Yay felix for being off cpap :) and yay spotty

giraffe213 · 27/11/2012 11:43

I just looked at the shoe people on wikipedia, it sounds vaguely familiar but that's all. I am the right age for it I think but apparently it was shown on TV-AM though so if like me you didn't watch TV in the mornings age doesn't have so much to do with it Smile.

Clarella, hope you feel better soon regardless of whether you decide to have the sweep or not!

cherrypiew3 · 27/11/2012 11:51

Good news Spotty hope you get to have a cuddle soon.

Clarella Did you have the sweep?

Had an awful afternoon yesterday dizzy spells, sickness and a really bad head, saw gp my bp was fine and so was urine sample so not sure what was going on.
feeling lots better today. Have spent the morning bouncing on my ball but after 3dc born at 42 weeks I don't think it will do anything.

cherrypiew3 · 27/11/2012 11:53

I do remember the shoe people but had to google to jog my memory.

FriendofDorothy · 27/11/2012 11:57

So, this raspberry leaf tea business... how much and how often?

rosieposey · 27/11/2012 12:01

Hello, can i join at all? I did post a long time ago when i was first pg but whilst i have been lurking and seeing how you are all doing the thread moved a little too fast for me and i just didn't have time to post.

This is my last DC (number 5) and i had a due date of Dec 25th which was moved back to the 23rd at the 12 week dating scan. I am a type 2 diabetic though so this was moved back a further couple of week (well 12 days to the 11th) because of health and growth issues.

Spotty am here really rooting for you and little Felix - my endo and obs consultant made the decision to move the date again last week to this coming Friday because he is getting so big so i will be 36 weeks and 5 days but unfortunately i was admitted yesterday with high blood pressure and wont be going home again till after i have had him on Friday.

I have 3 girls aged 20.17 and 15 and a DS aged 3 and i really miss them - hope you dont mind me joining your thread so late but i have been following your stories and now im in hospital will get plenty of time to post, till he comes on Friday anyway.

I have been put on Methyldopa for my BP - they have upped the dose since i started it yesterday as its not coming down it was 90/179 this morning so could be worse i suppose but mixed in with my diabetes and reduced insulin requirements in the last two weeks they want to make sure DS 2 is all ok for Friday.

I have been warned that DS2 will probably have to go to NICU just like spotty's Felix - DS1 just escaped as his sugar levels crashed but he recovered them just in time - he was a c section as will DS2 be so am all prepared - Keeping everything crossed that Felix will be out of NICU asap and in his mummy and daddys arms :)

A huge congratulations to Honey, Pidg and Dated too xx

Cookiesandcoffee · 27/11/2012 12:06

Have googled The Shoe People and yes I did watch it! Just didn't know what it was called apparently!

CODwidow · 27/11/2012 12:09

No baby but did have 38wk check today and was contracting while there, she's asked me to take my notes and car seat when I go Xmas shopping tomorrow as we've decided to travel to reading just in case! Smile

brooke89 · 27/11/2012 12:16

Welcome rosie we'll keep you occupied till Friday! Smile

Ooo exciting COD can't be much longer now!

Clarella · 27/11/2012 12:33

Hooray spotty and felix!

Great news brooke! i sooo wanted to try pineapple this weekend!

That sounds positive utopian?

I carried on swimming till last friday at 39+5 and would have gone yesterday if had been well. Vvv good for positioning etc. Do what you feel is right though i noticed bhs and lower back aches would increase the next day, after a good swim/ aquanatal possibly helping with engaging?

Nope, def too old for shoe people! And they dont even register with alevel/student lazy tv watching! Anyone remember the Red hand gang?!! And Sailas?!

Hi again rosie posie - we'll keep you entertained at the least, sounds like youve a lot going on And i think we've agreed to stop talking about biscuits Wink

Cant remember who found the vanilla ice link but yes thats it! No sweep - if i were not preg id still be off work today and id definately not be going to capoeira, even a lazy training night, not up to labour unless lo has other ideas! I only did my first proper wee this morning since friday as have been blowing up like a balloon retaining water causing mammoth bhs - mw commented on the contractions and found hard to feel baby but when she did she said she would write 2/5 but thought might be more. Still LOA :) She thought (as i feel) my abdomen is still very sore prob causing the contractions and felt it was best not to - but i have an option tomorrow if i want it or its next tues at 41+1. what she did say though was that it was unlikely to work tomorrow but would make the 41 wk one more likely to work (although i know a few women it has worked first time for!) But i can decide tomorrow. Mind you i am just one massive bh right now!

