Happy mothers (to be) day everyone!

forgetmenots · 10/03/2013 11:09

Hope you all have a lovely mums to be day :) My bump is so clever they sent me a card, poor DH thought I would be upset Hmm if I didn't get one, I can't be that hormonal surely!? :)

Great tip on pants learnermummy, thanks :)

Littlemissexpecting · 10/03/2013 11:12

I'm not sure if I'm upset or not to not get one!
DH seems to have either forgotten or not thought to mention it. Stupid pregnancy hormones making me get upset, I know I'm being stupid and unreasonable

pinkapples · 10/03/2013 11:22

My clever bump sent me one too I cried don't know why tho just b emotional I think very tired as hubby and his friends didn't come in till 4am this morning aqua natal was relaxing tho feel sick now Hmm

forgetmenots · 10/03/2013 11:23

Littlemiss probably hasn't dawned on your DH at all, mine clearly thought I was prone to hysteria emotional enough that he best comply. Didn't know whether to be thrilled or a bit suspect! Oh dear, the paranoia...!

pinkbear82 · 10/03/2013 12:11

Happy mums to be day! And mummy's day to those with little ones already! ThanksThanks

So pleased to see that I'm not the only one who is a little meh about not having a card.... DP isn't even here today, and I know I didn't think he'd do anything but a little something would have been nice..... Stupid hormones!

I shouldn't complain really DPs eldest DD came in Wednesday morning and gave me a little card she'd made, coz I'm like a special mum to her..... Bless her little heart! (Was coming up to her bday and she was in full creep mode but still!!)

Hope everyone has a lovely day xx

MrsBri · 10/03/2013 12:11

I didn't get one, but I'm not too bothered by it...DH didn't think about it, I imagine. Had to prompt him to remember what day it is!

Just spent another 200 quid on the Mothercare site :-/ But I do almost have everything we apparently need. They had a twin pack of Blooming Marvellous nightdresses for 24 quid, so snaffled those up.

Last year our wedding absorbed all of my money. Now it is baby. Worth it though! :-)

forgetmenots · 10/03/2013 12:12

Aww pinkbear that really is lovely :)

Grin Forgetmenots it was really touching! I'm either flavour of the month or disliked for being strict..... But both DPs girls are lovely really so can't complain - currently they are frustrated that June is so far away as they want to meet bubs. I've had lots of promises of all kinds of help no matter the time day or night!! Wink

MrsBri · 10/03/2013 12:26

They sound lovely, pinkbear :-)

I like the group of senders for your flowers, sparkle!

I'm feeling quite sick today, but didn't sleep well, and those 2 things do seem to go together quite well, sadly. Baby is also doing the washing machine impression again, which provokes nausea. Active little baby.

Forget, was it you who also had an acrobat? Is that continuing?

And did we have a hairy conversation ages ago? Of those who are hairy, how many have found the sex out now? Straw poll time!

forgetmenots · 10/03/2013 13:15

Haha, yes mrsbri - mine is one of the acrobatic troupe, and it's continued (even with anterior placenta, the washing machine description is very familiar!!) It does make me panic though whenever there's a remotely quiet day :(

Re hair - I was a yeti at twelve weeks, but think mine slowed down in the second trimester, still team yellow - and don't really have a feeling either way.

forgetmenots · 10/03/2013 13:17

Just saw your message pinkbear - good on you for being such a fab step mum. Not an easy job but you sound like you're passing with flying colours, and how lovely that your dp's two are so excited about baby!

MrsBri · 10/03/2013 13:22

Oh yes, I know that panic, forget. :-/

When you see that some people are still barely feeling baby, I can't remember what it was like to not feel kicks / the washing machine!

If I have 1 or 2 really mental days, I'll then have a relatively quiet day. I try to remember that when worry creeps in.

I have certain times I expect to feel baby, these are sometimes quite brief, and on other days they merge into one!

What amazed me is how many kicks happen that I can't feel, something revealed on the heart trace last week. Give it a few more weeks and I imagine I'll feel every little movement!

Mawgatron · 10/03/2013 13:23

Happy mums day ladies! No card for me here either, but I wasn't expecting one to be honest. DH is driving down to London so I am home alone for the day.

I haven't been any more hairy than usual, and we are having a little boy.

I am suffering from a STINKING cold, I didn't realise this much snot could come out of a single person! It's making me miserable as I can't bloody take anything for it. Got loads of work to be doing as well, but there is a cat in hell's chance that that is getting done!

forgetmenots · 10/03/2013 13:50

That sums it up really well mrsbri. I try to just feel lucky when I do feel baby going berserk!

redwellybluewelly · 10/03/2013 13:52

Maw you can take paracetamol and also drink honey & lemon, it will make you feel a little more human, we all have terrible colds here.

I was distinctly less hairy with DC1 (a girl) and a straw poll at yoga of about 36 of us revealed that there did seem to be at least a little truth in this old wives tale.

MrsBri I'm sorry about your DH's job but pleased its not causing too much undue stress. I'm sorry if I've missed other news, I hope everyone is well - I had a stonking falling out with my mother at the end of last week and was extremely upset by it.

OP posts:
curiousgeorgie · 10/03/2013 14:14

Maw - you can steam too...it really helped my cold. Having a cold while pg is totally miserable Sad

I'm giving my mum a piece of wall art I've made her today - and as she is a completely house proud interior designer it's something of a risk so keep your fingers crossed for me at lunch Wink

My DD (2) decided to start my Mother's Day by giving me a bagel in bed, and then asking if she could eat it instead Grin (DH waiting outside the door laughing!)

Hope everyone's having a lovely day! Xx

MrsBri · 10/03/2013 15:14

Redwelly, it may cause stress in a month or so, but for now we will cope. Just. His mum has told me not to worry as they won't let us go hungry etc, but it is still hard to wonder what will happen. Just have to put it to the back of my mind.

And it sounds like you're not having a good time with family. I'm sorry it's stressful. What's causing the problems, if you don't mind me asking?

grainmum · 10/03/2013 20:21

hi everyone, no card here for me either - DH better get his act together for next year! Re maternity pads I did put a packet in my trolley one week, but they all seem really basic and old fashioned compared to sanitary towels - can someone who's not a first time mum explain if there's a reason I shouldn't/don't want to use a leading brand night time towel? I think I'd prefer some wings...

redwellybluewelly · 10/03/2013 20:41

You need to use the thicker pads for a while as it is easier for MWs to check any clots or discharge and amount of bleeding as well. Plus it was a few weeks before I wasn't bleeding so heavily even a thick sanitary towel could have coped.

Sorry.

You did ask.

OP posts:
RueDeWakening · 10/03/2013 20:56

Maternity pads are thicker and therefore more padded and more comfortable for a very sore fanjo - though I'm sure you don't want to consider these things just yet :o

And what redwelly said too.

I move onto Always night extra long with wings and everything else you can get after the maternity ones, I would expect to bleed for about 5 or 6 weeks post birth so you'll get through a fair few!

redwellybluewelly · 10/03/2013 21:34

I found the Boots ones the best, 99p a pack I think annd I probably had 15-20 packs in total? Kept receipt and took back any unopened packs. I did however bleed very heavily apparently and for quite some time, a few people have told me you bleed less after a CS so I shall let you all know lol!

We hopefully get our date for the CS this week, thing is we need to arrange wrap around childcare for DD but we don't want everyone to know the date in advance! And my lovely SIL who will probably have DD cannot keep a secret!

and I may be overusing ! tonight

OP posts:
RueDeWakening · 10/03/2013 22:32

Well I've had 2 CS so far and have bled for about 5 weeks both times...don't know how that compares to a VB mind?
