Can someone explain why we actually have lower back pain?! I just go along in pain thinking its just a pregnancy symptom. But why? It makes no sense in early pregnancy (acceptable in late pregnancy) ...Or am I just being stupid?

Irishfairy · 05/03/2013 19:26

Sorry to hear your news Chickpea, sending positive vibes your way and hope you have some good news in the near future ??

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and the past week exhaustion and food aversion has been at the highest. Can sleep at the drop of a hat (when my toddler will let me that is) and today ate three bowls of different types of cereal and some cream crackers. Have even started to go off hula hoops Shock

How is everyone else doing this evening? I'm with those who mentioned the bloating/protruding stomach, think a shopping trip might be in order to get at least some maternity leggings/tights.

OrangeBlossom2 · 05/03/2013 19:29

My guess at the sore back is ligaments loosening up and carrying around extra weight of boobs and sticky-outy-tummy.

pinksky · 05/03/2013 19:29

Haylebop I'm glad to hear you're out! You must be so relieved.

Re tums, I have a round belly that won't go down/can't be pulled in - it feels quite solid underneath a bit of fat, but I think most of it is bloat! Eating a lot more carbs at the mo.

Hope you get your scan date through soon roxvox - I wouldn't be too reluctant to hassle the MW, sure they wouldn't mind.

pinksky · 05/03/2013 19:32

Oh yes, orange, boobs! Mine are really growing, and pretty sore. I'm going to bite the bullet and buy some new bras.

Sorry you're suffering, Irish - not long til that second trimester!

Irishfairy · 05/03/2013 19:33

slippysnow With regard to pack pain I think this early on the hormone relaxin is already going through our bodies loosening and stretching everything in preparation for the birth, our posture and alignment are having to readjust so even though it's early on I reckon some lower back discomfort is fairly common. I notice it most when I lie down so going to dig my dream genii pregnancy pillow out of storage as it was a godsend last time. Smile

slippysnow · 05/03/2013 19:35

Thanks :) makes more sense. Feel less resentful about it now ;)

ananikifo · 05/03/2013 19:39

Hi, can I join the club?

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, chickpea, and I wish you all the best for next time.

I'm 7 weeks +3 days with my first, due 19th October (I think). My booking in appt is Friday.

I'm currently home sick with a horrible flu, which seems to have brought out the nausea in me. I don't usually get ill like this and I can't help but curse this pregnant immune system! I've been feeling great until now but this bug has hit me like a ton of bricks. I can't get over the irrational fear that work will figure out I'm pregnant because I've taken sick days. It doesn't even make sense as a fear. It's not like they can do anything about it and obviously I have to tell them eventually.

Are hula hoops a typical pregnancy craving? I've been craving tart/refreshing/sweet things like starburst candies and cranberry juice. Things like that seem to cut through to nasty taste in my mouth. Anyone else?

Feelinghungry · 05/03/2013 19:41

Really sorry to hear your news Chickpea. You have a great outlook. Big fingers crossed you will be back on one of these buses in no time Thanks.

Only 6.5 weeks but serious bloating is making me look/feel a whole lot more. Sore boobs are seeming less sore, but I guess that comes and goes.
No sore back issues tho. I am still having the odd v mild AF type cramps, sometimes quite sharp. Anyone else experiencing this?

JellyCurls · 05/03/2013 19:54

littlechick I am sending you and your DP all my healing thoughts and best wishes for the future. Your positive outlook will get you both through this difficult time. I hope it won't be long till your on another 9 month journey. Best of luck x

cazboldy · 05/03/2013 20:04

Can only say the same as the other's chickpea - you are very brave, and fingers crossed it will be your turn soon xxxx

racheld33 · 05/03/2013 20:05

chickpea lots of love and fun making your next little chickpea and please let us know how you get on Wine

pinkbuttons · 05/03/2013 20:11

So sorry to hear your news chickpea sending positive thoughts and please do come back and let us know how your getting on.
With regards to back painorange, as irish said relaxin is already loosening ligaments which means your back and core muscles will be working harder (good excuse for a massage from any willing DP's) It also means your more at risk of disc injuries so if you are suffering be careful with yourselves, its one of the reasons its suggested not to lift heavy things while pregnant.
I dislocated my knee just after having DS apparently because of the relaxin still in my body. Crazy!
ana sorry your ill i hope someones looking after you. Try not to worry about work, its not the end of the world if they do find out? but equally your allowed to be sick! Hope your feeling much better soon. Also with DS I had sour cravings like you, alot of my friends had salty cravings though and am guessing thats the hula hoops thing Smile wonder if it has anything to do with gender??

