Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ha ha!

We're already considering how on earth we are going to manage it anyway. Think there's probably one possible position :-/

RedRobin1 · 16/05/2013 20:02

Haha you girls are funny Smile I hope baby is okay.

I don't think I can look at DH without retching right now. There will be no sex in the robin household for a long time! I don't feel sexy at all.

My boobs are the only thing that look good. Stomach is gassy and bloated. I am retching every two hours. No sickness yet. Just the bloody nausea and retching.

kittykatsforever · 16/05/2013 20:30

You may not ever be sick red, I only ever felt nauseous but its not pleasent whichever way
I feel as sexy as a hipo right now and although I know dtd might help I just don't think I could bear it, I'm sure dh would oblige but I have no sex drive at all!
Dh bday tomorrow wouldn't it be nice if the present I could give him was a new baby girl Grin I'd so love that ..... Come on baby !!!!!!

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 08:02

I am glad about the sex-ban in our house, it's better for my cervix risk but even if we didn't have that, I just don't think I could, would be so worried about prodding the baby and I remember I used to shut the cat out the room as it freaked me out if she watched so I wouldn't like the idea of a baby lying between us either! Although the cat was on the bed the night we conceived baby Alex haha, we just didn't realise haha!

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 08:07

Come on Kitty's baby...time to exit :-)

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 08:19

kitty are you trying anything else to encourage baby kitty? Just wondered. I heard pineapple helps?! Something to do with a chemical in it?

RedRobin1 · 17/05/2013 08:34

kitty my brother arrived early as my mum ate a curry the night before and drove through a bumpy road with potholes in a 4x4. come on Kitty's baby.

I can't think of sex at all, def not turned on. I nearly murdered DH for putting aftershave on this morning. I seem to only like liquidy foods like cucumbers, tomatoes, melons, oranges - anything with water intake in the day time. I have to force some carbs down in the evening or I am not sure what my poor baby will be getting to eat :(

The food thing is getting quite bad. I can't even eat biscuits, bananas, crisps or anything rich in the day time. Just typing it is making me nauseous. Eating is becoming such a chore. I seem to have gone off food.

To top it off - my boobs have decided to grow some more and it hurts and feels like they are trying to stretch through skin I don't have!!! Any suggestions on sleeping comfortably at night without boob ache? Shall I wear a soft bra to bed? I can't even bear my boobs touching each other when I roll to the side.

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 08:38

red I totally sympathise on the food thing, was exactly the same for me. It's got a bit better now at 12 weeks, eat what you can and don't eat yourself up. I fancied the same type of liquidy light foods, I also managed to eat a lot of cheese as fancied that and told myself it was protein. Oh and nice yoghurts. Heard the food aversions get better in 2nd trimester so hang on in there.

No help on boobs. Mine are a b cup usually and might be touching on c now but nothing to write home about! I wanted mine to grow but actually maybe I don't want the pain by the sounds of it!

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 08:40

Although could you hug a thin pillow and put it between your boobs if there's room? I wouldn't sleep in a bra for circulation reasons but maybe if you have a really soft one?

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 08:41

Oh and haha I meant don't beat yourself up, not don't eat yourself up, but that made me laugh when I just spotted it! Grin

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 08:44

Red, it's you who will go without. Baby will get everything it needs from you, while you'll be the one who is deficient in stuff if you're not eating. Are you taking a vitamin tablet still?

Alex, apparently you have to eat 9 whole pineapples to get any effect. Not sure I could cope with that!

I have heard that holding a newborn baby can help due to the hormones released and your baby realising it is safe to come out. Thankfully my friend will be giving birth any day now, so we can test that one!

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 08:46

Oh, and I've been wearing a vest top in bed since I got pregnant to hold my boobs in.

You can buy sleep bras too, which would probably be better for you.

I got 2 from Jojo Maman Bebe for 16 quid. I googled and got a 10% off code too. Maybe worth trying.

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 08:48

mrsb maybe I shouldn't hold my friend's newborn this Sat as with a weak cervix, it's early labour you're at risk of?

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 08:53

I'm not sure if it works that early.

I held a young baby at about 20 weeks and nothing happened! Probably just another old wive's tale!

