Yeah stretch marks tend to be hereditary (boo). You can use things like bio oil, or coconut oil to keep the skin supple, but sometimes they just happen. Another huge aspect of keeping the skin healthy and stretchy (and avoiding tears down there during delivery) is diet. We've had some amazingly healthy first time moms without a stretch mark or a skid mark after the fact.

Yes to the sore boobs!
Also, the days are kind of developing a pattern now, 2 sick days, 1 day off (just ravenous instead), repeat. Of course I just worry through the day off that my symptoms are going away in stead of relish in the fact that I'm not green all day. Oiy.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 23/10/2012 13:45

yes fash there was jar throwing too. Luckily my boobs don't hurt too often these days. But i think they've done all the growing they're going to do for now.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 14:09

If anybody fancies seeing our Iceland photos, send me your Facebook name and I'll add you. You can't add me as only friends of friends can do that! :-)

Lorelei353 · 23/10/2012 14:57

I'm having a total dilemma.

One of my close friends moved to Portugal last year so I only see her when she pops back to work every few months. She's back this weekend and big night out is planned with all my best friends.

I thought I could go and get around the not drinking by claiming to have had a migraine earlier in the day as that's genuinely happened to me before and I don't drink if I've had one as it can make them worse.
However, I'm too tired! I don't want to go out late for a big night. I want to stay at home on the couch. Waaaahhhh!!! Sad

What to do....

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 15:08

Can you ask her if you can see her earlier? Still use the migraine as the reason, but say sleep will make you feel better, so it would help to see her in the afternoon.

Is that possible?

Lorelei353 · 23/10/2012 15:13

Unfortunately not. Another friend is giving a talk that afternoon at a big event and she's going to that.

I might just push people to meet early-ish, like 8, then turn up for a bit to say hello but plead migraine and go home at 10.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 15:25

Bugger...hopefully the early start will work then. :-)

peardrop2 · 23/10/2012 15:37

MrsB have you seen the nurse yet?

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 16:19

Walking home now. Nothing exciting, just waiting for midwife appt. On a Monday afternoon. Useful.

kittykatskumkwat · 23/10/2012 16:27

Thanks pear for the offer, I was abit worried by what you said so as I was at a home and bargins earlier bought some 79p cheepies and did one test with wee then added 2 times the same amount of water to the wee and did another and the test diluted with water is 3 times as strong as the first so must be I have too much hormone like that hook effect said, very strange but just a warning if anyone else finds a stray test!!

peardrop2 · 23/10/2012 17:30

kitty I don't quite understand your theory but I'm glad you've found a solution to your problem.

Oh how I wish stretch marks were hereditary! My mum has had lots of children with not one mark and I've had 0 children but got a couple when loosing 2 stones a couple of years ago around the love handle area! My mothers skin is very different to mine so I've had to learn the hard way. I've recently brought some Moma Mia tummy rub as that brand has been highly recommended to me. I'm not such a fan of Bio Oil...it didn't help me before and it's very greasy.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 17:33

I have stretch marks at the base of my back from growing too fast!

I'll moisturise my bump, but what will be will be. As with the entire pregnancy thing.

peardrop2 · 23/10/2012 17:38

MrsBri I do hope my moisturiser helps otherwise I'm going to turn into a atlas :-)

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 17:52

Could be interesting! I'm sure your DH will love you anyway! :-)

bringonthetrumpets · 23/10/2012 18:03

Even though I have no idea if it works or not, I really like Mum to Be from Sanctuary (Boots). The smell is amazing and it still brings me right back to the day I was in labor with #1, and it's super moisturising, but not greasy. Lovely stuff.

kittykatskumkwat · 23/10/2012 18:04

Sorry pear, basically because after your over 8 wks your hcg is in the thousands of thousands ( the tests pick up 25) it confuses the tests to not know how to deal with the result, if you dilute the wee with water thereby reducing the concentration, the test can read it. Strange but true aparently, I only know because of dr google!!
I think stretch marks are just in your make up but as me my sis or mum havnt had any but me and sis used bio oil last time and I will again

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 23/10/2012 18:45

Moisturise your boobs too. Stretch marks on them just isn't fun. to illustrate I was a 34b before dd1, a week after she was born and a few days after my milk came in, I was a 36e. (They didn't stay that big thank god) but huge increase in short space of time = stretch marks on boobs

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 18:58

That means touching my boobs...ooh :-/ I think DH may like that job though!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 23/10/2012 19:21

Safer to do it yourself mrs that was only 1 person gets hurt Wink

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 19:38

Awww...poor DH! :-)

kittykatskumkwat · 23/10/2012 20:06

Grin at frus
Well I didnt get stretch marks on my boobs but that may be because I went from a 34c to ........ Wait for it a 34d!!!! Maybe for a day they were abit bigger but I don't remember being that blown away piddley boobs

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 20:08

I started as 34DD...god knows where I'll finish!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 23/10/2012 20:09

8pm is an acceptable bed time isn't it?

TMI alert.
Eew. Just had very random ms. No warning or anything. it better stop that right now as I have work tomorrow.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 23/10/2012 20:13

kitty mine clearly did the growing they were supposed to do in puberty. Grin stayed 34dd until after dd2 when they deflated to 34d. but have been slowly decreasing in recent years, so i'm happy to be back to filling bra cups.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 21:06

Mine are getting more sore by the hour :-(

And I have to go to work tomorrow. Really not looking forward to that one!
