Meeting all done and boss was better than I thought - I sort of explained the situation without too much detailf or his delicate man ears! Have changed my working hours to stop me having to sit in the hour of traffic every night, I can work from home when needed and he has finally ordered me a new chair as mine broke months ago and they wouldnt buy anything but funnily mine is now ordered and paid for to make it more comfy - RESULT!

theTramp · 09/11/2012 15:00

Zoey -Sounds like a start. Well done you.

Ood - As long as hype by day and conked out by night. (I can dream)

Well done Zoey

Just place marking, I have decided the fact that its my hospitals policy not to tell the sex is the reason I am busting to know now. Not helping that the more I have talked about it the more dh wants to know as well, ah well anly 18 more weeks to go until we find out! Grin

Oodthunkit · 09/11/2012 16:01

tramp nothing like dd2 then Grin

Hi everyone! I have been lurking as I can't remember my mums net password so can't comment unless on my iPad at home! Getting really tired and achey now, starting to need a nap after work again and I fall asleep everywhere at 10pm - I was flat out on the sofa at my friends house the other night!

Contraception - no idea what I'm going to do, I came off the injection because I was getting depressed for two weeks out of four (the reason I moved from the pill but it just followed me to the injection) and I realised that I didn't have to be on hormonal contraception if I didn't want to. I thought it might not be the healthiest thing to pump myself full of hormones if I could avoid it. Trouble is on coming off the injection my biological clock started ticking very very loudly Blush. I wouldn't recommend the injection to anyone, completely messes your system up.
myjob why don't you agree with the coil? As the pill has been pushed at me for so long I've never really found out about anything else so I'd be interested to know people's opinions. Particularly non hormone options, condoms are my obvious option but if bio clock starts ticking again I'd rather have something less removable!

I'm beginning to grow out of the mat clothes I bought, I never thought I would because the all looked huge before!

lannyshrops · 09/11/2012 18:04

Evening all!

Happy Friday!! I love the weekend! Just running my bath and dh is making pizza, yummy!!

Hurrah zoey for work success, I bet that's a bit of a relief?

I have just read everything and now have no recollection of anything and as on phone can't go and check! Gah! Yesterday dh was measuring old doors while I was internet looking for snazzy new ones and no sooner did he tell me the sizes, they were promptly forgotten, much exasperation from me ensued!

Won a HUGE bundle of baby girl clothes on e bay today for ten pounds, fabulous!
(nothing owl related though jojo!)

Love to all xxx

JoJoBella84 · 09/11/2012 19:46

Ha lanny I think everyone on this thread has been looking out for owls for me :) I'm watching a couple of newborn bundles on eBay in neutral colours. Although I know I'm team blue I've not bought anything gender specific!! That can happen after confirmation that he definitely has a willy!!!

I went to see Skyfall last night and loved it though flump booted me for two hours straight with every explosion and gun fire! Thankfully it tired him out and I slept pretty well last night, without the bootings at 3 and 5am!!

The OH is over from Aberdeen for a few days so will be quietly reading from a distance but probably not posting much :)

zoeymlucas · 09/11/2012 19:57

I am loving the moses basket in babies are us with the owls on at the mo jojo I just need to make DH see how much I need it :)

Congrats on bundle of cloths lanny I bet you can't wait for it to actually arrive!! Yes feeling much more relieved about work and at 4.30 when back was to much I packed up and said see you Monday and went home before major traffic- felt good even if some people looked put out by it!!!

DH is at his sisters with boys so have watched tv, had a bath, eaten Chinese and chilled out so far- loving the peace and quiet while it lasts!!!

pinkpeony4 · 09/11/2012 20:03

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is Ok. Zoey well done for talking to your boss.

Octobercarrot I meant to reply to you the other day, what is Accretta? I hope you don't have it. I hope you manage to get your phone to work!

Tramp Glad you had a good scan. Did you go to the Fetal Medicine Centre? Hope the grandparents like the dvd! Hope the Chiro helped. I went on Monday and always feel loads better after going even if the crunching she does to my back hurts at the time!

Hermione Nice to have you back Smile I find pregnancy knackering, even a sleepless newborn doesn't make me feel as bad. I am in bed at 8.30pm (I then read for a bit) most nights otherwise I wouldn't cope I think. Boys get up at 6.30 if I am lucky and sometimes often in the night so early nights are the way forward!

