My belly button has times when it is back in, but it's mostly an outie these days. Worry not, ladies, mine popped out with DS, but popped back in once I gave birth!

eigmum · 23/01/2013 19:13

Anyone else getting foot cramp? Oh and I'd love a glass of red. It's the bummer with breast feeding that your body is still not your own and I found myself jealous of the bottle feeders last time til I got the nerve to quit bf ing at 12 weeks and never looked back, I know bf police kill me now!!

My belly button never popped last time but now I can see the brown skin too yuck!! Tmi!

backwardpossom · 23/01/2013 19:26

Oh have a glass. It's good for you Wink

GummiberryJuice · 23/01/2013 19:42

Hi bbface think I was on one of the first threads dropped off abit before Christmas was finding it hard to keep up. Hope you are keeping well.

Right I'm off now to enjoy OBEM on RTE then on Ch4

eigmum · 23/01/2013 19:47

backward I might just do that to ease te foot cramp!

SoYo · 23/01/2013 19:54

Jeez ladies, you go away for one day, have a birthday dinner (plus sneaky glass of red), go to work, see some other lovely preggy ladies, pop back in and all hell has broken loose!

Please please if I say anything that upsets can someone just tell me to pipe down and have a hobnob then I'll shut it & get on with the other loveliness of being a mad marcher, such as....

Belly buttons. I have a very deep inny (sp?) and really don't like outies and I know mine is on its way to coming out, freaks me out quite a lot! Also starting to be concerned re stretch marks. Sensible brain part tells me you'll either get or you won't but less sensilble mummy part has me slightly greasy at all times!!!

As for food I should be thoroughly ashamed this evening! On the ridiculously long commute after stopping for petrol I had a massive bag of wotsits & a bag of Haribo, then had dinner when I got in then had a very impressive vomit due to the very large volume of food ingested! Badness!

Also, in past 3 days I have developed sore hips & started walking like John Wayne! Pretty sure Bubba has stuck his head down for a bit of a practice look out! We've discussed this and he/she's not allowed out until at least 38/40 so I've got a fortnight to sit on my arse & then 2 days to sort all baby stuff!

SoYo · 23/01/2013 19:56

eigmum... The foot cramp! Why did nobody warn me? I jumped out of bed screaming in the middle of the night last week, DH nearly had a fit, thought I was in labour but instead was presented with smelly foot to rub into submission!

Emsyboo · 23/01/2013 20:06

Foot cramp arrgggh it's all night!

Sister in law came round last week and delivered Christmas presents she bought me a bottle of wine! It has been staring at me ever since having to use all will power not to drink lol not had a problem till now but really craving and know just one will turn to more so being good.
Although I did drink whilst breastfeeding DS - sorry ladies, I didn't get hammered but had the odd tipple and eat whatever I wanted including oysters yummy. This would probably be frowned upon but DS is lovely healthy has a big appetite and eats everything! And I mean everything do cant have done too much harm.
But as I say I didn't get hammered my mum told me she used to breastfeed me after long island ice teas and it helped me sleep - it all becomes clear my desperation for wine lol Wink

backwardpossom · 23/01/2013 20:26

SoYo - I'm chuckling at your poor DH - I did the same to my DH when I got leg cramp. Woke up and yelped at about 4am and he jumped out of bed saying dozily "but you haven't packed your bag yet"... bless them Wink

I think red wine is definitely a cure for cramp, eig. A wee glass is fine :)

eigmum · 23/01/2013 20:36

soyo I know it's awful isn't it! I started screaming at about 7 pm while putting my toddler to bed, he said "don't worry mummy daddy will be home soon" !!

*emsyboo" I know my mum was addicted to Pernod! Explains a lot!

eigmum · 23/01/2013 20:36

The wine is helping!

leniwhite · 23/01/2013 20:51

So it isn't just my belly button that is brown?

I can barely walk without needing a wee, keep wondering if bubba's moved lower - he better chill for a bit longer yet, still got 9 weeks to go Shock

Going for a 4D scan tomorrow, which is the fourth dimension anyway?! Looking forward to seeing his little face Grin

Countmyblessings · 23/01/2013 21:07

Ohhhhhhh all this good talk is making me hungry!!!
Em2010- the spread taste just like snickers!!! It's really really nice and the dc have been warned if they touch I will be " hulk" angry!
Dame- I await your post telling its good!!!
Tramp- I'm sure filing the nails would work!
My belly button is nice and smooth it can't be seen but I like feeling it!
Soyo-John Wayne strikes again minus the horse! My hips and back seem to be quitting on me daily!!! Spd strikes some more!
Whoop all the things we have to deal with while pregnant men def could not deal with this!!! We r so much stronger! Also we kind of have super strength while pregnant which seems to kick in when its needed!

