Shagged Out Viroids 7th Thread! From conception to birth...living proof that JSing really does work!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 21:03

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw a few births, including one set of twins, and this one promises to be fruitful also with a number of us nearing the end of the 9 month wait!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 14th thread.

Second time I am someone birth partner but first time since ttc and I thought...OOMMGG it hurts!!!! But Mum was happy I was there and I am happy to help her and quite honoured to see another brad new person arriving!!!

WingDefence · 14/03/2013 11:39

I've just seen on the evil Facebook Dysgu popped this morning at 3am-ish!

I won't spoil things for her by telling you the details on here Grin

Congrats Dysgu!!

MrsBri · 14/03/2013 11:56

Congrats Dysgu!

Boo to AWOL midwife though, Wing.

Notso, I think an 8 week scan is a good idea. Should help with the nerves. For a short while!!

Struggling to cope at work at the moment thanks to working with a bunch of lazy bitches. HR are as much use as a chocolate teapot too. :-/

WingDefence · 14/03/2013 12:00

MrsBri if you want to moan about work, feel free. I'm sure we can offer some advice Brew

notso, I agree about the scan too. You'll be counting down the days then? :)

StuckOnARollercoaster · 14/03/2013 12:00

Wow was just reading the posts and going to write something about how its the home straight now for wing and dysgu but it looks like dysgu has gone and finished!
Congrats - can't wait to hear the details and see some pics...

wing I think you must be next to get a snuggly newborn to cuddle. Hopefully you can relax and enjoy your remaining days now...

notsoold that sounds lovely - to be at a birth but not on the painful side. Must be quite emotional knowing that it will be you eventually and you get to see your baby soon with the extra scan...

Starting to count down the days to finishing work here - its quite sad as my remaining tasks are all about wrapping up the piece of work I've been doing. Although its contract work I've been here since June last year so its like I've become 'part of the furniture'.
Also just had a text from boyfriend and I've had a successful ebay bid and made another baby purchase - am starting to get the hang of this babystuff shopping! (Have got a baby bean bag to plonk the little one in so I can at least go to toilet/have shower/make cup of tea!)

StuckOnARollercoaster · 14/03/2013 12:01

MrsBri I've yet to find a decent HR department anywhere that I work -it seems to be a common thing!
(apologies if anyone on this thread works in HR Blush)

notsoold · 14/03/2013 12:10

Dysgu!!!! Congratulations!!!!

Wing.... I am counting the days. And the hours :)

Stuck...it was quite lovely and kid of intense. Knowing that (hopefully) I will be there at the hospital was weird!!! (different hospital, but YKWIM)

tiredteddy · 14/03/2013 12:30

Ooh exciting can't wait for the details Dysgu!

Wing, it might even be a different MW altogether? Happy end if work for tomorrow.

Notso, 22nd is a good date, it's my DH birthday!

Kittenkatzen · 14/03/2013 12:54

ooh how exciting for dysgu can't wait to hear all the gorydetails!

wing hurrah for reaching full term and finishing work on the same day, what a lovely way to end the week :)

mrsbri sorry you're having a crap time at work. Don't you started working from a home a little bit soon? Hopefully that might make things a bit easier.

notso how lovely to be able to be there for your friend - must have been weird to be thinking "that will be me soon"!

stuck baby bean bags? What is this thing? I must google immediately as I think I want one! :o

WingDefence · 14/03/2013 13:30

Is a baby bean bag like this? I love the yawning baby in the main pic!!

Yes tired I was always expecting it will be a random MW so as not to get my hopes up but having met my lead MW now a couple of times recently and as she was the one to come round and discuss everything with us I was really hoping she'd be around. I knew the chances were slim anyway as she is part time but being on annual leave completely wipes the chances unless MiniWing doesn't come early (DS was 3 days early and they also pushed my EDD back by 8 days at the dating scan) which I doubt.

Right, have got my handover teleconference in an hour so I just want to finish off a few bits before then :)

(And Stuck oooh snuggly newborn baby smell!)

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 14/03/2013 13:51

Congrats Dysgu , can't wait to hear all about it!

I have 15 minutes more of teaching (its my office hr hence the MNing) and then I'm done! Not quite full maternity leave but at least I can work at home now and not have to trek in to University. Might treat myself to a Wine tonight! Sending one to you for tomorrow Wing Wine !

Sorry to hear about your MW being away. This happened to ne when I was pregnant with DS and planning a HB and I was so disappointed at the time. Hopefully when it comes to it you will be visited by a wonderful MW who, if you're anything like me, you will be eternally grateful for and have no idea what her name was or what she looked like Blush .

Would love to be a birth partner notso - congrats to your friend and good luck with the early scan.

Right, going to finish boxing up my stuff for when we move to a new office building during my leave and then its off to the hospital for my meeting with SoM and consultant. Wish me luck!

