Ouch redwelly, hope you are ok.
Well done to those who braved baby show, having a mild panic about my lack of buying baby related bits.
I need to have a man rant, oh has a cold feeling sorry for himself so staying in bed while I go to lunch with friends, then next weekend we are going away with some other couples and he's told me he needs to work, pissed off with his lack of organisation and man flu... Grrr. Rant over he's a lovely boy really but think I'm easily irritated at the moment.

MrsBri · 24/02/2013 11:30

Morning all! I amazed myself by sleeping until 9.45 today...must have been tired.

Baby B has been playing this morning. No idea what he was doing, but it tickled quite a bit :-) Think he was glad when I finally ate breakfast!

Is anybody else starving hungry at the moment? Think there must be a fair amount of growth going on as all I can think about is food!!

How is your bump today, redwelly? Hope it is OK and doesn't hurt anymore. And hopefully your DH isn't being an arse today.

DH has now told me I'm not allowed to be at home when he paints, which is why it isn't done yet. Not sure where the hell he expects me to go, bearing in mind I don't know anybody up here :-/ Just have to throw me out on the street!

Sorry to anyone else whose DH / DP is being annoying.

Littlemissexpecting · 24/02/2013 12:00

Red welly hope bump ok this morning.
Mrs Bri I keep having days where I eat non stop then some days not so much. I've had a lazy morning, poor baby must have been starving as just had breakfast!!
I think lo has moved, as bump seems higher today and his kicks feel different.
Very jealous of those that went to baby show, but it was too far for me to go alone as DH working this weekend. I also have cot, pram, car set so didn't know if there was much point.
DH also wants me out the house while he decorates the baby room. he wants me to stay at his mums. I'm sure I will be fine as long as I don't go in room while he is sanding and doing the gloss but I wanted to help!! I'm dreading emptying the room next weekend though, it's kind of turned into my clutter/dressing room as well as storage room for all my work equipment. Not sure yet where everything is going to go! Anyone else on countdown for finishing work? I'm hoping to finish around 34 weeks but I'm going to have a manic few weeks before I finish with lots of stays away from home Hmm

Sparkle I wouldn't mind going to my mothers, but his?!!
He has a point, mine live over 300 miles away, his are about 10 but I want to help!!
Must be a man thing!!

pinkbear82 · 24/02/2013 12:49

Must be the weekend for DP/H being less than helpful! Mines had about a week of being nothing but annoying.
Would
Love him to say he was going to decorate the nursery but have a feeling I'll be kicking him up the bum to even consider doing anything! (Men Confused)
Bubs seems to have wiggled into a bit of a better place today - which is quite nice as DSC want to go out on their bikes this afternoon so a waddle walk will be in store!

MrsBri · 24/02/2013 13:01

Littlemiss, I'm on serious countdown to finishing. 11 weeks to go, of which I'm working 49.5 days :-) And apparently the lazy, good-for-nothing chatterbox bitches have been told they need to start doing more of my stuff and help me out so that they're used to found it when I'm gone. Bet that went down well!!

It's weird about positioning. Sometimes Baby B can't really be felt. At others he sits really heavily. :-/ He was sitting heavy until a short while ago, so at least it is more comfy for our trip out to Preston Mothercare shortly. :-)

I'd NEVER go to his parents' to stay. I'd rather sleep rough! Mine are 170 miles away, so not that close, and my mum has an anxiety thing, so I can't stay over anyway! He will just have to work it out when I'm working or having my hair cut or something.

I wanted to help too :-/

Why can't you help? Most paints these days are low or no odour, you can do the middle of the walls without exerting yourself or cutting in. Now glossing I would also now stay away from (half an onion in a bowl or a lit candle can help reduce fumes) as I'm a tad paranoid (plus the low odour gloss paints don't cover so well).

DH finished painting the front room today in time for our new sofa to be delivered this week, the only reason I'm not helping is because I needed to provide the toddler entertainment.

Now at work. Have bought a ready made roast (oh the shame) which DH is getting ready for 5.30 dinner, bump not moving around much today but have had a few sharp kicks, so so much to do before Easter I'll be working 6 day week (but finishing at 4,.30 not 5.30!). I've 13 weeks before I finish on the 24th May.

MrsBri · 24/02/2013 15:32

I've been told no, and it's not worth an argument. And the way DH paints there is no middle bit to do, as he is one stripe up and down the wall. He's a perfectionist, so it is probably safer I'm not there! :-)

And he really wants to do it himself to help me and do something for Baby B!

sparkle whats your due date? Mine is 10th June but baby will likely be here 6 or 7th June.

