Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members Grin

We've just moved over from the Shagged Out Viroids Volume 5 thread, where we finally found out that a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!
The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread Confused Grin

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 12th thread Thanks

frogchops · 11/02/2013 12:55

Do you know what you're having something??

MrsBri · 11/02/2013 12:57

Ooh...exciting, Something!!!

somethingwittynot · 11/02/2013 12:59

yellow bump this time!

frogchops · 11/02/2013 13:00

Eeeek, I'm having a celebratory biscuit!

tiredteddy · 11/02/2013 13:14

Oh wow another baby's is coming to the thread! Good luck something keep us posted Grin

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 11/02/2013 13:25

It's been so long since I posted that the thread has disappeared from my 'threads I'm on'. Our internet is not working at home and Virgin can't come out until tomorrow. Haven't had chance to catch up but have got my seminar to do some small group work so thought I'd be really naughty take advantage of the break and say a quick hello. Hope all is good with everyone, I'll try and catch up with the thread later.

Dysgu · 11/02/2013 13:51

Something so glad that it is finally happening and that things will now step up a gear. It won't be long until you will be holding a new baby... Smile

Re our buggy - It is a SC Freeway and is really good for what I want it. I am planning on buying a travel system when I find what I want. It will live in the car so that can use the car seat to move the baby onto the chassis. Only thing is I don't know what I want for that!

The SC has a HUGE pram and is really comfy with the additional liner. I want it just for doing the school run each day!! I am not even sure I like it much in the pushchair mode but, it is sitting here beside me in the kitchen and is growing on me!

For the car I want a system with a click-in car base. We had a fabulous Graco with DD1 but not sure I want one now. In 2DC we have so far had the Graco, a Quinny, the Phil n Ted, 2 McLarens (single and double) and a Mama and papa thing.

I actually babywear most of the time and spend more money on slings than buggies. Just need something(s) as an option!

WingDefence · 11/02/2013 14:01

That's a lot of buggies Dysgu! Grin

My friend runs a website (she blames me for giving her the idea two years ago...!) called www.bestbuggy.co.uk and although I am obviously biased, it's a great website with lots of info and reviews. It might help you / any of you who are thinking about which buggy to buy?

Nice one wing....will be having a little look at that link!!

Kittenkatzen · 11/02/2013 15:03

ooh something! Yay another baby on the fred! :o

Rockchick1984 · 11/02/2013 17:20

Dysgu the linear freeway is loads nicer than the 3d, I just try to warn people not to make the same mistake as I did with the 3d Grin

I babywear too, debating how long into this pregnancy I can still wear DS, he's a big chunky 2 stone so think I'll have to limit myself at some point.

Good luck Something!!!!

tiredteddy · 11/02/2013 18:08

wing that website is fab! I went on it loads when I was choosing ferns pushchair!

Dysgu · 11/02/2013 18:47

An interesting site Wing I have been nosing around it on and off for a while now! Still not decided what I DO do want but I know what I don't!!

Dysgu · 11/02/2013 18:48

and the Freeway is rather heavy - when you have a 4 year old or a 6 year old in it Grin

Both DDs have been playing in it and have been pushing each other around the house! Of course, as it is heavy when you have hulking HUGE children in it, they needed me to help!

It fits perfectly into a 'little' cubby hole in our dining room...

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 11/02/2013 20:25

Gosh, such a lot to catch up on...

Wing so sorry to hear about your uncle but glad you've got some arrangements for next week (I'll pray for you that it all goes as well as it can, emotionally and logistically).

I LOVE OBEM and when I was TTC I was the opposite and obsessed over everythign baby related, so I watched all the other series on catch-up Blush. I also love Call The Midwife - infact going to watch that tonight in the bath Grin

Practising (welcome back btw) and Dysgu I must be within days of you both too. I'm 'due' on 27/04 but I was also induced at 40+14 with DS so don't hold out much hope of having my baby in April but it would be nice!

I think I'm one of those weird people who is actually looking forward to giving birth ... I have been doing lots of reading - natal hypnotherapy, hypnobirthing, Ina May's Guide to Childbirth etc and I am just absolutely convinced that my body knows how to do this if I only get my mind out of the way. There was nothing particularly wrong with my ELCS but am definitely hoping to avoid another one. Glad you've finally got someone coming to speak to you about HB Wing. I am just reading a book by Nicky Wesson called Home Birth and I'm finding it really interesting. I have got an appointment with a senior MW on 22nd Feb to discuss everything further.