WingDefence · 14/03/2013 13:53

GOOD LUCK GUINEA!! Grin

And yes, good idea about Wine tomorrow night!

StuckOnARollercoaster · 14/03/2013 15:28

yep that's the type WD and that baby is so cute! the harness bit can be changed as the baby becomes a toddler so its a bean bag for their room.
I couldn't decide what kind of bouncy chair would be useful given that the comments seem to vary between my baby loved it, to my baby hated it and there are so many different types and prices that I decided not to get one at all and then I saw these and thought that even if the baby hates it - it may be useful once they're at toddler stage and so wouldn't be a complete waste of money! (Plus buying it on ebay for a fraction of its new price!!!)

goodluck guinea

Kittenkatzen · 14/03/2013 18:26

The baby beanbag looks amazing! We've bookmarked it to buy when baby outgrows the bouncy chair we've already bought Smile

Good grief someone in this train smells like they've not washed in a month, it's properly grim. An having to keep my face in my scarf not to vom SadEnvy

MrsBri · 14/03/2013 20:13

I hate smelly train people...I seem to encounter them all the time.

There's a woman who gets on my train in the morning who has a range of coats that could be bath mats, kind of, or 70's cushion covers, and they smell rank. That musty, got damp and not dried properly, smell. Makes me want to puke and she insists on sitting near me. In face, she's a 'race the preggo to a seat' culprit!

Congrats Dysgu!!

Now you tell me Masterchef Oz is awesome, dammit! Thanks for the warning Kitten, will catch it next time around.
Masterchef UK clashed with something in the planner last night, so I'm not even watching that now.

I want a beanbag, DS Hated his bouncychair, only liked the swing. Expect this one to be just as awkward.

MrsBri, my best mate & I gave nicknames to everyone on the train to work about 5 years ago....everynow and again I get a random text saying 'OMG! Just seen Fishfork',
Fishfork doesn't sound as fun to sit next to as MustyCoat.

madly.

MrsBri · 14/03/2013 20:37

Ha ha...I sometimes see Banana Man on my evening train. He's a bloke who always eats a banana on the way home! Makes commuting not so bad.

There's also Fat Twat. No explanation required! He wears half mast tracksuit bottoms which also have holes in. Nice :-/

We have a bouncy thing. Hope Baby B approves! :-)

Dysgu · 14/03/2013 22:12

Hi all - yes, Evan David Nelson Langford made a quick, early arrival at 3.16 am this morning after something of a dash to the hospital! He weighs exactly 5 lb and is perfect.

I did have niggling pains at around 11pm but they were not hurting and as contractions had stopped on Tuesday I did not pay them much attention and headed to bed. I was woken with a GUSH at 2.05 am and within 5 minutes big contractions were coming. I timed a few and they seemed to be up to 90 seconds long and coming every 2 or 3 minutes so I woke DP about 2.25 am and called my parents to come over to be with DDs.

DDad headed over - but whilst living very close, the floating bridge that connects to two towns does not run between midnight and 5am so he had to drive the long way round and there are traffic works that cause a long diversion - even though there was very little traffic!

DDad arrived and we left home at 2.55 am. We are close to the hospital so were there by 3.05 am and I had been told when I called to head straight for Labour Ward and not maternity. As I walked in to Labour Ward they were just preparing a delivery room so I had an other contraction before climbing onto the bed. MW was connecting the monitor and trying to take my BP etc and I told her I needed to push. She told me all was fine and gave me the gas and air so I told DP to tell her I needed to push! They managed to undress me from the waist down after my second contraction on the bed.

I remember saying "it's coming. I promise you, it's coming" and she said yes, it was fine.

And there was a baby on the bed between my legs! We had been in the delivery room less than 10 minutes!

I think everyone was surprised at just how quickly he made an appearance! I think he rode out on a wave of amniotic fluid as the place was soaked (and my slippers, which were on the floor, have had to be binned!)

1st degree tear so no stitches. Gas and air to deliver the placenta.

Dp went down to NICU where they had taken the baby and came back with first pictures. Then DP headed home and was home before DDs got up for school/pre-school. They came to meet their baby brother after school and have declared they love him and want him to come home soon and that we should keep him!

I am now home - hoping to get some sleep in my own bed and hospital is a hard place to sleep as alarms go off all the time. They don't have a transition ward here - that is the next step and they are currently setting it up. I will go in again in the morning and have been given a pump to use as we try to establish a milk supply. Nothing happening yet - at all - with hand expressing or the pump but I will keep going. I have struggled before and only managed to express any milk until both DDs' due dates before giving up....

