I'm finding out Grin im too impatient, can't be bothered to worry about names until I know if it's for a boy or a girl!
I did a really stupid thing yesterday, had a hpt I hadn't used and thought id use it to see it nice and strong but it was so so faint, swift googles reveal a "hook" effect that means when you are between 7-11 weeks the levels are so high that the test can't read them correctly and you have to dilute wee with water for it to go strong! I have no more though and don't think I should waste any money?! What do you all think? Clearly non of you have been that silly ( and I've had withdrawals from not poas Sad) I've had no signs anything untoward has happened so think I'm just going to leave it as the tests don't tell you what's happening anyway do they?!
stupid kitty booked a private scan for sat anyway as should be 9 weeks and wanted to make sure everything looks ok before I go on a friends hen do and have to tell them before my scan, not ideal at all but no way I can go away for the weekend without child on a party bus and get away with a lie ( they know we want another so itd be too obvious) £55 that's pretty good for a weekend aswel isn't it

  • oh and pear I had no ma and a girl so you are still non the wiser sex wise Wink
FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 23/10/2012 09:32

Yes nic finding out early is hard, because the first couple of weeks really seem to drag.
And noone (midwives) don't seem like the want to know you until your a good few week gone. It can be a lonely time with noone in RL to talk to.

Thundernonk · 23/10/2012 09:32

Oh sorry nic, I figured maybe your philosophical hat from yesterday had slipped off and you just needed a reminder to try to put it on again.

I think we all feel exactly the same, we all want to know all the time what's going on and whether it's going to work out. And sometimes MN doesn't help, other times it can be a great support. The way I see it, the whole of pregnancy and then even more parenthood means having to lose a bit of control- having to do your best in the situations you find yourself in. I'm probably wrong but that's how it feels now and I'm trying to get used to it. Not easy.

That's why I stopped myself buying a test yesterday, kitty. Think I'll also be paying for a private scan though. All seem to be 99 round here. Need to look harder as can't justify paying that! :-/

We just have to focus on the positives and not the potential negatives, I think. Bloody hard though.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 09:38

It's OK, Thunder...I need a bloody slap really!! DH always says I'm too controlling, and he's right.

Definitely feeling hormonal and headachey today, which has to be a good sign. Though my belly looks smaller. Always something to concern myself with. Must stop!

kittykatskumkwat · 23/10/2012 09:46

Thanks Nic, plus your poopy seed shouldn't make that much of an impact on your tummy just yet Wink
Don't fear, no one could tell I was pregnant last time till 20wks! And I felt good the whole time x

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 09:59

That's good to know :-) I'm just being hormonal and stupid! And hungry today!

Time to research scans now.

peardrop2 · 23/10/2012 10:42

MrsBri I've not had any ms symptoms apart from very bad constipation early on (occasional constipation now but have learned how to manage it a bit better), tiredness, insomnia (at the start), weird dreams, sore boobs, extreme hunger (went two weeks (6-8) of having to have mini cheddars in the middle of the night), very spotty skin and my mum says I look pale thanks mum! The tummy size (for us first time mummies at this early stage is just bloating, it will come and go until our beans move into the tummy region and grow (from 12 weeks). I can't tell you how much I've been freaking out! I was totally freaked out that I had no ms so I haven't enjoyed it at all which is stupid but sods law! So it is safe to say that everything you say and feel is normal! Get a good doppler now and then you will have something to look forward to, it really helps with the worry! :-)

kitty I found a stash of cheapie tests in one of my moving boxes the other day and the result came back in seconds. I've got 8 left now. Do you want me to post one to you? Nicola is right though, sadly it won't tell us anything as the hormone levels stay in the system for a while anyway. How far are you? You could maybe get a doppler?

Lorelei353 · 23/10/2012 10:45

Morning all.

MrsBri I was all smug and convinced I was going to avoid ms or other nastiness as I felt great at 5 weeks. Then at 6 weeks to the day the queasies started. Now at 7 + 2 and generally have been bleurgh for a week.

Actually I feel a bit better today. Definitely huge-boobed and hormonal but definitely not as queasy.

I have however just learned a lot about peeing in a cup from catching up on this thread Hmm

peardrop2 · 23/10/2012 10:46

Oh and MrsBri although seeing the scan is amazing the worry for me came back the next day it felt like I was back to square one. Even having 3 scans now hasn't helped my worry. I won't feel better until the 12 week scan when someone tells me that things are developing as they should be. The only thing that has helped me a little is hearing the heartbeat.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 10:56

Ah...spottiness has started :-/ Just glad it avoided the wedding!

It is reassuring to hear your (non) symptoms, Lorelei and Peardrop. Maybe a doppler would help once I get to that point! Will look into it on payday (wedding has half-bankrupted me this month!).

