Sept 2013?

legoboat · 22/12/2012 19:42

Hello - bit early, but I definitely had two positives this morning, wanted to check on drinking vodka this evening or not. I make due date 4th Sep 2013.
I had to terminate a pregnancy in late Sep at 13ish weeks because of incompatible with life diagnosis, so hope that doesn't happen again (I have a 25% chance but hopefully I'll fall in the 75% this time).

OP posts:

I can't bring myself to spend £95 on a private scan either, though I'd really like to! Did a clear blue test this morning as my sister gave us a left over one of hers, and it showed the timer and then nothing!! Blank screen! Just what I need as I've had no symptoms (other than big, sore boobs) for the past several days! Grrrrr!
Ah well, best eat a sausage roll and try not to worry about it...

jm233 · 13/01/2013 16:18

Sgj- that happened to me with a clearblue ovulation test! It's bloody annoying, esp as you have to save up your wee all over again!

KamikazeeKid · 13/01/2013 16:36

Another q for you that previously had a section. ...what are your thoughts for your next birth? I'm not really thinking that far ahead until/if everything is ok...

Would you opt for another section or natural?

I had an emergency section as nearly lost my boy as the hospital refused to see me!!! But I refused to leave and they whipped me into theatre and got him out. They actually told me they should have picked up his issues the previous week when I first said something was wrong and they took me in for monitoring but the nursr didn't do it right!! So understandably I have little faith in them and worry about 2nd tine round..,,im remaining open minded at the moment and googling like mad lol!!

On countdown to scan now.....I've not got a private one the epu suggested mine luckily (or not depending on how you look ar it!)

Have remembered how much I hated pregnancy worrying! !! I had one mmc and one mc before my yummy boy.

Whyriskit · 13/01/2013 16:48

I've had 2 emcs for failure to progress. 53 hours with DS1, only got to 6cm, less with DS2 but he was in distress. I'm going to request a section this time!

Preposteroushypothesis · 13/01/2013 16:49

whyriskit and sjg you should double check that your local epu doesn't have a walk in clinic, I didn't know mine did until the FMU told me to go there when I queried dates and its the same hospital I had DD at so gutted I didn't know the first time! You don't have to get referred there you just rock up and tell them you're not sure of dates or if you have concerns and they were lovely to me. I don't know whether this is very common but worth a check to set your mind at rest and completely free!

No c-section advice here but I hope it is good news for you!

Pheww hackney, thought it was just me for a bit there, I already dug out my old maternity clothes for that reason but discovered I must have chucked my maternity jeans! So I'm also living in jumper dresses for now Grin

MrsMangoBiscuit · 13/01/2013 17:49

Kamikazee, I had an emcs with DD. Now I have a fair bit of pain on one side, but it's very much in my hip, like the inside of the hip joint. I also have back problems and had SPD 1st time round, so I thought it might be related to that.

As for next birth (crosses fingers), I swore after last time I would do all I could for a VBAC as I took so long to recover. With the back troubles I hold a lot of my weight through my abs rather than my spine. Didn't realise how much so until I couldn't use those muscles. I spent 2 weeks trying to sleep on a recliner sofa as I couldn't physically get into bed. I would like to avoid that if possible. :)

TripleRock · 13/01/2013 18:12

Kamikazee, I had a crash section with DD. I am actually considering a home VBAC as I feel I would get better treatment and care in early labour from the home birth team.

However, failing that I will try for a hospital vbac.

The only thing that would prompt me to go CS again would be if baby goes into an arkward position I think. But we'll see.

Can I ask, are people taking Vit D supplements?

andadietcoke · 13/01/2013 18:20

TripleR I am, but not sure why!!! I must have read it somewhere but no idea what the rationale was!

CarrieJayne · 13/01/2013 18:56

I'm taking pregnacare which supposedly covers everything, my gp said it was the main supplement that women use.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 13/01/2013 19:04

I've just been scanning through and trying to catch up with thread, which is huge already. Preposterous and hackney, I too am looking rather bloated around the middle. I wasn't exactly slim to start with, so hopefully everyone will think I just got fat over Christmas! BlushGrin

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/01/2013 19:10

TripleRock I'm taking pregnacare conception. I think CarrieJayne's GP is right because it's the one recommended by other mummy friends. (I also used their breastfeeding one last time). I checked on the website and it said it contains 300% of the RDA of vitamin D. I'm not sure why we need so much though!

cravingformilk · 13/01/2013 19:18

Hello everyone, is there room for one more?

I'm 28, married, BFP 11th Jan, Due 7th Sept ish, DC2

We have been trying for 2 1/2 years so to finally get a BFP is a huge shock. We'd practically given up TTC and had long stopped tracking dates, ovulation etc... I have no idea when my LMP was! I think it could have been around the start of Dec but I can't honestly remember. I'd been having symptoms for a while but passed it off as bad period pains, finally gave in and tested on Friday.

Going to see the GP tomorrow - doesn't seem real at the moment.

Thornintherose · 13/01/2013 19:49

Hi all! can I join you?

Just got my BFP today and am due the 24th of September give or take a few days I think.

I already have a 16 month old who was a September baby so am quite worried about having a toddler and newborn! I am still breastfeeding as well now and need to decide whether to stop soon or just carry on and tandem feed. Is anyone else still breastfeeding?

Congratulations to all of you as well!

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 13/01/2013 19:54

Think were told to take vitamin D as cases of rickets is on the rise. A lack of sunshine, which is Scotland is understandable, but it seems a lot of Muslim women are getting it as they're covered up.

