Very early days yet but there must be a couple of others somewhere?

I wrote a huge post earlier and it disappeared!!!

I am consultant led and there didn't seem to be much negotiation when I was told however I am not too unhappy with this. I understand why - I had an emc last time and also had oc. This time if I get oc again they will want me to give birth earlier I think and induction is not an option due to my previous c section. So i would have to go into labour early which is not very likely! So I kind of feel like elective section is my only option at the moment. Can I say I want a vbac and then change my plans if I develop oc? I'm not sure how that works - last time I was midwife led and had planned to give birth in the midwife unit then the dreaded itch started! And all my plans were up in the air! Grin

My symptoms are getting worse. I felt awful today - felt sick all day, had a pounding headache and still running to the loo with diorrhea. I felt so unwell and it wasn't helped by the fact that I was up at 4 am with my dh who had an early flight. Feel like my last pregnancy had only 1 symptoms - tiredness and felt sick all day....maybe I'm having a boy!

I love hearing birth stories though it does scare me too. I was induced last time but did not progress quickly enough and dd became distressed so had an emc in the end. For the first timers I can honestly say that despite my plans going to pot I had a lovely labour, it's bloody sore but just bearable. I had great hospital care. Williamina i think I may be quite near you - the queen mums is closed now isn't it?

williaminajetfighter · 12/03/2013 05:42

Hi harverina.

I was in Glasgow when I gave birth now in Oxford but still have place up there and hoping to give birth there. (I often post on MN about how much I am hating Oxford. It is an overpriced, underwhelming village!)

Yes Queen Mums no longer does maternity so it's either the royal infirmary in G1 or the southern which is more modern but bigger and a bit 'sterile'. Are you in Glasgow or just west of Scotland?

BangOn · 12/03/2013 06:37

i've had one hospital birth & one homebirth. huge contrast in recovery time & how i felt afterwards mentally. however, i'm lucky in that i was considered low-risk enough for a hb.

we've now moved to an area where everyone raves about the local mlu * maternity department at the local hospital, so i haven't ruled out either scrnario.

feels way too early to be thinking about all this. - i haven't even told my GP!

getoffthecoffeetable · 12/03/2013 07:40

Having to stand up on the train into work after another restless night. Am I the only one who wants to scream at the carriage for someone to stand up and give me their seat as I'm pregnant lol.
Had a ding dong with DH this morning as I got up with DS at 5.45 and wanted him to take over at 6.30 so I could go back to bed for ten minutes, he refused and went back to sleep! He finally got up at 6.50 so I went back to bed only for DS to come and jump on me after five mins. I wasn't impressed.
DH seems to think that as I went to bed two hours before him it evens itself out - have told him that two people need double the amount of sleep, he's not convinced!

Dizzy81 · 12/03/2013 08:29

Wokeup this morning and all symptoms vanished agin. Want to cry, as paranoid jellybeans not growing. I've got my scan in two weeks and I supposebim preparing myself for the worst. Godim such a worry wart.

Hope everyone's ok.

Sorry for being negative.

Theicingontop · 12/03/2013 08:34

Please try not to worry, Dizzy. There's no typical first trimester, every pregnancy is different, lessening symptoms aren't necessarily an indication that something is wrong. I feel absolutely fine today! No nausea, nothing.

Let the fact that you've had some symptoms reassure that something's going on in there Smile

Dizzy81 · 12/03/2013 08:37

Thank you theicing. I'm a natural worrier and like to have control over things!

Im seeing a dr tomorrow so will talk through all my concerns.

Theicingontop · 12/03/2013 08:48

I get it though, I used to turn up for my midwife appointments an absolute mess because I'd convinced myself the baby had stopped moving and they wouldn't find a heartbeat.

The midwife gave me her number in the end and told me to call if any time I wanted to hear his heartbeat to give me peace of mind. I never did because having her number and knowing I could hear it anytime made me feel so much better, I didn't worry so much.

