Pimms, with all the garnish, and lots of lovely pâté on christ-crusted soft white French bread....

dinkystinky · 04/04/2013 10:53

Right - MatB1 handed in - am taking a week and 2 days annual leave before it starts at just shy of 39 weeks and have figured out that as from today I have only 10 weeks and 1 day left at work (2 of which I'm on holiday for and one of which is a bank holiday week so a short week!) - that sounds scarily short!

Crisp-crusted! Gah! Autocorrect!

SundaySunshine · 04/04/2013 12:38

Great pep talk dinky Grin and I heartily agree. I also agree about the purple tankini! Bought mine online and was quite amazed at the size of the pant part - looked like they were made for an elephant, I grumbled about having to send it back but DH tactfully suggested I try it on first: OMG the thing must have somehow shrunk as I was putting it on because it fitted perfectly Shock

I also just worked out that I have 8 weeks of work left < woohoo!>

photographerlady · 04/04/2013 13:04

yay Sunday I have 8 weeks left too, but its snowing right now in London I am so hoping for nice weather in June while I am assembling baby stuff in the back garden.

TotallyEggFlipped · 04/04/2013 13:21

Grin at Dinky as an aubergine!

shelley72 · 04/04/2013 14:09

just checking in good to see that everyone is doing well - phie sorry you're not having such a great time with family at the minute - hope things sort themselves out soon. photographer there is a BF person working at the hospital whose name escapes me and LOADS of support / groups available in the area. i am starting my peer training so will be good to go by the time this one arrives!

have gone from having a teeny bump to being HUGE (i think) and finding that not many of my clothes fit any more Sad. for some reason i am finding the body change really hard this time around - and seem to want to hide my bump becasue i just feel so fat. has anyone found any forgiving non maternity tops that are good for wearing with jeans but will still accommodate a growing bump?

i am still feeling movement very low down but little bean (and big sister) has been keeping me awake all night with constant wriggling. hopefully bean will be worn out by the time it is born and so i will (finally) have a good sleeper Smile. hoping that the MW will be able to tell the position at my appointment next week as i do need to start thinking about the birth i suppose

had my GTT and all was fine but i was too early for the 28wk bloods so have to have those done next week. i cannot believe how quickly the time is going. i noticed that waitrose and tescos have baby events on for next few weeks so i am going to start stocking up on bits while they are going cheap. has everyone else got all their bits ready? i am sure that i was more organised last time around!!!

Shelley I have some bubble hem tops from new look that are non maternity but have plenty of room to grow but may last you a bit?

shelley72 · 04/04/2013 14:16

ooh thank you will check out new look. also difficult to know whether to get long sleeve tops or whether to go for short sleeve as the sun will soon be here

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 04/04/2013 14:30

Mine are vests but I just put a cardigan on top, I bought them last summer so they have lasted me a while.

Cutandstick · 04/04/2013 14:36

Hi all, been trying to catch up on the last few weeks, when work has just taken over Sad but only 4 weeks left when I go back after Easter. Feel very bad seeing how late lots of you are going, but 33 weeks seems enough for me with 30 small children, low chairs etc etc.
Anyway... 2 questions...

  1. Over bump maternity jeans recommendations. My bump is at the front and my bum and hips have been disappearing so they need to stay up. The ones I had in an 8 (I've never been an 8) now dig into bump where the denim meets the soft fabric... I just need something COMFY! The under bump are being pushed down and the builders bum look is not hot!
  2. Chest of drawers... Don't want to spend a fortune but want something nice, probably wood - any ideas?

My crib mattress arrived today - finally started shopping - very exciting!

cutandstick just realised that you're a teacher, read it first time and thought 30 children, i struggle with 2 Shock. am completely in awe of all of you working as i am not sure i would have the energy (even though i worked to 38 and 37wks with last two pgs).

anyway, can recommend H&M jeans - quite cheap and seem to stay up though they do dip down under the bump at the front so waiting to see if this gets uncomfy as i expand. also had gap over bump jeans before which i really loved (think i wore them for a bit after too) but with the over bump bit folded down a couple of times becasue they did come up quite big.

M&P do some lovely nursery furniture though their customer service leaves a lot to be desired bought it twice over now for DCs and its still going strong and still looks good as new. its not very babyish so should last. i also get mailings from aspace, they have lovely stuff if a little £££..

photographerlady · 04/04/2013 15:02

Thanks shelly for the info. It's nice having a hospital buddy that can give you the low down. Glad to hear everything's going okay and congrats on the GTT.

Cutandstick · 04/04/2013 15:05

Thanks shelley shall have a look at those!

Cheeseandbread · 04/04/2013 16:02

Slouching thanks for reassurance about the Vista. I find it all a bid mind boggling really... I liked the big basket though and the foam wheels along with the fact that it can face both ways.

iclaudius I make myself hungry... And an constantly thinking about all that cheese that I want to eat but can't... My mum had listeria when pregnant with me and I was born three months premature so I am making sure I am being good, even though the risk is probably small.

