Up to you Clarella they're not fun and you might be disappointed. But on the other hand you might go into labour.....

Alison agree with lactulose it's just a bit scary otherwise! Although I found it much easier than I thought it would be last time I'm still scared this time!

What essential oil have you been using on your pad pidj? Got a painful episiotomy....

HoneyMum21 · 27/11/2012 09:27

Good luck clarella

WeeJo08 · 27/11/2012 09:31

Sorry to read about all GD sufferers, no more Biscuit talk till after birth!

TMI - Has anyone else noticed an increase in watery discharge? I've been having lots of clear discharge and this morning when I woke up it literally ran down my leg Blush How are we supposed to know if its normal discharge or waters leaking?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 09:40

I have no idea who the shoe people are Hmm

OP posts:
WeeJo08 · 27/11/2012 09:41

I'm the same Brooke, apparently it smells different?! Hmm

brooke89 · 27/11/2012 09:44

Ahh weejo I did think Id heard that before but passed on smelling that early this
Morning!

Cookiesandcoffee · 27/11/2012 09:48

utopian I'm going swimming today, 38 weeks tomorrow. I've been keeping up with AquaNatal they say it's good for positioning etc and find it a relief /relaxing to take weight off back, I don't think there are at risks at all? (Unless waters have gone?)

brooke yes i have had this on and off, sometimes watery, sometimes more normal and more of it, and large strings of mucus on some other days (lovely topic of convo - sorry!) and add to the fact I've been attempting EPO it all gets a bit gross. Dug out some old pads for the nights now!

spotty ouch are you sore? Great expressing efforts! That marble-tummy ofFelix's will be full in no time. Hope you get some 'relief' down there. I hadn't heard of putting anything on your pad last time round- wish I bloody had with all the stitches and grazing. I heard witch hazel the other day??

clarella best of luck at app. My MW said she will give me a sweep at 40 weeks and infact it will be on DD exactly so I wouldn't worry about it seeming early. Obviously if you don't want it don't do it! I found that YouTube clip a while back and have been pondering the idea recently! Had a massive dance off with DD yesterday to Girls Aloud etc all that jumping and bouncing yet nothing though. Grr. Hoping you feel much better soon. Maybe your body is holding off until you are feeling yourself a bit more?

Cookiesandcoffee · 27/11/2012 09:51

I don't know either stacey !

SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 09:55

I don't know who the shoe people are Confused

I would keep going swimming reckon the chances of your waters breaking are pretty slim.

Thanks cookies yeah quite sore I only had one because they were worried about his heart rate and were getting the ventouse ready before I was even pushing. Got him out in 20 minutes though Grin and ruined the drs Hugo Boss boxers Confused

I think the discharge is normal I suppose if it was your waters it would keep going all day?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 10:35

Haha finally worked out how to get the mould off my muslin(used as nets) curtains! Neat bleach rocks. Now I'm cleaning round the windows with bleach and a toothbrush. This is what they call nesting yeah?! Bloody knackering though!

I've got some 5ml syringes, I was gunna try expressing, I assume I should sterilise them first?

OP posts:
Clarella · 27/11/2012 10:35

I was all for sweep but still feel so rotten (still not weeing i think i was so dehydrated! Have blown up like a balloon!) plus bloody workmen back today and tomorrow i feel a bit uneasy. On the other hand im desperate to know what cervix is like!

Tbh they used to do it at 41, its changed to 40 for first time mums.

No idea about shoe people either. But that prob makes me old!

HoneyMum21 · 27/11/2012 10:37

My god. I'm 28 and feel ancient. How have you all boy heard of the shoe people?

kate2boysandabump · 27/11/2012 10:40

Spotty Congratulations!!!
Sorry you're feeling sore. As well as the witch hazel, I used tea tree and lavender oil in the bath. I used to run just enough to sit in, add the drops and hop in throughout the day, I didn't even get undressed properly. Hope it eases soon.

Utopian If you want to go swimming. I had hydrotherapy yesterday with a lady who is due today.

Clarella If the sweep worked would you feel up to labour? I think you should base your decision on that. Hope you feel up to it.

I know who the Shoe People are. I'm actually a bit old for it Blush (whispers so you are too Clarella) but the artist who drew it was local to us when we were growing up, so there was lots of it about.

When are your hands and feet too big? My hands are like steaks with sausages attached and my ankle bones are a distant memory. They look horrid Sad This morning ds2 had to put my boots on for me and all my socks are too tight.

Moan over. I'm going to collect my new car today!!!!!!! I will officially be an MPV driver. I will be very dull, but to be honest I'm looking forward to it. The seats are at bum height and I'm really struggling to get in the sports seats in my Golf and then get out again Blush However, parking may be a challenge at this stage.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 10:53

Stacey are they not in sterile packets?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 10:53

Honey I'm 25 and had never heard of the shoe people!

OP posts:
StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 10:54

No these are ones dd had for medication ages ago, cba to go to the pharmacy tbh.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 10:56

Felix is off CPAP (think that's what it's called) so that's good. His sugar levels are stable bit he's on a high amount of glucose they are going to try and wean it down. Still can't hold him but got to stick our hands in etc. he looks better than dd did at this stage Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 10:58

I'm using 1ml syringes I'm not sure if you could get one at a pharmacy. But yes I would sterilise it

kate2boysandabump · 27/11/2012 11:03

That's really good news Spotty Are you still in yourself or have you been discharged?

Dated Congratulations on your new arrival (I forgot earlier Blush sorry) Hope you're feeling better and get to come home soon.

Lots of lovely little boys on this thread, where are all the girls? COD and Stacey maybe?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 11:09

I was noticing lots of boys too...

Have been to see the anaesthetist - very nice doctor plus two medical students and a student anaesthetist who were (politely) fascinated by my spine... They think if it comes to epidural I should be okay, although hopefully not needed. If it comes down to emergency c-section they'll have to see if the spinal block works on the day though, he said it's 50/50... Again hoping that won't be required anyway!

Rather like being a teaching aid - I now feel like I have been useful today. Smile

brooke89 · 27/11/2012 11:21

Good news spotty Smile

I've heard of the shoe people ( I'm 25) but never watched it as a child.... Have I missed out?!

Happy redundancy day to me Grin My redundancy pay out has finally come through... Off to buy Christmas decs and pineapple!

MyDaydream · 27/11/2012 11:26

That's great news spotty, hopefully it won't be too much longer before you get cuddles.
I don't remember the shoe people either although a couple of characters look familiar I am too young to remember. I've spent some long evenings in the past listening to people a couple of years older than me talk about amazing tv shows of their youth that I just don't remember.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 11:33

I'm off the ward and have a bed on SCBU not sure how long ill stay though I miss my bed!