Oh have got a super Kingsize bed with memory foam mattress delivered today like I need any more excuses to stay in bed!!!!! My DH is in love and with all my lack of sleep at least I can lay in comfort!!!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 23/01/2013 21:12

Count, I think I need glasses, I thought you said the spread tastes just like knickers?!?!? Blush
All fine here, 32 weeks today. Knackered, but plodding on through.
Agree we need to keep the thread away from scare stories if possible.
Has been a good source of support for me since July (or whenever) and hopefully we can power on now to the next stage! Smile

eigmum · 23/01/2013 21:45

Well the wine has helped! Leg cramp gone. I am 32 weeks today too and have a scan tomorrow to check growth! Yeah another peek, no idea where the 4 th dimension is, things have changed since my maths a level ( some 19 years ago!) what a depressing thought, may need another glass ... !

theTramp · 23/01/2013 22:11

re leg and foot cramp - I cannot recommend highly enough the joys of a reflexology foot massage. You will be in HEAVEN. Worth every penny. Find someone near you soon.

re foot cramp. If you wake up with foot cramp, get out of bed and rock from your heel to your toe back and forth. This stretches the foot and eases out the cramp. It will, I warn you, hurt like buggery for a bit and if the cramp is bad you'll feel like you need to ball your feet up like a fist. Don't. rock back and forth, heel to toe, stretching out those toes. It works.

Also, eat bananas, the potassium helps (or anything else with nice potassium levels).

re the red wine Em. I have had a few "taste" (literally), sips of MrM's wine and it has tasted like nectar rather than battery acid. So I am being incredibly good. I had a small glass of champers at christmas, oh my - ambrosia. (sigh).

Oodsigma · 23/01/2013 22:27

I thought the 4th dimension was time but not sure in terms of a scan

OP posts:
courgetteDOTcom · 24/01/2013 03:32

It is time, it shows things happening in real time. If you have a 3D scan you will get photos but a 4D scan will give you video - if I understand it correctly.

Please do keep your babies in a bit longer! As odd as it is to think mine is now over a month old and a bit lonely, I really don't want anyone joining me just yet!

I think there's a difference between realistic advice, sometimes bad things happen (just look at me!) and pass around scare stories that are going to do nothing other than having people question everything. Telling my story people can be aware of not ignoring contractions that don't go away or if they have a show. With things like above people don't know what "too much" means and as you are always having movements (hopefully) it's something you're going to question every time baby moves, it's also not anywhere near true.

Same goes with food, don't restrict yourself from anything, just don't go mad. If you fancy a glass of wine, don't feel bad about it unless you're binge drinking several times a week! Runny eggs are safe in the UK, prepackaged sandwiches are a higher listeria risk than pate... Most of the things you're supposed to avoid most of us do not eat/ drink to that kind of levels out of pregnancy anyway!

PS, you might not read this, but thanks Julie for sending some reason in here.

leniwhite · 24/01/2013 07:57

I've been eating runny eggs Wink our fridge at work is so disgusting i'd be surprised if it weren't full of listeria frankly. I had to eat my sandwiches at 11am because someone had moved the bag into a nice puddle of milk. Not that I wasn't starving by then anyway!

Ah yes, time is that elusive fourth dimension, I have a lot less of that one it seems. OH is off to have his moles doctored this morning the poor lamb. I only have a couple that sprouted since being pg in the weirdest places (like my finger webbing, if that's the technical term!). Hoping they'll just lop his off and they'll all be friendly ones.

I should not have watched OBEM last night...

Courgette how are you both doing?

I woke up to cramp in my calf - had to jump ungracefully out of bed and hop around clutching and trying not to yelp. I get it in my toe and it sort of sticks up in a rather alarming way! Chuckle Grin

Emsyboo · 24/01/2013 08:15

Courgette how is your little one hope you are both doing well.

