I had about 3 slices of cucumbers and 4 cherry tomatoes for lunch. I don't feel like eating at all. I have been sick twice already - and from what I have heard and read this is only the begining.

I can cope with eating tiny bites and only a little food. Its 2pm and I just want to crawl into bed and sleep.

kittykatsforever · 13/05/2013 16:39

Oh red boo but there are those lovely pregnancy symptoms you were waiting for ( good signs) do you like chedders I find things like that good for nauseous stomac just dry and simple and I promise you'll feel better for having something abit heavier in your tummy then abit of fruit, akso lemonade is good for upset tummy

RedRobin1 · 13/05/2013 17:02

thanks kitty I will try something heavy at dinner time - maybe a heavy carb intake.

nic crisps are proving to be the way forward - I had a whole bag full without the urge to throw up.

I was waiting for symptoms and now that they are here I cannot wait for them to pass - these are evil evil evil pregnancy symptoms - morning sickness is not very nice at all Grin

MrsBri · 13/05/2013 17:08

Red, I'm still going for twins at the moment! :-)

Go back to your GP if you really can't keep anything down as it is important you stay hydrated for baby.

Crisps kept me away from the toilet, it has to be said! But my sickness wasn't severe, just enough to be an annoyance. The nausea was hideous though.

kittykatsforever · 13/05/2013 18:20

A McDonalds also went down well for me too Wink I think your body craves salt very early

LittleMissSnowShine · 13/05/2013 18:37

red - I couldn't really eat anything at all in first tri but when I started to be able to tolerate food I found really simple plain things helped a bit - dry cereal, toast, crackers etc I normally eat really healthily and I love fruit and veg but couldn't tolerate any of that! Much better diet again now but don't feel guilty if you realise tomatoes and cucumbers aren't doing it for you at the min Grin

winkle - hope ur doing well lady!

Oh has to have his SA on Friday then we see the consultant again next weds. We're currently in the middle of shagging time (iPhone auto corrected to shafting lol) which is a nightmare as he has to abstain 2-3 days before doing the SA. We've dtd sat, last night and will dtd tonight and Friday and hope that covers us.

I have mixed feelings. Half of me thinks that 3 months not drinking has got to have helped and the other half feels hopeless :(

Alexandra6 · 14/05/2013 21:38

Hi everyone, had my 12 week scan today and it was amazing, lovely little baby moving around loads (might be the chocolate milkshake I had for breakfast!) Was so happy.

Then a bit of a downer. Insisted on seeing a consultant as I had a lletz treatment on my cervix years ago (where they remove part of your cervix due to precancerous cells). Anyway they usually only monitor it if you'd had lots of treatments done or a previous late mc, but I said I'd rather not be back there saying "I've had a late mc, can you monitor me now". So he took a look and he said the cervix does seem a bit short and he would advise a precautionary cervical stitch in two weeks. This doesn't come risk-free, it's surgery and requires local anaesthetic and I think it has a risk of membrane damage/infection, stuff like that. The doctor did say it works best done early (elective) rather than as an emergency operation later on, but it now feels like the most ridiculously big decision in the world to make. Online the stories are so mixed and confusing. I'm hopefully seeing a specialist someone recommended at a totally different hospital tomorrow (his wife had a late mc so had a stitch with her next) so am praying he can give me some advice/a second opinion. Does anyone have any experience of this - know anyone who's had it for example? What would you do?

MrsBri · 14/05/2013 21:44

Alex, if you go onto the pregnancy board there's a current thread there which also links to an older thread about just that topic.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1755773-Cervical-stitch-advice

I really feel for you having to make that decision. But yay for your bouncy baby at the scan. Xx

Alexandra6 · 14/05/2013 21:48

Thanks so much, but that's my thread Sad hasn't really shed much light yet. Feeling very stressed and anxious about the whole thing which is awful after the wait for the 12 week scan and such amazing news. Sorry to be all me, me, me today. Hope everyone is ok and winkle I've got my fingers crossed for you and your shafting Grin Hope the SA results are good.

