Hello all..,
Let's clog up a brand spanking new club over here Smile

(By hello all, I guess I mean hello hazle. Hopefully the others will join us soon...)

Err you know I said I couldn't figure out how you could wear over bump trousers with the bump band 'in'? Turns out if you're NOT a half wit like me it's remarkably easy. I just got the wrong end of the stick Blush at least I figured it out in the end eh!

Rache1S · 02/02/2013 16:54

Spill the beans then Purple, how do you do it? Having it all bagging around my belly is what's putting me off buying any over bump ones.

Purplemonster · 02/02/2013 17:07

Well I feel daft but when they said about wearing it 'in' that's what I did - pulled trousers up with band and all fabric tucked inside so the elastic ended up digging in my hips which are obviously wider than my ribs. Quite by accident today because the excess fabric was bugging me I wiggled the elastic band down so it was around my waist just above jeans waistband then tucked the excess fabric of the band down between the two, like you're tucking a t shirt in. Result - handy kangaroo style carrying pouch tucked between the two waistbands and really comfy jeans! It seems so obvious now! So trick is, jeans on, bump band up over tummy, wiggle elastic band to wherever is comfy for you then tuck any excess bump band into your jeans. These things shod come with bleedin instructions!

BraveLilBear · 02/02/2013 18:22

Lol... Another one for the mat trousers blog purple :)

I had a shocker of a day yesterday arvo at work. My same level colleague suddenly asked me to drop everything and do an extra piece of work, which needed turning round in 3 hours or less.

Had mini paddy, saying why couldn't someone have asked me earlier and bemoaning the lack of protocol/planning but agreed to do it, albeit a smudge huffily.

Next thing I know, same same level colleague asks me ' for a word' and basically has a go at me for disrespecting our boss! Our boss is pretty useless, but had nothing to do with this... She may have nominated me while I was on the phone dealing with something else, but I have no clue as she never spoke to me at all.

don't know why but this hadhas totally hacked me off. Want to tell same level colleague I wasn't disrespecting boss, I was pissed off at her telling me what to do, but was so taken aback by her being patronising I was a bit dumbfounded by it all.

Couldn't sleep well last night as a result! Think I'm a hormonal mentalist :(

Purplemonster · 02/02/2013 18:43

That is not hormonal or mentalist Bear, I would have been thoroughly pissed off in those circumstances hormonal or not!
Oh and just for your info, those work trousers washed and came out of the tumble drier looking like they'd been ironed so add easy care to my recommendation Smile

BelissimaLol · 02/02/2013 20:01

Well I gave in and bought some over the bump jeggings. They are so comfortable!!! Also bought a t shirt that says #handsoffthebump from new look which is quite cute. Then bought some size 16 suit trousers for 6 quid from tesco and that will do for my uniform until I give in to mat ones. Feeling quite happy now.
Having pizza and doughnuts for dinner as all alone. Well need something to cheer myself up Grin

Rache1S · 03/02/2013 12:16

Lol I found it quite mentally difficult to move from my normal clothes into maternity. Sort of like putting on weight and then not wanting to admit you've gained a dress size, which is ridiculous considering it is for the reason of growing a baby rather than over-indulging on pies. Or maybe not

Brave your colleague sounds like he/she needs bringing down a peg or two. You can't 'have a word' with someone on the same level as you!

Purple, o great oracle of maternity-wear advice, have you found that maternity clobber is sized a bit on the big side? I ordered a load of stuff online from various places in my normal pre-pregnancy sizes and it's all a bit big! I mean not just on the belly but all over. I am obviously working to correct this with the Smarties Grin

I have a very kicky baby this lunchtime and I can't get my head around whether it's the nicest feeling in the world or something quite horrific! A reminder that there is a an alien being living inside me leeching off my Smarties goodness!

Purplemonster · 03/02/2013 13:14

Yes I think they are sized a bit big Rach, they're quite baggy on the bottom and thighs on me but I expect it's because most people expand all over a bit so it's probably growing room for when we all bloat up!

Rache1S · 03/02/2013 14:56

I'm perhaps hopelessly hoping i'll be one of the lucky few who just gets a belly and doesn't put it on elsewhere, in which case my maternity skinny jeans will continue to look a bit daft. Hmm

On a positive note, at 19+4 I have finally had to buy a bra in the next cup size.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/02/2013 17:33

Am back here after a long time - still afraid to get excied! will go and have a nosy around to see what I've missed.

HazleNutt · 03/02/2013 18:27

I'm really tempted by some gorgeous bundles of baby clothes on ebay, but don't want to buy anything before the next scan, just in case..
Way toooo long to wait.

Was also trying to figure out which of my summer clothes still fit, for the holiday. Good news - several pairs of shorts and skirts still totally wearable under the bump. Bad - any slightly tighter dress makes me look like a barrel from behind. I've always had a relatively decent waistline, but I swear I'm just straight up and down now. Sigh...not one of those women then who just get a bump and you couldn't even tell they're pregnant otherwise.