I actually think that baby comes when it's ready, whatever we do!

RedRobin1 · 17/05/2013 09:31

Alex - i have been doing that for 2 weeks - sleeping with a pillow in between my boobs to stop them from touching, but now that its growing, the thin pillow isn't working. I might try a sleep bra nic thanks

First tri is so not glamourous. Instead of a glow, I have dark circles, spots, bad wind and gas, no appetite and lack of sleep at night. How lovely!

oh its made me feel better that baby is getting all the food atleast. I have been taking my vitamins but even those are getting harder to swallow without retching. I do take them religiously.

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 09:38

The one thing you MUST do is drink at least 2 litres of fluid a day. Baby really needs you to be hydrated. And if you don't drink enough you're at risk of low amniotic fluid levels as well as, ironically, water retention.

If you're properly struggling with fluid intake / keeping fluid down go to see your GP.

Not so glamorous this preggo lark, is it?!

Oh, Baby B has officially found my ribs now. I'm lucky in that being tall he's had room to grow without my ribs being involved. All change today, and now he's determined to use the new space he's found! Oh, and if I have the cheek to rest my arm on my right side I get a good kicking so I bog off :-/ Baby is now boss.

RedRobin1 · 17/05/2013 09:47

Eeeep! 2 litres! You've got to be kidding. I am managing just under 500ml a day - do the liquids foods make up for it?

kittykatsforever · 17/05/2013 09:50

To be honest I'm not a great believer in all the old wives tales for those they work for its probably due to the baby being ready as much as anything else but ill keep bouncing on my ball and hoping!
Have you had your booking in app etc red?
Anyone else with scan dates ect approaching?

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 09:54

You get some liquid from food, red, but you really need to be drinking more! At least it's early days for starting to get into the habit :-)

And I'm the same as you really, kitty. If those things worked no baby would ever be late! I'm still willing to try sex though. Just!

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 10:26

Argh I've not been thirsty at all, yesterday I only had a couple of glasses of fizzy water and orange juice! I was worrying about that as heard other preggers women get thirsty and drinks lot but I told myself my body would demand it if it needed it. Maybe not and I really need to drink more? This is tmi but I noticed since getting preggers that my pee is quite yellow, I wondered if that was normal but maybe I do need to drink more. Problem is water make me feel sick (usually like it) and I don't want to drink loads of sugary fizzy drinks Confused

Kittenkatzen · 17/05/2013 12:51

Ooh thanks for the sleep bra link nic, I've been meaning to look for something to keep these puppies under control. Will save for payday Smile

alex/red have you tried sipping really weak dilutable squash if plain water/sugary drinks aren't working for you? Also, I'd forgotten until now, but when I went off tea & coffee in the early days I started drinking hot water instead (it tastes different to cold water!), again with a teeny splash of squash sometimes. Might be worth a go in the interests of getting some liquid into you?

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 12:58

Don't forget to google for a discount code when you order. I know it's only £1.60 off, but every little helps! :-)

Alexandra6 · 17/05/2013 12:59

Ooh that made me heave, yep I'm def not fancying plain hot water (maybe it's because I had that quite a bit at the beginning when the nausea was kicking in). Funnily enough I am sipping diluted natural squash at the moment, red I recommend bottlegreen natural squashes in ginger or elderflower flavours.

I wish I had puppies to control! Mine are more those tiny, ridiculously small yappy little handbag dogs, but at least they're behaving in pregnancy and are only a teensy bit sore!

Quick question - thinking of not going on my holiday at 18 weeks because a) it means my short cervix can't be scanned for three weeks or more and I want them to really keep an eye in case they need to get a stitch in urgently and b) I heard cabin pressure induces labour and am worried the cabin pressure/oxygen change might weaken my cervix. I'd be GUTTED to lose money and not go but am anxious about going. What would you all do in my situation?

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 13:17

I would ask your consultant about it. If he thinks you shouldn't go he can write you a letter so you can claim off your insurance for the cost.

I flew at 4 and 5 weeks' pregnant and was fine. Kitten has flown more recently / later in pregnancy and is also fine. But I'd just get medical opinion for your particular circumstance. :-)
