And confuddled has passed it!

So will this one be our last before we move to post natal?

And who is next?

Thanks sarah & jojo for the thread title. :)

Ooo thanks odd! I have had the steroid injections last week when I went into early labour. I already feel like I've had to fight for my section at 39 weeks but I really want to try for one at 38 weeks now to ensure I don't go into labour early. What date are you booked in for yours?

kirsty80 · 24/01/2013 10:51

Ood! Sorry not odd!!! Ha ha!

courgetteDOTcom · 24/01/2013 11:09

Emsy, they've worked out now that it is increasing the risk and other allergens too and also in weaning - obviously giving a 6 month old peanuts is dangerous but it's OK in things and strawberries they used to say you shouldn't give to a child but now they know that's causing allergies. Basically we were avoiding so much that children's bodies didn't know what to do with it when they finally had it.

My belly button is the same as ever, was starting to open up before I had the baby but not much. My belly is covered in bruises though as I seem to be running out of places to inject now I'm not pregnant.

Steroids at 38 weeks for a section is getting more common now. Dates can easily be wrong, some babies are designed to go longer so too many babies are being taken out too early so they're covering themselves and protecting baby. Not so bad if you go into labour because the hormones that develop the lungs and labour hormones are linked.

Baby has been poorly this week, we were supposed to be starting breastfeeding as the start of efforts to get him home but then the first day I noticed his tummy was distended and now he's nil by mouth as it looks like he has a bowel infection. Yesterday he set off his monitors and needed some help, they put him back into an incubator and within 10 minutes of it all kicking off he looked fine. They've been joking that he was just being naughty and thought he was being ignored.

courgette I'm sorry he was unwell but glad he seems to be getting better hope it isn't an infection or it gets cleared up quickly hope you are doing ok with it all.

I am just amazed how quickly things are changed with the guidelines my DS was 2 last week and the things to eat in pregnancy have changed since then. It does make sense though that having no exposure to things at all could promote a reaction- I will leave all that to the experts and just try to do my best with the pregnancy. I did Baby led weaning with DS and plan to again which have some good advice on foods.

When DS was born MIL brought in a bottle of Champagne to the hospital and plastic glasses, unfortunately I wasn't up for it at the time but she had champagne as soon as all 3 of her children were born she told me Champagne helps you deliver the placenta - I think this is one of those things she makes up to suit herself but a nice idea - I asked the delivering midwife and she just laughed and said they had injections for that :)

I am counting the days at the moment on limited bed rest so stir crazy but have a scan in 11 days to see if placenta has moved at all, no one is expecting it to or enough so may get some idea about their plans for a c section, but if it has moved a bit I may be able to do more stuff so fingers crossed.

Em2010 · 24/01/2013 16:21

Good luck with your scan emsy. I've got one in a couple of weeks as well to see if placenta has moved. It wasn't totally covering the os at 20 weeks so I'm feeling optimistic it will have shifted. It will!!

It's very true that advice on what to eat keeps changing. Peanuts were ok last time but stilton was a no. This time stilton is ok (according to nhs) but its hard to get something out of your head. That said I think it's really up to the individual to make the judgement call. The only reason I haven't been particularly daring is because I would worry and I can't cope with causing myself extra stress!

Can I second tramps recommendation re reflexology? I have been having it since conception. I was very sceptical at first but I honestly have found it has made so much difference. I'm off again for some tonight. My little piece of heaven- it's priceless!

Emsyboo · 24/01/2013 17:09

Good luck Em apparently 50% do move from 20 weeks so fingers for you -crossed I am still remaining positive but realistic even if doctors aren't sure now - hadn't moved at 25 and 28 weeks still completely covering os. However 3rd trimester is when the bottom of uterus grows so still hope. When are you due? I am 32 weeks due 17th March.