Congrats Blondies (I also remember you as livismum) I'm really pleased you've got your BFP.

I am also a babywearer and it's one of the things I am most excited about! I must sound like an absolute hippy with my natural homebirth, babywearing, extended breastfeeding tendencies - I can assure you all I am perfectly normal in RL Grin. We have got a pushchair aswell so we have the option and I've got the Mamas and Papas Mylo. It's a factory 'refurb' and is immaculate but about 1/6 price of the store so was very very pleased as we couldn't justify spending over £600 on a pushchair Shock

Loved your picture of you and baby Fern on FB Tired, she looks absolutely adorable and I'm glad she's just slipped easily into your family. It's what I'm hoping for with DC3.

Something it sounds like things are absolutely moving now. My friend was losing her plug and having contractions for a couple of weeks before her ELCS date and they refused to bring the date forward until she was 4cm dilated (which she never got to). At least now you know you will absolutely get to meet your baby soon and won't be in limbo until the 25th. Keep us posted!

I've had a hectic day it feels. Teaching all day then dashed home to collect the kids from nursery/school, alongside two of my friends children. Quick change and toast at home before carting them all off for swimming lessons. Luckily my friend met me there so I wasn't left with 4 all night! DS had his swimming lesson, followed by DD and then I joined them in the pool for 45 mins. Dashed home for a very late dinner and super speedy bedtime. DD is absolutely shattered but should hopefully sleep well. Got to pop to Tesco before it closes as all the toast and sandwiches devoured by aforementioned 4 children has left us without bread and we need it for sandwiches in the morning. Might pick up a little treat for myself too!

Hope you all have lovely evenings (and Something I hope you're having your baby right now and can post some scrummy newborn pictures soon Grin)

ChildOfThe1980s · 11/02/2013 21:11

Hope you're doing well something

Good news about the HB Wing

I haven't spoken to my MW about my fears; I guess I should. I don't feel as worried about it now, but I guess I'm a bit of a wuss generally when it comes to pain. I don't want an epidural, but no doubt I'll be screaming for one after 10 minutes.

Congrats and welcome Blondies :D Nice to see you again.

Practisingparent · 11/02/2013 23:00

MrsBri (thats the beginning of my RL name) I am in the uk, but 6 is not a normal morning time for me! luckily dh let me lie in this morning. I guess we are late risers in comparison to most.

Guinea Hmmm, i think it will be more of a race between us than with Dysgu, i am trying to mentally prepare for a May birth! I would just like labour to be spontaneous this time, so I can see if its any more manageable than my induced labour last time.

Good Luck Something You may even have your little one by now!

hard to believe I still have at least 10 weeks to go, belly is so in the way!

MrsBri · 12/02/2013 07:11

Yes, fingers crossed Something's baby is now here :-)

And I'm jealous of your usual wake up time, Practising! I hate mine :-/

Only 56.5 working days til I finish work though, thank god.

WingDefence · 12/02/2013 08:09

Morning all! something is also quiet on Facebook so fingers crossed something is happening there and it's all going well for her and the baby...

MW visiting in an hour and a half! Might do a bit of tidying! :)

OP posts:
ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/02/2013 08:47

Ooo how exciting Wing (the MW visit, not the tidying!)

I know what you mean about the belly being in the way Practising. A few people have said 'you look ready to pop/drop/burst etc, can't be long now' and they look so shocked when I tell them still at least 10 weeks Grin . Still managing to do most things but sitting on the floor to play with the kids is increasingly difficult and I'm going shopping today for some shoes. I'm sick of wearing my snow boots but its either those, flip flops or laces and laces just aren't going to happen!

DH took the kids to the childminders this morning so I could have a lie in be in for the Virgin man. He banged on the door at 8.30 but had it sorted by 8.40. Have crawled back into bed but really feel like I should get up. Hmm decisions decisions...

Let us know what the MW says Wing.

