I had this at that time too. Felt like pretty painful period pains. Was totally worried & in tears etc but apparently it's totally normal. DD is now 4 months.

Debbsy · 09/04/2006 18:50

Debbsy if you're worried how about phoning your community midwife for reassurance? My pains went on for a few days on and off and they told me to take paracetamol. I didn't actually take them as I wasn't keen on taking anything at all when I was pregnant but just to speak to them helped me alot.

Debbsy - i'm not sure to be honest but I've just done a search on goole for early pregnancy pain and most of the results say that twinges are normal in early pregnancy - it may be the embryo impanting itself in your uterus. I think the other thing they put it down to is ligament pain as your uterus expands. Not too sure if six weeks is early for that sort of pain though.

That would be google!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy. It really is normal to feel all sorts of weird pains as your uterus begins to stretch in preparation for nurturing your baby. Sometimes these can feel like period pain and sometimes dull aches or even the occasional sharp pain. It might feel like the start of a period with back ache or cramps. And you might even find you lose a little bit of blood at this stage too (an implantation bleed). If you're very anxious your midwife or GP might recommend that you have a scan at your hospital's EPU (Early Pregnancy Unit). If you're really stressing out you can always ring NHS direct.

Aha, crossed posts! So glad you have been reassured and once again, many congrats!