Lanny well done with your ebaying! I have won some gorgeous Petit Bateau girls babygro's this week at bargain prices so very excited to receive them.

Well I am home alone with the boys this weekend. DH has gone on a jolly to South Africa with some friends to visit a friend who now lives there. Planning to take them to the Natural History Museum tomorrow. DS2 loves dinosaurs. I went to a friends this afternoon who is having a clear out of baby clothes & came home with a massive bag of 0-3 month girl clothes, all very cute so excited about that. 24 weeks today Grin

Sorry not to name check further but i'm knackered. Enjoy your weekends

FloweryBoots · 09/11/2012 22:47

Not got on here in a few days so missed loads (you chatter boxes). Glanced through the last couple of pages but it is far too late for doing a proper catch up, and I never remember it any way Grin.

Things are all topsy turvy in the boots house hold, I am still awake at 10.30pm, and DH is asleep on the sofa! Bless him, he's had an endoscopy (or Bum Camera as he termed it) today so don't think he slept well last night, and it's hardly been a relaxing day. But it was all clear of anything nasty so big sigh of releif and hopefully he can relax now. Doctors had already said they weren't unduly concerrened but wanted to rule anything nasty out and it always does just make you think there is the chance it might not be something quite so innocent and it's been hanging over us a few months now waiting for various referals etc.

Zoey good work on being firm about what you need with your boss. Hope you'll feel better for it.

Saw there has been some contraception chat. Goodness contraception was not on my mind straight after DS! Condoms suit us, though I have a latex allergy so they are flippin expensive (admitedly not bougt any for a while, obviously, but last time I did they were about £8 for 5 - you relaly have to want the sex at that price!). Also discovered the latex alergy the painful way Blush wasn't until one day I had a bit of heart to heart with my sister and saying how painful sex was and she pointed out she had a latex allergy and I probably did too, just hadn't been coming into contact with it much, and not on sch a delicate area!

I can't be trusted to remember to take the mini pill because i has to be the same time each day (or did years back when I tried it) and I'm not given combined one due to my migrains, but in any case I don't really like the idea of hormonal stuff. Someone was asking why someone else didn't agree with the coil? I know my Mum (who is very open, too open at times) won't have one because it could stop an already fertalised egg implanting which she would not agree with. Not sure how I'd feel about that so haven't investigated them as an alternative to save trying to figure out how I would feel about it !

Well, must stop rabiting on and get myself adn DH to bed. Will try to catch up better over the weekend.

mandasand · 09/11/2012 23:23

Hello ladies!

Have been trying to get focused with work, re-thinking the timescales for projects I'm leading on over the next 18 months or so. But really struggling with energy levels. Am sleeping a bit better - now 1.5-3 hours between waking up needing a cough or a wee or a re-position, but my back is still a pain (literally) and the damn cold (three weeks now?) is still lingering. Getting a bit freaked out by how soon I'll be starting maternity leave and how much I want to get done work-wise before then nevermind the decorating projects! Let's not talk about To Do lists!

So today had a full on day with only 30 mins nap (not enough!) and after a nice takeaway I've been working again tonight, preparing for my Open Univ tutorial tomorrow. I've just tailored last year's tutorial to this year's assignment questions, but I've not actually read the texts so I'll do an hour or two of further prep in the morning and then wing it! (I'm getting good at that!)

In other news, my BioOil arrived and tho it went on fine - quite nicely actually - I'm not sure about the perfumed smell and since there didn't seem to be any ingredients I googled it and found it's not entirely natural - eek! Petro-something-chemicals?! I've got quite sensitive skin so will see how I go.

Also, midfulness birthing book arrived, as did the Penguin book of baby names, and three copies of the BBC Radio CD of Alan Bennett reading Winnie the Pooh (two friends' babies have arrived recently, and one will do either for us or a xmas pressie for someone else) which was a bargain on Amazon at £3.75 or something.

Enjoyed catching up with everyone's news but sorry not to name-check all.

