Ratbag I'd say that sounds fine. I paid £35 for mine second hand with the stand. Will also be getting a new mattress. Mine is mamas and papas too so to buy new they are about £90!

Hope they accept your offer Smile

birdbrain17 · 31/12/2012 13:40

ratbag I know what you mean is 6 months too early to buy everything, I only started buying things now because of the sales but now that I've started I want to get everything!!!!

after much indecisiveness about the buggy and changing my mind 100 times about what features I really cared about we're gonna go get the mamas and papas sola and carrycot, it's a bit more then the zoom which was what I originally looked at but I have a £25 off voucher from boots parenting club so we'll buy it from there. Any comments on it before we do the actual buying? I really don't want to change my mind again but just incase anyone has any views on it.....

26+1 eeek it's getting close!!!!!!

Missmuffet28 · 31/12/2012 14:04

This is a bit off topic and random but could you April ladies please cast a vote for UMBRELLA it's a feature film my local community is doing and if you care to read the story line it's the sort of thing you could well read on mn so thought it was quite apt to post on here!
I know a few people would be appreciative! :)

cheers for the tip Aufanie about stairs & Silver Cross, they were one I was considering but I think am settled now on Maclaren Techno XT. My mums buying it as present for us, but will take OH to see it & check he is comfortable with it too.

I don't think will actually get the buggy yet though, feel better now its chosen but still need to move house & stuff so feels silly to add extra bulky items.

Missmuffet28 · 31/12/2012 14:18

It is isn't it! About half a percent last time I looked! Thank you also! X

Fluffeh we have a 2001 Golf and a Old VW camper so just bought the maxi cosi easy base 2 and a red maxi cosi pebble car sea (which has a head support to help prevent flat heads too). The easy base fits in place with a 3 point seat belt , felt really secure. Them the seat clicks in. got MCare to pricematch amazon, so both for under 200 squid! No need for isofix if you don't have them.

Thanks for lists kadies, as on first baby too...We've got cot and nursing chair off eBay, flr too many funky clothes from eBay, a few different nappy and wipes to try and borrowed bottles, steriliser, breastpump, playmat, bath prop and bouncer chair from SIL.

We are really lucky and SIL is lending us a bugaboo with pram top for first 9-12 months, then my folks have offered to buy us a baby jogger city mini gt (I get exhausted just saying that!) for after that as it has a one hand gold, is quite light and portable, has a big hood, goes flat for snoozing and is supposed to be a mixed terrain compromise (suspension and licking in front wheel, wheels mid sized). It's s minefield when you start looking tho! And I have a 6'5" DH to take into account (I'm 5'5")...

I hope you all have a dab night tonight and that some of us make it to midnight. I've had to work today, am on train home and have friends arriving shortly...not cooking from scratch tonight...prepared pasta all the way!

Happy new year to you all! Chat in 2013 when our babies will be on the way!!!!

Xx

growyourown77 · 31/12/2012 16:04

Sorry for typos! That's fold...not a bloody gold handle!!! Smile and locking wheels....

growyourown77 · 31/12/2012 16:06

Oh, and 23+6...the magic 24 weeks on New Year's Day!

JaquelineHyOnChristmasSpirit · 31/12/2012 16:54

Afternoon ladies we popped into Mothercare today so that DH could test out the Maclaren and he really likes it with the carry cot so that is the pushchair sorted, will order it from John Lewis next week I think.

It's a bit odd for us because I am buying everything with DH in mind as I will be off back to work about 1-2 weeks after giving birth and DH will be the baby's and the 3 dc's main carer again until I break up at the end of June. It makes me feel really Sad but needs must I suppose.

Quick advice needed from you all as well if possible. All over Christmas week the baby was seriously active several times every day particularly at night it was lovely. However, over the last 2-3 days the kicks/movement have reduced significantly and aren't as lengthy or strong as they were.

There is movement a couple of times a day so I'm not panicing just yet but I am worried at the sudden change. Has anyone else had this?

OComeAllYeFaithBaby · 31/12/2012 17:15

I had similar yesterday jacq, baby went very quiet most of the day, proper freaked me out! Then I got in the bath after work and it (well she!) was kicking so hard I could see it from the outside. I think it's worth knowing what's 'normal' but also to realise there will be variations.

I've seen the GP who reckons my symptoms are viral so basically it's keep taking painkillers, inhale steam and wait to feel better! Confused Fortunately my boss was lovely when I rang her!

Missmuffet28 · 31/12/2012 17:17

jaqueline notshort was reporting something similar down thread with the movement thing.

Argh my mum is a nightmare! She keeps buying stuff! We are obviously incredibly grateful and I don't want to sound like a spoilt brat! But she really needn't spend like a crazy woman I had a borrowed cot sorted, and was just gonna use my 5ft side board as a changing station and storage unit but she just text and said she's ordered a nursery set and mattress bless her! She also let slip that she buys something every time she goes to the supermarket or to town doh!

www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Search/searchTerms/3774319.htm

With regards to mothercare, I find ours quite helpful I always make sure I research before I go in so I can't be spun a load of sales stuff and I ALWAYS price match the stuff to make sure I get it at the lowest possible price, I just find that you can look at/play with/touch what your buying first and have an actual store to take stuff back to if god forbid something was wrong with it we don't have any big stores like John Lewis debhanams babies r us locally so they aren't always an option, but I have always found the staff in mothercare really pleasant 

usernamegoeshere · 31/12/2012 17:28

JH I noticed mine being extra active over christmas I suspect it had to do with all the sugary food I was eating plus cold fizzy drinks rather than tap water.

