Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EthelredOnAGoodDay · 26/11/2012 19:40

Hey threeforI had an anaesthetic injection today and presumably will have the same when I go back in a fortnight. The procedure in two weeks will require an X-ray (not sure if it's for the crown, or the root canal) but dentist said I was fine to have it, despite being pregnant. He said that if I wanted to defer til afterwards I could, but better to get sooner rather than later and that it poses no risk to the baby. I may just call my mw to double check but he mentioned the pregnancy several times and seemed very on the ball, so hoping he's right!

Oodthunkit · 26/11/2012 19:44

three I handed in mine today too.

StormyBrid · 26/11/2012 20:12

Re hypnobirthing, I'm not even looking into it. People have tried to hypnotise me before to no avail. I appear to be quite resistant to the notion. Much prefer the excessive swearing method of getting through birth anyway - I'm good at swearing!

Where are we all at in terms of general mobility now? This past week things have suddenly got rather more difficult. Getting stuff out of the fridge is a bit of a trial (fingers crossed fridge in new house is at the top, this freezer-on-top notion is just silly). Having trouble reaching the cats' dishes in order to feed them. Can't sit on the front doorstep any more. And I'm pretty sure I'm beginning to waddle just a bit.

Em2010 · 26/11/2012 20:35

I also handed in my matb1 today! It's all getting official now ladies!!

ethel I also had some dental X-rays when I was pg with ds, my dentist is also pretty on the ball and has young children herself so I trusted that it would be ok!

three I like your analogy re the bank of energy! There's not much room for manoeuvre is there?!

stormy I seem to be having trouble getting my socks on!

october that sucks re topshop! Hope you can find what you are looking for online.

Oodthunkit · 26/11/2012 20:48

stormy low shelves are for toddlers to help with. I can't get near work tops already Hmm

StormyBrid · 26/11/2012 21:10

I forgot about the clothes issues - socks are fine, but I now have to sit down to put my trousers on. Only things we keep on the lowest shelves are dinner plates and pans, so it's handy that the man's doing all the cooking these days. Grin The main reason I want a fridge freezer thingy with the fridge at the top rather than the bottom is more to do with cats than toddlers though - we've had a child lock on the fridge since the Steak Incident, which the neurotic cat has still not entirely been forgiven for.

lannyshrops · 26/11/2012 21:36

Hee hee, laughing at cat and steak
stormy
Hey three I'm with you on the bump thing! As long as we are growing ladies, that's all that matters, ignore unhelpful comments and waddle serenely by!

sundaesundae · 26/11/2012 21:38

ethel, I am by trade a radiographer, there is absolutely no risk to the pregnancy at all from dental x-rays (or toes or knees or upper limb etc. etc.). The reason being it is a very low dose xray and the beam is concentrated at your head. None goes near bump, so don't worry about it at all.

Hope it goes well!

ThreeForTea · 26/11/2012 21:48

Thats good ethel. Well done for biting the bullet now. Toothache is the last thing anyone wants to be worrying about while in the throes of childbirth!

For bending down i'm at the stage of having to do the proper knee's apart crouching down thing, so undignified! Also do everything around the kitchen and house a lot more slowly so it takes longer. So happy have arrangement with friend doing cleaning bathrooms, floors etc at the moment. Also am bringing the car up as close as I can to the front door to unload anything. Our off road park is about 10 metres away.

Also trying to encouage dd to climb into her own carseat and walk wherever possible rather than stick to my habit of carrying her. No longer the easy option! When she strops in the supermarket I just hold onto her rein rucksack lead and let her go for it, pretend i'm not with her, as if someone has just asked me to hold onto thier naughty toddler for a sec!

LexiandBeanette · 26/11/2012 21:48

Tramp I know, we are all funny about our bump worries :) I guess I am just unsure how big I should be so it's hard to know what is normal!
Very excited this evening as using my new iPad! Saved up for a year for it & DH agreed it could be my last frivolous purchase pre-baby. Also hoping it will save some wear and tear on my knack erred laptop!

FloweryBoots · 26/11/2012 22:20

V. quick post as is getting late and DH has already taken himself off to bed without me. Think he thought if he wasn't going to be productive doing washing up or packing he'd better just go to bed!

Had appointment with consultant today to go through notes from DS birth, which they have finally got hold of. Quite traumatic to do but glad I did. Would have been nice not to have to wait over 2 1/2 hours to be seen though. Doc was lovely and we filled in some blanks and got reassurance it wasn't a struggle just because I'm rubbish! Still can't talk about it in any depth without extreemly vivid images and emotions coming back to me so did get a bit freaked out at one point, but doc and DH remain convinced labouring again won't cause me to flash back to the last birth which is to be honest what worries me most.

