Thought we should have a shiny new thread.

Clarella · 28/11/2012 21:41

They never sent the vouchers! I've complained twice but they said takes a month!

Secondsop · 28/11/2012 21:47

Hello. Am in the induction ward; the doctors have just been round and I'm getting the 6-hour gel rather than the 24-hour pessary (apparently the pessary is more for post-date inductions). Quite pleased that i wont have to wait through the pessary.

brooke89 · 28/11/2012 21:48

Ooo looking forward to baby news seconds

Hope you get a good nights rest mama and anyone else in hospital

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/11/2012 21:50

CODwidow · 28/11/2012 21:54

My ds2 was born with strep b but I've gone on to have 2 healthy babies plus my swab came back clear this time but apparently that doesn't matter anymore, I'm disappointed of course but hey ho let labour commence Grin

emilyeggs · 28/11/2012 22:08

clarella if your store has an extra offers kiosk you can print off a voucher there. You may need to unsubscribe then subscribe again but it really won't take to long (that's what I did) failing that, complain in store, tell them you're gonna complain to customer care and I bet they will give you one there and then. I work in a boots, I know how they work Wink

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/11/2012 22:14

That's rubbish. Oh well, bring on the babies as long as they're happy and healthy, that's all that matters.

I hope spotty is feeling better than earlier!

clarella thanks for advice was only gonna get cream but will get both from doc as bit broke

Also I have the boots club bag which is packed with all the baby's things Smile it's quite good to say its free

EggsMichelle · 28/11/2012 22:38

I'm using an old O'Neill bag that I used for night shifts, has loads of handy pockets, key clip and washable. Then maybe later on ill look at buying a proper bag when I know how I use the bag.

Silly irrational fear of developing a chest infection, never had one before but this cold and cough are wearing me out, and my legs have turned into tree trunks again!

Cookiesandcoffee · 28/11/2012 22:52

I now HATE my iPad for deleting my huge message!! Angry Angry it all just disappeared (I blame my sausage fingers really!)

Wishes well to all, sorry I deleted my personal messages Sad and really really hope for some healthy happy babies (and mummies!) v v soon!

MyDaydream · 28/11/2012 22:52

eggs fingers crossed for your DH. Has he just graduated or am I thinking of another poster?
Good luck seconds, hoping for some baby news tomorrow.
clarella I waited ages for my vouchers to come so I could go get my bag and the voucher wasn't active until 1/12 anyway, so even if they were here chances are you wouldn't have a bag. We're off to get mine on Saturday.
MIL just left. She spent the whole time here sniffling, blowing her nose and telling us how poorly she was. Because when you have a cold going to visit the very pregnant person is the best thing to do. I hope I'm not poorly in the morning since I'm supposed to be visiting my mum and wouldn't want to make her ill when she's recovering from surgery. If I knew she was poorly I'd have told her to stay away.

EggsMichelle · 28/11/2012 23:01

Daydream what did she expect you to do, wait on her hand and foot? A polite piss off would be in order! Yep DH just finished his nurse training today, so as long as he gets a job, I can have my full year mat leave.

Secondsop · 28/11/2012 23:29

Well I appear to have failed the first test of stoicity in the face of painful indignities by producing an inadvertent yelp of pain during the internal exam that preceded the gel insertion. I think the midwife who did it may have been more used to doing post-date inductions where the cervix would be a bit more ready than mine, as she was surprised when the doctors went straight to the gel for me and the doctor explained to her that the 24 hour pessary was more for post-date inductions. Husband has gone home for the night. I have the short straw bed-wise as I'm by the wide open door.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/11/2012 23:41

Your nurse doesn't sound much cop seconds and rubbish luck on the bed. Hopefully you can get a couple of hours sleep at least before things kick off.

Well DH came home, I woke up and now I've got restless legs. Urgh just wanna sleep!

MyDaydream · 28/11/2012 23:48

eggs that's generally what she expects when healthy too. She's a drama queen of the highest order, sadly I can't tell her to piss off because DP gets arsey if I'm rude to his family. So I just say everything in my head and text the most amusing things to my mum for us to laugh about later!
I hope your husband does well so you can have your full year off. We're still not sure what I'm doing post baby, it changes depending on how DP feels about his job st the time.

Secondsop · 29/11/2012 00:03

Turns out the baby and I felt the same way about the internal exam as there was a huge spike on his trace during it, so I'm on the monitor for a bit longer. He seems alright though, very active.

EggsMichelle · 29/11/2012 01:31

Hope you get some sleep Seconds, noisy wards are not ideal sleep conditions! I can't sleep, coughing and Shrimpy doing somersaults means I'm watching a program about plus size beauty pageants... The girl from Leicester (my home town) is doing my head in with her fake northern accent!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/11/2012 01:35

I'm watching that too eggs

Walnut8 · 29/11/2012 02:28

Good luck seconds!! Good news on the gel. I think I also failed all of those stoicity tests when I was induced, don't worry Grin. I will be checking in for updates!! I was told to go for a long walk when I had my gel but that was around 4pm in the afternoon - sure brought on a lot of pains though.

daydream urgh on your behalf. Can't stand selfish sick people who think it's okay to bring their illnesses around pregnant women (or babies for that matter).

I'm another one who got a skip hop bag and love it. have seen many people around with them too. I got this one on sale online www.skiphop.com/product/dashdiaperbag.html

clarella i hope you are feeling okay. I know all about the long wait of being overdue and nothing much happening!! Just found out that apparently lactulose may bring on labour! Off to find mine ....

Clarella · 29/11/2012 04:03

Thanks for bag tips! Might try phoning again, one boots person said I might get extra points out of it! I flipping joined in June!

I'm seeing these extra days as a chance to enjoy a stress free dh and builder free house. And maybe do some art, make cards etc. But developing a 'thing' about induction for some reason. Still, there's a good 12 days yet!

eggs hope you feel better soon, keep an eye on that chest.

myday that is v annoying! I would have definitely stayed away, how inconsiderate!

I'm sure yelping is acceptable seconds - all the best here's hoping it's quick!

Clarella · 29/11/2012 04:04

Oooo lactulose eh? Just got more in!

2blessed · 29/11/2012 04:13

Morning!

I'm up, have had grapefruit w/honey, LO is on the wriggle and I'm bored...

clarell good news on stress free dh and no builders, what a relief.

Walnut8 · 29/11/2012 04:18

Well I've just taken some (a small dose - don't want to upset anything too much Confused). I've also been a bit bunged up so even if it doesnt bring on labour hopefully will be helpful. Would also highly recommend post-natally for anyone with stitches.

Clarella you are absolutely right to get the most out of these last few childfree days/weeks. I spent the time worrying last time, which didn't help a bit, and wish that I had spent the time doing "me" stuff. Don't worry about induction - you probably won't need to be induced anyway, and even if you do, there are a lot of benefits! (one of them being that you aren't doing any travel whilst in a lot of pain!)

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 29/11/2012 04:21

Up and lurking too, been feeding hourly since 10. The good news is, R has slept in his crib by himself in between!

MaMaPo · 29/11/2012 04:52

Up too but about to try for more sleep. Had 4 hourly BP and urine checks overnight and my BP has improved wonderfully. Hopefully this means the chat with the consultant in a few hours goes along the lines of 'no need to induce'.

Fingers crossed for a smooth time, seconds! Now, back to bed for me...
