Red I'm so excited and happy for you! :)

RedRobin1 · 06/05/2013 08:54

I coughed at night in bed and felt strong stitches in the abdomen. This morning I had watery pink discharge on toilet paper and then a bit of brown cm. should I be worrying? AF is due today. Surely it will stop right??

MrsBri · 06/05/2013 09:01

Neither of those is fresh blood, so please don't worry too much (impossible, I know). And the stitch is round ligament pain. It's a real git and very uncomfortable indeed when coughing and sneezing etc. I suffered with it loads at the beginning.

The fact is, you are going to worry. Loads. It's totally natural. I would get into the medical system ASAP so you get contact numbers for the midwives who are always more than happy to answer questions.

Alexandra6 · 06/05/2013 09:06

red I specifically remember that stitch pain when I coughed, laughed or sneezed and my friend had it too at that stage, for her it came back during her pregnancy. My theory is it's linked to implantation somehow but I def had it, and exactly when you're having it. With the brown/pink blood, I'll be honest I didn't have that BUT lots of people do and also further into their pregnancy, and I think it's breakthrough bleeding. If it gets worse or you get pain, I'd think about seeing someone medical, if not I'd hold tight and keep everything crossed and wait it out. I've got a good feeling this is nothing to worry about but time will tell, try your best to stay calm and I'm really hoping it holds firm, the days coming up will crawl past but if all goes well, you'd have your early scan in "just" four weeks xx

RedRobin1 · 06/05/2013 09:11

Thanks bri and alex. I don't know how the next 4 weeks are going to go by!
It seems slow....

Just want to get to 6 weeks and I promise I will stop worrying. Will ring the GP tomorrow and get on the system.

Just need to get through this week.

kittykatsforever · 06/05/2013 09:22

It is very common to have abit of breakthrough spotting in the first tri especially at the time your due on, can often be errosion aswell to cervix, I've had it this time at 6wks, 14wks,18wks and when I fell over one time that turned out to be that, only lasted a day or 2 but mine has been red aswell as brown, terrifying when you've been through our situations but one of Mother Nature crueler things, I'm sure it's all fine and is very common xx

Alexandra6 · 06/05/2013 09:27

I really feel for you and they did crawl for me, I'm not going to lie, time is still slow now! A friend said to me every day to tell yourself "today I am pregnant" and I tried to occupy my mind with films (was too tired to go out much), maybe get out and enjoy the sun today though. Every day that goes by, your chances get better. I still feel like that.

I just thought DH was having some kind of fit in his sleep so woke him up and said "god, are you alright?!" Turns out he was dreaming he was playing for his team, west ham, and going in for a sliding tackle. Men are simple creatures aren't they!

RedRobin1 · 06/05/2013 10:22

I want to get to 6weeks when I can share the news with my mum! Really struggling to keep it in.

Had the pink spotting at 5.30am and nothing since. So maybe this will be a sticky one. Did another test and its still saying pregnant Smile

RedRobin1 · 06/05/2013 10:23

Heheehe alex your DH sounds just like mine! They have it too easy.

Alexandra6 · 06/05/2013 10:25

That's great the spotting has stopped and that it stayed pink/brown.

I told my mum straight away, couldn't hold it back! Also told two good friends as knew I'd need support either way. I think everyone feels differently about when to tell different people, but I don't know how some people keep it totally to themselves until three months, more patience than me! Grin

MrsBri · 06/05/2013 10:41

Red, it is the slowest and fastest 9 months of your life! And I hope you do stop worrying, though I have to admit that I have been worried for most of it. Not constantly, but on and off.

As Kitty said, bleeding is common in pregnancy. I've had it at 20 and 22 weeks. Mine is down to a little sore area on my cervix, apparently, which they picked up on the second time I had it and was subjected to an internal (midwife holding industrial torch and shining it onto my bits and doctor staring in using a speculum. Dignified!).

We are here to hold your hand, so just say anything that worries you.

Do you have anyone you call tell in RL? I told my sister and my best friend. Just so I had people I could talk to.

RedRobin1 · 06/05/2013 11:12

Going to tell my mum and sister next week. I don't think I can even wait till 6weeks. Need to talk to someone else besides DH in RL.

Don't know what I would have done without this thread.

Will tell my in laws and mates 2 weeks later.

Kittenkatzen · 06/05/2013 15:07

Oh yaayyyy red that's brilliant news I'm SO pleased for you!! Agree with everyone else, try not to worry about the spotting especially if it's when AF would have been due anyway. nic's right though, from this point on there is always something to be worrying about, so make sure you come here to do it so we can all talk sense back into you GrinGrin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 06/05/2013 19:45

red don't worry about the spott

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 06/05/2013 19:46

Spotting. The same happened to me during this pregnancy. Tested early and when af came I got brown / pink spotting.

