Oh dear shelly not good timing. I feel for you.

I had another scan today, baby is approx. 5lb and is sideways on which is quite bizarre. Doesn't matter to me though as long as I get my c section approved in a fortnight!

Not sleeping at all well. Have major pressure on the bladder and then have horrible back pain at about 4am each morning which means I cant get back to sleep...

Less than four weeks before my parents fly back from the States though on a more positive note Smile.

DXBMermaid · 02/04/2013 19:37

Shelly, sending a hug! Will your DP be on night shifts around your edd as well? Could he not switch?

My next ante-natal class is all about feeding. Looking foward to getting some good tips and happy to find out that lady who teaches the class is a lactation consultant as well.

My stomach felt very uncomfortable this afternoon. I don't think it was contractions as it was rather high up and it went away again but whatever it was it hurt!

Seeing chiro again tomorrow. Getting a bit anxious about what position to give birth in as I can not imagine myself squatting, not lying on my back. Am most comfortable on my side but unsure if that is a good position to give birth in????

shelly81 · 02/04/2013 19:40

Thanx ladies ... He does alternate shifts dbx nights and days but he is only 15 minutes away if I did go into labour when he isn't here ..... Once this first set is over with ill be fine ha xx

berri · 02/04/2013 20:46

Hi everyone!

Been ages since I've managed to make it on here - we have a family staying with us at the mo for 2 weeks (so much for a relaxing last few weeks!) so it's been a bit hectic. DS is loving having 2 more playmates though Smile

MooLL I'm sorry to read about your trip! I hope you're comfortable? I had my DS at 32 weeks at Kingston and the docs/nicu were fantastic. Have you already been for a look around the nicu? Say hi to Pauline from me Smile

Hope everyone else is doing ok, will try to keep up a bit more! Home stretch now ladies!!

Aaarggghhhh - can't get to flipping sleep Confused
Am shattered but just can't turn my brain off - poss because I'm considering going into work tomorrow to clear some things up & do exit interview for my apprentice Hmm

Plus, c-section is 1 week tomorrow (today I guess now), and the closer it's getting, the more scared & anxious I am.

Bunnychan · 03/04/2013 05:56

elly I feel your pain! My LO has woke me up dancing these last two nights between 4 & 5 am. I'm awake and now I'm starving! Thank god it's the Easter hols so I can nap later. Can't believe your c-section is so close; I suppose the May babies are going to start coming soon :-) x

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/04/2013 06:07

Elly I haven't slept either.Have had strong braxton hicks all night and my spd is agony.Plus a weird shooting/ sore pain in my vagina which has caused me to get up about ten times for a wee.

Ahh its understandable to be anxious. But this time next week you will soon be holding your baby.It must be strange knowing the date.I will be shocked if mine arrives on or after 16th may as my dates from last period on my mind put me due at 10 th May.Ive never disagreed the date before.Hmm time will tell

ng1412 · 03/04/2013 07:33

Me neither on the sleep front. Back pain, bladder problems, restless legs. Have 4 more weeks if this, struggling to cope now. God knows how I will get through....

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/04/2013 08:13

I have 6 weeks left. I'm worried about poor Dp as I'm keeping him awake every night. He worked a 13 hr day yesterday.

ng1412 · 03/04/2013 08:15

Beaut have you got a spare bedroom you could move into temporarily?

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/04/2013 08:52

No spare room. When we move to the new house we will have a sofa bed downstairs. So I will use that. We all have tummy cramps this morning so not sure if coming down with a tummy bug.

I think a lot of it is because I feel unsettled and my mind is so active at night. Thinking about house move, baby and getting nervous for my driving test Smile

Wirrawoo · 03/04/2013 09:15

Hope you got some sleep in the end elly... That's so exciting that your Baby will be with you soon. Yay!
Sorry to hear about all the aches and pains. Now that I'm not working every day have started really getting going with the pregnancy yoga DVD and can recommend to relieve hip pain, back pain, swollen feet... it is totally helping me... Was in large amounts of pain in the mornings and now considerably less sore the last 2 nights.
Hey whoever it was asking about labour positions, we got given a sheet of various labour positions at NCT last night, so maybe if you look on their website you will be able to see it with pictures & explanations. There are a lot of options to choose from! The class last night was really useful actually. Didn't know that tilting your hips for a few contractions can help if the baby is getting stuck. Didn't know that full squatting increases likelihood of tear, also got shown some cool tricks that DP can do with a pashmina type scarf to help support me during 1st stage of labour. She gave us tips about the optimum time to have Diamorphine too if you are going to have it. Came out wired with loads of info!