Dysgu · 12/02/2013 10:33

More fingers crossed here for something and somethingslittlesomething hope everything is going really (but quietly happy that it is not me about to have 2DC under 13 months as it all feels like it is going to be a lot of hard work even with my 2 older DC). of course, something has always had a lot of energy Grin

I am working from home again today - for the third day in a row - so will be getting on with my school reports soon. The tedium...

And my school run took ages this morning, about 90 minutes, as I walked into town to go to the post office and then to make a hair appointment for half term next week. So that is my list of achievements today Smile although I am pretty sure I saw a family of snails over taking me on the way back up the hill.

And my spotting continues but nothing seems to be causing it but is hard to tell if it is the plug (TMI - these extra hormones cause extra discharge which is now a bit bloody but hard to tell if just that or the cervical mucus).

We are on the mainland for the weekend so I am hoping nothing is going to happen. DD1 has her first dance competition and most people are driving up on the Saturday morning but we are going on Friday evening so I don't have to rush or get up at crazy o'clock on Saturday. Then we are staying over an extra night in Southampton (which is just over the water from us) but then we can go round the shops and will have the car to fill up with anything we buy....

tiredteddy · 12/02/2013 10:57

guinea a lie-in and shoe shopping really sounds like my kind of day Grin

dysgu yuck to school reports, I don't miss those at all. The dance competition sounds really exciting for your dd. let us know how she gets on.

I'm quietly stalking mumsnet and FB for news of something hoping she and baby are both well and things are progressing.

WingDefence · 12/02/2013 11:04

I forgot that both you and waves are islanders Dysgu (although I suppose we are all islanders aren't we!). I'm being super-lazy and not walking DS the 15 mins to and from preschool in the mornings as I think it'll kill me! Last night I could barely walk when I got up from the sofa to go to bed. I didn't have any SPD-type aches with DS but I guess it's all loosened now more easily.

Guinea I bought some lovely posh slip ons from Clarks two weeks ago as sadly I couldn't be doing my converse up any longer. Best purchase ever Grin

Right, the MW visit! She was lovely. Turns out I had met her once before at 16 weeks but neither of us remembered Hmm She did say right at the start that she may come across as really negative and anti-home confinement but actually she was all for HBs but she had to go through all that could go wrong. So I steeled myself for a really depressing visit but it was absolutely fine - the negatives/risks/discussion about what could go wrong were all things I know about already so I felt fine about it.

I think what helps is that I want a HB for a couple of reasons but one of them isn't because I am a HB militant and I am going to be dogmatic about having one no matter what: if the MW says I have to be transferred at any point for good medical reasons then I really doubt I'll argue with them. I think that makes me more relaxed about it. I mean, I got to 7cms with DS on just breathing exercises and there isn't really any reason with me getting in a car just to pop the baby out in hospital when I could save myself the hassle (assuming all goes to plan) and stay at home to do it.

One thing that surprised me was that they bring the gas & air with them - it's not dropped off beforehand. I'd said to DH last night that I wouldn't want to get on the g&a too early when I'd lasted pretty long without it last time but I'll have to wait for it as long as if I'd gone into hospital anyway.

We went through the few questions I had (but she'd covered nearly all of them) including what to do at nighttime when there may be fewer MWs on call. I think she said they've only had staffing shortages once in the past few years for a HB but that that isn't my problem anyway (ABSOLUTELY!) and they've started using MWs from the Chorley centre to help cover so that was another weight off my mind. I said that DH and I work in the public sector (DH is currently working as a governance consultant in the NHS) and are completely sympathetic to staffing issues, but if I couldn't have a HB because of that I would not be very happy at all!

(Sorry this is turning into a brain dump!)

Overall, it seemed to be really positive. I think DH's main concern is that mentaly, if things go wrong in a hospital then you can always compartmentalise that away in the hospital space but if it goes wrong at home, will he/I always associate our house with something tragic at worst or upsetting at best.

And my main issue is that if anything were to go seriously wrong (I'm not just talking about having to be transferred for any reason), I would always blame myself for that, because I was at home and not in hospital. I would have to live with that for the rest of my life. But then again, something that terrible probably couldn't be foreseen could it - it's just the delay for treatment etc that would be avoidable. But then again if the risks were that high, the NHS wouldn't suggest that HBs are perfectly fine for low risk mums like me?

So much to think about - well done if you've read this far! Wink Biscuit
