cookies hope your sweep works tomorrow 12/12/12 would be a fab birthday! Smile

emily I know how you feel about having a drink, I've been too worried to have one even though im sure it would be fine (mum always telling me how she was advised to drink Guinness when pregnant with me!) but am feeling very left out of having a festive tipple - normally love a snowball or glass of port Wine- even the Disaronno adverts are talking to me but guess I'll have to save them for afterwards as a celebration.....

kate2boysandabump · 11/12/2012 18:50

trying to type one handed, sorry for errors!

Had a really good nights sleep on Sunday, so woke up Monday feeling quite well. I cuddled up to DH and then felt a strong pain, so hopped out of bed and felt a trickle. I started having pains, but they weren't too bad, so I sent the children to school and DH off to work. I rang triage and they said to come in, so I called DH and got him to come home. By this time I'd managed to get round to downloading a contraction app and the pains were every 90 seconds to 3 minutes and lasting for 30 to 45 seconds, but I still didn't feel like I was in labour. So I called my mom and was chatting away between the pains and getting on with my morning, I emptied the dishwasher and washing machine, cleaned the kitchen, did some handwashing, the usual.

Dh got home and we went off to the hospital, I thought they would check me and send me home, so we left all the bags in the car, but when I got to triage I had 2 huge pains and when they examined me, the midwife said, 'You're fully dilated, don't push, I'm not ready!!'

So I got wheeled through to delivery suite by people running with my bed through the corridor, with DH running behind. I got to the room and started pushing and my new baby boy was born an hour later. I still can't believe I woke up and I was fine and by lunch time......I'd had a baby!!!!!

He was born in his waters, which is supposed to be lucky and quite unusual, it made delivering the head a lot more comfortable and I had one tiny tear and no stitches. So I came home that evening and we've been settling in at home today.

Good luck to all those still waiting, the last bit of discomfort is totally worth it. My little man is just gorgeous, we are all besotted with him Smile

ISpyDingDongMerrilyOnHigh · 11/12/2012 18:55

Fantastic birth story Pru. My waters came out on the sack with DS1 - it freaked the student mw who delivered him out a bit as she hadn't seen it happen like that before. The mw who was supervisng broke them, and proceeded to slip as they went everywhere.

Ellie - sounds like the meeting went really well and seems encouraging for hb.

Pmgk - glad you've got your date and will be home for xmas!

Cookies - good luck for tomorrow. 12/12/12 baby would be fab.

Oh and welcome to the newbies.

spicegirl13 · 11/12/2012 18:56

Wow Kate, another quick birth ending with a boy! How lovely!

Am I going to be the only one with a long, agonising birth ending with a girl just to be different?! Wink

annelid · 11/12/2012 18:58

Seems like the 20th is a popular date!! including me, I think 4 of us are due next Thursday.

MrsMiller81 · 11/12/2012 19:01

Congrats kate - sounds like a lovely fast delivery! I'd like to order one of those please Grin

I know what you mean spice - I'm having a girl and if she's anything like her mum she's sure to be late and take her time!

cherrypiew3 · 11/12/2012 19:33

Elllie I have had 3 sweeps so far this pregnancy 1 today and I have found them ok have gone alone and drove to all of them. Hope it goes well and works for you.

Kate and Pru Lovely birth stories.

Welcome Spice

40+1 today had mw appointment and sweep but don't really hold much hope that it will work but maybe 3rd time lucky. Back to the hospital on Thursday for another scan really don't want to be going for that just want to have my baby.

spicegirl13 · 11/12/2012 20:04

cherry how did you get 3 sweeps at 40+1? They won't give me my first until I'm 40 Hmm

ellliebelle · 11/12/2012 20:10

Thanks for the birth storiespru and katead huge congratulations again :)

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 11/12/2012 20:41

Yes thanks for the birth stories, it's very encouraging to read how many people have successfully managed to give birth! (I'm not sure what else I'm expecting to happen when this one finally decides to put in an appearance, but it still makes it seem more manageable!)
The 20th is significant for me too because it'll probably be my induction date if the baby hasn't arrived by then.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 11/12/2012 20:49

DH reminded me earlier that when Ethan came out (after 10 minutes of pushing) I said 'oh my god it's a baby'

Blush I'm not sure what exactly I had been expecting!

cherrypiew3 · 11/12/2012 20:58

Spice I measure small baby is measuring a bit small and movements keep reducing so they have done sweeps since 38 weeks they don't seem to be doing much though and now I have sore bits. Xmas Blush

brooke89 · 11/12/2012 21:08

Lovely birth stories pru and kate

JoJoB77 · 11/12/2012 21:38

Hi ladies

Well i'm not due for another 6 days but am feeling very achy and pre-menstrual Confused. My DH is in london overnight so i'm a bit anxious its going to kick off while hes so far away.

