New thread! I've lost my lovely spreadsheet so if someone can add in the stats and update, that would be wonderful; I'm sure someone else had a spreadsheet that was as anally organised as me

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes, the cartons of juice/ ribena are a must. I don't really like oat bars, so may insist on crisps this time. For afterwards. When in labour I found eating was the last thing on my mind, but the ribena carton was handy to sip on (and gave DH something to do...)

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 13/12/2012 13:43

Lasagne and chips! Carb overload heaven!

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 13/12/2012 13:44

All I wanted in labour was sips of water. I got very very thirsty from the gas and air and DH's job was basically to hand me the water between contractions.

pmgkt · 13/12/2012 13:58

I just had a post lunch nap and git woken by very strong period pains, the the extent that I thought, "is it that time of the month again already, where are the tampons before I make a mess in my pants" then remembered that I'm pregnant, and though "oh dear that hurts, I never had this last time at all, maybe something will start soon"

birdiesinthesnow · 13/12/2012 14:15

pmgkt are you still in hospital? Sounds like the start to me!

Re food, oh yes the tea, toast and jam was delicious. And a nice bath run for me. It was all quite nice! I remember sitting in the bath and thinking how I'd just become a mummy :)

I can't stop eating. I've eaten all the mars bars from my hospital bag (over a few days and with DH's help mind you. I'm a greedy piggy but 4 mars bars at once is too much even for me Xmas Grin). I have just started on the galaxy ripples we bought to replace them though. I might get DH to hide them....

birdiesinthesnow · 13/12/2012 14:17

Ps pascha I was the same with the water and g&a. When i shouted for them, DH would hand me the water and then my mum would hand me the gas and air. They were quite a good team!

theboutiquemummy · 13/12/2012 14:44

anyone else had one of those days where they can't stop crying for no particular reason

dieciocho · 13/12/2012 15:11

Boutique, I had one on Sunday - we got home from an old friend's wedding and my eyes just started leaking and wouldn't stop!
I put it down to being tired, hormonal and the anti-climax after a lovely weekend.

salt1 · 13/12/2012 15:14

pasha am planning plenty of snacks that will defo include chocolate, it's just the thought of eating a meal in hospital that revolts me. i am taking jelly babies, mimi mars bars, cereal bars, rice cakes, fruit juice and water. buy them this weekend, though pretty sure jelly babies wont last til next week never mind due date!!

salt1 · 13/12/2012 15:24

i now cannot stop thinking about food. my coming home meal is going to be a full english (dh's speciality) with a small glass of champayne x

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 13/12/2012 15:38

hehe at marsbars called mimi...

SpringFlowers · 13/12/2012 15:42

I didn't feel like eating at all after the birth. I was offered toast but didn't have any. I've never even offered anything else in hospital until I was in the post natal area and at a routine mealtime. The best bet is to send dh out to buy food I would say.

We saw a consultant to discuss home birth yesterday which was really interesting. It turns out my baby is fully engaged (34+6) and head down. I had a sneaky scan as for a moment the consultant wasn't sure if the bottom was a head! I also bought a bednest today so only have a rocker for the baby left to buy. This time I would like one that reclines suitably for a newborn, rocks at different speeds and plays music. If anyone has any recommendations that would be brilliant!

Hope everyone is well, we're nearly there now!

theboutiquemummy · 13/12/2012 15:46

salt1 now that sounds like a plan to me

pascha I can't work out if its this false labour or the bloody contractions that have been going on for ages but I'm not in actual labour closed cervix and no enzyme present so I'm at home feeling a bit sorry for myself Sad

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 13/12/2012 15:50

Xmas Sad sounds crappy boutique. I felt very sorry for myself at the weekend and very heavy and crampy but its all lightened up a bit and I have more energy now. I think at this stage it all just comes and goes as our bodies start practicing for the hard bit. The hormones are just an added feature.

bealos · 13/12/2012 16:46

34 week scan went well. Placenta is normal and measurements are fine. I'd have a 5lb3 baby if it came now apparently (please let this not actually happen!).