Im the opposite of lots of you, trying to stave it off now! Still, plumber and roofers tomorrow so maybe for best!!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 13:09

Right so I sterilised some syringes. (found some 3 ml ones) and I managed to express 2.5 mls! I'm amazed, hopefully this means bfing will be easier?! Going to sterilise a pot now to store them in in the freezer.

Welcome rosie

SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 13:28

Thanks and welcome rosie Smile

Wow that's loads Stacey well done!!

Looks like you're next then COD assuming it'll be a quick birth too Wink

Clarella · 27/11/2012 13:33

Wow well done stacey!

Hoorah exciting cod!

Im still one solid bh with tougher bhs on top - feel like concrete, but no pain. I want my bra off its so high Confused

utopian99 · 27/11/2012 13:37

FOD raspberry leaf tea caps - I started on 4/day at 36 weeks, now 5/day at 37 + 4, and will be on 6/day by week 39...

Great news and thanks for swimming advice! Have had a good session although ache in base of bump but assume this is positive.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 13:38

Oh someone asked if contractions were at the top of the bump whilst it's still fresh for me, in the earlier stage, they started at the dimples in my back and went round my hips and finished at the front lower abdomen (same place as period pain).

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 13:50

I was quite Shock at the amount. I never expressed with the others. Maybe my random boob squeezing through this pregnancy has done done good! Lol

Oh cod that's exciting. Hoping to hear your baby news soon.

Anyone know how quickly the metformin should work? I upped to 2x500mg tablets last night (twice a day) and had a 9.6 after breakfast (toast that was fine in the morning last week) and an 8 after lunch (soup, again fine last week) I would have thought it should have started to kick in by now? I have called my diabetic midwife but got answer phone so left a message.

OP posts:
brooke89 · 27/11/2012 14:06

Does it have to fresh pineapple clarella?

Good effort Stacey!

Secondsop · 27/11/2012 14:08

Welcome rosie - I'm a gestational diabetic being induced hopefully late tomorrow or Thursday (2 weeks early) with my first baby. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy - hope all goes well.

spotty I'm thinking of you - hope you get to cuddle felix soon.

stacey my metformin worked almost as soon as I started taking it - it definitely helped me eat more within 24 hours. If you're just having toast for breakfast, perhaps try adding something else to it, such as protein and/or fat, eg meat, eggs, or all 3. Or houmous or peanut butter. i find that without some protein to slow down the carb release, I struggle with my sugar numbers, especially in the mornings.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 14:10

Problem is time in the mornings. I'm also getting 2 children ready for school so I have to eat on the run so to speak. Just slightly Confused that is was fine last week but not this week.

OP posts:
Secondsop · 27/11/2012 14:35

Perhaps peanut butter or houmous might be relatively straightforward? If you can face them in the morning that is. I can see that cooking eggs would be a hassle.

CODwidow · 27/11/2012 14:47

clarella I'm with you on trying to keep it off! I've actually stopped raspberry tea and sex Blush I need to get this Xmas shopping done tomorrow and then it'll be fine Grin I'm excited to meet her but just not yet.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/11/2012 15:02

Well I spoke to the midwife and she said it'll take 3-4 days for it to kick in and to keep going as I am and call her on mon. Gotta go and try and get the gp to prescribe more metformin and test strips. Let's see how well that goes! Lol

cod surely you want your waters to break in a big store, don't they give you free stuff?! Grin

OP posts:
PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 27/11/2012 15:04

Re raspberry leaf, 2 cups a day for 3 days seems to have worked for me Hmm

Clarella · 27/11/2012 15:17

Yup given up all rlt, not quite successful with the bedroom antics and less so recently due to my nest of sickness and stopped epo! Still liking dates though but i do anyway! Cross your legs COD!

Plumber and roofer in am tomorrow, helping a pal psych up for phd viva on friday then possibly sweep and lo can come .... but i had wondered about standing in john lewis for a bit after sweep!

Ironically (sorry tmi) the force of projectile vomiting for 24 hours and then being devoid of food or drink for another 24 may have done more to get baby engaged than anything else mw reckoned!

Secondsop · 27/11/2012 15:27

stacey I don't know if it's like this in your area but there seems to he a continual passing of the buck re prescribing test strips as they're so expensive - i've foubd that neither the diabetic clinic nor the GP want to be the ones that do it, and when I do get them they only give me the minimal amount. Had to practically beg for a second tub last time when 1 tub wouldn't have been enough to get me to the induction date.