If you stop worrying at 6 weeks you are a better woman than me. Grin

RedRobin1 · 06/05/2013 20:45

I haven't spotted anymore since last night. AF was due today and for the first time in 18 years she has not arrived. It's still sinking in.

Went for a lovely walk in the park with hubby and we were making a mental list about all the things we will need to do in the next 8 months. But for now we are just enjoying the moment.

kitty and mrsbri sorry haven't read all the way back but I guess you are both next in line to pop? It must be so exciting.

Going to try and have a worry free 8months but I have feeling it will be next to impossible Smile

kiwi5 · 06/05/2013 21:05

Official congrats red! Am so pleased for you. The worrying ebbs and flows, this bit is scary but hang on in there!
Hello everyone else, am so rubbish at posting. Start mat leave at the end of the month so hoping to post a bit more then. 34 weeks at the mo. Going ok,tons of braxton hicks and nesting urges!
Hope everyone has had a good weekend?

MrsBri · 07/05/2013 08:35

Kitty is first, and I thought I was next, but kiwi is! Then I'm very close after that!

Exciting and scary at the same time. But having a baby will be amazing!

I had to play with baby's feet all afternoon yesterday, if I stopped I got a kicking to carry on! So adorable :-) Then the head dropped a bit. Ouchy. But it's about time baby headed into position!

kittykatsforever · 07/05/2013 12:58

How are you today red? Has the spotting stopped? X

kittykatsforever · 07/05/2013 13:49

RedRobin1 · 07/05/2013 15:35

Aww nic that sounds lovely... sorry I get so tempted to use nic than mrsbri I want to feel something... I know its early days, but I just feel like my usual post AF self.

No CM, no twinges, no mood swings, no nausea, enlarged boobs that are not sore. I am grateful for no morning sickness. Don't want that to start.

I had a tiny bit of pink CM today, but I am not worrying.

I have been zooming around a lot in the office, and keep having to remind myself to slow down :)

Got my first midwife appt in first week of June - gah! its soo far away.

kiwi thanks! 34 weeks wow - getting so close. hope you are enjoying the weather and putting your feet up!

MrsBri · 07/05/2013 15:56

Nic is fine! :-)

And apart from growing boobs I had no symptoms. In fact, no CM actually was a kind of symptom for me, but it isn't one that you really think about!

Until morning sickness started around week 7 for about 10 or so weeks!

My boobs are still growing, in fact :-)

It's good that you're not worrying too much. You're a better woman than me! My poor DH has had to talk sense into me a few times now. Ah well!

June isn't that far away. It'll be here before you know it.

Did you decide whether you're going to have an early private scan yet? And is it still surreal?

Make sure you tell HR straight away in confidence as you need your rights to kick in.

Kittenkatzen · 07/05/2013 16:11

slow down red, you're pregnant! GrinGrin I also have had very few symptoms, and almost zero morning sickness. I think my most prominent symptom was permanent hunger, and even that didn't kick in until around week 6 I think. Maybe you'll just be one of the lucky ones Smile

On the movement front, I was a little worried earlier on as I'd left lunch a bit late and hadnt felt baby move for what seemed quite a while....so I bought a big, healthy pasta salad for lunch with loads of fresh veggies and hot chillies in to try and wake baby up - not a peep. Then just now I took two bites out of a piece of chocolate chip cake, and baby is having a party for one in there!! definitely doesn't take after me oh no Grin

RedRobin1 · 07/05/2013 16:15

Thinking of telling HR as my jobs involves a huge amount of travel and STRESS (yes all capitals!) They want me to fly out on a project to Ireland! I am not flying in the first trimester.... not when its taken us so long to get here.

I promised myself that when and if I would get pregnant post CP, I will try to enjoy it and not worry so much. Plus I remember my mum telling me once abou when she was pregnant with me she was happy and cheerful and stress free - result - I was a very happy baby and a very laid back person in RL. With my sister - she worried constantly and was super stressed through her pregnancy - result - my sister is a big worrier, she worries about the tiniest of things and is always stressed about her life.

So I am trying to be happy during my pregnancy :) whatever will be, will be.

Out of curiosity - what did your first appointments with the midwife involve? Will she do any checks?

Can't wait to tell my mum this week - just thinking of ways to announce it as they live in a different country. SKYPE will be the way forward.

RedRobin1 · 07/05/2013 16:17

haha kitten choc does the trick!! I can't wait to get to that phase where I can feel the baby, play with it and feel the kicks... sounds so dreamy!
