roofio yes slings are wonderfully supportive for the mother, and can be better for your back than pushing a pram - but only if you get the right sling for you, and it's a very personal thing.
I had really bad SPD in my last pregnancy and was on crutches for 4 months - could not push a pram for months afterwards but could carry DD in a stretchy sling immediately.
If you like structured buckled carriers then ergo, patapum, manducca, rose and rebellion, Action Baby carrier and many other are excellent - DP uses a wompat with 19 month old DD and he has a dreadful back.
I personally use woven wraps and still regularly carry DD on my back. Other people prefer mei tais. I also use a ringsling.
If you are genuinely interested in a sling the best thing is to get to a sling meet or sling library and try a load out as it is very personal. The important thing is to make sure the baby is supported from back of knee to back of knee for proper hip development, and there is good head support if for a newborn :)
I'm definitely having morning evening sickness just like last time, but it has been improved by getting a bit more rest - DD actually slept the other night and it was much reduced that evening....
