Yep - all kinds of issues Trust. I was considering investing in some braces to keep them up, clown style! But this pair, touch wood, seem to be holding up so far - and I've got a couple of H&M Mama ones to try out too.

Ooh yes, would like to hear what pram/pushchair/travel system people are getting and why as I still keep wavering. Current favourites are Bugaboo Bee (seems to have everything we want but quite £ and read some forums saying it looks like hospital/mobility equipment and can't get that out my head now!!) and Cosatto Giggle (looks great but not managed to view it in person yet and am worried it might be a bit crappy in terms of quality).

Congrats on the successful scans and name choosing!

BB01 · 01/03/2013 13:29

Not that there's anything wrong with hospital/mobility equipment, but that's not why I'm buying it!

Hai1988 · 01/03/2013 13:41

Well im choosing the Jane muum matrix system because well the review on the link i posted say it all really just sounds brill and in my price range, looks great too :)

dinkystinky · 01/03/2013 13:48

Looked at bugaboo bee BB01 but my concern were the wheels look abit rickety and I'm pretty sure the baby would have mostly outgrown it by the age of 2.

Have a good think about how you will use the pushchair (do you need a travel system or will you walk/use public transport? Do you want parent facing or not? Will you have shopping to put under it? Do you need to carry it up stairs so need something light?), who will use it (you, DH - does it need to be extendible handles?) and where you'll keep it (is space/weight a factor?) and go take a look at them and have a good push around. Try putting them up and down too. The reason I went for BJCV is that its got a huge basket, can be travel system and, wonder of wonders, is actually an easy one hand fold.

hai we are having a girl. When we were thinking of names for ds, we had it ready months before and felt so sure about it. So now I feel like if I dont feel that strongly about a name its not right! Oh well, I have till july to figure it out...

I am v confused still re pushchairs... Need a double, amd I want a side by side as seats look bigger. We are both tall, as is ds, so he is already almost too big for a lot of the tandems Ive seen. Like the look of mountain buggy duet, trying to find a second hand one. Love the bugaboo donkey, trying to see if I can find a second hand one at somewhat reasonable price. Like e fact that baby can face me, ive only just started putting ds facing forward at 18 months...

Beginningofthejourney · 01/03/2013 14:14

Thanks trust
Think I'm going to get the maxi cosi Elea, mainly because someone is giving me the car seat and carry cot and it folds small (hence my dreams about car boots!)
God this afternoon is dragging another 45 mins until I can leave for scan! Smile

Thinkingof4 · 01/03/2013 14:21

esme I still have ds3 facing me and he is 21 months Blush it means we ca talk more so i just prefer it. People might think I'm a loon but never mind.
If you do get a mb duet and use with a carseat then baby would be facing you in that. I used mine like that mostly for school run etc and just had him flat facing away for longer trips. There is a window in hood so you can still see their wee faces

hai how lovely you are having a wee girl and having a name picked already! We are so far off picking names at the moment.

mightbemad I hope you are feeling better by now. My GP phoned me at home last night as he was a bit worried he should have admitted me, but I'm definitely a bit better now. It's sooo tiring though I think I'll sleep all weekend and hopefully feel back to normal after that

Ellie is it today you are meeting cleft palate team? Hope it goes well

totally ,beginning and anyone else with scans today good luck, hope they go well

As I said I'm a bit better in terms of no more vomiting but struggling to eat much. All I had yesterday was a bit of toast and that's all I've had so far today but I think I'll try something else now. I just have ds2 with me today as others all well enough for school/childminder and he's at a similar stage to me, drinking ok but not eating much and no energy. He's practically watching ice age series on loop (apart from no3 which has scary dinosaurs!)

dinkystinky · 01/03/2013 14:30

good luck for your scan Beginning. Glad you're feeling better Thinking.

photographerlady · 01/03/2013 14:40

thinking sorry you have so much sickness :(

BB01 I went for the silvercross 3D, why? because it was 75 quid never used from a lady that couldn't fit it in her small boot. I decided for cost to get a inexpensive pram as I hope to be a sling wearing mom. I have a close parent sling and a baby bjorn carrier for my husband.

