Thought we should have a shiny new thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Clarella · 29/11/2012 10:21

Honey I was as devastated when my rat died as any of our much longer lived dogs x

cherrypiew3 · 29/11/2012 10:22

Spotty Glad to hear Felix is doing well.

Seconds Hope things are progressing well for you.

Clarella Enjoy your last few days of been child free get plenty of rest.

Well think the sweep yesterday failed I never manage to get a baby out at 40 weeks so don't really think there is much chance of me getting one out at 38 weeks.
Just spent 10 mins banging all my cupboards getting really Angry trying to find the milk jug to warm some milk in the microwave. Then realised the microwave was already on warming the milk. Oh dear Blush

Clarella · 29/11/2012 10:22

Oh no utopian - his drawing hand? :(

SpottyTeacakes · 29/11/2012 10:25

Ow ow ow to milk coming in I'd totally forgotten about the shooting pains!!

Felix is currently having a chest X-ray because his breathing is still funny...

I'm sure there will be a baby seconds by the end of the day, who will be next?

Hope everyone enjoys their outings today I might pop for lunch with dp not sure yet. It's either manky canteen food or frankie & bennys.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/11/2012 10:27

Oh no Utopian I hope he's ok

Grin at your baby brain cherry

MyDaydream · 29/11/2012 10:32

Oh utopian your poor DH. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
spotty hope the X-ray comes back clear. Last time I was in F&Bs they'd put their prices up and downsized their portions, I left very disappointed. Manky canteen food will be less disappointing since you already expect it to be crap!

SpottyTeacakes · 29/11/2012 10:35

Well I would go to nandos but weirdo dp doesn't like it Hmm

HoneyMum21 · 29/11/2012 10:40

hormonal what pram have you gone for?

spotty I couldn't believe how much milk coming in m hurt! How are you feeling in yourself? I was a mess day 3/4!

Bf in public- I really want to but am apprehensive. Everyone in the hospital saw and most had a good grope of my boobs while we were getting the hang of feeding but still scared about public.

HoneyMum21 · 29/11/2012 10:41
  • when I said everyone had a good grope I meant nurses and midwifes- not other patients
SpottyTeacakes · 29/11/2012 10:46

I'm ok thanks I'm generally not a very emotional person (Grin) and will tend to hold it in and not think about things

MyDaydream · 29/11/2012 10:52

spotty my DP is the same although only because its too expensive for just chicken. I imagine he'd say the same about chicken from the supermarket if buying it was his job, he hasn't food shopped in nearly 2 years!
hormonal I got my pram on Monday after a similar wait, it was very exciting.
honey can you do it in stages as you get braver. Start in a quiet, hidden corner of a cafe then get more and more visible as your confidence grows? This is my plan, although DP thinks I'm just going to wap my boob out and get on with it because he seems to think I get them out at any opportunity.
I just realised I'm 37 weeks today! I've put my order in for next Saturday but can't imagine he'll listen to me.

utopian99 · 29/11/2012 10:54

Yes, it's his drawing hand.. Thing is he's the the sort to not make a fuss or mention illness until it's really severe so the fact he's in A&E makes me worry it's worse than he's letting on. Might saddle up the mini and go anyway as he won't be riding home...

Are you okay spotty?

HoneyMum21 · 29/11/2012 10:56

Yeah , mydaydream that's the plan as confidence grows! But as Dash is good with a bottle of expressed milk I've been cheating and doing that when we're out as all trips out are still meticulously planned. Once we start having more casual trips um sure ill get into it.

We're hoping to go to a mum and baby group thus afternoon if Dash is feeling cooperative!