Will look into reflexology see if I can persuade DH to let me go (not let as much as babysit so I can go)

leniwhite · 24/01/2013 18:16

Ood - my moles are literally a mm diameter, more like freckles! Nothing to see barely. All OH's were fine, they said apparently moles do change in the late twenties, no idea why. I've got loads of extra pigment recently, but no stripe on my bump, just random patches. Gosh I'm a beaut!

When I went to France they were all telling me how the advice was just to limit to 10 fags a day and only two glasses of red a day - just goes to show how different things are between cultures too. Unless we lock ourselves in a sealed room for life there's just no way to avoid all risks, I keep thinking how much traffic smog I'm breathing in and how that's probably as bad as smoking...

Just had 4D scan, bubs had his hands up in front of his face the entire time, then when we tried to see his willy he covered that with his hands too - clever little monkey! He had open eyes and smiled for us (or what looked like a smile), before giving us the finger Shock

Lying in the perfect position which is great. But he could decide to flip at the last minute still, get on those labour balls and rotate the hips ladies!

FYI reflexology - make sure they don't massage the points on your heels that can start contractions

Oodsigma · 24/01/2013 18:58

Sounds like he's going to keep you on your toes leni

Also due 26th, not sure if anyone is later though...

LO has been very wrigglesome for the last few days. Enjoying his last days of full movement I reckon! Keeps passing through head down I am sure as pressure down below suddenly overwhelming and kicks high up in my bump plus John Wayne walking happens. However, doesn't tend to last, and then I get kicks on both sides (so I guess kicks and punches really!) albeit everything is a bit comfier. Hey ho, still got plenty of time to get in position, and 8 and a bit weeks to go.

Belly button still inny, but showing bits I haven't seen in last 33 years! Being honest looks like a pi$$ hole in the snow (as my grandmother would have said!) but am sure it won't pop - there isn't anything to pop!

Had to cancel window fitting yesterday (grrr) due to snow, rebooked for Mon so hope things easier by then. fx.

Bought a gro egg room thermometer today, as well as a changing mat. Still a good couple of weeks off being able to get into the nursery to decorate though due to building work elsewhere in house so he better stay put for now!

DH cooking tea which is very lovely. Best go and get changed and snuggle up for evening of telly watching.

GummiberryJuice · 24/01/2013 20:04

Just catching up and trying to keep track, does anyone know if sheildbug has been back on here, just wondering how she's getting on

pudtat · 24/01/2013 20:06

Oh. It appears they arrived today. The stretch marks that is. Hmm

leniwhite · 24/01/2013 20:47

So Pudtat we can compare notes Grin
If I don't wear my attractive orthopaedic bump belt my bladder basically is useless - baby's head must be jammed right on it. Used to just be when he punched or moved over it but now it's all the time.

I need a she wee!

eigmum · 24/01/2013 21:13

Kirsty, I am having an elective section at 39 weeks. They seem to be funny about doing it earlier..Something to do with lungs .. Had my 32 week scan today and all good, she is 4 pounds -and 6 ounces already apparently!

Emsyboo · 24/01/2013 21:44

Leni I went to France last pregnancy they said I should give up alcohol but poured me a large red as red wine doesn't count as alcohol lol

shieldbug · 24/01/2013 22:02

gummi hello my fellow NI buddy! Still lurking here, but tbh I didn't want to get involved in some of the recent discussions. Thanks for remembering me; it means a lot.

All is well here, other than the usual pg complaints. 34 +1 whoo hoo! I was so glad to read about brown outie belly buttons, as I was starting to wonder if brown was normal or if it was ingrained dirt from 39 years of being an innie with the exception of last pg. My bump is also covered in itchy stretch marks, but last time they mostly vanished, so I'm not too bothered.

It's amazing to read about those of you with actual dates; it makes it all seem so much more real and scarily close now. zoey I keep thinking of you and hoping baby stays put for a while yet.

courgette hope your little boy recovers from his infection soon and you can start bf. What weight is he now? He must still be so tiny.

