Shagged Out Viroids 7th Thread! From conception to birth...living proof that JSing really does work!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 21:03

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw a few births, including one set of twins, and this one promises to be fruitful also with a number of us nearing the end of the 9 month wait!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 14th thread.

So I've missed LOADS!

Congrats MrsAVB and Humpty and welcome - good to have new people around to make me feel a bit further along Wink

And also congrats to practising and Guinea - can't believe I missed two babies in two weeks away! Glad all are doing well and love the name choices!

Waves congrats on making it to the third trimester - the end is in sight! You are clearly braver than me with the placenta plans too Smile

notso brilliant news on baby moving - I only just started feeling mine at 20 weeks, I have an anterior placenta which gets in the way apparently, sadly means DP won't feel it for longer.

Child Kitten and Pineapple I hear you on the disturbed sleep - add that I wake up almost on my front sometimes then freak out that I have squished baby - apparently not even possible but I worry anyway!

Wing 6 weeks, wow time is flying! How are you?

MrsBri I've just got back to lovely warm Tokyo and realised my hands have got bigger, clearly I'm suffering some swelling too! Sad

GBT that is interesting re the bands, I do love stuff like that as I like to worry but pretend I'm in control of my worrying, sounds like a good way to do it!

Humpty I had so many random pains in early pg, including my back, and now have hardly any, so hopefully you're the same!

Hi to anyone else I missed! Anyone know where frog is?

Here all is really well, I'm 21+4 and time is suddenly flying in! 20 week scan was amazing - all well, defo a wee boy Grin, all measuring good for dates. My placenta is at the front so doc said I'd not feel movement until around 21 weeks - first felt it a few days before that, as our plane was descending into London from Edinburgh Smile. It was so lovely to see friends and family, cry over adorable bootees knitted by my mum and show off my growing bump - lots of happy tears all round. And lots of shopping; John Lewis and Seraphine did a fair bit of damage to my credit card, enough that we bought an extra suitcase to get us home!

Also got our baby hammock delivered - it looks gorgeous! Will maybe put pics up once we reassemble it.

Loads more to update on but this is already a mammoth post, more later!

Hooya · 12/05/2013 10:11

Hello MrsBri - actually went for John Lewis and Seraphine instead as JL was quieter - it really was carnage! I am really struggling with clothes as mine were all very fitted before and nipped in at the waist, and I gained a lot in the first trimester Blush so I can't wear anything at all from before! I walked into Seraphine and basically said "help, I hate all my maternity clothes" and walked out 30 mins later with two big bagfuls, oops!

Also bought loads of the practical stuff at John Lewis - exactly how much boob-related paraphenalia is there?! Pads, pump, cream, nipple guards, pretty and overly expensive shawl for hiding boobs under while feeding Shock

MrsBri · 12/05/2013 11:51

Sounds like you boosted the UK economy while you were here!

At least you're now sorted though :-)

OP posts:
Hooya · 12/05/2013 15:19

Yup, feels much better to have bought some of the important stuff like monitor and breast pump with instructions in English! Smile

Still got to get all the big stuff (cot, buggy, changing table) but at least we've gotten started!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/05/2013 16:15

Hello hooya - sounds like an excellent shopping trip! Whereabouts do you live? And how far along are you?

I am still getting random aches and pains, but POAS every day for reassurance (expensive habit when the ICs run out Grin) and not panicking about them too much.

Pineapple80 · 12/05/2013 22:22

Wow nice one Hooya with the shopping!! Grin

Hey Humpty don't worry I also poas once a week for weeks after my BFP last Oct! But be warned the lines start to fade the further along you get & don't get stronger!! So dont worry too much Smile.

Child - glad to hear the classes went well. Is it pretty standard for birthing centres to send u home after 6ish hrs then? Pity as visitors would be nice!!

Ugh Monday morning here & had a weird night sweat early this morning! Didn't sleep the best but not frustrated over it, just accepting its all part of pregnancy & funnily enough feel better Grin!

I hope everyone has had a good weekend x

notsoold · 13/05/2013 00:42

Hellloooo there!!!!
Hooya the economy in the uk thanks you!!!

Pineapple we have a lovely tempur mattress but the only con is that normally I feel warm in bed and much more now...

Humpty I poased until I run out of tests ( had about 15 ics):)

Here is to a really good week !!!

