Greetings all from Sri Lanka. Flying long haul at 24 weeks was ok apart from stupidly wearing my jeans. Felt like I needed to pee constantly which did mean I did the stand up and walk around thing every half an hour much to the irritation of the grumpy teenager I was sat next to. Unfortunately AirLanka are gits and wouldn't upgrade me just for being pregnant. The guy who had a heart attack over Saudi Arabia did get upgraded though!

On the sleeping on your side thing - left is also meant to be good for people suffering from varicose veins. I've had them since I was about 18 and they've never really bothered me but at the moment they look quite gross and are hot and itchy.

LexiLexi · 18/02/2013 15:32

Welcome june! We are thinking of traveling with our baby too, worth looking into which car seats are approved for use on the plane as not all are. We chose the Maxi Cosi Pebble as it is also compatible with many travel systems (we are still undecided but will prob plump for the iCandy Peach Jogger). Parent facing is a priority for us too, maisie

Managed to pick up a Stokke Sleepi, off eBay. Any ideas on mattress choice? Should we go Coco? Seem to think that there may be concerns with some of the synthetic/ foam types but haven't read anything specific.

Sarah2506 · 18/02/2013 16:01

I'm not planning on doing a huge amount of shopping at the babyshow. Its more about checking things out that you may not see in shops, like the babyBay we quite fancy at the moment. I'm hoping there will be lots of free samples?! I doubt we will last very long. It's not entirely the sort of environment I want to be in right now, and to be honest, can you imagine what the queue for the ladies will be like?!?!?

Mawgatron · 18/02/2013 16:01

Oh let me know if you find a bargain mattress lexi, we are picking up our sleepi on Friday (that we won on eBay). Haven't really done much in the way of research, thought we would probably just get the cheapest one. Is that bad?

maisiebeem · 18/02/2013 16:05

I haven't though much about mattresses, but have looked into those little pillow things- not actual pillow, but they are meant to help to prevent "flat head" by allowing the pressure of baby's head to be spread out evenly- supposedly. Have seen them in jojo and John Lewis.

Littlemissexpecting · 18/02/2013 16:52

We haven't really shopped about for our mattress. Just went for the best one that mothercare did. It's a pocket sprung which is meant to be loads better than foam and spring so I'm hoping he will get a good few years out of it in his cot bed.
Mattresses for crib is a different story, JL only seem to do one that fits the JL crib. Reviews are good but not sure whether its the best out there. DH thinks we should just get it but I read somewhere with mattresses (and most stuff to do with babies !) buy the best that you can afford.

pinkbear82 · 18/02/2013 17:16

hello everyone I'm a bit new to all of this!

Due 5 June with 1st DC for me and 3rd for DP. Haven't found out which variety for us much to DPs annoyance!

Bubs is currently squashing the tube from my kidney to bladder which is causing quite a lot of pain and means I'm currently off sick so trying to figure out what I do re mat leave and when to start etc.

You all sound super organised - I have one baby gro and that's it so far. Do have a lovely friend who is making a list of what she has and is more than happy to pass along which is lovely.

I shall leave it there for now.Smile

pinkapples · 18/02/2013 17:31

Yep ill second that your all sounding very organised I have no clue thought ill just buy what I think and hope for the best is that naive or no? Think it will be alright as long as we get proper mattress etc should b alright

Littlemissexpecting · 18/02/2013 18:28

pinkbear82 · 18/02/2013 18:45

Ty littlemiss :)

bshorty · 18/02/2013 19:24

Hello. I'm just introducing myself. I've been an avid reader for quite a while but not had the courage to post. Feel a bit guilty for not contributing so here I am. I'm due 10th of June and we're having a boy. Had my 24 week check up today and everything is on track. We have done some decorating and are putting up some wall stickers. I have bought a few little things, a cot and a Moses basket just cos can't afford to buy everything at once. Counting down til pay day as usual.

bshorty · 18/02/2013 19:28

It must be a day for coming out the closet pinkbear

redwellybluewelly · 18/02/2013 19:31

Hello new people and bumps!

24weeks today, 15 weeks until eviction (although exact CS date tbc) and I have bump ache, anyone else? DH got home from work to find me in the bath entertaining DD with bubbles. Think I might have overdone it at the weekend but not sure how? Being very careful with lifting and carrying DD, I did do a weeks food shop and work all day Sunday.

In fact DH has sent me to bed and offered to bring my dinner up, DD unsettled anyway so no point in going up and down the stairs.

We've been offered a brand new cot bed with brand new mattress for dd, baby can tgen have the smaller cot. What we're going to do with the brand new single bed in the meantime I have no idea!

