I've caught up now...phew!

Tits Sounding good for you there? Just ask for a sweep! TODAY!!

I've been another one BH'ing away since 36 weeks, I did get worried that he may make his entrance before 37 weeks. But no, here I am at 39+3, still feeling 'ready' but no, he is not. First time around I just woke up with pain! Admittedly I'd had a sweep 4 days before, and then a show 2 days later... so slight 'signs' but no pain to speak of til I woke at 8am, thinking, ow, that hurt! Hmm And I was t+13 :(

I think all this is quite common! Well, from my observations in work anyway!

Oh and SCREW YOU Clary Sage. Not only did it spectaularly fail to produce anything more than one slightly stronger BH, but it then ceased all activity all together! Not even felt a poo twinge since.... DP didn't get a shag. I'm really not that desperate even if he is Grin

That will be my t+13 tactics if all else has failed!

Oh, welcome Jims you'll fit in nicely around here Grin

DP just text me asking what I want for tea. A baby please....? Failing that MM, send another baked potato my way!

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 13:42

Tits cyclizine can literally send you off your tits!

I had an amazing reaction to it once, i'll not bore you with the details, but it was like an out of body experience! I accused the nurses of giving me IV tramadol not IV cylizine haha!

Anyway, yes, its normal, but next time ask them to give it very slowly. It is what I was using to inject myself with for the hyperemesis.

I'd like to think I'm an expert in cyclizine administration techniques now Grin

It will wear off, just have a little snooze. It will make you sleepy.

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 13:44

Ondansetron works better tbh, but cyclizine and stemetil are first line treatments for nausea and vomiting usually.

Ask for stemetil as well, as both together often help.

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/10/2012 13:48

Ahh I had it in a tablet they said they can change to injection if its tolerated better.

I did ask for a sweep but they never gave a yes/no answer. I'd really rather not see my consultant tomorrow after our last meeting, I think I'll ask about that sweep again.

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 13:56

The injection usually gives the undesirable effects! I don't find the tablets that effective until after an injection to be honest.

Depends on the reason for the nausea/vomiting - if yours is because of morphine, you are probably better with a slowwwwwwwwwwww IM injection! And then tablets after it is under control!

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/10/2012 14:06

I had the morphine yesterday (liquid) and was fine, it slightly numbed the pain enough to sleep. I had it for a good several months last year and was never ill.
First dose this morning caused a tsunami of vom that doesn't seem to want to settle even with the anti sickness. So now they're reviewing the Oramorph I'm back to paracetamol and sickness!

This had best be the best damn baby I have ever seen I tells ya!

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 14:07

This house smells like a bloody drugs den with all this clary sage floating around. Gonna have to open all the windows and air it out!

I seem to have gathered more energy in the last few days! Am going for a walk with the mother and various children (inc. DS) tomorrow. Mum is worrying that I won't be able to do it! This time last week, I probably couldn't of! Now I could possibly hike up a mountain Grin if I ever did such a thing in the first place Blush

Surely labour must be close now Grin I wouldn't mind, but I've left him alone for 2 1/2 weeks to do his own thing! He should be grateful and just come out when I want him to Grin. Fair enough?!

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 14:08

It better become a millionaire by the age of 5 Tits Grin

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 14:10

I really should get out of bed now, shouldn't I? Blush

It is comfy though! I really need to have a shower and put mount washmore away. These are the only things on my 'to do' list today. And I CBA even doing that!

I would have done more - except fecking DP has took my bank card to work. I now have no money and there is very little food in the house. So I am saving reserves by not moving and wasting energy Grin

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 14:11

I realise the contradictory nature of my last posts.

I have energy... just CBA using it Grin

ditsygem · 30/10/2012 14:13

grrr - I have just been for my 28 week appointment with the midwife and she said baby is still free, not engaged at all - although he is head down at least (ROA) so not great but not terrible.
She mentioned about me having to be refered to the hospital (I'm booking in at the stand alone MLU) if he didn't engage early in labour which worries me.
Any tips to get him to engage? I am currently bouncing on my birthing ball as I type this!

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/10/2012 14:20

Thought waters had gone for a min but turned out to be wee- nice.

I'm bored too, ds is watching pippin but I know he'd rather be running around outside but I don't have the energy today. I've changed into my pjs already Grin

We did go out this morning though I'm not that cruel, although missed a bloody parcel delivery.
My Moses basket fitted sheets (pink!) came today they're v soft, 2 for £6ish off amazon.

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/10/2012 14:21

Detective do you know anything about true knots? I'm bored so going through all my random notes I scrawled at the beginning few weeks of pregnancy.
DS2 was born with a true knot and the cord round his neck. I keep getting told its very rare , is this true? Is it likely to happen again? DS was dark blue when he was born and they said his 36 week arrival was likely to do with distress but they never picked up on it in scans or ctgs.