Kittenkatzen · 13/05/2013 07:42

Welcome back hooya! good work on the shopping, and love the idea of a baby hammock, would love to see a pic when you get it!

frog is still around on the September antenatal group, I'll give her a nudge to come over and say hi Smile

My bump has really popped out over the lat week or so - it's lovely, but means that where I've been getting away with bits and pieces of my regular clothes (like floaty tops with maternity trousers for work) all of a sudden I've outgrown almost everything!

frogchops · 13/05/2013 10:58

Hello. I'm still around! Mostly yapping away in the september babies thread and still on the jsing thread cos I'm nosey! will have to do some mammoth catching up in my lunch hour....hope you're all ok!

thethreeblondies · 13/05/2013 11:08

Hi ladies, all good here, plodding along at 17 weeks, looking forward to scan in a few weeks and celebrating half way point! Smile And then I can start legitimately shopping (although have gathered up bits from my sister and with stuff from DD's I don't really need much!)

My DD's were exposed to slap cheek this wkend (bloody mil and bil not thinking!) so going to try and get a blood test to check immunity, always something!

MrsAVB · 13/05/2013 11:12

Hi all.
Does anyone have any MS advice? This is my first pg so am not sure what is normal. I have pulled a sticky today as feel so rubbish. Am not thinking it's anything worse than MS as only being sick around 4-6 times a day, although nausea is constant. And (sorry TMI) when I'm being sick it's not like I'm emptying my whole stomach, just a few mouthfuls. Urine doesn't seem too dark and am still managing to eat little things fairly regularly. But have weighed myself for the first time since my BFP and have lost 5lbs in 3-4 weeks, am feeling faint and dizzy, sleeping erratically and having nightmares, and very tired. Feel like a bit of a fraud- sorry for moaning. Am 6 weeks today.
X

thethreeblondies · 13/05/2013 11:19

Oh bless you MrsAVB those early weeks are awful, little bean is nicking all your energy to do it's growing and developing and leaving u with nothing! Keep doing what your doing, eating, drinking what and when u can, (and keep monitoring for dehydration etc) I was eating every hour at some points to keep sickness at bay, just go with it if u can, it will get better! Smile

Pineapple80 · 13/05/2013 12:09

Hope u feel better soon MrsAVB, it doesn't sound too out of the ordinary unfortunately for you. Keep your fluids up if you can and try eating dry crackers often. I found it worse if I let myself get hungry, but everyone is different...

Glad you're doing ok Frog! Smile

And good to see you again Blondies! 20 wk scan, bet u are excited, good luck!

Kitten, yay to a bigger bump! I'm a bit strange and want mine to be bigger!! Grin

I came home from work and DH has assembled almost all the nursery furniture! Bless him! Trying to work out where to put the bassinet...want baby in our room to begin with bit the only place is a space under the a/c - heating unit... We wouldn't use it whilst baby is in the room but my fear is actually the unit falling off the wall!! It is quite an irrational fear but still... Wonder if I should post a photo on FB page to get an opinion? Anyway another option is to have baby sleep in nursery from beginning. Not sure i could do that so early on, but we will see.

wavesandsmiles · 13/05/2013 13:35

Just quickly popping in to offer some advice to MrsAVB - you may have gathered I have really severe hyperemesis.

If you are losing weight, and not keeping anything down, then go to your GP - in fact, I would do so at this stage anyway. The anti-emetic medication is safe and should make you feel a LOT better at this stage. And, if you start to worry about dehydration, you can pick up ketostix from a pharmacy. You just dip one in your wee and it indicates if you are dehydrated, meaning, in pregnancy, you need medical attention. And who doesn't secretly enjoy PIAR/POASing Wink Seriously, hope you feel better soon, but in the meantime, get to the GP and see if you can get some meds

MrsAVB · 13/05/2013 21:46

Thanks all.
waves you must be so strong to cope with hyperemesis. I rang NHS direct and they advised just to keep an eye on weight loss and urine at the moment, but if either got worse then to go to the GP. I think I'm ok as I'm keeping most of my food and drink down. Am changing my routines so I have time to vom in the morning and not be late for work lol. I think I need to be more positive and remember what it's all for!
X

Hooya · 13/05/2013 23:16

Hello all!

Humpty I'm in Tokyo Smile It's nice to be back, so unusual here as the birth rate is falling and sadly women tend to stop work even when they get married, so I'm the first preggo person I've ever seen in my office! Everyone is being lovely and intrigued about it all Smile

Kitten I'm MASSIVE! I look like I've swallowed a basketball in addition to a good few kilos of general weight gain Blush - it is nice when you pop out though isn't it, if annoying for clothes!