Adding comment to the post-birth eating thing. You'll be STARVING most likely. I remember eating a curry for breakfast. I'm not sure why this was the only thing they could provide. Maybe it was lunch by that point!

godzookey · 13/12/2012 17:01

hhmmm lasagne & chips, fancy that now, although have sent DH out for pizza for dinner tonight. I just wish i fancied healthy things, green leafy vegetables & the like - I've never liked fruit so fruit cravings would never happen but i just want chips ( never eat them normally) pizza oh and singapore noodles - delicious!!

Actually even curry for brekkie sounds pretty good right now....

godzookey · 13/12/2012 17:03

birdies and salt, I would be exactly the same, if i bought food for bag now, there's no way it would last for another couple of days let alone 3 - 4 weeks ( all being well)

I have never been known for my self control at the best of times Xmas Smile

AppleCrumples · 13/12/2012 19:51

Well that's 1 Xmas show down Xmas Grin dd is doing hers tomorrow morning so at least I won't have to deal with any bouncy ones who refuse to sit and watch! Ds2 on mon and tue, it always sounds good when they get a part til you realise that means extra trips to school in the evening!

Feeling shattered now everything all feels a bit much now. I'm tired and achy and quite ready for baby to come! And I have wicked heartburn and I've run out of gaviscon

MarasmeAbsolu · 13/12/2012 21:15

DD's first Christmas show is tomorrow - singing Christmas carols at the nursery :) Looking forward to it :)

Otherwise, could not bear the building dust stuck in the air in our flat - went to Ikea to buy one of their air purifiers. We will see if it does the job.
Also had their Christmas party buffet which was tonight - quite a lot of good food for a fiver, which is always a bonus given that we do not have a kitchen at the mo!

For food to take on the ward - keep a bag of stuff to munch on in the boot of the car - this way, you won't munch it all (and it will be nice and cool too at this time of the year). Essentials last time were lucozade, little smoothies, satsumas, little savoury biscuits and crackers, mints / chewing gums.
Something I really appreciated having too was: a nice flannel to have either hot or cold over my eyes (ward lights seemed to be on all the time, with noisy staff going up and down) with essential oils, air band, flip flop (dirty showers).

Will think what else - bag is still not packed...

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 13/12/2012 21:25

Silly question alert - made macaroni cheese and noticed after I out my grated cheddar into the roux that there was a couple of spots of green mould on a few shreds of cheese.

It was thoroughly cooked after that point (obv, it was made into a cheese sauce!) - should I worry? I was hungry :(

Positive note - sweep has done something, having a bit of a show and was 1cm dilated already, so I'm hoping this one or the one next wed does the trick!

birdiesinthesnow · 13/12/2012 21:35

That's good re scan bealos

bunty no don't worry, I think mould is penicillin or something isn't it?! Or did I make that up. In any case, I had the same worry eating some mouldy bread and apparently is fine.

How come you had a sweep, I can't remember if you said? Wow dilated already, exciting!

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 13/12/2012 22:13

Sorry bealos meant to say great news on scan!

birdies thanks for reassurance! They're sweeping me early as they want her out a bit earlier as I'm a vbac - consultant suggestion! Got to say the sweep I had today was nowhere near as awful uncomfortable as the one I had at 41 weeks with DS!

No period pains or anything apart from some browny loss, but it's my last day at work tomorrow, so at least ill make it in for the pressies! Xmas Wink

How is everyone else?

pmgkt · 13/12/2012 22:37

I had bad period pain earlier but hey Ho its come to nothing. Still breech, but the fact that it can go from transverse to breech at this late stage is not good. 38 weeks tomorrow.

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 13/12/2012 22:43

Are they still saying next Friday for section, pmgkt?

Will they do an emcs if you do go into labour, or will they attempt vbac in theatre?