Lexi fab fab fab about positive architect! Yes, will probably cost more, but it's the solution you need so hope you can make it work financially. Cor, Swan Lake! I saw the Bourne version a few years ago and it was stunning Smile

Myjob I have found the Depo progesterone only injection absolutely trustworthy over several years, and got pregnant about three months after stopping even though they say it could take 12, so it works for me. My friend has the implant and is equally happy with that. I used to take the progesterone only pill but was a bit flaky about remembering it (tho the window is 12 hours so not too bad!) so this is ace. I'm not sure if it works when breastfeeding ? vaguely heard something about that. Will prob go back on if it's okay to continue but I need to check.

Fab re scan Tramp! Hope grandparents enjoy it!

Zoey well done on boss-man chat! Proud of you, girl! Glad you had a bit of a rest tonight too. Take it easy over the weekend.

Well done on ebay bargain bundle, Lanny, and your bundle from your friend Pink Smile

Enjoy your time with OH, JoJo!

Flowery think I must have missed your DH's medical worries, but glad to hear that the endoscopy ruled out anything serious. Porr guy - can't be a nice experience!

FloweryBoots · 10/11/2012 09:01

Right, done a bit more catching up now, but all in the wrong order!

Re blood presure, normal really varies from person to person. Mine is usually around 100/60, think the highest it ever went up to with DS was 112 over something! But that seems 'normal' for me, though is towrads low end of normal. If it's significanlty lower than normal for you though it could make you feel grotty. After I had DS and was still in hospital mine was under 100 for the top number and the nurse said 'no wonder you look terrible, drink some more water to get your blood presure up a bit'. To be honnest, I thought the horribe birth adn lack of sleep were why I looked 'terrible'!

Support networks - with DS we were in London and all family up north and my parents can't visit much as have my grandma living with them who requires 24 hour care. But I finally made friends after having DS which was lovely - had a few before but mostly people I'd known before moving to London who'd also ended up there, and pretty far away still. I didn't do NCT classes but kind of wish I had when I saw how close others became through them, but I threw myself inot baby groups and coffee mornings and made some good friends I'm still in touch with now we've moved up to Leeds. And I'm not someone who socialises well naturally, so if I can manage it sure you guys can too. Family are closer now but still an hour or more away, but it's an improvement on 3 hours! I don't have ANY friends in Leeds so far, even though we've been here about 9 or 10 months now. Working full time doesn't lend itself to making friends (especially when work colleagues are such a miserable bunch Grin), so hoping it will change once I'm onto mat leave.

Sounds like all those with PND worries are being sensible about it. With a lack of people around me last time I wondered if I might be prone, especially as my Mum had it really bad - full on psychosis adn admited to psycheatric hospital under sedation with her first! But I was fine. Felt a bit down at times but that's normal adn I think was mainly because of how much I was struggling with the breast feeding and the associated pain I was in. My Mum was always telling me not to worry about it because other wise I would panic myself into it - very sound advice I thought!

Hope everyone has nice weekends planned. I'm just regretting attempting a few sips of orange juice! Cna drink a few more things without beign sick now, but don't think I've cracked orange juice yet. Oops.

FloweryBoots · 10/11/2012 09:03

And my goodness you were up late last night manda don't knwo how you do it! You didn't miss my DH's medical woes, I think I'd been far too self centred on ehre to have mentioned it previously!

HermioneBoo · 10/11/2012 09:08

Just read December's issue of Gurgle and there's an article about all the contraceptive options available after birth, including the copper coil which sounds like something I could get along with.

I went to a Temple Spa party last night, it's not a brand I'd heard of before but apparently sold in Harrods and Selfridges. We each had a facial and my skin feels lovely today (it ought to, I tried out an £80 moisturiser!) and I'd def recommend the face masks. It was lovely being pampered, I'd had my hair cut the night before too and tried out some up dos for the awards ceremony I've got coming up this week so feeling a little spoilt :)

Ooo my bf said that Wilko's sell their own version of BioOil for £1.99 a bottle, she says she did a direct comparison and she couldn't tell the difference so thought it might be an option, especially as I seem to be getting through moisturisers like breathing! I have a Sanex moisturising shower gel, a Q10 oil whilst my skin is wet, then body butter for my arms and legs and bump butter to avoid so many stretch marks. It's getting a bit ridiculous!

I must admit JoJo I think of you whenever I see owl baby things!