Things will get easier x

MTB82 · 12/03/2013 08:52

Dizzy I'm exactly the same, everything seems to have disappeared and feeling really worried. I think we just have to remember that there really isn't anything we can do and we can't change anything, so we just have to be patient and hope that everything is fine. Easier said than done I know. Hang in there!!

harverina · 12/03/2013 09:25

With my first pregnancy I had lots of days with no symptoms then they would come back, and everything worked out ok. Because it was my first time I didn't question it or worry about it. Totally understand your worry when symptoms change or stop but I think it's also fairly normal too.

Dizzy81 · 12/03/2013 10:43

thank you all, had a wobble at work and they've made me call the DR - especially as I'm getting numbness in my arms and my shoulder has started to hurt - think this is more to do with how I sit at my desk more than anything.

Dr is going to call me back.

blueseashore · 12/03/2013 10:45

oh no dizzy my symptoms seem to have disappeared too, know how horrible the worrying is... have done lots of frantic googling and its not always bad news. Agree with what Mt said really hard to do but the only thing to do is try to be patient and hope. Worry won't change anything and statistically the chances are v good.

blueseashore · 12/03/2013 10:45

x-post, hope the doc is helpful, keep us posted x

getoffthecoffeetable · 12/03/2013 10:46

Good luck with the doctor dizzy let us know what he says.
It sounds like your work are being supportive which is really nice

Fairydogmother · 12/03/2013 10:47

O poor you dizzy

Hope the Gp helps

MummaPanda · 12/03/2013 10:51

Dizzy I had weird shoulders with my first pregnancy, I put it down to the hormones your body releases to stretch out your ligaments

RubyWindsor · 12/03/2013 11:24

Hope GP helps Dizzy, let us know xx

Dizzy81 · 12/03/2013 11:51

Thank you all, dr called said its normal but have an appointment later today.

bluesea and mt I must stop googling!! I'm slightly worried as 6months ago dh had a really bad case of dysentery and was on chemo anti biotics! And if here was a problem I'd nt have conceived

blueseashore · 12/03/2013 12:11

glad they're fitting you in today, dizzy. one thing i thought about is about the numb fingers, i get them when I'm stressed - i.e. basically because not breathing deeply enough. Obv yours might not be the same but just a thought! I had carpal tunnel syndrome with DD and also got numb hands and shooting pains, really hope for you its just hormones and not that but if it is then mine was bearable if I wore wrist splints at night and then went completely post birth.

blueseashore · 12/03/2013 12:13

and getoffthecoffeetable, i agree re the train and early pregnancy - its when i feel i need a seat most but obv can't say anything! Boo re rubbish start to the day. How old is DS?

Dizzy81 · 12/03/2013 12:17

Thank you, I feel soo neurotic, one minute really happy and the next right as rain. As I broke down at my desk, the team I work with wanted to know what Was wrong, I had 6 emails when I got back to my dek. They all now know and one guy who's dd daughters due in may, gave me a hug and said its only going to get worse kiddo. Made m smile.

My gp is really good, i fear i will have them on a friends and family package soon.

MTB82 · 12/03/2013 12:18

I finally gave up being patient with waiting for a letter from the midwife and gave them a call to chase up. Really glad I did as I got to tell them about my holiday dates and they said they'd make sure they avoid them and will try to see if the can squeeze my booking appt in before I go. She said she thinks my scan will be around the 15th apr bit I should get exact appts through by end of week. Such a relief when it feels like stuff is moving!!!

Dizzy81 · 12/03/2013 12:36

Good for you mtb82. I don't blame you for chasing them and kicking some butt.

getoffthecoffeetable · 12/03/2013 13:45

Good for you MTB. I've not had a call from MW yet about booking in appointment but I know they only go to my GP surgery on a Wednesday so am hoping for a call tomorrow. Have bought aCB digital test to check the weeks are moving on.
blue my DS has just turned two. It's such a lovely age, he keeps giving me cuddles and kisses spontaneously, he's adorable -my totally unbiased opinion!--