Congrats dinky and others on handing in mat b1 forms. I can't believe we are on the countdown already! 8 weeks of work for me left. After the Easter hols I've got 6 weeks them half term then 2 weeks... Then I'm done!

Just bought some bits from mothercare and it's all feeling a little more real... Maternity pads, breast pads, nipple cream, nappies, wipes sudocreme, and a manual breast pump! The avent one was half price...

If you can get to a h&m store they had a sale on at the weekend I got some over the bump jeans reduced from £25 to a £5 and they are comfy.

MightBeMad · 04/04/2013 16:10

Seven weeks to go here, one of which is holiday. I can't wait!!!

Cut - I couldnt stand over bump jeans in my first pregnancy - not sure what about them pissed me off but something did - but like overbump jersey trousers in late pregnancy (Seraphine and Isabelle Oliver ones are great and smart enough for work).

Shelley - am mostly sorted apart from the washing fest of baby stuff and picking up another change mat for downstairs loo.

Cut - I'm pretty sure I'd be off alot earlier if I was working with 30 kids!

Mmmmmm at pimms and pate and gooey cheese...

I've realised I made it sound a bit like my scan is this week, but it's actually next week! I really should read posts back. I'm grateful for all the good wishes either way. Hopefully all will be fine.

In terms of mat leave, I gave my matB1 in today, quite exciting. Especially as I discovered I get 30.5 days of leave to take which I didn't know about Grin I had planned to stop in 10 weeks, but think I'll make it 9 weeks using a week of annual leave, then take the money at the end for the annual leave I haven't used (because I'm not going back after mat leave). A very nice surprise though! cut with 30 small children to look after I think you deserve to stop as soon as possible!

shelley72 · 04/04/2013 19:01

can second dinkys suggestion of isabella oliver and seraphine maternity clothes - lovely. but my SAHM pay doesnt stretch to it unfortunately Grin. i am determined though to get some of their bamboo pyjamas - i had them last time and they were gorgeous, so comfy and soft and look nice enough for when visitors so 'kindly' pop round when you have given birth.

i think i am mostly sorted out with baby shopping though that hasnt stopped me starting a JL nursery list to get a couple of new bits that could do with replacing. i need to have some baby related excitement. i also have the task of sorting through stuff in loft for washing / NCTing etc. am terrible and have kept loads so it needs sorting into age groups and then take it from there when bean arrives. i put up DDs winter coats at the weekend - they are so beautiful i felt quite sad that she will never wear them again.

im just glad i am old otherwise i fear i could be one of those '16 kids and counting' mums Grin

persuasion good news about your extra leave / money. always good when you find out you have more than you thought!

TotallyEggFlipped · 04/04/2013 19:50

cut I love my H&M over bump jeans. They're so comfortable!

I've told work I plan to try and keep going until the end of June. I'll be 37 weeks at that stage. It seems so far away......

notprincesskate · 04/04/2013 20:31

Evening all, we finally got confirmation of sstc today for our house so hopefully it all goes through smoothly and quickly, and that should take off some of the worry with maternity pay. I had to hand in matb form before our holiday, so mat leave starting at 34 weeks, as if I get unwell again it would be enforced anyway, I've got quite a bit of leave to take first as well so actually leaving at 32 weeks and reducing hours down from 29 weeks, I only work 24hrs a week as it is so I'm in awe of those that do full time and are working till 37/38 weeks, makes me feel seriously lazy!
I've started buying the few bits we need, and stocking up on wipes etc when on offer, also ordered some vest tops and button front tops today in the hope I'll be successful in bf this time. Have also been in loft (don't tell DH, he banned me!) to sort through clothes and bits up there, ages ago someone mentioned getting plain sleep suits and vests and dyeing them, to get some nice gender neutral bright things so been looking at doing that too, but a bit anxious about putting dye in the washing machine as its new and I'd be mortified if I ruined it, anyone used Dylon without it being a disaster?

Over bump jeans - i really love my Boden jeans, and in my previous 3 pregnancies i HATED over bump anything! they are super comfy and dont dig in at all. the adjustable waist buttons don't rub or leave marks. A bit more expensive than average but fit so well.

In other news, had a appointment at the assesment unit today as had really sore tummy over night (down to an over randy husband!) and it just wouldnt shift. All ok with baby, just got to chug some co-codamol , which i didnt think i could take. Baby is, in fact, not a baby but an octpus currently in breech position but plenty of time to move around. Lovely to hear the heartbeat though.

My DS1 came home from cricket club today full of beans as they were doing "hard ball" training and to quote him "it was ace because we had to wear one of those willy and goolie boxes" cue lots of questions from the younger two!

Supershiv1 · 04/04/2013 21:14

phie I replaced my nissan micra with a Juke in Feb and I love it!!!
The boot is small though.

dinkystinky · 04/04/2013 21:16

Persuasion - nice bonus pay out there!

Totally - I'll be going off around 37 wks too.

Big belly - glad you and the octopus are all well. Ds1 has to wear a willy box for sparring in karate - its v funny.

Notprincesskate - no idea re dying : am not crafty in the slightest!