MrsBri · 14/05/2013 21:55

Ah, sorry...hadn't noticed it was your thread. Baby brain maybe?

Personally, if it was me, I think I would have the stitch. Have you tried sending a message to the poster from the first thread?

Have you done a pros and cons list to weigh up options?

What is your instinct? Xx

MrsBri · 14/05/2013 22:00

Here's an older thread which may help with different opinions / experiences:

kittykatsforever · 15/05/2013 06:57

Hi Alex, sorry your 12wk scan experience was tainted abit by the dilemma your now in, it's a difficult one and I think if I hadn't checked it would be different but now the option is there too have it I'd have to aswell, I do know someone who's had 2 with both sucsessful pregnancys not well enough to know all the details for you I'm afraid as its a friend of a friend but I do know she had alot of mc the latest being 20wks without it ( before if was diagnosed) and it was auful, I don't think she had any problem with the stitches at all and would have another in a heart beat given the other outcome , all said though she knew what would happen without it to her and in your case obviously you don't know and neither does the surgeon, it could just be a short a cervix! I think you just have to follow your gut on it and make the desicion best for you on it Hun Hmm big hugs x

Kittenkatzen · 15/05/2013 07:32

Oh alex what a confusing day for you Sad. Hurray firstly for the lovely scan news though, so pleased that bit went well. I agree with the others that the precautionary stitch is probably what I would choose personally - dont envy you the decision though. Thanks and hugs for you.

winkle really hoping to see you over here very soon, keeping my fx for you lovely x

RedRobin1 · 15/05/2013 09:55

Oh alex sorry you have to make such a difficult decision. Big hug! Can you speak to any specialists / consultants in the hospital to see if they can talk you through the procedure and answer some of your concerns?

Fab news on the baby moving around though. Fx it all works out well in the end.

winkle let the shaftathon commence :) I know how you feel about the hopelessness and giving up, but promise you it will happen, and it does take 3 months for those spermies to improve. You and your DH have put so much into the last 3 months and all those lifestyle changes, I am sure your DH's SA will be good. Thinking of you and missing you too x

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 16/05/2013 12:41

alex sorry about the mixed news from your scan, great to see a healthy baby though.

Do they advise bed rest? It sounds like a great idea but I would probably get bored after one day.

RedRobin1 · 16/05/2013 15:36

help I am worrying! I just had a strong sneeze and had some very painful cramps (literally went 'Owww' in the middle of the room) quite worried if i have dislodged the baby :( stupid really but this time it was so much more painful and I was sitting cross legged so it hurt more. I just hope its all okay on the inside.

Alexandra6 · 16/05/2013 15:43

No red don't worry that's normal I had it! And when I laughed a lot but particularly a sneeze. I was terrified I'd dislodged it and then a friend who was 7 months pregnant said she had exactly the same pain after sneezing so I stopped worrying (for once!)

MrsBri · 16/05/2013 16:25

It's round ligament pain, ladies. Your body is stretching to get ready to accommodate baby. Sneezing, coughing and laughing, particularly in the wrong position, will now bring you pain.

Later on, it will bring you wee :-)

Kittenkatzen · 16/05/2013 17:48

Oh yes I now have to bend over to 90 degrees before I sneeze - it's a great look in the office Grin

Oh and I'll give you an advance warning for when your libido returns.....amazing O's that turn into hideous cramps. Brings tears to my eyes thinking about it!

MrsBri · 16/05/2013 17:51

That hasn't happened here, Kitten!

I've told DH we can resume relations at 37 weeks to attempt natural induction. :-)

Kittenkatzen · 16/05/2013 18:41

Ha! There's been no relations in the kitten household for a good few weeks now - I'm torn between relief and frustration! Confused

Kittenkatzen · 16/05/2013 18:42

*there have, not there's