I had so e good news yesterday at work, came just at the right time too as I'd worked hard on prepping for a meeting and it all came to nothing and the meeting was a waste of time, I was really annoyed until my friend came to see me and told me places were being offered on a course I've been wanting to do for years. It's all for free too and all online so can go at my own pace, I'd wanted to do it so badly that I actually bought the course books and was teaching myself the first two modules but I'm so excited that I will be taught it as being taught with peers is a different ball game isn't it? My bf from work is doing the same course too so I have a study buddy in the making :)

Hope you all have lovely weekends, I'm off to get out of my pyjamas and do something useful....the sofa is looking very comfy though ;)

OctoberCarrot · 10/11/2012 09:25

pink. Accreta is where you have a low laying forward placenta that attcahes itself to your section scar which makes it difficult to remove at delivery. The extreme result is a hysterectomy. Hoping that it won't come to that obviously though a healthy baby is the most important thing. We are unlikely to have any more children so ir wouldn't be the end of the world.

Dh gone to stag after getting up with DS at 630 and bringing me breakfast in bed. I have caved and am dropping DS into my FIL for an hour. Using time to get supermarket shopping done for dinner tonight. Will be nice to do it on my on for a change.

iPhone still dead but have an old school Nokia that works. So archaic but will tide me over!

Mandsand it sounds like you are so busy. Make sure you get some rest also. This stage of pregnancy is great in that you feel fab but in 8 weeks or so the tiredness will kick in again.

Glad everyone is having work success and help. Much make all the difference.

Have a lovely weekend all.

OC x

theTramp · 10/11/2012 10:25

Morning everyone.

Yes chiro was bit sore yesterday but will def feel better for it.

Glad your OH isn't suffering from something horrid flowery.

Good luck with the weekends without partners ladies, sounds exhausting!

Manda - with you on to do lists and trying to work out what can and can't do now preggers. It's taking a lot of adjustment. (sigh).

I've baking to go do for friends baby shower today which I'm hosting. I should've been up over an hour ago but am so tired and MrM decided to let me snooze. So plan is:

  • mini Victoria cream sponges
  • choc fudge cake (as last weeks trial run was such a hit)
  • ginger cake OR choc eclairs (if have time)
  • cucumber, cream cheese & mustard finger sarnies
  • mini quiches
  • mini bruscheta

But am gonna have quick look at recipe book to see if there's something else I can add in there. Other ladies bringing bits too, but I do love to bake so I'm gonna use the excuse. MrM is gonna clean whilst I bake then escape to watch rugby with friends hubby.

Anon ladies

FloweryBoots · 10/11/2012 10:44

Goodness, what a lot of baking tramp I wouldn't mind being friends with you at all!

OC, so sorry to hear about the Accreta. Must be scary. I think what my sister had with her first is similar in that she had a truely massive fiberoid (as big as the baby) and had low laying forward placenta which was attached to the fiberoid instead of whatever it should have been attached to, and completly covered the babies exit route. She didn't have an easy time of it in the pregnancy as a result, and baby was 6 weeks early. BUT my neice did fine and is a very healthy bright 7 year old now, and my sister came through it all too with out hysterectomy (which she was warned may be necesary) and went on to have another baby 2.5 years later. Not the easiest pregnancy or birth but they got through it and were fine in the end so it doesn't always mean all bad. Hope you're managing to stay posative xxx

pinkpeony4 · 10/11/2012 13:53

OC thank you for explaining about Accreta, that sounds really scary so I hope all is ok? I suppose the fact that they know about it now means that they can monitor you extra closely?

Manda good luck with all your work deadlines. When are you going on maternity leave?

Tramp your baking sounds amazing! Is there time to make all that this morning - yummy!!

Hermione I have a few friends who had the copper coil & it resulted in non-stop bleeding so they had them removed and a Mirena put in instead. I loved the idea of the copper coil and so no hormones but not the idea of constant bleeding. The Mirena one only releases hormones topically so the side effects were very few. If only there was an easy option with contraception!

Flowery poor you still being sick Sad surely it will go soon! Did you have it throughout your last pregnancy?

Support network - My mother lives in Oxfordshire so not too far from here and she comes for the day when she is in the Country but she travels a lot - maybe half the year she is jetting off somewhere! Her next big trip is a car rally around South America for 6 weeks. All very nice but she leaves on Feb 14th & I am due on March 1st! She has been amazing when my boys were born so I will really miss her help. It is part of the reason why we decided to get an au pair. My father is amazing with the boys but lives a 3 hour drive away and so can't come that often. I would love a childhood for my boys like I had with all my family in the same City - so handy for babysitters!!!