Pineapple that's fab that your DH is getting organised - could you have someone check out the AC unit to make sure? A health and safety person or something?

notso I have a vision of you POASing then shouting "nooooooo" when you got to the last test and had to stop the habit Grin

MrsAVB my sympathies you are sick, it just is no fun at all. I was for a few days until like blondies I found that eating literally hourly made it better though it made me a porker the good news is for most people it does end in a few weeks time...

waves glad you are hanging in there, how's the daily IV going?

frog glad you're well, I left the Sept thread as I'm too slow to keep up and with timezones my catch-ups were taking hours!

I am 22 weeks today Grin anyone else waddling a bit? I am trying to walk normally but I look weird!

Kittenkatzen · 14/05/2013 08:07

Ohhh hooya I've caught myself waddling a little once or twice BlushBlush I'm really not sure I'm genuinely at the waddling stage just yet but I can't help it! Don't think this trapped nerve or whatever it is in my back is helping to be fair though.

On the plus side, I'm starting a Lazy Daisy Birthing class this Friday - anyone done these before? Apparently it's a gentle yoga-based class which also teaches relaxation/breathing/movement techniques for during labour. Elements of hypnobirthing too.

ChildOfThe1980s · 14/05/2013 09:18

Hope you feel better soon MrsAVB Flowers

I'm sure that I'm all waddle now! But not long to go (hopefully).

Hooya that's interesting about women stopping work when they get married. I never pictured Japan as a traditional country.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 14/05/2013 12:12

I walk like a penguin anyhoo so I'm probably waddling loads!
Congrats on 22wks Hooya!

Sounds interesting Kitten, heard of it, not my sort of thing though...hope it's good!

Flowers MrsAVB, hope you feel better soon & haven't had to pull another sicky.

I've got 10 OPK's & 1 pregnancy test left over, I shall do the pg test a few weeks after giving birth to this to make sure I get a BFN..then I'll probably do the opk's to see what my cycle is doing (we're going to be using 'natural' family planning as contraception).

27wks & we're gearing up to shop (not buying much), bit scary as it's making it all a bit more real.

Hope everyone is having a lovely week?

ChildOfThe1980s · 14/05/2013 20:15

I saw my midwife today and baby is engaged. :) She says that I will probably have the baby this week!

Not going to get too excited though, as she can't know for definite surely?

frogchops · 14/05/2013 21:23

I've lost track of how far along everyone is!! I'm 22 weeks on fri, thinking how quickly its gone since 12 weeks!!

Kittenkatzen · 15/05/2013 07:46

gbt 27 weeks - I was sure you were a bit further along than that, thought you were miles ahead of me...

child eeeeeeeeekkkk that's exciting!!! Another fred baby is coming woohoo!

frog I'm 23 weeks tomorrow....it really has flown since 12 weeks hasn't it?! I'm so pleased to have a proper pronounced bump now too, rather than feeling like a slightly chubby imposter! Have even ditched the hideous baby on board badge Smile

wavesandsmiles · 15/05/2013 08:44

Also very excited for child

I'm 29 +1 today. Still fit in a lot of my pre-pg clothes (hipster jeans, tops, dresses) but I think that is largely because I haven't got above my pre-pg weight yet, although I DO have a very real bump, and managed to stabilise my weight loss due to the HG, so I have managed to get back up to the weight I was at booking in.

I don't have to go to hospital daily anymore Grin down to 3 days a week. It is really nice not to have the driving about to be honest. My maternity notes are like a telephone directory now. Next big appointment is at 31 weeks, with my consultant. I see her quite often up on the ward, but it is a proper review and scan of the baby to check growth.

MrsBri · 15/05/2013 09:14

Ah, Child, once you go it's me and Pineapple next. Eek! Good luck :-)

I'm 34+6 today. Not entirely sure where time is going, but I really need to listen to the hypnobirthing CD tired sent me. I've read half the book, which has vaguely helped my nerves, but think the CD definitely needs a listen!

We have antenatal on Saturday. A full day course. Hopefully it'll be of assistance :-)

Waves, that's such good news. Bet it's a relief.

Hi to everyone else!

OP posts:
Pineapple80 · 15/05/2013 09:43

Lovely bump Kitten!!! Smile

Waves, such good news about no more daily hospital, yay!

MrsBri - hope your class goes well this weekend. And my goodness this pregnancy has flown by...I can't believe we're next after Child (Good luck!!!).

We had part 2 of our childbirth ed class last night. Discussed induction, intervention, had at our of birth suite and the rooms where we and baby will stay. All went well and class ended with learning to settle and swaddle baby and a breast feeding DVD was put on. It's weird as it really dawned on me that baby will cry, and cry...and cry. I didn't really think about it till it was discussed last night and now am reading up on settling techniques. I guess it's all practical isn't it and we will have to tackle it when baby arrives!

Have a great day all x
