What lovely news to get up to this morning, Ticketytock Thanks Thanks and what a gorgeous name! Congratulations to you and MrTock, so very happy for you Thanks

clickingtock · 07/01/2013 10:30

Thank you so much for your v lovely messages, giving birth with Brookers on your side makes it all extra special. Lovely to see Solars and Sweetie over here too. Thanks Yes, it's amazing that DS was right and sonographer was such a tease. Grin

Wasn't really sure if waters did break but I suspect so as we'd just had a walk in the woods with DS and dog. Luckily DP and I had given each other an extra sleep earlier too. After that I was on yoga ball by fire and chatting with DS as DP filled pool but cx got quite fiery and I got into bath. Felt a bit more intense than first and realised I needed DP to myself; bit clingy. He was trying to cook tea for DS as well as get room/pool ready. Phoned friend to help get DS in bed and then i got in pool with v excited DS pulling up a chair and stroking my hair. he gave me a toy tractor! DP decided to phoneMWs. I think trainee arrived just before 6.30. Two more -,all really lovely. Was surging every 2 mins by then. Q loud birth and fierce cx compared to first so gladbsomeone had helped with DS. Somehow they managed to ck my bp, then baby's hr, that was about all the checking they managed as was hardly a break between surges and I started to bear down. TMI but we got to use free gift of sieve with pool this time. GrinBlush Was a bit sick and after 4 pushes she crowned and shoulders came straight away: she needed me to pick her up from pool (8.06pm). Eyes wide open and only a little bit of crying. DP had been brilliant, v calm and +. I cut cord after a while. Placenta came a bit slowly nearly an hour later while DP had skin to skin. Poor MWs had loads of paperwork but we drank tea and they were v complimentary about birth. Couple of stitches which we debated as necessary but went for it just in case. Astrid fed til 2am ! and has had big sleeps. Loves the breast tho I can tell it will hurt just as much as first time. Will soldier on. DS was v lovely this am, cuddling, kissing and saying she is cute. Wants her to play trains.Wink I've had a bit of kip. Feel,in awe of having a son and daughter. Oxytocin high? Smile

Sorry not short and pithy as intended.... Blush

Sorry also for mememe, will read your news properly soon. Thanks again Brooksters. Xxxx

GreenOlives · 07/01/2013 11:17

Lovely birth story! Grin Everything sounds so chilled and you sound so calm and happy now - it's made me a bit emotional! Smile Lots of love to all the Tock clan! xx

cartoontrickster · 07/01/2013 11:18

just popping in to say congrats to tock and what a lovely name! Thanks Thanks Thanks

GreenOlives · 07/01/2013 11:27

And I've just looked up Astrid in my baby name book and it says it means "divinely beautiful" - perfect! Smile Thanks

NewYearNewBoo · 07/01/2013 11:54

Oh my goodness Tock what a lovely birth you had, well done you and DH!!! And how sweet is your ds is wanting to play trains with her Grin

whimsicalname · 07/01/2013 13:52

You are clearly a super woman tock. And I must say I'm more than a little jealous of your lovely hb. You can't beat going to bed in your own bed can you! And lovely name too. I think we might have reached consensus here with ours!

clickingtock · 07/01/2013 15:30

Little and Olives, so sorry about pelvis pain. I hope a paracetamol here and there offers a little relief.

Olives - hadn't seen that translation of Astrid, how lovely. Thanks. Thanks

Agree with everyone that you need to be selective about who you can discuss names with. My mum hesitated over Astrid last night but seemed to have warmed by end of call. Would have been harder when still pg.

Stacks - you sound happy and busy. How is DH getting on with fatherhood?

Boo, toddlyboo will be just the same I'm sure.

Whims, brooking v hard for you. Still 10 days tho I'm guessing you'd prefer a bit sooner?

Brew For all; we're getting thru the red bush here. Xxxx

Congratulations and a wonderful story, tock. Really impressed it was so quick. I've been trying to decide about a birth pool at home for this one. I used it a bit with DS but he was born in our bed in the end and I didn't think it helped that much, but maybe it would help this time. I don't know! Tell me what to do!