About tights I am wearing M&S mat tights which stay up fine at the moment and comfortable. I also have a pair of normal tight from Evans that are just 2 sizes bigger than I normally would need and they work a treat.

Sugarkane Welcome!

totally and beginnning have a great scan :)

Devilforasideboard my legs have no hope on the dry skin front, my arms are also suffering now. Sadly I think I am focusing more on my belly and the whole stretchmark in waiting thing. I am on a morning palmers cocoa butter and evening bio oil routine.

whitedaffodil · 01/03/2013 14:42

well, just to balance out all the pink we had our scan this morning and it's definitely a blue one. Really excited now, "he" seems much more real than "it" did before, especially as my bump seems to come and go! It was pretty obvious on the scan actually so those whose PCTs don't tell but who definitely want to know, you could ask them to pause on that area and have a look yourself!

No names yet, am so impressed with all of you who've chosen not one but two names already :-)

devil me too on the dry skin - I am shedding constantly and put it down to the central heating and baby "sucking up" all the good fats. Have been trying to up my intake of nuts, olive oil etc. to compensate (but not on the basis of real scientific evidence of benefit, just thought it might help since I seem to have an all-over dandruff thing happening).

photographerlady · 01/03/2013 14:54

hows everyone doing on movement? Seems like I haven't really had any which makes my scan seem so far away (its monday). I keep trying to have a quite sit down and see if I feel anything but sadly no bubbles, butterflies or anything :(

20+4

photographerlady · 01/03/2013 14:55

p.s. congrats on the blue whitedaffodil!

whitedaffodil · 01/03/2013 15:32

hi photographer I have noticed it most when I do some stretches - down on all fours and gently arching and straightening my back. it does feel like bubbles, but quite low down. You could give that a go?

The doctor at FMC said this morning that it isn't kicking we feel yet, it's the baby's body or head as it moves and it still has a lot of space. The legs etc are apparently still quite small/light.

whitedaffodil · 01/03/2013 15:33

thank you Smile

elliejjtiny · 01/03/2013 15:53

With prams I'm looking at something like this for DS3 and then
this to attatch it to DS2's wheelchair. I'll have DC4 in a stretchy wrap sling and I've also got my battered old phil and teds for when DS2 is at school that I can put DS3 and DC4 in. Hopefully by the time DC4 is getting too heavy to be carried easily then DS3 will be walking more. Still got to convince DH who thinks I should carry DS3 on my back and DC4 on my front, not that he would ever do that Hmm

Saw the cleft team today. Everyone was really nice, even the ones who were dentists Grin. We were shown some before and after surgery photos and reassured that although on the scan it looks like our babies nose is about to fall off at any moment it's actually very firmly attatched! The surgeon told us about various famous people who were born with clefts as well. Felt really positive after. Only negative thing was that we will need to stay on the postnatal ward for a little while after birth (24h or so) to make sure feeding is going ok. Personally I'd rather do the bleeding through my pj's and newborn screaming all night in the comfort of my own home but I'm hoping that as I've done expressing etc before I'll be allowed to escape a bit earlier.

Abzs · 01/03/2013 15:53

whitedaffodil I did try looking, but Small was laying on its front and wiggling like a wiggly worm, so no chance.

I did comment that the outline of the skull with big eye sockets made it look like a terminator. A little one obviously, with a wee round belly.

On the pram front, my DB has offered us his Silvercross Sleepover. DNephew is 16months and has outgrown it with his big long legs (wears age 2-3 trousers). DH doesn't like the idea of using a pram, lugging it about in the car etc. He got a sling already, but I have vetoed him trying it out on the cat. We're also looking at getting an Osprey backpack carrier for when Small is 6months plus, if I can get a deal on one from work.

dinkystinky · 01/03/2013 16:05

Glad you had a good scan and congrats on the blue bump White daffodil and glad you had a good appointment with the team Ellie. A 24 hour post natal stay should hopefully fly by - with any luck feeding will go well and they will let you go home early.