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 14:24

It is rare - I've seen 3 in 8 years. 2 at sections, 1 at a normal delivery.

It is unlikely to reoccur, it isn't usually possible to pick up on a scan or anything. It is usually caused earlier in the pregnancy when there is more room to flip about!

StuntNun · 30/10/2012 14:35

DH we're having a pyjama day here at the boys' request. I have no idea why they want do stay in their pyjamas all day but they were very keen on it and it had to be on a rainy day! So far we have had a two and a half hour Monopoly game (with a shocking amount of cheating by DS1 who at age 9 should know better), painted with watercolours, watched four episodes of the Avengers cartoon and now we are on Lego building. It's funny how much quicker the day goes when they're at school and I'm on MN running round doing errands all day.

My DH is staying home tomorrow for Hallowe'en (must get him to get something delish for dinner seeing as the boys will be out at a Hallowe'en party so he can occupy them then and I can sleep.

Is anyone else worried that they won't have the energy to get through labour? I'm very tired at the mo and coping with depression etc. is taking a toll. I'm wondering whether I might be better off asking for a section after all as my last two labours have involved a lot of interventions.

OP posts:
Titsalinabumsquash · 30/10/2012 14:38

Well there you go, trust DS to be awkward! I donated it for research. Smile

Stunt I very much have had that worry, I think you get an adrenalin boost during labour to help you through. (I might be wrong)

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/10/2012 15:23

stunt I dread going into labour in the evening because I know I won't get any sleep that night. With ds my waters went at 2am so I'd had a bit of sleep, I'd really like a whole nights sleep before going into labour this time so I want things to kick off first thing in the morning!

TheDetective · 30/10/2012 15:28

I'm a bit the same DH I don't want to go in to labour when tired!

Am trying to conserve energy as much as possible! Naps help Grin

Lilliana · 30/10/2012 15:40

Pass my body doesn't feel like it is making any effort to get ready to do anything so think I'll be hanging around with you!

HV turned up early! I hadn't had time to hoover! As it was she asked loads of questions about my and DH's childhood / relationship with parents / illnesses etc. Apparently everyone gets a visit now so don't have to worry about being on a 'list' somewhere Grin

I should now finish off the cleaning but suffering from CBA now I'm sat down.

Sorry to hear you are now being sick on top of everything else Tits, any news on the sweep?

Lilliana · 30/10/2012 15:45

Also was given my red book and just seen there is a netmums sticker inside the front cover! Where is the mumsnet one?

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/10/2012 15:45

No news, they're just all repeating the "we need to wait to speak to your consultant" line. Hmm
It's like she is some sort of obstetric ruler of the world, it's not giving me a lot of hope to be honest, if a doctor cannot see how it would be beneficial for me to try labouring on my own to completely bypass the induction without seeking the approval of a higher body then I give up!
I know it might not work at all but the surely trying wont hurt!

Brockle · 30/10/2012 15:57

I would definitely complain tits after you have your baby as it is ridiculous that someone cannot make a decision. It sounds like they are covering their own backs at your expense.

I would like a night birth. With DS2 I started having contractions at 8pm ish and had Zak at 3am. I was home at 10.30am in the morning so DS1 barely had time to register I was gone. The tiredness hit afterwards altho DH was exhausted throughout.

Don't want any visits from HV's if I can help it. I don't find them useful at all.

georgee · 30/10/2012 16:12

Another one who finds HV visits as useful as a chocolate teapot here Brockle. But mine is rubbish, everyone who has her says so!

Passmethecrisps · 30/10/2012 16:46

I've never had a HV visit and don't expect one until after baby arrives.

I very nearly just left for yoga a full hour early. No idea why as every clock in the house is the correct time. Think I might be going slightly mental.

Now settled with a cup of tea and the cat on my knee flicking through my ready steady baby book.

tits have you met this all-mighty consultant before? She sounds scary biscuits.

MM I am glad your in law visit wasn't as bad as you were expecting. Sounds like you had plenty of opportunity to lay down vital reserves for breast feeding!

pasties I will bet your Crunchie ice cream thing was tasty as a tasty thing. Have another one to make up for the rubbish situation with your kitchen. We rent a flat and are constantly concerned about something big and expensive needing done. Touch wood it seems to be holding together ok at the moment.

lilliana I am glad someone else's body is on a go slow. I think my inner sloth is enjoying all the lazing about.

I do need to stop lying out on the sofa though. Practically needed a crow-bar to get me back off it again!

ShellyBobbs · 30/10/2012 16:50

Oh the inner sloth, I like it!