Have recorded obem DH won't watch it with me he still has nightmares from DS birth - was all in control but had a bleed after delivery and he couldn't cope with the blood - I was fine as had gas and air Smile dunno how he'll cope if I have a c section which is 95% certain -bloody useless men they certainly couldn't cope having babies!

Like the sound if reflexology but I am so tight at the mo saving for baby 2 and a bigger house I have cut down on all luxuries for me but maybe a treat would cheer me up and stop me pining for that wine lol

I can't keep up with the dos and don'ts of eating only 2 years ago they told us not to eat peanuts now they said we should as long as there is no history of but allergies in the family as avoiding peanuts could cause an allergy!!! Wtf make up your mind lol
A bit of common sense is needed you know what is good and bad for you.

The risks are really really low but I think some people like it as you can feel like you have some control in a situation that takes over your whole body.

Oodsigma · 24/01/2013 08:43

leniget yours checked if they've grown. Growth is common is pregnancy but doesn't mean they are ok. I've one that needs removing ( had melanoma in the past) but its on my side so too close to bump for anaesthetic.

OP posts:
theTramp · 24/01/2013 09:19

Emsy - don't see it as a treat, see it as essential pregnancy maintenance because honestly it is.

Sheldonella · 24/01/2013 09:47

Hi all. Not posted on this thread for a while but I have been reading. The tiredness in the evening has only been leaving room for so much and I am so looking forward to my maternity leave so I can get some rest! I've had a couple of scares lately that thankfully turned out to be nothing at all and am now just waiting for it all to happen really.

Just to add to the thoughts on the unpleasantness of late, I agree that it is not helpful to post scare stories from facebook. Facebook cut n' paste statuses annoy me at the best of times but that one was a step too far. I'm glad a line has been drawn under it now and we can go back to being supportive and positive :) As someone that has suffered a miscarriage I can relate to the posts about blaming yourself and it not being helpful in the slightest. It has taken me a long time to stop looking for reasons that it happened and finally be relaxed and positive. I owe a lot of that to the wonderful women on this thread.

Right, belly buttons. Mine is a tender feeling stretched sideways sort of thing which is now surrounded by stretchmarks! I'm not sure what it will look like afterwards but I can't wait to find out :) I also have a very tender feeling line of stretchmarks on my lower bump. I know nothing can be done about them but I was given a pot of sanctuary mum-to-be body butter and rubbing it on sort of soothes my tender itchy skin. It smells so good I could eat it though. I will try not to Grin

Food avoidance - I have been drinking a coffee a day all the way through and have had a smattering of small glasses of wine. I also use my judgement on the cheeses. I read the risks and the reasoning behind them and made the decisions from there. I avoided much more in my first pregnancy but this time I was determined to be a bit less harsh with myself.

I feel for those of you with cramps! I used to get them when not pregnant but have been lucky not to have any since.

Have a great day all, I must go make my morning coffee (now I have eaten my stilton croissant) before my plumber gets here and turns the water off!

kirsty80 · 24/01/2013 10:33

Morning everyone!

I'm on my first week of mat leave this week which means first week at the school gates! I have failed big time!!! I'm either there too early or too late and always looking really scruffy - apparently my sons school gates are the perfect opportunity to get glammed up!!! Must do better next week!!!

Wine - I miss it soooo much! I asked hubs if we could take a little bottle of champagne in with us for after delivery he said no chance! I've not touched a drop since trying to conceive which is a huge achievement as I bloody love red wine!! I just don't think it's worth it and if you think about the reaction the baby has to a fizzy drink I hate the idea of baby having any alcohol in his system. Although I know that lots of experts say small glasses of wine every now and again is fine it's just my personal choice.

Belly button - mine was a right inny but now it's smooth to my massive bump!

Has anyone's milk come in yet? I'm 34 weeks now and I'm sure with my previous pregnancy I was getting leaky boobs by now?

Also anyone else booked for an elective csection - when will you be having yours - 38 or 39 weeks?

Have a good day everyone! I'm off to eat a pesto and chip butty!!! Yes at this early hour but ummmmmm I loves them!

Oodsigma · 24/01/2013 10:48

I'm booked for a section at 38+3. Had to argue for that though as they are tighter now on under 39 weeks. Have to have steroids too which I haven't before and dd1/3 were both 38 weeks.