34PinkLadyApple · 05/03/2013 20:30

Sorry chickpea that this one didnt stick. You seem to have a brilliant attitude about it and have reasoned that it happened for the best as nature only lets the fittest survive. I hope i would be as strong as you should it happen to me. Glad you are planning to get back on a bus soon too. Sending lots of extra sticky baby dust your way. You and ur OH take care x

I had booking appointment today at exactly ten weeks. Had blood taken, three tubes full, blood pressure done, record book filled in, free prescription form filled in, signed up for downs/nuchal test at the scan in two weeks and booked 16 week appointment! Phew. Only thing was when she asked about symptoms and i said no sickness, just achey boobs, veiny skin and tiredness, she said, 'oh yes, that feeling that every ounce of energy is being sapped from you?' I said 'No, not that bad at all'. She really harped on about how draining it is and i started to worry as no sickness either. Dumb pregnant emotional wreck that i am! Maybe because i dint have any other DCs and i have a desk job and sleep at least 7 hours a night??!! Is anyone else not too exausted?

By the way, not overly taken with the midwife ive been given, seems a bit fuddy duddy and serious. Not much personality, just didnt take to her but we'll see.

Sorry for long meeeeee post, hes watching the footy so am trying to amuse myself whilst reassure myself! Ooh, half time cuppa. Spk soon

ananikifo · 05/03/2013 20:33

It's nice to hear that someone had similar cravings to me. You had sour cravings with a boy? Do you gave them again now? DH would love it if we were having a boy, although he's coming around to the idea of a girl. I think he's afraid he doesn't know how to act around little girls, but I'm sure when it's your own child it doesn't matter.

Also, for the stats, I'm 28.

ananikifo · 05/03/2013 20:35

Sorry that was a reply to pinkbuttons

34PinkLadyApple · 05/03/2013 20:42

Oh pink! I have knees which have dislocated 4 times before pregnant. Hope it doesnt happen again?! I cant bear anything to do with bones being in the wrong place Sad

Rockchick1984 · 05/03/2013 20:58

Orange some clothes in a bigger size than normal are actually a very good idea - remember you will get use out of them on the way up before maternity clothes, and again on the way down after having the baby! I know there's some people on here who claim to have been back in their pre-pregnancy jeans within a week, but in real life the quickest anyone I know managed it was 8 weeks (and she barely gained any weight) and after a few weeks it just feels depressing to still be wearing maternity clothes with a saggy bit that used to house your bump!

Re cravings, I wanted savoury stuff constantly when pregnant with DS - bacon sandwiches got me through the first trimester, and chocolate knocked me sick! Craving sweet stuff this time, so will find out in 12 weeks time if cravings have predicted the sex for me...

pinkbuttons · 05/03/2013 20:59

Ouch pink I feel for you! Once was enough for me, DS was 3 months old and had to breastfeed him to sleep before going to the hospital. Ridiculous the things you'll do for your children! It only happened after he was born I was running down the stairs, I guess its a case of just being more careful with yourself. And Im afraid Im completely exhausted but have a 2 yr old, am trying to finish a physio degree and keep on top of housework and failing miserably so am exhausted most of the time anyway Smile
ana this time Im just craving yoghurt think its the sweetness but without making me sick, not sure but am eating about 5 a day Blush at least I know Im getting enough calcium... My DH was like that last time but has decided he would quite like a girl now, I found having a boy quite daunting nappy wise and being afraid of hurting him so I guess its just the same not knowing what your doing.

chickieno1 · 05/03/2013 21:00

so sorry to hear your news chickpea. Sending you lots of positive vibes.

TheFalconsmistress · 05/03/2013 21:02

Went out to eat with friends tonight it was nice to leave the house they were so lovely with me too. I also got my hair cut but in general I have still been feeling rough and extremely tired.

chickpea I am so sorry for your loss. I had your attitude too when I lost my little bean before but I should have grieved instead sorry if I am out of line for saying this everyone's different but I was deeply effected and tried to have a stiff upper lip dust yourself down attitude when I should have took time to grieve. Its OK is all I am saying to feel like you have lost them.

char1eston · 05/03/2013 21:02

Good luck littlechickpea - sending you lots of positive vibes

Glad you're out of hospital haylebop - must be nice to be home

I have a recommendation to anyone craving tart drinks - San pellegrino limonata - amazing Wink

chickieno1 · 05/03/2013 21:09

still tired and nauseous here but main problems are still bloating and constipation. It s really getting me down actually as quite uncomfortable and now I feel quite low and irritable. Feel bad about that too :(

Sal1977 · 05/03/2013 21:45

Pinkladyapple - I'm the same as you! Yeah I could snooze on the sofa in front of the telly in the evening, but not every day. I get about 9 hours a night, work from home and not overly busy as no kiddiwinkles yet, so I guess that's why (either that or we're just hard as nails!) Wink

No MS either. Tender boobs come and go. Feel very unpregnant really. I have been very emotional though and convinced there is nothing in my belly at all! If I definitely knew that everything was OK, I could relax and be very smug about the whole thing!!

cuillereasoupe · 05/03/2013 22:02

Sorry to hear your news chickpea.