Mentioned the pain in my sides when walking and she said muscular and possibly trapped nerve, and there's nothing can be done about it so just have to grit teath. Actually hasn't been as bad last few days. Also she prescribed anti emetic for GTT on Friday as I said I still wouldn't be able to do it without being sick. Why has no one said they could just give me a one off anti emetic before now when I've raised it at every appointment?!

Ethel I was going to say my Dad is a radiographer and when I needed root canal when prego last time told me there was no concern about the x rays, but Sundae beat me to it! For me they put an extra lead apron thing on my bump, but Dad said that wasn't actually really necesary.

I have just this evening ordered big boy bed for DS. It's a toddler bed so same size as cot bed but we have a just cot cot. He will have his big boy bed when we move and will be 2 1/4. He probably could have had it earlier but we were just waiting for the move as it seemed easier, though I struggle getting him in and out of the cot now. He's never tried to climb out of his cot so there wasn't ever a reason to get a bed really. Struggling to find a nice duvet cover for him though.

I wanted to go to the york NCT sale but hae to work, boo.

Right bed. Night ladies.

backwardpossom · 27/11/2012 07:55

Slept so well last night after looking out my long body pillow. What a difference! Feel so much better for it and am not going to moan today, promise! How are the rest of you marchers today? Safe and dry, I hope x

theTramp · 27/11/2012 09:00

Hurrah for a good nights sleep backward.

Boo to trapped nerves & "lumping" it.

Lexi - I think the answer is there is no normal, everyone is different. But we all think there is and stress a bit that we're not following that pattern.

Oodthunkit · 27/11/2012 09:00

Went to bed at 6:30 last night. Watched tv on laptop but rested until dd3 went to sleep. Started with BH yesterday and am getting pains ( from scar?) when I cough so being cautious. Am v tired and dh letting me sleep as long as possible.

Dd2 to hospital today but my mum is coming with us to help with dropping us off so I don't have the long walk from the car park.

Sheldonella · 27/11/2012 10:32

Hi everyone! I've not posted for a few days as I have had real trouble sleeping. I keep waking up with something hurting. Sorry to read about everyone else having discomfort too, I guess we have all reached that stage now. I had the loveliest experience last night though - I had my hands on my belly in bed and I felt something stick out for a few seconds! It must have been a knee or a foot and it was amazing :) :) She has been kicking all morning too, I feel like she has a little personality now.
possom How are you using the long pillow? I have one and mostly have it just between my knees but I end up throwing out in the night. Glad to hear you slept well.
Glad they have sorted out something for the sickness and the GTT Flowery. It seems silly that no one mentioned that before. I hope it works for you.
Ooh new ipad Lexi how lovely :) DH bought me one for our 10 year anniversary earlier this year and I love it (once I got used to typing on it. I carry it all over the house with me now, it is addictive. I don't know what to think of bump sizes anymore. I've been told several times that I am big but the doctor told me I'm exactly right for dates so I'm happy enough.
Three I'm doing the crouching when bending too. It just means DH takes pity and picks things up for me Grin Glad your DD is sleeping well now.
Glad you got your tooth sorted out ethel you are very brave (definitely to me, a dentist phobic).

zoeymlucas · 27/11/2012 10:53

Well had midwife this morning and it really didnt go great at all - on the plus side she says I would make a great study case as I have so much going on :)

I still have my infection and if its not gone by next Thursday they will be bringing me in for bed rest and antibiotics via drip, I have group B strep AGAIN which means it highly unlikely I will get a VBAC as baby will be prem so labour will be shorter so not enough time to get antibiotics on board and its a lot more risky for a prem to be delivered with it. Plus am anemic - however is it wrong I was slightly pleased about this as it explains why I am soooo exhausted all the time and feels better knowing there is actually a reason? She cant give me the iron tablets at mo because of infection/ antibiotics as they will mess them up and the infection is main priority at mo!

Have come into work and my mum is shouting at me via text - capital letters and all Hmm for not being in bed, however feel the need to keep going going as know the second I stop and let it all sink it there will be tears and a breakdown and I wont get going again so for now just plod along!

Lexi if your looking for a sim for ipad go to giff gaff its £12.00 a month pay as you go so no contract and its unlimited internet usage - they go through the O2 masts so its pretty good :)

theTramp · 27/11/2012 11:36

Zoey - bliney you're just suffering one thing on top of another aren't you. I get what you're saying about not wanting to stop, think & crumble but I'm with your Mum on this one - REST UP - you mad crazy woman you. Tears or no, you clearly need to let your body have some r&r and there's no shame in a little crumblage on occasion.