At long last (we put in a offer in July) we are looking to move into our new house. We had a contract signed for the 10th Jan but the builders broke it so now we get the keys permanently next weds (in theory). However, we are allowed to put some boxes in the garage this weekend so at least we can make a start. I also have a PhD viva date of the 11th Feb, so it's all go here!

plonko · 25/01/2013 08:07

Shield you have to do a viva and move house before baby arrives? You brave lady, I hope both go well for you!

Aah wine. I miss it. I work in a wine shop - well, until maternity leave of course. One of the ones with in store tastings and lots of emphasis on staff being able to give real advice. From about 6 weeks into my pregnancy everything tasted like battery acid, but I was so determined to keep tasting new things and working at tastings with up to 80 guests...it was like torture! I've got a bottle of vintage champagne as a treat for me when I feel ready again Grin.

Very jealous of those of you with dates! I had a scary few hours of reduced movements the other day, was on the verge of going to the hospital when he suddenly started kicking like a trooper and hasn't left me alone since, such a relief. Everything is starting to feel different now though, sore pelvis and period like pains, achey thighs...I'm wondering if maybe he's shifted downwards? I hope so, I have just over weeks til D-day and would love to know when he's going to arrive.

Off to get the carseat today!

plonko · 25/01/2013 08:08

P.s Courgette sounds tough, glad to hear he's improved. How old is he now?

theTramp · 25/01/2013 09:36

If you see a reflexologist who treats pregnant ladies, which most do, they'll avoid the pressure points noted above and others. Just make sure that you ask that they treat pregnant women.

leniwhite · 25/01/2013 15:21

I couldn't do wine tasting without swallowing Shock torture!!

Keep having weird bubbly feelings just around my cervix - is that likely to be the amniotic fluid squishing around as LO squiggles? Got 'lightning crotch' too, dangerous combo when walking around shops - feels like I could just wee at any moment... Very odd. His hands are right by that bit so maybe it's that. Really not keen on wetting myself or anything else in public!

Procrastinating massively at work today, just hurts to look at the screen (my glasses are wrong now but no point changing them so I'm doing without, squinting a lot) and I feel really restless. Dying to get home and carry on sorting the flat out.

OH bought Call Of bloody Duty yesterday so guaranteed he won't have done anything useful today, his work pattern means he's on nights five days then off five days so he could actually put the cot together or finish the decorating, but he seems to just fanny about trying to find the cheapest newborn nappies online...

theTramp · 25/01/2013 18:02

Leni - weird bubbles sound familiar. Like little volcanic erruptions? If so, I have been experiencing this for ages. Figured it was just Socs springing around in there.

If wee escaping is a real worry wear a pad, at least it means tiny escapage won't embarass you.

SoYo · 25/01/2013 18:22

Bloody hell I'm so relieved someone else has mentioned the bubbles! I thought I was going mad! At first I kept thinking it was my mobile vibrating in my pocket and then realising I didn't have it in my pocket but have since realised it's Bubba! Think there's bubbles being blown in there in some fashion!

I had a massive paddy at work today and cried in front of many people, just out of sheer discomfort and exhaustion.....looked like a real dick! Ooops! Now safely home and in very comfy leggings and hoodie, sitting on the sofa with PuppyMonster while it's once again snowing heavily and DH is cooking dinner....much better! Have also cracked open a bottle of banana milkshake....the glamour of pregnancy!

leniwhite · 25/01/2013 19:06

I don't I really will wee! It just feels like it because of everything swishing around in there.

Haha, brown belly buttons, bubbles, banana milkshake...

SoYo sorry you're feeling emotional - glad you've got your feet up now Wink

LowennaGirl · 26/01/2013 08:18

Hi-just found this thread-wish id found it earlier! I'm due 16/3/13 with our first baby so hoping this is right one to join? Some of you seem to have had your babes already? Have enjoyed reading the posts, really nice to hear about other people going through some of the same experiences. I've recently started sleeping less well and started reading mumsnet and baby name sites in the middle of the night!! And only thought today to click on the ante-natal club link. Good luck everyone :)