I'm sure my nurse will give me a mental slap. She's German and very no nonsense! :-)

I'm sure I'll wish the sickness away if and when it comes, however.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 10:57

Oh, and happy to help re peeing in a cup, Lorelei! ;-p

fashionvictim · 23/10/2012 10:59

Morning all Smile

Mrs Finding out early is rubbish, I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and I've known since I was 3+5 !! It goes soooo slow... FX you don't get MS but if you do I reckon it will be at the 6 wk mark. Up until then I had sore boobs, headaches and was super tired.

I don't think we will find out the sex, although I cant even imagine the 12wk scan, never mind 20wks!

peardrop2 · 23/10/2012 11:03

So, who has started using stretch mark cream? Any recommendations from all the 2nd/3rd/4th time round mummies?

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 11:09

Fashion, I found out at 3+5 too! Awful, isn't it (in the nicest possible way!)?

I am tired, but also don't sleep very well. I can nap in the afternoon if I have time (won't from tomorrow as back at work, boo!) but even if I don't, I struggle to stay asleep at night. Vivid dreams too. Not weird, overly, just vivid.

I can't imagine the 12 week scan either. Seems an age away.

We'll get there!

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 11:10

I do have headaches almost every day and sore boobs (not as sore today). And MASSIVE boobs too, ha ha!

merrygiant · 23/10/2012 11:10

Morning everyone, welcome to the new faces!

You lot had a right old giggle yesterday then, sorry I missed the joys of PIATH and other containers. I have eczema too but I'm not even gonna go there!

MrsBri I felt exactly like you at your stage, you feel calm one minute and then the swells of panic overwhelm you: and its all so out of your control. Glad to see you're researching early scans cos each area has different policies and you may live somewhere that will offer early scans on the NHS in some circumstances. And its worth remembering that noone can actually check if you tell them you have pain Wink

I had a scan at 6/7weeks and although I know that anything can happen between now and my next scan, it has really helped me to calm down. It is SUCH a long wait to see all is well at 10-12 weeks.

My current symptoms:
continuing madly itchy nipples (they are so sore now)
irrational crying/crazy mood swings
ravenous hunger
low level constant nausea

I'm off today and plan to: watch alot of telly, eat alot of crap, maybe do some chores (the other two come first)

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 11:13

Hi merry, thank you.

I'll just see what the nurse says later. I have had pain, so that wouldn't be a lie. Though it's only on and off, not constant. I'll be as honest as possible and just see what she thinks is best for me.

If I don't get an early NHS scan, I'll then look to pay for one, I reckon.

It's so good to know I'm 'normal' with how I feel.

The itchy nipples are appalling, aren't they? At least mine aren't constant.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 11:15

Hmmm...self referral to early pregnancy unit: www.southportandormskirk.nhs.uk/depts_wards_clinics/epau.asp

Interesting!

Lorelei353 · 23/10/2012 11:35

It feels like ages until my gp appt (1st Nov) and who knows when my scan will be after that. I'm resisting early scans and things as I'm trying to be calm about the whole thing. I actually thought I'd be more neurotic about it all but I'm trying to just let my body do its thing and I'll just carry on with the schedule the docs give me.
We'll see how long this zen approach lasts Grin

fashionvictim · 23/10/2012 11:54

Oh yeah Mrs forgot to say I haven't slept through the night once since being pg, and not always because I'm dying for a pee either. I used to be able to sleep through anything. Not anymore! I never usually dream much so the weird dreams really freaked me out at first!!

I think Thunder found out really early too if I'm not mistaken... the boobs were a dead giveaway for a lot of us!

Lor I am trying the Zen approach too, my DH asked if I wanted to get an early scan but I said we should wait for the 12wks!! I surprised myself when I said that!

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 11:54

I flip between calm and panicky! :-) Split personality.

I've just had a thought in the shower...they'd want to know as early as possible if it's twins, wouldn't they?

I'm at risk if twins because: a) I'm over 35, b) I'm taller than average and c) they run in the family, and none of my cousins have had them and I'm statistically therefore more likely to be the 'winner'!

I'm also feeling that strange tugging / pulling sensation on both sides, which is interesting.

Definitely mention that one :-)

May be my ticket to an early scan.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 11:57

The boobs are special indeed.

I just 'knew' I was pregnant. Not being able to face alcohol at 3+4 assisted that thought. With my new boobs!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 23/10/2012 12:12

And thund made me and my boobs run up and down stairs. Grin

Personally I don't think stretch mark cream makes any difference whatsoever

fashionvictim · 23/10/2012 12:56

Ha ha frus I remember that!! Wasn't there are conversation about throwing jars at them to see if they hurt?! Imagine doing that now - OUCH!! Grin