SpottyTeacakes · 29/11/2012 11:18

I'm ok thanks utopian Smile X-ray has shown lung infection which I'm taking as a good sign as it means they know where the infection is and why his breathing is still shallow. He has to have an Eco later too. Going to start with some feeds too 1ml/hour! Dr said he is improving everyday Smile

kate2boysandabump · 29/11/2012 11:22

Got home from the hospital last night, but I was so wiped out I went straight to bed and went to sleep Shock The midwife sent me up as I have very swollen hands and feet and my blood pressure was up. I had a trace in DAU and lots of bloods done and the good news is baby is all fine and I don't have pre-eclampsia Smile Lots of tightenings showed up on the toco as well, so maybe something is happening or will soon, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm still expecting to have a bay still on the inside when my due date comes and goes. The bad news is I'm black and blue from all the blood tests and attempted and abandoned blood tests. I even had to go back this morning, as they hadn't collected enough yesterday and they were even worse today, four attempts to get a capful Angry

Anyway, I'm just going to potter round tidying up today as the midwife is coming to do a blood pressure check tomorrow and the in-laws are coming for the day on Sunday. They are bringing the pram so that is very exciting. Apologies for the me, me, me post Blush

Mamapo Glad the BP is more normal.

Stacey Is there anyone who can help with the school run? Maybe one way to give you a bit of a break?

Clarella Enjoy the stair walking!!

Second Hope all is progressing nicely. Looking forward to an update Smile

Spotty Hope the x-ray goes ok. Enjoy your lunch out. Are you feeling less sore today?

I had good experiences feeding in public. I remember an old lady sitting next to me on a bench in town telling me how lovely it was to see people feeding and how she'd fed all 11 Shock of hers. She kept ds1 entertained for a time too and she must have been at least 85!! Go for it ladies Smile

EggsMichelle · 29/11/2012 11:22

Honey that made me giggle! But yay for the milk man arriving, even if it does hurt! I am looking forward to public breast feeding, however I will be using a muslin or blanket to start with to cover up until I perfect the technique of not flashing!

Utopian hope it's not too bad a break, and he can still function with it.

kate2boysandabump · 29/11/2012 11:23

x post Spotty Good that they know what the problem is.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/11/2012 11:23

Oh utopian I hope Dps hand is ok.

Spent way too long in tesco, thought I was going barmy! Lol managed to get both my prescriptions although it involved 2 chemists. Also managed to beg borrow and steal (ok beg or buy) syringes for expressing milk. Got some little ones and some 5mls.

spotty I hope Felix's X-ray comes back ok.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/11/2012 11:26

Oh lots of x post. At least they know what's going on spotty it sounds like he's a little fighter.

kate I could be tbh it's no more than uncomfortable so I am saving up my favours for when I need them! Lol it also means I get up off my arse for a bit! Lol

MaMaPo · 29/11/2012 11:27

Hooray, I'm out! Lots of checks overnight and the trace back on this morning. My husband came in and we hd a chat with the consultant who thinks that yesterday's bleeding was a small abruption so it was up to us whether to leave it, keep a close eye on BP and wait for labour to start naturally, or to avoid any risk of further abruption and start induction today. On the balance of things my husband and I have opted for 'wait and see', with 'plenty of rest' as part of that plan. So he's at work, I'm at home in bed and I'll be back at the hospital in the morning to check BP again.

So an abrupt end to my work - but actually,I don't much care.

I'm ready for some resting, some preparing, and then to meet my baby.

kate2boysandabump · 29/11/2012 11:35

Stacey I know what you mean about saving up favours!! I've had offers, but want to save them for when I really need them. Like when it's twenty past 8 and I'm not dressed and the baby's screaming to be fed and it's a school day Grin

kate2boysandabump · 29/11/2012 11:37

Mamapo That's good news. Make sure you do take it easy.

2blessed · 29/11/2012 11:37

great news about sleeping in the crib pidj and you'll be fine if you have to bf in public.

Hormonal my pram arrives on Monday, so excited. Which one did you go for?

Hormonalhell · 29/11/2012 11:59

I went for the Quinny Buzz which as part of package came with Maxi Cosi seat, cost £500 but was originally £700 but I was emailed a deal exact same pram so I marched into mothercare demanding they change my pram or I'd go elsewhere - they looked at me as if I was a boisterous child and changed it over no questions asked Blush

It's still not here tho and I want a bath...Hmm

Hormonalhell · 29/11/2012 12:05

spotty oh bless little Felix, hope he ok? Forgive me but this thread is so long and I'm not sure but did u have him early? Were you given steroids? Just wondered with it being his lungs