The dream geni pillow is my personal nightly torture. I hate it. Sleeping with pillow between legs etc is awful. I cannot get comfy and it makes my legs ache. But chiro is insistent that it's helping and better for me. I usually rebel at about 5 am and kick the bloody thing out of bed. Grrr. Pleased it's doing the trick for some of you, wish it had that effect for me!

OP posts:
sundaesundae · 27/11/2012 11:42

Zoey - you poor thing, FX for some improvement!

Tramp - I have given my dreamgenii to a preggo pal as I couldn't get on with it. I am currently using nothing but tossing and turning and getting up a lot. I haven't slept for more than 90mins at a time for months. At least that is all I have to worry about at the moment!

sarahs999 · 27/11/2012 11:59

Hi all. Sorry so many people aren't getting on with maternity pillows; I find mine annoying when I want to change positions but generally really useful. I actually love having a pillow between my knees - feels strangely luxurious!

What I have started to notice in the past couple of days though is lower back starting to ache. It's my only niggle though so I guess I am lucky.

Coming up to 26 weeks on Friday which is a milestone for me as it's the gestation my son was born at (actually 26+6, so will have a small toast on that date). I feel so much better this pregnancy and am blithely assuring everyone I'm not getting pre-eclampsia this time round. Fingers crossed.

Everyone who feels rough, please rest up. There are no medals for soldiering on. xx

GummiberryJuice · 27/11/2012 12:27

Hi everyone just marking place will read later and hopefully jeep up better on New thread, is there any point of thinking of a Christmas title we might be done it hfway through December

LexiandBeanette · 27/11/2012 13:32

sheldon and Zoey I am in love with the iPad, thanks for the tip on the SIM card! I think I need a bigger handbag for it ;-)

Sorry to sheldon, tramp and everyone else having problems sleeping. I keep waking myself up rolling on my back which isn't a lot of fun! I am using normal pillows, but keep kicking them out of bed or into poor DH.

Zoey you poor thing, you are in the wars! I do agree with your Mum though....it does sound like you should be recuperating. Please take care.

Yet more delay to loft extension courtesy of the party wall act and an empty house next door...am resigned to a building site Christmas and baby being born in a mess. Have become quite Zen about it now, oddly, as there is nothing that can be done to speed things up, any more than we have already. Can't believe we started trying to get this done in July!!

Sheldonella · 27/11/2012 14:24

Sorry to hear about your infection zoey you are doing well with everything that is going on. Can you get signed off work for a few days to rest at home?
Glad it is all going well sarah and that you are almost past when your DS was born.
Oh not more delay Lexi, how annoying. It is never simple when it comes to property is it. Delays buying our house were bad enough but it sounds like building on it is even worse. I hope the party wall problems get sorted quickly. Was it you that has already put in a flexible working request? I have raised the subject at work now but no one has told me how to go about it. What did you have to do?

Hmm, I'm a bit worried my sickness is coming back as I have felt a bit nauseous for a couple of days. Is anyone else finding that their bump feels heavy when walking now too?

LexiandBeanette · 27/11/2012 15:00

Sheldon it was me. I've been told verbally it will probably be OK but that my employer won't confirm in writing we begin to discuss my return, in the autumn! I don't think they are legally obliged to do anything before then. So I just need to wait and see - but I thought it was best to raise it as early as possible.

theTramp · 27/11/2012 17:31

Yes to slight bump ache, although I'm still mostly able to avoid waddling (phew!) I'm starting to have problems bending down. I always sit to put trousers, shoes etc on though - between a precarious sense of balance and two cats that see me getting dressed as an intensely curious daily game in which they should be involved it's sit or fall!

Off to see friend and baby this eve. Hopefully MrM has baked cake as instructed.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 27/11/2012 20:49

Hi all

Thanks for the X-ray reassurances em, threefor and flowery. Makes me feel better about it!

All fine here, going to try to get a slightly earlier night, but all in all feeling a lot better than I was this time last week.

Zoey, that's rubbish, hope you are feeling better soon.

Not really finding bump too heavy yet, but know it will come at some point as definitely got to that stage last time! Still feel pretty mobile at this stage, so enjoying it whilst I can. Only 24 weeks tomorrow though, do got a long way to go yet!

DD has been practicing songs for her Xmas concert on Saturday, she's doing really well, she can remember lots of the words and is even relatively tuneful for a not-quite-three year old! Grin DH and I were very pleasantly surprised.

Anyway, had better go, need to start labelling up these items for the NCT sale!

Take care all!