Hehehe bshorty - it must be!!
You've got so much more organised than me! I've told DP what colours I'd like in bubs room but that's as far as we've got!

AmIGoingMad · 18/02/2013 19:42

Wow it's been a busy day on here today!

Welcome June and Pinkbear!Smile

Dontmind you might well be my new hero! Sometimes you just have to have chocolate and its nice not to feel guilty about it for a change!Grin

You're all so much more organised than me! My plan for the coming wk/ wkend is to get DSs clothes down from the attic and bundle up ( thanks for the tip redwelly/aloha- I'm sure it was one of you that told me that) ready for my first attempts at eBay. Trying to sell the fertility monitor I bought about 2 days before my bfp too. Haven't a clue what I'm doing so should be interesting!

Mrsbri- are you fully in now and how have you been feeling?

Mawgatron- have a great half term! I went back today and am so tired its unbelievable! I'm doing that annoying thing that teachers do and I swore I wouldn't and already counting down to the next hol!

Ladies I cannot believe how quickly time is going- it's madness!

AmIGoingMad · 18/02/2013 19:44

X post- welcome to you too bshorty!Smile

pinkbear82 · 18/02/2013 19:46

Red my bump has been really 'tight' the last few days and have been finding bending really hard!

I'm currently on the sofa in pjs with the duvet - avoiding the mental dog that's chasing something he thinks he's seen!!

bshorty · 18/02/2013 20:13

Thanks for the warm welcome. Think I'm only organised cos I don't have any other DC to run round after. We had a little wait before getting pregnant and had a mmc so I'm now finding it hard to restrain myself from buying everything insight.

MrsBri · 18/02/2013 20:18

Hello to all the newbies...welcome to the mad house :-)

We have quite a few bits either bought, ordered or being given to us. In fact, the only thing we are really lacking is clothing, but I'll do a bulk shop in April when I get paid.

We are decorating the nursery next weekend, I think :-) So exciting! It's going to look awesome. I'll put a picture on my profile once it is done.

And yes to tight bump...I think I've had Braxton Hicks today. Took my breath away. But OK now. Baby is going mental now I've eaten. Amuses me how much of a reaction I get to food!

Redwelly, we have a single bed which I wanted to keep in the nursery, but I'm not sure everything will fit now. I need the cot bed to work it all out. The joy of too many beds!

AmI, we are getting there now. We still need to build the little, 2 seater, table and chairs I got for the kitchen and my nursing chair, plus the changing unit once the nursery is painted.

DH needs to unpack his clothes and the computer needs putting back together too. And we have one box left to unpack.

But considering the chaos from the weekend, and even this morning, we are doing really well. If only I could remember the kitchen layout! :-)

I'm utterly wiped out though. Glad I did this now and no later. Who else was planning to move pre-birth?

MrsBri · 18/02/2013 20:20

Oh, and the bending is very hard indeed. So I've started to bloody drop every other thing I'm holding onto the floor! I've driving myself bonkers :-/

pinkapples · 18/02/2013 20:28

I'm like that a bit bshorty took us 4 t
Years so I keep buying baby grows cant believe its actually happening and soon they'll be a baby in them! GrinGrinGrin

Can't wait to decorate baby's room just waitin for my sister to collect the last of her stuff as we've been storing it since she moved back into our mums after splitting up with her boyfriend

And the baby show this weekend with both sets of grandparents spend fest or what! Hehe

peardrop2 · 18/02/2013 20:32

After my little health rant earlier today I thought you'd be pleased to hear that I'm going to have a chocolate eclair while watching baby penguins at 9pm. I was good all day after all lasted long Wink

MrsBri · 18/02/2013 20:40

Ooh...penguins. I'd forgotten that was on. Can't wait!

If anyone isn't quite decided on paint colours, Dulux is selling 3 x 30ml testers for 1 quid, including postage, at the moment, so I've ordered 3 yellows to see which I prefer :-)

Littlemissexpecting · 18/02/2013 20:47

Mrs Bri I saw that advert for testers today, after DH and I bought 8 last week!! Think we have decided on a creamy yellow, like a sandy colour. Going to then brighten the room with blue curtains etc.
we're hoping to move in a couple of years, before lo starts school so I l want to keep his room pretty neutral so it sells easier.
I'm off to bed, with 2 pints of water, 2 satsumas and a choc bar! Is anyone else really thirsty at night? I keep getting a dry mouth and feel so thirsty.

AmIGoingMad · 18/02/2013 20:57

Me littlemiss! It's been driving me mad! Have to down a pint of water before I go to sleep and then wake in the night! I can't get enough water but mostly in the evening/ during the night.
