Thanks for that rockchick, I will look that up on amazon. My Pilates teacher knew we were ttc and said I can continue with her to 4 months only as she is not trained in prenatal Pilates so that might be useful for me to do on my own later on.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 24/02/2013 13:02

I've ordered tracy andersons pregnancy project. I used her last year and list 3 stone so she must know her stuff!

juniper9 · 24/02/2013 13:04

I don't know about the other teachers, but I planned a September birth. I just wasn't expecting my plan to work!

The September bus is full of teachers too- it makes sense to do babies now. They'll be some of the oldest in the year and we can take nearly a year off on maternity, go back in July and then have the summer holiday paid! Not that I'm calculating...

CelticPromise · 24/02/2013 13:07

Morning Euro and SoupQueen. Another lawyer here, criminal defence and very part time currently.

delilahbelle · 24/02/2013 13:15

Just had my daily vom. It's amazing, I have gone from nauseated and wanting to die to actually feeling ok and a bit hungry.

TMI, but when I was younger/enjoyed a drink or ten I would use a tactical vomit (aka fingers down throat) if I overdid it but wanted to keep partying. I am actually wondering whether this technique will work with morning sickness. Might give it a go tomorrow morning, have something bland and liquidy, sick it up, and see if that keeps the nausea at bay a bit better.

HotSoupDumpling · 24/02/2013 13:49

Another lawyer here.

Delilah, that gives me hope that I'll feel better when I start vomming (currently just retching).

I'm trying to keep up pilates, but have simply too exhausted the past few weekend. I refuse to feel guilty!

FeministInTraining · 24/02/2013 13:51

Juniper I never thought of that, just planned to go back in Sept Hmm
Last pg was due in August and I did think I hope they push my dates back a bit so I got into September!

delilahbelle · 24/02/2013 13:53

Vomiting is not all that - I think I've pulled a stomach muscle. Joy. Off to my parents for a cup of tea and catch up, still not sure whether to tell them or wait until the 12 week scan. My mum will be thrilled, but she can be a bit over dramatic at times too... Might make DH tell her!

TDD32 · 24/02/2013 14:01

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all well today.

Rox, thank you for moving my stats to the right place. Only joined Mumsnet yesterday and wasn't really sure what I was doing.. Maybe I can start blaming my "baby brain"? Or is it too early to get away with that one? Ha ha. Also read your note regarding going for the promotion. Hope you don't mind me commenting but if I were you I would definitely go for it. The business can cope for a while when you are on maternity and they can replace you if you choose not to go back. My view, if you are right for the position then the business will not have an issue with your pregnancy. And you don't need to tell anyone about the pregnancy till you are ready. I have a similar dilemma as I am mid renegotiating my contract and I have no intentions of telling work. I am fully capable of delivering results pregnant or not.

Char1eston, September was a mistake. Our EDD is October. Hey at least you have twice as many ladies to speak with flitting between the September and October trains.

OrangeBlossom2, I hadn't gone to they gym for about 4 months and I too wasn't sure whether I could go back. Having spoken to a few people, doing some research and speaking to my gym, I went back today. The advice is basically you can spin/cycle (up right bike) till you get your bump, then spinning stops and you need to move onto reclined bike. Step is out of bounds apparently, all that jumping. I have been told to build the muscles in my lower and upper back, shoulders, gluteals and back/front thighs. This is to help cope with the baby bump weight. No training which entails some sort of forward crunch (sit ups etc. are allowed apparently). I can continue in the gym till about 7 months before moving into the pool (swims, runs etc.). Maybe you could speak to your doctor/MW/gym and see what they say.

Does anyone know if it's ok for us to eat shop bought pre cooked and sliced chicken breast? Thanks

doobeedee · 24/02/2013 14:03

Hi everyone. Another teacher here too. I joined the thread at the beginning then chickened out but had an early scan today which has made me feel brave enough to start posting again. Scan measured me at 8+2 which gives me a due date of 4th Oct which is also my birthday!