I couldn't face the Natural History Museum this morning, it is raining and so would be heaving and meant 2 buses to get there. I drove to the Horniman instead and it was fab. Boys loved the aquarium & Natural History part. Then Pizza Express for lunch. Back home now for a quick sit down before taking ds1 to a trampolining party Smile DH sent me a photo of the yacht he was about to go on for lunch in the 30 degree heat - lucky bugger!!

Enjoy your weekends

sundaesundae · 10/11/2012 14:42

I had a copper coil and had a nasty experience, I got pregnant and had to have a termination on medical advice. Slightly unusual situation with me, but I also know a lot of people that have got pregnant on them, so they aren't fool proof!

OctoberCarrot · 10/11/2012 14:59

Thanks for good wishes. Tis great that it has been hi lighted and will be closely monitored so no point in stressing bout it. If it is serious in January we will deal with it then I guess. Imagine in the days before scans what things were like. It is actually ironic that the scanning depaetment in the hospital I am attending is named after an exes dad who brought scanning to hospital. Makes me chuckle when I go!

flowery. That is fab for your sister. I have a fibroid - not that big thouhg - as well which is why I had a section the first time. Might be contributing to these complications.

pink. Sounds like your mum has a great life. Is it raining in London today? A girl I used to be friendly with is getting married in Mayfair today. Think this is contributing to my funny humour this week.

Woke up thinking I was 24 weeks and am in fact 23 weeks..... My brain is mush.

DS had a ball with his granddad. And I bumped into my mum at the shopping centre. We had a lovely coffee and then went to a shop and I got a gorgeous non maternity dress for the wedding in December and what is more my mum treated me to it!

Have a lot of support but need to ask. My siblings both live abroad which is hard but am hoping my sister who does not have children will come to Ireland for a week when the new baby is born to help my Mum out.

Have a cuppa whilst DS naps. Love the p&q. Must start dinner for this evening shortly.

Em2010 · 10/11/2012 16:42

sundae that also happened to a friend of mine and she had to have a termination too. Very sad situation and always made me worry about the coil.

Hello to everyone else, sounds like you're all having busy days! Busy day here too and I'm completely knackered. However dh is cooking dinner tonight!! This only happens about once a year and the poor man usuallt struggles to cook pasta so I don't know how he's going to manage a game casserole but I am humouring him and it is just nice to have someone else cook for me!

LexiandBeanette · 10/11/2012 17:32

Hello everyone - back home and just popping in after busy time in London.
manda I also saw the Matthew Bourne Swan Lake and was blown away. Loved last night's, too - this was much more traditional, but beautifully danced with amazing constumes! Beanette was quite active in the loud bits too, hope it was OK for her.
Have to say after the journey, 12pm bed and a morning of walking round (and stuffing myself with dim sum) I am absolutely exhausted. Feel quite feeble and was very glad that DH volunteered to pick me up from London and bring me home! Did manage to squeeze in a trip to Chinatown to stuff myself silly with dim sum.
Slightly upset by friend telling me not to put on 'too much weight' - I've put on 7kg but I feel like my bum has suddenly got massive - but I do pay attention to what I eat and am trying to keep moving!
Tramp love contortionist baby and glad you had such a lovely experience at the scan!
Zoey sounds like boss progress.
Pink I love the Natural History Museum! Am looking forward to having a LO to take and the perfect excuse to go! :)
Sorry not to namecheck more but am falling asleep. Sounds like lots of you are having lovely weekends - good news :)

GummiberryJuice · 10/11/2012 17:52

Hi ladies just place marking

Em2010 · 10/11/2012 18:08

Grr lexi don't listen to your friend! Listen to your body!! Wish people wouldn't feel that it's their job to comment on our changing body shape in pregnancy. I lost 4 1/2 stone after ds!

Aw manda meant to say earlier how your talk if the Alan Bennett Winnie the Pooh gave much such a rush of nostalgia! I had it as a child but had forgotten about it until you just mentioned it. One more present for my already very spoilt ds I think!