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/04/2013 09:19

Has anyone suffered spd previously. Wirra has reminded of a question I wanted to ask. When you need internals to measure how many centimetres what happens? As presumably difficult with spd due to the fact legs are supposed to be kept together. Confused

Boodstress · 03/04/2013 09:40

beaut i have had SPD with the last two pregnancies and the important thing is that they never put you in stirrups and that before you go in, so the last week or so, measure with a piece of string lying on your back, how far your legs can fall apart before you get that pain and then you should give that to the attending midwife. I was given a lot of consideration where my pain was concerned, although never got to the 2nd stage really. I was also given help to get comfortable on the bed because by 40 weeks plus, lying down is as bad as walking around. Maybe consider taking your body or bump pillow with you.
I think, if I remember, lying on your side is the best position for SPD...unfortunately I also end up in theatre.

Boodstress · 03/04/2013 09:41

Not also..always

lollypopsicle · 03/04/2013 09:46

beaut I believe the advice is to establish how far you can comfortably part your legs and specify this on your birth plan accompanied by stating you have PGP and stating you must not be put in stirrups.

I am on a nesting mission today. Washing, cleaning, tidying. I want to feel ready for this baby before the Easter holidays end so I can get through the last few weeks of work then hopefully relax at 37 wks!

lollypopsicle · 03/04/2013 09:48

X post! Glad I said similar to bood Grin

Catchingmockingbirds · 03/04/2013 10:56

When I was in labour I found that lying on the floor in a ball was best for me to cope with the contractions. Lying on my back was definitely the worst position.

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/04/2013 11:40

Oh yes definitely agree re giving birth on back.I had to both times but had a spinal block and epidural so a bit different.

Thanks ladies ill do the measuring thing then.Im hoping for a water birth still

babygeek · 03/04/2013 12:08

It is hard to believe that we will all be popping out the babies soon! Elly, hope your last week goes well and you are able to get some rest and relaxation.

Had to take a sick day today, woke up feeling so tired, proper full body exhaustion! And some nausea and sore back/hips to top it off. Also, had a horrible nightmare about the baby, I know it's just my subconscious processing anxiety but it is still upsetting. I was doing ok up till now. Hope it is just a 24hr bug. Maybe the nightmare and exhaustion are related?

LO is throwing some shapes today as well. Lots of wee bumps poking out here and there and her little foot has discovered my ribcage Shock

Beaut, when is your driving test? All the best of luck!

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/04/2013 12:29

Babygeek Hope you feel better soon. I have to say glad I'm on maternity leave now as have a lot more aches and pains this time than with previous two.

Driving test is 25th April. I will be exactly 37 weeks Shock I had a mock test today and failed miserably. I went to go the wrong way down a one way street and I didn't look properly at a cross roads. So basically need to be much more observant

beaver33 · 03/04/2013 15:27

Just checking in, ladies - haven't been here for WEEKS and sorry to hear about all the aches and pains. I can confirm - I have moved house! So to Rachy and Beaut and anyone else waiting to do that, good luck.

Was a terrible experience in the end - movers turned up four hours late with a van which was wet and dirty. An almighty thunderstorm kicked off just as they started moving our stuff out, so everything was soaked. They were so late I had to go to hospital on my own for the growth scan (and DH was really unhappy he had to miss it) and they had to scoot off to another job before finishing ours which meant we had to pick up the last of the stuff ourselves the next day.... and THEN when we refused to pay the full amount they threatened to call the police - HA! They messed with the wrong woman....cue screaming preggers woman in the street. How not to meet your new neighbours.

Anyway. Been happily wallpaper stripping/nesting/painting etc.

Three weeks to go until mat leave. Not sleeping cos of restless legs but apart from that am ok, if a bit waddly....

Who else was giving birth in King's...was it you, sparkling?

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/04/2013 17:28

Beaver Thats terrible. I hope you got a good discount from removal men. Was all your furniture ok. We are lucky that we will move ourselves DP can get a huge van from work and we have plenty of volunteers to help. I will be the one packing and unpacking though.

Has everyone sorted hospital bag. I went to pack mine today and its a bit of a squeeze in the case. I didn't realise I had bought such a small one so I'm thinking now of taking all baby's stuff in the change bag. Anyone else taking two lots of stuff

MooLL · 03/04/2013 17:43

Hi all sorry not in touch for a few days. After a couple days of trying to regulate my bp they gave up and I gave birth on Tuesday morning via c section. Baby (Clementine) weighed in at 3lbs 3oz and is already off her breathing aids! Expect she will be on there from 4-6 weeks. They are now working on regulating my bp back to normal so I should be in about a week. Kingsdon are amazing !!! Will keep you updated of developments x

Artichook · 03/04/2013 17:52

Congrats MooL! Clementine is a lovely name and how brilliant that she is breathing alone already. I hope that your BP settles soon.

I cannot believe how many premmie babies this thread has, or how much pre-eclampsia. I was on an antenatal thread on here for DD2 and there were loads of us and nobody gave birth prematurely or had any complications at all. So odd.

We are on our last little holiday as a family as four. The sun is shining in the Westcountry although its still quite cold. We are having a lovely time though and I have managed some long walks and big, yummy meals so I am feeling quite fortunate. Sorry to here so many are suffering badly at this stage. Only a few weeks more to go ladies!