Having a lot of family problems at the moment, DH is trying to be supportive but some family members haven't acknowledged this pg at all and others (like my mum) have been very non-committal to helping out at all afterwards Sad

Sunbeam18 · 24/02/2013 16:48

I kept out of the way when OH painted the flat a few weeks ago - think its safest to be out of the way of both fumes and ladders!
Very impressed with all the purchases! We haven't got much at all yet, but there are still almost four months to go. Got a Moses basket from eBay, and some bits and pieces of cute clothing when I see them. Also, a neighbour has passed a cot on. I'm not 100% sure if I want to use it or buy new. My folks are going to buy us the pram.
I have a question about bedding. I know we need to buy a new mattress for the Moses basket and also for the cot. what is recommended for mattresses? There seems to be huge amount of choice... Do we just need a swaddle blanket, fitted sheets for both and cellular blankets? Any help appreciated!

pinkapples · 24/02/2013 18:02

Sunbeam ill second that question as no clue what baby is meant to sleep in blanket sleeping bag sheet etc Confused

redwellybluewelly · 24/02/2013 18:09

I did a long post about blankets on the old thread, I'll see if I can find it when I get on the pc later

Mawgatron · 24/02/2013 20:04

Hi all! Back from my weekend away in Beverley, 3g was crap all weekend so didn't get a chance to check in. Went to stay with brother in law and his husband, spent a FORTUNE on eating out, but have had a lovely time.

Mrs Bri he has been very apologetic, and we had a really good discussion (and it was actually a discussion rather than an argument), felt much better after talking it through properly with him, and I think he has finally got the message. Glad to hear it is not just me with a DH who is irritating though!

Picked up our Stokke Sleepi from Birmingham on the way to Bev, really excited to get it up and installed, but we cant get it up until DH has painted bubba's room (he is also a decorator who is a perfectionist - it needs to be just so!). It's an ebay job, but the previous owner is much more organised than I would ever be and has kept everything (box/instructions/teeny tiny parts etc) so it is basically like new.

with a little, we aren't getting a bug or an Icandy! going for an uppababy vista, but we need to save for a couple of paychecks before we can get it. My nan is insisting on getting our baby monitor, so we don't have to worry about that. We also had a load of baby clothes donated, so everything is really falling into place.

just started getting heartburn regularly - have never had it before and it sucks! what is the best remedy that people have come across?

16 weeks to go!

RueDeWakening · 24/02/2013 20:28

Mawg - try Rennies or Gaviscon - if you speak to your MW next time you see her she might be nice and write you a prescription for it (aniseed tastes least revolting IME!)

Redwelly - glad you're feeling a bit better today and baby is kicking away :)

Everyone on about decorating - I think your DH's are fab! DH is rubbish at decorating, end up with paint everywhere and really sloppy cutting in etc so I did it myself. Mind you, he wouldn't be able to get rid of me anywhere unless he wanted to pay for me to stay in a hotel for a night or two :o

26 weeks today! :o somewhere between 10 and 12 weeks to go...EEK!

MrsBri · 24/02/2013 20:30

That's good news, Maw...I'm so glad it worked. With those situations, it's easy for it to swing the other way.

I'm also glad you understand the perfectionist DH re decorating! It's just easier for me to not get involved :-) I have to admit he does an awesome job, even if I find it kind of frustrating!

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend all round.

SunnyL · 24/02/2013 21:14

I'm on the indigestion bus Maw. I find the liquid Gaviscon is the most soothing. I'm on the tablets at the moment because I couldnt get the glass bottle on the plane - they work but take a little longer and seem to involve a lot of picking the gunk out of your teeth after. A lass of milk is also quite soothing as it is alkaline.

Garlic appears to be one of the things setting me off so trying to cut that down. Might mean vampires are more prevalent though!

MrsBri · 24/02/2013 21:18

You'll have to carry holy water instead, Sunny!!

Littlemissexpecting · 24/02/2013 21:38

Maw do you know what monitor you are getting? I had decided on the Tommy one with digital thermometer but now I'm looking at BT ones. Decisions decisions!
Ordered my changing bag today. Went for a pacapod can't wait to start using it! I can't believe how expensive some of them are though. Back to work tomorrow Hmm 11 weeks to go Smile

learnermummy · 24/02/2013 22:20

Evening all. Busy weekend away but home now v tired and v sore feet! Feel suddenly huge this week and surprised to be offered a cushion for my back in a posh-Ish London restaurant and shown to a secret disabled loo much closer than the ladies!! Am obviously showing now Smile.
Managed to get a maxi cosi isofix base on eBay last week for £35 which was actually just down the road so just need the car seat to go with now. Am thinking of getting a stretchy new born sling to begin with - either Kari-me or close perhaps. Had an ergo before which is fab for 5m+ but not for newborns.
Whoever was talking about knickers I'm still really comfy in my m&s pants which have a stretchy wide lace band at the front, so nothing to dig in. They're not maternity and come in a pack of 5.
As for decorating not sure when we'll get that done, DH a bit of a workaholic at the mo and he's not a decorator!
Maw - glad you sorted stuff with your OH.
My 2 boys have been driving me mad today so am getting seriously worried about managing with 3!!