Soupqueen · 24/02/2013 14:16

Lol, hotsoupdumpling, it's not just our soupy names we have in common!

It's March birthdays that are the oldest in the school year here (Scotland), October is quite young for the year.

I don't know if anyone else is missing the odd drink, but I'm currently enjoying a Becks Blue (alcohol free) while watching the rugby. It's really nice, think it will be very refreshing in summer. Now if only I could find a wine substitute.....

TheFalconsmistress · 24/02/2013 14:40

Its a good game! Pity our possession is poor but I think we are on for an attacking second half soupqueen

Soupqueen · 24/02/2013 14:41

TheFalconsmistress · 24/02/2013 14:56

Feelinghungry · 24/02/2013 15:25

Haha Delliah that made me chuckle your tactile vomit in your younger days, I think we used to call it tc (tactile chunder!). Hope it helps you somehow with your ms.

Thanks for sharing the DM article Euro I've always liked Nell McAndrew (er and reading the DM online Blush) it's great to think you can still continue to exercise way into a pregnancy.

Feelinghungry · 24/02/2013 15:28

Tactical not tactile! Stupid i phone

chickieno1 · 24/02/2013 16:00

Hi everyone!
Trying to catch up on everyones news, symptoms and work dillemmas......

Nose bleeding (and bleeding gums) all normal in pregnancy unfortunately. Has to do with the effect of progesterone on your blood vessels. Likewise constipation and bloating. That was my first symptom and started thinking I better do a test after I started feeling really bloated. I've no cures but I remember drinking prune juice last time which was vile :( You can mix it with orange or apple juice though which might be better???? I might try dried prunes or apricots this time and see how that goes? Anyone else have any suggestions ......

Roxvox I would go for the job. Also the idea about finding out what the payrise would be and then checking out local nursery prices is a very good one. It is better to be secure in your job before going on mat leave than trying to sort things out when you come back and are trying to deal with new baby too (speaking from experience)

I won't even start about my work (lack of work) issues now as verrrrrry long story.

Hope everyone is having a restful sunday!

I must try and put my stats on the list....

CelticPromise · 24/02/2013 16:06

Soupqueen I am a big fan of Waitrose low alcohol cider for rugby days! My 'treat' drink instead of wine is elderflower cordial and tonic. I also read a idea on here somewhere which was to have a glass of tonic with ice and lemon, dip a finger in gin and run it round the rim of the glass.

Good win for Scotland!

Soupqueen · 24/02/2013 16:48

I'll have to look out for that, celticpromise.

Great result for Scotland - its not often we're undeserving winners!

OrangeBlossom2 · 24/02/2013 16:50

Thanks TDD. Hmm my gp said carry on everything as before but didn't ask what exercise that was. Perhaps I will give step classes a miss then and will definitely go for a pregnancy focused induction if I do rejoin a gym to see what they advise.

Sal1977 · 24/02/2013 16:54

Just had my booking in appointment (in the luxury if my own sitting room no less) and asked the MW about booze. She said that one or two glasses of wine/beer/cider etc a week is absolutely fine. It also says it in the massive pack that you get given.

If anyone is a pear cider drinker, koperberg do a 0% version which is loads cheaper than the normal stuff as well! Xx

TheFalconsmistress · 24/02/2013 17:01

Thanks for that sal I love pear cider Grin

Yey on scotlands win was a nice surprise Smile

pinksky · 24/02/2013 17:19

How nice to have your booking in appt at home, Sal Smile

chickieno1 I'd be very interested in any tips for bloating/constipation too. I'm drinking heaps of water and cut down on sugar and salt. I also suffer from GORD so trying to get my diet right now, before my reflux flares.

Thanks for asking about work, roxvox. It's going to be difficult--a new boss from next month and I'll be sole researcher on a 24 month project, so going to have to arrange cover for half of that. It's not great in terms of securing a new contract at the end either, but we'll.

Have a chilled Sunday all X

Natalieand · 24/02/2013 17:30