Also, OH will be doing quite a bit of our childcare too. I can earn more than him so the plan is really for me to work maybe 25 hours a week & him to do 12/16 or so to top up, or maybe even for him to do a college course. I don't mind working & rather have OH look after baby than him being miserable in an underpaid job he hates.

My mum is getting the same Missmuffet she is really really excited.

Ollibobs · 31/12/2012 17:55

Sounds like I have the same thing as you Faithful. Been to the GP and she gave me a script for antibiotics, but said I shouldn't take them unless I still feel rough in a few days (not sure why) and just get lots of rest for the rest of the week.

So I will be ringing in the New Year from the sofa... If I'm still awake that is! Hope you feel better too...

OComeAllYeFaithBaby · 31/12/2012 17:58

Lucozade is awesome stuff! Yes quiet New Year for us too. Hope you feel better soon too Olli!

edinfirst · 31/12/2012 18:01

birdbrain I ordered the Sola this week, I really like it! Two wee tips, the first is to note how many bits you have to buy separately e.g. footmuff-I'm sure lots of travel systems are the same, but the list of things to order just kept getting longer. The other, better, news, is that if you're not fussy about colour the green and the plum have £100 off just now in m&p sale-could save you a bit and let you spend yourvoucher on something else.

Happy Hogmanay to you all from Scotland. I'm hoping to be able to stay awake til The Bells (midnight) and will have a wee toast to us all and our super exciting 2013 x

Teapig · 31/12/2012 20:55

Ooh name talk. I love the name Blake, it's not chatty at all. I also love Aurelia, that was on our list. After much debate DH and I have whittled it down to two choices but so far are completely unable to choose between them. We're thinking if either Isla Ottilie or Fionnuala Olive (pronounced Fin-oo-la).

We cleared out the spare room that will become the nursery the other day and now I can't wait to get painting, get the furniture and everything we need. We have our pram and a few clothes but not much else, time to start shopping.

Hope everyone has a fab night and some make it up to see the New Year in. DH and I are having a quiet one having had a lovely country walk today. I'm treating myself to a small glass of red tonight, my first alcohol since finding out I was pg, woohoo!

Hope you feel better soon olli.
JH the amount of movement I've felt has been erratic so I think it must be normal as there are a few of us finding the same thing.

Teapig · 31/12/2012 20:59

essex, meant to say that Blake is a lovely name and not chavvy but stupid phone corrected it to chatty. I'm sure he'll be very chatty and not chavvy whatever you name him Smile

birdbrain17 · 31/12/2012 21:01

edin thanks for your advice. We went ahead and ordered it this afternoon I'm so excited. The voucher I had was with boots £25 off pushchairs so we paid £199 for the purple (my fave colour) pushchair from boots and then for the carry cot we actually bought the one for the m&p urbo as it was £99 in the sale, so cheaper then the sola carrycot and it fits the sola no problem, it was my DH idea to see if we could get a cheaper carrycot then the sola one so we managed to save some money there. We're not getting the footmuff or car seat adaptors at the moment though, going to wait and see if we need them....

looking forward to 2013, especially april Grin

lili86 · 31/12/2012 21:21

Happy New Year to all when it comes and happy Hogmanay to Edin! Very exciting year ahead for us all! Just wish this shitty Highland weather would disapear(wind and rain!), but doubt it!
Health, Love and Happiness to you allxxxx

LikeCandy · 31/12/2012 22:34

Hi all!
So many of us with similar experiences. I was going to ask of anyone else had a lazy baby at the moment and so many have posted that already! The last couple of days baby girl Candy has been very quiet, and I was just getting flutters even if I wobbled her around. She was very kicky at work today, but then quiet again this evening. (Used to be more mornings/evenings)

We now have 5 sleeveless vests, 10 short sleeves, 5 sleep suits and about 100 hand knitted cardigans! Oh and she got 5 teddies for Christmas of various family members too!
I haven't bought any big stuff but have looked, it's so confusing.
I thought I was settled on the Stokke Explorer pram, a bed side (Troll or similar) full size cot for easy breast feeding and little lamb reusable nappies - but I'm scared to get it wrong, or buy early and have 3 months to have buyers remorse!!
Eek!

So excited for 2013 - Happy New Year everyone! I know I'm early but there is about 0% chance of me making it to midnight awake!!

Happy New Year everyone, we get to meet our little ones ths year!

43 degrees yesterday, and then we had a power cut so no air con. We had to camp out at a shopping centre until some friends got home who had power! But the NYE party made up for it, we went to a 70's themed pool party - we only got out the pool at 11.45 in time for the countdown (really missed it being Big Bens peel though). And today I have a very hungover DH.....

Heartburn has got ridiculous again, think I'll have to go and have another chat to the Dr about it.