Purplemonster · 03/02/2013 19:21

It does seem to be forever until the scan doesn't it, I'm refraining from buying anything until after as well, I'm removing temptation by not looking at all until I know gender.
I'm suffering this weekend though, started with back ache and pains in the sides of my stomach on Friday which have increased in severity over the weekend to the point that I'm now in total agony. Taken paracetamol bit it's barely touching the pain so feeling a bit sorry for myself. Not sure whether to phone the midwife in the morning and mention it or not, sounds silly saying my back hurts but honestly I'm in agony!

janey1234 · 03/02/2013 19:22

Oh no purple are you ok? Is it backache?
Hope you're not feeling to rough. And not sure what advice to give but I guess if I was in that much pain I would call them...?

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 03/02/2013 19:26

I've had some pain but I'm pretty sure agony is not normal, I would certainly give them a call.

BelissimaLol · 03/02/2013 20:07

Our old thread has gone a bit mad, have you noticed? People banned, arguing with other threads... Not nice! Almost glad we've been evicted!
Think I'm buying a winter dress and leggings from amazon.
Question- what are you doing about bras? I used to be 34c. Then bought a 34d which is now a bit tight. Do I buy 34dd or 36c, or even 36d??? Can't decide and have no time to be measured.

HazleNutt · 03/02/2013 20:23

Depends on if the 34D is too tight because the back is actually too small, or the cups are - many people go up a back size when they really need a bigger cup. And if it's the cups, the 36 won't offer enough support. Easiest of course is to try all of the sizes mentioned. If you have a tape measure, what are your measurements at the moment?

Rache1S · 03/02/2013 20:30

Lol the bra I bought today was £4 from Asda because I can't be arsed to go get measured properly knowing they are going to carry on growing. I figure at that price I can afford to get the size wrong and just buy another one! Luckily I got it right today.

Yes the old thread did go a bit bonkers for a while but it is still compulsive stalking viewing! I didn't think she did anything bad enough to deserve a ban but there seems to be a lot of it about at the moment on MN. And I thought we loved in a country of free speech. Confused

Purple I have been suffering from back ache and what I assume is ligament pain at the sides of my pelvis. It's a bit uncomfortable but certainly not agony so I would definitely see what your MW or Doctor think. I would feel the same about not wanting to sound silly but at the end of the day your/baby's well-being is more important so give them a call.

Welcome back Zombies!!! Grin

janey1234 · 03/02/2013 20:30

I know, the old thread went nuts for a while there. People popping in from other threads, poor viv got banned. Loving their sausage chat though!

OP posts:
Purplemonster · 03/02/2013 20:41

Thank for the sympathy, I've a feeling that since it's back and front ache it's maybe actually hip related. It's not as bad now but to my shame I was practically in tears at my MILs earlier it was so bad, she gave me a hot water bottle and paracetamol and the comfy chair bit I did feel foolish.
I'm very envious that everyone else needs new bras, my boobs have grown but obviously not as much as i'm still fitting in my old bra, it's a wee bit small now but it sounds like everyone else has been more blessed, I'm jealous!
I will need to go bra shopping soon though as I'd gone up a couple of sizes just before I got pregnant so I've literally only got one bra as I knew we were going to be ttc just as i changed size so didn't want to buy a load in case I got pregnant and they didn't fit anymore. Bra shopping bamboozles me though.

Rache1S · 03/02/2013 20:53

Envy not Purple, mine have hardly grown at all. Sad I think the next size up which I have just bought represents my optimism and desire for them to grow more than the actual necessity for a bigger bra!

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/02/2013 21:28

On the subject of bras, I'm only 10+1 and I went for a bra fitting yesterday at John Lewis. Got a very nice non underwired contoured bra and a plain non wired JL own brand bra. Hate non underwired bras! Got to see if I can make my peace with them for a few months.
Anyway, I'm normally a reluctant 36C (was happiest when i used to be a 34B) and I seem to have shot up to 38F for one bra and 38E for the other!!!
I have taken to calling them gazoombas. Hmm

HazleNutt · 03/02/2013 21:37

Zombies there is no need to get rid of underwires just because you're pregnant - as long as they fit properly.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/02/2013 21:41

Apparently with underwires at least the JL people seemed to think I should go in every month for a fitting!!
Found some flexible wire bras which I believe won't dig in so am going to try those.
Bloody gazoombas need to stop growing else i'll have spent myself out of home and hearth trying to buy scaffolding bras.

HazleNutt · 03/02/2013 21:47

Ah yes that's probably true Grin, I've gone from 32F to 34G by now, that's almost a size per month indeed.
But there's no way I will wear a non-underwired ones outside the house, so I guess I'll just have to keep buying..

Rache1S · 03/02/2013 21:52

There is some very impressive boobage going on in this thread Envy