My nausea has gone which is bothering me a little but trying not to freak out about everything. Hope everyone's well.

jennimoo · 13/01/2013 20:01

Hi thornintherose. I was BFing when I got BFP but over the last few weeks DD age 2.3 has cut down to 2 tiny feeds, and I think we've now weaned (last feed lunch time yesterday)! Didn't expect to but feels right.

girlwiththeyellowhat my nausea is slightly less today, just trying to make the most if it and eat the posh chocolates I had for christmas :)

And down here (Hampshire) the early scan is only £60 so not as bad as £95!

TripleRock · 13/01/2013 20:07

Thanks everyone. NHS choices says folic acid and vit D. But when I asked the pharmacist in Sainsburys she looked at me completely blank Hmm But I've started taking it now anyway just to be on the safe side.

Thorn I'm nursing DD 2.2, I had been letting her self wean. I would be open to the idea of her weaning during pregnancy, which I believe can happen around the midway point. But also not adverse to the idea of tandum nursing. DD only feeds once a day anyway so not too taxing. Probably just follow her lead.

However thats why I wanted to be clear on supplements. Given I have now been either preg or BF for the last 3 years I wouldn't be surprised if my vit levels needed a boost!

georgie22 · 13/01/2013 20:16

Jmf - Positive thoughts coming your way. It's such a worrying time and I seem to constantly be counting the days down plus continuing my knicker checks. I'm also 39 but I'm trying not to be too concerned about that as I've got a few friends who have had uncomplicated pregnancies at that age. My last pregnancy was 3 years ago now and my risk of abnormality at nuchal scan was that of a teenager, which I know has no bearing on this pregnancy but I felt that all the negative press about 'older' mothers affected my ability to enjoy that stage of pregnancy.

We are planning for a private scan at about 8 weeks; we did it last time and it did give me some reassurance, at least for a short time! Symptom wise I have vague occasional nausea (morning sickness was not a major issue last time round), stretching pelvic discomfort at times, sore boobs and an overwhelming tiredness which hits me when I sit down in the evening.

Hope everyone has had good weekends and the snow doesn't cause too much disruption!

andadietcoke · 13/01/2013 20:17

How is everyone? I've got loads of little twinges/aches today, but this time last pg it was nearly all over, so feeling thankful for that, at least.

It's snowing here - I'm so excited! Well, until I have to drive to work in it tomorrow!!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 13/01/2013 20:55

I'm doing ok today. I had a total emotional meltdown last night, but I actually feel slightly more positive today. I can't manage the fatalistic "what will be will be" stance, but I'm not as terrified as I was yesterday! I developed a slight pain (left sided) last night, but it was gone this morning and came back this evening, so I'm putting it down to bowels! Confused I'm on lactulose to help things along a bit, and I've got lots of wind bubbling about. I'm thinking there's a corner down there where its getting stuck!
My symptoms are less than they were but definitely still there. I'm starting to think that my earlier sickness was due to a virus doing the rounds at Christmas. I've settled down to sore boobage, a slightly odd feeling tummy and decreased appetite. They come and go, but it is very early days and they are definitely there.
I have my next blood test tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a nice rise in hCG please. X

andadietcoke · 13/01/2013 21:08

CatPuss I've had a lot of this, and it's actually helping. Every ache and pain I just put down to gas, so I don't panic and google. I've found gaviscon to work quite well, and lying on my left side with a hand under my hip works well too.

Good luck for tomorrow. How has your DH been the last couple of days? Hopefully he's reconciling everything and getting used to the idea?

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 13/01/2013 21:13

Hello all,

I posted on the pregnancy thread too, but thought I would pop on here and see if you lovely ladies have any wisdom to share!

I took a test on Monday, was very surprised indeed when it was positive! LMP was around the 6th of December, but I have 21 day cycles, so I am unsure where I am in terms of weeks. I am 33, (34 next month) and I have a DD (nearly 9) and a DS (6). I was always desperate for more children, but DH was very anti, so I had accepted that my family was complete and had made my peace with it.

I am absolutely thrilled now, really chuffed, but so far it has not been smooth going! Have had some spotting on Wednesday, and a little bit more today. Really, really small amounts, to the point where I'm not sure I'd have noticed had I not been wearing white knickers! I've not had any cramping, so am holding on to hope, but also am terrified that something has gone wrong. Just wish I could see in there!

I have symptoms - my boobs are very sore, and I am absolutely exhausted, also have indigestion and very, very mild nausea. However, this worries me in itself, as with both of the others I was sick as a dog. Has anyone ever been really sick in a pregnancy and then had a totally different experience in others?

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 13/01/2013 21:18

Bleurgh! Nothing on Earth would compel me to take Gaviscon! I still have flash backs to the time I tried one of the chewable tablets when I was PG with DD!
DP is doing his normal thing and burying his head in the sand. He refuses to bring the subject up until we know if the PG is potentially viable. I don't mind overly. It's his way. He doesn't really like change.

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 13/01/2013 21:21

MyName, when I was PG with DS, I had very mild nausea and a tinny taste in my mouth, I was always hungry.
With DD I was severely nauseous. Never sick but almost. My appetite was shot and I lived on beef and tomato cuppa soup for 6 weeks!

andadietcoke · 13/01/2013 21:45

To be honest I think we're both doing that. We don't talk about it at all. I wonder whether he's hoping I don't get excited. It's just a coping mechanism like any other I guess. Fx everything will go well tomorrow.

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 13/01/2013 21:49

I'm hoping that by the time we find out things are going to plan, he will have forgotten to be cross! Smile