I also love Redbush tea. It is our tea of choice whether or not I am pregnant.

We're not telling anyone names until the baby has arrived and we know what it is! I agree that people can tell you they don't like names until the baby arrives and then the worst they can do is, "Hmm, that's unusual..." Wink

I am glad that tockDS has taken to his little sister! My DS is lovely and gentle around babies and loves holding their hands and cuddling them, but, of course, they always go home and I never hold them for too long.

Anyway, I am finding the whole pregnancy thing quite hard at the moment. I am vomiting again and have terrible sciatica. I can feel it right the way down my left leg and DS knows that I am exhausted and is playing up severely! Less than 2 months to go though. Sorry to be a grump!

GenericDietCola · 07/01/2013 19:54

tock, that sounds like a lovely birth story. so pleased for you.

bartlet, sorry you are suffering so much and hope these last few weeks pass quickly for you.

whim, you're next!

still going well with ds. he is adorable and I'm in that head over heels in love stage - aw!

NewYearNewBoo · 07/01/2013 21:00

Hahaha, got to love my DH, conversation went as follows -
me: have you told work about your paternity leave yet, I think it needs doing by next week Smile
him: not yet but we have ages I checked and I have to do it by 15 weeks before due date.
me: you do realise I'm 24 weeks this Friday Hmm
him: of course, stop worrying, got ages yet Shock Hmm Confused

his face was a picture when he worked it out Grin Grin Grin

I am really sorry to hear about the pelvic/hip pains, I have no experience or advice just Brew Thanks Brew Thanks Brew Thanks

mwahmwah · 07/01/2013 21:14

hello can I pop on? my little girl was born Saturday at 5.35pm after induction in the morning. gorgeous, 8lb 7oz, as yet nameless! dc number 3 :)

Withalittlesparkle · 07/01/2013 22:19

Super quick post from team sparkle, had 16 week midwife check up today, All well with twinkle, turns out its a super wriggling baby as midwife spent ages 'chasing' it around with the Doppler, hearing the heart beat for seconds and then it'd vanish cus baby would move, this went on for 5 odd minutes before midwife declared defeat!!!

I've been told Im not immune to rubella, despite having my MMR which means injections after baby arrives, but that's no biggy just have to avoid people with Rubella!!

Oh and I'm Blood group A negative so I have to have an anti D injection at 28 weeks, although I'm not entirely sure what that means, but the midwife said it wasn't anything to worry about so I'm just having to put my faith in her!!!

Promise a less selfish post tomorrow

NewYearNewBoo · 07/01/2013 22:27

Congratulations Mwah always lovely to hear about new babies, enjoy your snuggles :)

Sparks I was still a bit like that until the 20 week scan, now booby is kicking up a daily storm and kicking things off my belly I have definitely accepted it, even bought it some baby grows in the sales :):) really pleased you had a good appointment, but boo to the extra injections.

whimsicalname · 08/01/2013 01:50

Congrats indeed mwah. And good to have a wriggler Sparks. How are you feeling bartlet? Sorry to hear you're vomming again. Is it tiredness related? I had one very sicky pregnancy, which was always exacerbated by tiredness. Hope it abates soon, nevertheless.

So I have a bit of a what would you do: As I'm sure you've all marked in your diaries / written on your fridges / synced into your google planner, I'm due this weekend, and have an induction scheduled for next Tues if there's no baby by then. However, my Ob seems to think she should check my cervix every time I go and see her. So far I've held out, but I have an appt on Thursday and was wondering if you all thought it might hasten things along? I'm not keen for any unnecessary rummaging, but then I would quite like to have a baby at some point. I have another friend due this week, and we're both convinced we're going to be pregnant forever in defiance of medical precedence.

So, go for the rummage or hold out?

TheLittleFriend · 08/01/2013 07:42

Ah Olives, Bartlet, sounds like my triple whammy buddies are in just as much pain as me. Great to be able to say we've not got much longer to wait now though. We're next after Whims!

