Hi All!
Haven't been on MN much, as I've had a friend staying with me and have exhausted myself traipsing about shops and museums here and in Amsterdam. Her plane left today at lunch time, and I have had a lovely restful afternoon/evening - my first daytime nap in about 2 weeks.

Hope everyone is well. Haven't managed to catch up on all the posts yet, but HC I noticed you have had a scary time. Glad to hear things are on the up and up now.

Jom and Kayzed - noticed you are getting ready for your parents to visit from Aus. Mine are coming from Aus to stay too, which is nice, but they are arriving SO early because my cousin is getting married in York on 10th June. My cousin tried to plan the wedding close to my due date so Mum would be able to be here, but I am a little annoyed about it because A) I am going to have to find something other than my pg jeans to wear, and B) It means the fogeys will be hanging around for 4 weeks before LO arrives - I think I would have rathered the help after LO pops out. Wish the wedding was end of July/early August TBH.

Finally, noticed some discussion about posting rants, and am realising this is turning into one long rant - sorry to inflict it on you all - thanks though - glad to know there are a few ppl out there going through the same kinds of things as me.

Am off to watch ER before bed. Night night

Chat2Ali · 18/05/2006 21:16

KZ - Congratulations for your DS's success. Don't be hard on yourself about the treats though. It sounds like you and your DH managed to come through - kids are so resilient - your DS won't think twice about it, so neither should you.

Wallace · 18/05/2006 21:22

Glad all turned out okay HC :)

Ad break. Phew... Dr Carter and Dr Prat are doing and emergency C-section in a refugee camp in Darfur. Makes NHS look like the Portland Hospital.

KZ - Mum is only going to be here 2 weeks after due date. I know I'll be ready for her to leave by then, but what if LO is late? Luckily Mum's cooking skills involve curry - she's going to be cooking all kinds for me in the week before the due date. Not sure about the other ways of bringing on labour, as we are in a small 2 bed flat, so there won't be much privacy with the parents in the next room...lol

kbaby · 18/05/2006 21:56

Hello,

We came back off hols on Tuesday and finally after a £100 BT bill got our telephone line repaired. God ive missed mumsnet.
Hols were lovely but started to get hot towards the end and I kept getting prickly heat rash. Also the beds were rock hard so I didnt sleep much. At least the front of my bump is now tanned.
I had my 1st bump measure at mw on Wednesday and even though im 30 weeks im measuring 26 and below the average. The baby is lying sideways so I have to go back in 2 weeks to be rechecked and then possibly a growth scan if the baby still seems small. On the other hand it could be the position of the baby thats making the measurements out. MW said to try and change the position by going swimming, sitting facing the back of a chair, on your hands and knees or also sitting watching tv on one of those big bouncy balls. They are all supposed to help baby go head down. I keep getting little feet streching and pushing out the side of my tummy. DD also thinks she has a baby in her tummy.

The builders have finally left and I have a fully working kitchen. Weve got people in this week laying wood flooring throughout the ground floor so were still living in the bedroom. Hopefully everything should be done by Monday and we can move back downstairs and finish the paining etc.
Sorry I havent read up on all the threads. Hope everyones ok.

deblaca · 18/05/2006 23:09

hello all - good to hear from you all and HC great to hear everything's ok
take care ladies

jom · 18/05/2006 23:23

Had mw appt today and LO is in oblique position (diagonal) and with head up and hasn't changed since my last appointment 3 weeks ago. MW not concerned as only 31+3 and says will most likely change from there - hope so as is beginning to become a little uncomfortable. I've decided not to leave it to chance and am going to start some of the positions you mentioned kbaby. Good luck with yours too, and I wouldn't worry too much about the size of your LO often its just the way they're positioned.

HC- Glad all is well with you and you LO! Smile

If we're onto the toilet training talk again - DS has been nappiless overnight everynight this week and not an accident!! (So far although I've probably just ruined that by writing this Grin)

jersey · 19/05/2006 08:05

Glad to hear you are ok HC.

IamBlossom · 19/05/2006 11:00

Great news HC, glad all is ok.

Where's BumpyBel?

Second wake up at 5.30am this morning in a row from DS, but this time, after going in for a quick cuddle and a resettle, I let him cry for 10 minutes, and he went back to sleep. I really don't like leaving him to cry but I can tell from the sound of it it is a whinge and there is nothing wrong and i wanted him to get the message that 5.30am is not an acceptable getting up time. We'll see tomorrow if it's sunk in. They always like to have a little push on the old boundares don't they, even when you think you've got a really establised routine....

KayZed, good luck on the potty training, sounds like it is going well, LOL that you ate all his treats, sounds very familiar. DH said to me the other night let's break open one of DS's Easter Eggs so he can have some for pudding, and managed to tell from my blushes that his Easter Eggs had gone the same way as the Toblerone he had bought me.......well I'm eating for 2 aren't I?

have a great weekend all.

Morning ladies

PIL brought DD back last night at 7.45pm then proceeded to run her ragged. At 8pm I went for a bath as was so, so shattered. PIL still sat there with DD at 8.30pm so I insisted on her having some milk and then bed. PIL stupid dog had put 2 feet on the work top to eat puss cats tea so told her off. Then FIL said we had better go and I thought hurrah. Went straight to bed but ended up in tears as was so tired and DD told me to get out of her room when I tried to kiss her goodnight. The whole thing brought back the terrible memories of the night we brought DD home after the birth and the PIL invaded our home. What can I say to DH tactfully to avoid this happening in 6 weeks time?

Was up 4 times in the night with DD due to her being overtired-grrrhhh-PIL grrrhhh!!!