I'm also a bit scared that i'm going to have to push this baby out very soon - i seem to have forgotten how it felt last time.

Congrats to all the new babies, they really are coming thick and fast now. Think im going to go to bed to try & replenish my sleep stores Grin

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 11/12/2012 21:43

I'm still here too ladies, welcome newcomers!

Today I feel the size of a house, everything aches and I'm knackered. Tomorrow is what should hopefully be my last diabetes clinic, they should tell me my induction date unless they've changed their minds

It all seems a bit scary and real now Xmas Confused plug is coming away in clumps but that's my only sign so far

AlisonDB · 11/12/2012 23:41

Hi all,
Congratulations to everyone who has just popped! hope your little ones are doing well!!!
i'm still trying to catch up with all the updates but i'm dont know if i'll ever catch up.
life since December 3rd has been an endless succession of Drs appointments, specialists and examinations,

Today is my 2nd night home without Thomas and I'm finding it very upsetting and overwhelming that he's not next to me,

He is doing much better today he came off his oxygen and also came off his IV as he no longer needs the glucose, he is feeding much better now and is taking larger bottles each day, but is still having some of his overnight feeds done by tune so he can sleep and not be disturbed, o we are made up with him, but it all feels a bit surreal!

His platelet levels are still a little low, but they hope that they have now stabilized and he won't need further transfusions,
He is due a scan on Thursday to see if they can tell us more about the hole in his heart,

But he has already put on 100grms in the 1st week and is getting stronger by the day,
Hopefully we have him home soon, as its horrid leaving him behind in the hospital, I just want him next to me so I can really begin to enjoy him!

AlisonDB · 11/12/2012 23:42

Meant he's having his night feeds via tube! Not tune!

Cookiesandcoffee · 11/12/2012 23:51

Oh alison i can't even imagine how upsetting it must be to be home but not have your new bundle with you. Sounds like he is doing well though so FX it won't be too much longer.

Getting some more pains this evening but definitely my body's way of being extra cruel- keeping me up the night before my due date with irregular stupid fake labour pains (that I will eventually get rid of shortly with either a poo or fart

Hormonalhell · 12/12/2012 00:59

I too cannot imagine what u going thru alison but at least u know he's safe and improving well Smile

I too cookies am up with probable 'false' pains, coming every ten mins but although uncomfy not agony. Also leaking a bit but not much at present.

Be pretty amazing if we both gave birth today tho - 12.12.12!!!!GrinGrin

Cookiesandcoffee · 12/12/2012 01:25

Oh hormonal it does help to know I'm not alone. Was getting to 5 mins but now they seem be disappearing and becoming Shorter. That'll teach me for waking up DP. I'm so torn between staying up and trying to get some sleep. You know when the logical thing would be to go to sleep but then you don't want to just incase?!
I was going to phone my mum but think ill give up now and try to rest.

Do update with any changesGrin

Hormonalhell · 12/12/2012 02:04

Ah yes but we gonna need our energy for the day ahead if it does amount to something!! My mum is my labour partner so I'll hopefully call her but although I'm still getting painful tightenings they not regular now Angry so am off to bed to listen to DP snore!!

Hope things get going for u, big FX!!!

Cookiesandcoffee · 12/12/2012 02:15

Had a few more really painful tightenings just as I was giving up. Lasted bit less than a min i think. But LO is going crazy and that in itself is painful so has messed up a lot of my timings etc.

Massively crossing my fingers for you this isn't tease-labour. Just as I was drifting off it was like something happened again AngryAngry

brooke89 · 12/12/2012 06:18

Who's going to have the 12/12/12 birthday?

alison glad to hear he is doing well hope you get him back for a snuggle soon

yuletopian99 · 12/12/2012 07:05

Ooh cookies and hormonal, sounds like you might both be in the running for the 12/12/12 date!

Thought i had everything major sorted and he could arrive and now have more things to sort before Sunday, so hoping for a few more days grace all of a sudden! Also dh is in Swansea for meetings today (we live in Manc,) so really hoping nothing kicks off till this evening or I'll be on my own!

JoJoB77 · 12/12/2012 07:10

Well nothing happened for me overnight!

I'm feeling achy still though and have a feeling its going to happen soon, but then again the latent stage could go on for days yet so its anyones guess Grin

Hope you're both ok this morning cookies and hormonal