Hmm, would they do a sweep for you whilst they were examining you Whims? At least that might be more productive, despite being more invasive. Like you, I'd be keen to get things moving before Tuesday.

Great news about the wriggly baby Sparks. Not long before you can see it again at your 20wk scan Smile

Congrats on your lovely snugly baby Mwah, we always love to here about them Smile

Olives, Bartlet, what are your childcare plans for the big day? (Hopefully your ds will be asleep upstairs Bartlet I guess Wink)
My parents will be having my dd, but I'm a wuss for leaving her, and never have overnight before Blush

TheLittleFriend · 08/01/2013 11:33

Just re-read my last post, sounds like I'm trying to get in to a 'who is in more pain' competition. I'm not, it came out wrong! Blush

BartletForTeamGB · 08/01/2013 12:04

I didn't think you were going for competitive pain, little! Smile

As for childcare plans, I am hoping that DS can just sleep through it all upstairs and then we can just wake him up in the morning to meet his new brother/sister. If I go into labour during the day or if I need to be induced or admitted as an emergency or anything like that, then we have friends who will take DS. She is Dutch and all 6 of their children were born at home so they are very supportive.

whims, I'd go for the sweep. It might not do anything, but I did go into labour after my second sweep. Who knows if it was just coincidence but it made me feel like I was doing something to get things going!

sparks, lovely news re: the baby's heartbeat!

Bartlett, I couldn't do HB without water, but you are obviously made of stronger stuff. Our pool was £50 2nd hand but unused. Took about an hour or two to fill. You need a good, strong floor! Was q tough on DP as he had a lot to sort after MWs left.

Whims, worth a look down below? They shouldn't really do induction unless cervix is ripening a bit etc as it isn't really worth it. Hopefully mini whims will comply with your due date tho. Astrid came bang on 40wks after a carefully timed shagging weekend but +3 on scan edd. I also had q intensive acupuncture... Worth a try if you're apprehensive about induction? Brooking.

Sorry about back pains and sickness for some of you. V tough. I can report that most symptoms go quickly once you've popped, tho replaced by some other alarming indignancies and general bashed-upness... Blush

I am over the moon but in cracked nipple hell despite lashings of lasinoh. Was the same with DS. Any tips

Should I be on the grad fred now?

GreenOlives · 08/01/2013 18:48

No nipple tips tock but lots of empathy! I remember the pain of that oh so well from last time! I shall be watching intently for tips to avoid a repeat performance this time Grin Officially you are a post-grad (but please don't leave us completely!)
whims I think I would go for the rummage option - you never know it may start things off!
little Definitely didn't sound like competitive pain to me either Grin Us triplets haven't had the easiest of pregnancies but at least we've done it together Wink DS will be looked after by my mum while im in labour. She lives in the same village as us so depending on time of day she may come here to look after him or he will go to hers. He has only stayed away overnight on a handful of occasions in his 4.7 years (only at my mum's) but im sure he'll be ok. He's used to me not being there because of night shifts and previous hospital stays so im not worried about that. Could your DD do a trial sleepover to get used to it before the real thing?

whimsicalname · 08/01/2013 19:35

Ooh tock I feel your pain. The ends of my nipples have peeled off each time, although then they're fine. Paracetamol until they toughen up? And plenty of sympathy, obv.

You're welcome to stay here as long as you like, although I imagine the post grads will be equally happy to have you!

I'm beginning to wonder if heart burn can be fatal. I'm in agony! There just isn't enough gaviscon in the world. (and it costs $16 for a little bottle)

BartletForTeamGB · 08/01/2013 22:58

whims, omeprazole is a WONDER drug! I have prescribed it so many times to other people but I never believed it would work as well as it does. I haven't touched Gaviscon since starting it. Worth asking your doctor about it?

whimsicalname · 09/01/2013 00:25

Thanks bartlet. Gaviscon usually sees me right, but I've had a terrible time of it,today after eating Christmas cake at 4am. Hopefully tomorrow won't be so bad, and then it's only one hand's fingers to having a baby!
