me: I honestly don't know when to plan to go off. I am not sure tbh if I am going back so could in theory pop off earlier couldn't I? But on the other hand I don't want to take the piss, but on the other other hand I work 7 days a a week very early mornings in a physical cleaning job and it's tiring me out now at 23wks and finding it hard to do some of the tasks I have to do. In an ideal world I'd wait till 35/36 weeks just in case I have no option but to go back after, but I can't see me lasting another 12 weeks

BabyHMummy · 17/04/2013 21:07

Ohhh foof that's awful sending huge hugs Xxx hope things with oh calm down!!

I can't get my matb1 form til mid of week 25 so work will have to deal!

Can someone post the Facebook link pls so i can join...can't find it lol

RugBugs · 17/04/2013 21:14

BabyH and Foof - glad you're both feeling a bit better. Pregnancy hormones combined with genuinely difficult times can't be fun at all.

I have less reason to be down but am still feeling a bit sorry for myself, just because I've got a rotton cold. DH is being lovely though, and the baby often kicks at the right times to cheer me up a little.

We're picking up my latest bargain tomorrow evening hopefully. It's a glider nursing chair and stool for £20 on ebay. Looks OK, but maybe not in the smartest condition. It should do fine for the nursery though, and with a radio or something in there as well, may be a nice place to cuddle and feed baby for hours on end!

RugBugs · 17/04/2013 21:33

Foof families can be just shit. I struggle to understand why they can't just be supportive of one another?

I'm going to join you on the stretchmarks Sad I didn't get any with DD anywhere but bloody hell below my belly button resembles the nile delta right now. I'm glad I won't be able to see it for much longer and then just have a massive fright in August.

I've had my anomaly scan and everything looks fine. Haven't been feeling lots of movement, i'm overweight so had mostly put it down to that but had still felt a little worried, the sonographer said my placenta is across the front so that was nicely reassuring.

22+1

Woofers · 17/04/2013 22:19

I am beginning to think there is something in the moon cycle or something. I'm feeling a bit touchy and tearful at the moment. Bloody hormones!!! Confused

FoofFighter · 17/04/2013 22:24

hormones have a lot to answer for imo!!

Lexi, great news, and good to know there's a reason you aren't feeling much :) very reassuring I'd imagine.

Rugbugs, wouldn't mind but for once it's not my family but his Hmm makes it harder though as have to bite my tongue really.

BabyH you have to tell them still with or without the MATB1 I believe. that can come later. There's one of us here who is a HR bod and can advise (want to say Ruck or one of the Jolly's but can't bloody remember now) Re FB group, pm either me or Abilee90 with your FB name and location and rough guide to what your pic is, we'll find you, add you on to group, it's secret, unsearchable, nothing goes on your newsfeed for others to see so you can truly say what you want, and feel free to post pics too.

Am trying to aid my sleep habits, having a banana and a warm milky drink before bed each night. Unf, forgot to buy horlicks or cocoa so got a spoon of decaff coffee in my mug of warm milk! prob not ideal as maybe still a bit of caffeine in there but warm milk on it's own is rank :(

BabyHMummy · 17/04/2013 22:28

Cheers foof. My work demo.d matb1 at same time. I haven't decided what i am doing yet will all depend on whether Dr will soon me off til end of July

RugBugs · 17/04/2013 22:53

My Nan used to give us warm milk with a butterscotch flavour syrup when we were little, was the loveliest thing ever but she can't remember where it was from and I've never found it Sad.

I'm having some sugar laden dreamtime tea from wittards atm, I don't anticipate sleeping much tonight, the wind is howling outside and the noise coming from the fireplace in our room wakes DD up next door.

Snufflebabe · 18/04/2013 06:05

Hi everyone,

Well I'm officially 23 weeks today! Bump is big and round, although what I'm going to look like at full term I don't know. With my DD, I was officially HUGE by 40 weeks, so this one is obviously going to be the same way!

I have anterior placenta, but starting to feel kicks more often. They are really low down so will need the baby to start thinking about moving soon so he/she is the right way around.

Had a chat with work yesterday and I'm thinking about wrapping up work around 37 weeks, and using a couple of weeks annual leave. DD was a week early, and I finished at 38 weeks, so who knows what is going to happen this time around. I am already starting to get tired with travelling into work and rushing to do the drop off/pick up, so all of that combined with heavy pregnancy and summer temperatures is making me think that I should finish a little earlier than 37 weeks.

I've been referred to physio for my pelvic pain - I think it's spd. Never had anything like it with DD, and my goodness, it is painful. The midwife said it was a group session, but having spoken with the physio I have a one on one appointment, which is great. They can't treat the pain, but they can help me manage it.