Hope all else are well - off to sleep for a bit before trying to express again.

wavesandsmiles · 14/03/2013 22:24

Oh congratulations Dysgu Thanks, and I hope that Evan is home with you soon. What a quick delivery too - I bet DDs are pleased to have you home so quickly. Good luck with the expressing

I'm feeling in brighter spirits today, despite all that is going on with the horrible hyperemesis and Twuntish STBXH. I had my 20 week scan, and everything looks perfect, and I'm having a little boy Grin Now the fun of thinking of baby names, and whittling down a list.

All the talk of smelly train people reminds me why I am SO pleased I don't live in mainland UK anymore, no trains where I am and my daily commute is a 10 minute walk along quiet lanes. DCs are at school a 3 minute walk away, and the nursery place I have reserved is at the nursery at the top of my hill, equidistant between my house and DCs school.

Off to bed for me now, shattered still from the ongoing vomiting and stress of the domestic situation!

Rockchick1984 · 14/03/2013 22:27

Mahoosive congratulations Dysgu but it all sounds very dramatic!! How long do they expect Evan to stay in NICU for? My friend's little one was kept in due to being prem and she was allowed to breastfeed rather than expressing, maybe ask if that is an option if it's something you would want to do, particularly once your milk comes in? Even if it's just one or 2 feeds per day, obviously you can't be there all the time with having other kids!

Rockchick1984 · 14/03/2013 22:28

Oh Waves, congrats - little boys are amazing!! Have you narrowed the list of names down yet?

wavesandsmiles · 14/03/2013 22:44

Rock I am not doing so well on name narrowing down, I love Osian, Dylan, Sebastian, Caspian, Corin, Arlo and Jules at the moment - but that may well change. DS and DD are hugely excited at the prospect of a baby brother, and with them being so much older I'm sure they will want to be actively involved in looking after him. At least it will be easier than last time (only 17 months between DS and DD), and DS2 is due end of July, so it will be school holidays too. I hope we have a lovely summer as I am having dreams of making home made icecream and sunbathing on the patio for a couple of months Smile

tiredteddy · 14/03/2013 23:11

Wonderful news Dysgu! S pleased to hear about Evan and his safe arrival. How lovely to have a little boy too. Hope you are resting and feeling ok.

Waves, you do sound brighter! Another DS for you too and I love all the names on your list! Ice cream sounds rather wonderful maybe we should all come and visit Smile

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 14/03/2013 23:31

Congrats Waves on a great scan and finding out you're having DS2. I love the name Sebastian but it was vetoed by OH - totally irrelevant in the end as we have found out we are having a girl! We have chosen a name but am keeping quiet until she arrives Smile .

What an entrance to the world baby Evan. Good news that you're allowed to keep him Dysgu Grin . Have you thought about using a supplemental feeding system? This allows you to 'top up' milk for baby with expressed breastmilk or formula at the same time as breastfeeding - this helps build up your supply as well as being lovely for you and baby. I know its a pain, but might also be worth waking up to express at night. Prolactin levels are higher at night and is a key factor in milk production. Glad you're home and managing to rest. Hope you can all be together as a family soon. (p.s. am slightly Envy of your speedy labour/delivery - do you think I could book one of those?!)

My meeting went really well today though what was meant to be half an hour ended up being 2! I was certainly grilled regarding what I would/would not want/expect/accept as part of my care, but it was done in a supportive rather than aggressive way. They are supportive of my homebirth so have been transferred to the hospital where the HB is based. I am, however, going in to make a hospital birth plan with a senior MW just in case transfer is required because I definitely won't be coherent during labour but otherwise I'll see one of the HB MWs at home at 37 weeks.

It was strange being in the same hospital that I was watching on TV last night. We had our meeting in the active birth room with the pretty lights and the ceiling rope/swing thing. Plus one if the MWs was on the programme the other week. I'm embarrassed to say I felt a bit giggly Blush .

Pineapple80 · 15/03/2013 01:19

Aww congrats Dysgu! Welcome to little Evan Smile. Such lovely news!

Guinea - glad your meeting went well. Very cool your hospital was on telly! Grin

We have picked a name ourselves as we know baby's sex but are one of those couples not telling! Middle name will be one of DH parents names, which I guess I am fine with. Had our heart set on one name for a while but we came across this one which is more unique and injustvlike it more IMO!

Great news of scans recently, bet it is a relief! I'll be 26 wks this weekend, hospital checkup next week then glucose test the week after. Baby stuff shopping possibly this weekend or next, I think it's going to make it so much more real when we buy things Smile.

Not sure why but feeling a bit down today Hmm. Lot of stress (created by only myself!) re DH's no-work situation. I know it won't be forever & these things take time but I am worried about what may happen, worried about DH's well-being etc etc. Someone just give me a kick up the bum please and snap me out of this!! Baby needs a positive and happy mumma Smile. Anyway I am sure I will be fine, just one of those things that builds up over time I think & I'm letting it get to me.

Wishing u all a good Friday x