I've seen the cosatto giggle in use and wheels are very small and not that great and if you want to put more than a pint of milk and your changing bag in it gravity issues deploy BB01

AmaDablam · 01/03/2013 16:21

Congratulations to all those who have had good scans!

thinking glad you are feeling a bit better and esme glad you had a positive appointment with the cleft team.

Hi photographer - another Monday scan person! I know it's easy to say when I have been feeling something, but please try not to worry about no movements yet. According to what you read it's not all that unusual and no cause for alarm. Interestingly whitedaffodil mine is usually higher up, near my belly button. They are really, really light though - sometimes I do wonder if I am imagining them! Interesting to think the baby may actually be headbutting me - I didn't know that about the kicks.

Thanks for all the small bump reassurance - been getting a lot of that in RL as well. It's nothing to do with a long torso though dinky - I'm a very average 5' 5" and actually have disproportionately long legs, meaning my torso is more like a fairly petite person's. My latest theory is that instead of growing outwards, my baby is growing inwards and making itself a nice little nest in my intestines. That would certainly explain the contant stomach ache/discomfort I've had over the past few days - which if I'm honest is the main reason for my latest anxieties. Roll on Monday!

Have a great weekend everyone.

PhieEl06 · 01/03/2013 16:32

If anyone has the time or can be bothered to recommend a few good prams/travel systems I could have a look at it'd be very grateful, keep trying to look but the more I look the more I don't like & just get angry & give up. Ordered our Maxi Cosi Cabriofix & base yesterday as Mothercare have got a bit of a good deal on. Just being really vain with prams, don't like anything that looks plasticy (frame) or like polyester (seat & covers etc.) which really limits my options unfortunately, the only one I really like is the Mamas & Papas Urbo but have read such bad reviews! Sad I'm such a typical clueless first-timer

Ellie great to hear you were so reassured by the cleft team today, one of the lads I work with had a cleft palette & lip & like a previous poster said all that is noticeable now is a faint silvery line. I'm sure you will get the best of care!

Also congratulations to all on their scans, 4ish more days till mine. 19+6

Hai1988 · 01/03/2013 16:36

Congratulations on your boy whitedaffodil :)

Glad you had a positive appointment today ellie

Good luck for your scan begining and anyone else having scans today and next week :)

Movements still small and far between here but been told in scan i have an anterior placenter which is protecting me from the kicks atm, so you may be the same photographer so try not to worry im sure theyll happen soon :)
Is this your first? cus they tend to come later with first babys anyway.

dinkystinky · 01/03/2013 16:40

Phie - you want Tiggywunkle on the pushchairs thread - she seems to be some kind of pram guru!

Ama - I remember there is someone else on the thread with a tilted uterus so maybe you can compare and contrast symptoms with them. But hopefully the scan on Monday will reassure you all is as it should be.

Gingerpanther, thank you - this is really useful to know.
Thank you for all the pram tips. Sorry same issue again with forgetting names and on phone so can't scroll back now! One of my worries with the bee is about them growing out of it but would rather have to buy new pushchair due to that than that I bought a really big heavy one. I really want one as small and light as possible but one that can really look and feel like a pram! Find a lot of people's recommendations look great but just too big for my lifestyle. Am also planning on baby wearing as much as can but get v sore shoulders so even comfortable carrier or sling would be only for limited time. Plus we're getting given almost every baby item under the sun second hand by our families and friends (very lucky) and the pram is being bought for us new as a present so that's the only reason am not getting one second hand! Jane ones look great but think were all a bit big (our car boot is diddy too!) or there was some other reason had to cross it off the list!!

BB01 · 01/03/2013 16:49

Ellie sounds like your appointment was mostly v positive.

Re movement I was getting so worried about lack of it then one day after scan baby went crazy with the kicking and although bit on and off it's been happening pretty much daily since then. So please don't worry too much. It happens at different times for different people. Also with some people you may find you have anterior placenta like I did so movement not always so early on or easily felt