I am also moving house tomorrow - our house has take 6 months to sell, so it seems like a long time coming. After work today, I'll be packing up all the lights and kitchen utensils. The house is just full of boxes. I'm so excited about getting into our new home.

Shopping wise - as DD is just 2.5, we have everything left over from last time. I've bought new bottles, and cleaned up the buggy per move. I'm going to wash all of her baby clothes in preparation, but as we are team yellow, I'm not sure if we will need pink stuff or not! Moving into the new place is a great opportunity to start getting organised.

Birthing plan - last time all mine said was'Would prefer no epidural or pethadine, however I will do whatever the midwife thinks is best for baby.' I was induced as my hind waters were leaking, in labour for 6 hours, took gas and air, diamorphine. Cord snapped on delivery. Had third degree tear so needed spinal block. My plan this time will literally say 'whatever is best for baby'. I don't think there is any point in being too descriptive as the baby will do what it wants!

RuckAndRoll · 18/04/2013 08:33

snuffle enjoy the house move, make sure you sit on the sofa and direct operations! The least stressful house move we've ever had I had a cast on my leg and was on crutches. DH and his mate tried to move the sofa with me still sat on it.

I'm off to physio too, have to do the group session/class this evening before I can get a one-to-one session. Have health insurance through work but they won't cover me at the moment.

Lexi glad you had a good scan. Maybe phone your midwife to ask about the placenta, do not consult Dr Google!!

Foof it's definitely not me in HR. I'm an engineer! Put my Mat1b in as soon as I got it at 22 weeks so I didn't lose it. Finish on 12th July when I'll be 36 weeks.

Have a great day everyone

RugBugs · 18/04/2013 09:31

Snuffle! Good luck with your house move! An also 23wks today waiting for my physio appt with a 2.5 year old DD! We know we've got another DD on the way though, happy days!

AIBU to be very excited about my deliveries due today? Gap maternity goodies for me, a gorgeous jumper for DD and a few bits for baby. It is coming via yodel though so most likely will get thrown over a fence/alley half a mile away.
Expecting a few eBay packages today too! If I'm really lucky all the craft stuff I ordered will arrive as well and DD and I can spend the afternoon stamping Grin

I think there is a scan today??? Or am I imagining it?

LexiLoganberryBump · 18/04/2013 09:37

ruck Thanks, I learnt early on not to consult Dr Google after scaring myself witless about being overweight and pregnant thanks to googleSmile

I had a appointment with my midwife on tuesday, she asked about movements so told her that I haven't felt a awful lot but placenta is across the front so I'm much more relaxed about it now.

Brought my reusable nappy system yesterday, can't wait for them to get here. Noticed a few people on here mentioning that they're wanting to use cloth, it's real nappy week so some really good bargains out there, hadn't planned to get mine yet but as they had 20% off seemed sensible to get them now rather than wait a couple of months and pay more.

RuckAndRoll · 18/04/2013 10:17

Rug oooh parcels are always exciting! I got a few gap maternity tops the other week, the basis tshirts are so comfy. I have a really long back so I'm loving actually having tops that are long enough at the moment!

DH was feeling baby have a major kicking session last night, for the first time we saw my belly jumping with the kicks. It's really weird seeing it and knowing you have no control over that bit of your body!

FoofFighter · 18/04/2013 10:57

Happy new house Snuffle :)

Lexi, what have you gone for? I'm waiting on a delivery from Pixie Pants on FB, (they are just the chinese Alva cheapo ones but without the stress of ordering from China!) I've ordered 3 just to see what they are like, next I need to get some hemp boosters, and on Sat there is a local baby market and last month they have bucketsfull of fluff so am hoping that seller is there again and I can buy mooooooorrreeeee!

rug what kind of crafts do you do, I've got a wee bundle of assorted cloth FQ/scraps and want to make... something.... for the baby. Maybe a mobile...

RugBugs · 18/04/2013 11:10

Mostly paper foof I spent months making a scrapbook of DDs first year but I used lots of medias in it. I do a bit of felt, just decorations, we don't have a sewing machine or I'd probably do more with fabric. A mobile sounds like such a great idea! I'm sure there are laods of templates on the net (there certainly are for the small decs I do) what about a quilt? I'd have loved to be able to make a quilt but I bought a lovely ditsy one instead.
I did make DD an advent calendar from a wood kit last year, that was fun and she loved it.

DD has just discovered the joys of stamping so I've ordered a load of animal stamps and new pads.
She is in total awe of how she can create an image on paper using one it's so funny. I've got a few embossing powders and textured pens/flocking I might introduce her to soon.