This morning I am in pain again so obviously I need to take it steady so mum has insisted that I can't do another 2 weeks at work so think I will have to phone work and try and start my maternity leave now. Don't know if that is possible though.

jom-no nappy at night Shock how old is DS? DD has soaked nappies when I get her up. Brill news.

kayzed-you will be on a roll now so keep up the good work. Remember, lots of stickers are good for bribery too.

Right, off to try work again.

Bye for now and love to all.

Straightforward · 19/05/2006 11:43

Hello all

HC - glad all's well - we were all holding our collective breath I think!

Kbaby - interested in what you said about lo lying across - that was the same for me at 29 weeks, so my measurements were on less than the 10th centile, but the mw said they never worry as the measurement is taken from top to bottom (i.e. they realise it's small because baby is sideways so there's no issue) - sounds like your mw takes it more seriously though - not sure if I should be more worried or you should be less!!

KZ and Ali - daytime naps?! I only get to dream of those, you lucky lucky ladies!!

Koshka - my bump seems bigger at night, but there are definitely days it seems bigger/smaller than others. Think a lot depends on what I'm wearing and how much I'm focusing on being pg (sometimes I'll forget for hours on end then wonder why I'm so bloomin' tired!) Good luck with your meetup - I did one recently and was nervous too, but it was fine (even though none of the other kids were the same age as DD, so she got bored and stroppy)

Straightforward · 19/05/2006 11:50

Poor you HC - soooooo with you on the PIL (PIA) issue!! My FIL will (finally!!!) be moving out on Monday night after 20 days of living with us in our small flat. He's infirm so can't do very much except sit and read the bloody paper all bloody day long. I know it's not his fault, but he's pretty unappreciative too of the fact that I'm 7 months pg and running round after DD and him - providing meals, cups of tea etc and knackering myself out. And DH has the bloody cheek to be either at work most of the time or away completely (this week) and then talk wistfully about how much he likes his dad being here! Angry

Jom - I too am in awe of your DS being dry at night. DD has been dry in the day almost without accident since she was just gone 2, but she is almost 4 now and still has a sopping wet nappy every night.

koshka1984 · 19/05/2006 12:04

Hey everyone,
So glad i dont have to worry about PILs, there does not seem to be any men in my family! hehehe!
Have managed to get some antenatal classes booked! Yay!
had better write them down in four other places and mobile before i forget...

puddytat99 · 19/05/2006 12:07

Hi Everyone

33+

HC - Glad everything is ok, had us worried there for a time. Take care of yourself, hun.

Kayzed - Great news about the potty training. Don't worry about not having a treat in, as someone else said stickers are great. I still use them for my DS who's 11. He collects them over a week for the jobs he does at home. Then we add them up at the end of the week to see how much pocket money he gets. And I use them loads at school. Children have even asked me for stickers at the end of class Grin

I can't believe that I finish work next Friday. I've had to bring loads of files home today to make sure they are all up to date before I hand them over. I'll be going back 30th Oct, after the Autumn half term.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and that you manage to dodge this horrible weather that's coming in. Take care of yourselves and your bumps.

sunita123 · 19/05/2006 16:57

Hi everyone,

HC - Glad to hear that you're O.K. It's a shame you have to put up with your PIL. How long's PIL with you for? Hope it's not too long, it sounds as if you need them to run around you. Maybe you could try feigning the "Maiden in Distress" and a few tears, or wouldn't that work?

Blossom - I have moved to a place called Thatcham, (just outside Newbury), I had a choice either to deliver in Reading or Basingstoke. Distance for both hospitals from our home is about the same, But if we get stuck in rush hour traffic, we could be sitting there for hours trying to get to Reading. Besides I've been told by quite a few reliable sources that Basingstoke hospital care is better than Reading.

Puddytat - How are you feeling now? I had a bit of a funny turn myself this week. I didn't feint like you did, but came over all dizzy. I was taking DS to school at the time. I was very lucky a kind lady stopped to make sure that I was O.K. Went to the doctor yesterday to have a check up he said everything is fine, but could I have a blood test to make sure that my iron levels haven't dropped. Take care of yourself.

Kbaby - It's sounds cute that your DD says that she has a baby in her tummy. Does not have the same effect when your DS says that he has a baby in his tummy. (As mine has been saying ever since we told him).

KZ - It's great to hear that your DS has started potty training. How old is he? Mine took forever to learn. I then stopped giving him treats and said I wasn't going to get him anything until he had two weeks of no accidents.

I did the loo roll test - 11 Sheets. Makes me feel HUGE.Sad

Have a good weekend. Bye.

hi all

not posted anything for a few days, but been reading away!!

Welcome Sunita!

Is anyone else being told by people that they look small! Starting to worry me a bit as everyone keeps saying I dont look 32 weeks!?!?

Anyhow hope every1 is well
Speak soon

Twirl · 19/05/2006 19:32

Hi everyone
HC, glad to hear things are ok now. You shouldn't need to start your mat leave early as you can take sick leave until you are 36 weeks preg so go and see your doctor for a certificate, in my experience they take SPD very seriously indeed.
Kayzed - I have been feeling really sick all week and spent the afternoon vomitting (sorry, probably tmi!). It feels like my morning sickness has returned. That, combined with SPD pain which is so bad now that it makes me cry, and raging hormones makes me not a pretty sight... I'm going to go now before I start blubbing in self pity....
Hugs to you all xxx

deblaca · 19/05/2006 20:14

twril - sounds like you having a rough time - hope it gets better soon :) (does the spd go once lo born?)
