Is it the tightening ones you're having thunder? It's the painful ones that I'm not looking forward too.

So at each elections each state votes for their own amendments, and the party representative you want?. that's so different to over here, but we are tiny relatively

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 23:07

Yes. Well... it's so complicated. With presidential elections happening every 4 years I completely have to re-learn how it works. So: there's the popular vote for the candidate (where we all vote for who we think should be the president), then there is the electoral college vote (each state has at least 3, many have more than that)-which is what actually determines who wins (wikipedia can explain it so much better than I could ever try). Plus we vote on who is going into the senate, house representatives, state governor every 8 years, judges for the supreme court.... (it's a big fat ol' mess!). I'll be excited to un-learn it all in a couple of days when this is over!

Jojoba1986 · 07/11/2012 02:13

How are you doing trumpets? I just woke up & at the moment it's not looking good for Obama! I think he might end up being a victim of his own propaganda - he was billed as being America's saviour but has yet to introduce the promised utopia! I'm awful when it comes to voting over here. I usually feel like everyone's essentially the same & will do/say whatever they think will make them most popular so I usually vote against whoever did it last to 'give the other guy a go'! I like to be fair & let everyone have a turn! Grin

Jojoba1986 · 07/11/2012 04:51

Well, apparently America doesn't like to let people take turns! Wink I guess Romney's campaign had quite a few 'incidents' which generated bad press! Seems to have been quite a close thing though! I'd hate to be a president in charge of a government where the other party had a majority! I think it's really weird that that can even happen! Confused

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 07/11/2012 06:53

Ah but jojo you can't change an entire system the world in 4 years.

Right I have a dilemma; belt=fat podgy belly. No belt=pg belly. I'm gonna have to go for the belt aren't I?

peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:09

Have just told DH to get me breakfast in bed. Anyone pushing their luck with other half? ;-) I may need to back down after today lol

So Obhama won then!

MrsBri · 07/11/2012 07:10

What a choice, Frustrated! I'm resigned to looking a bit pregnant, I think. I would like to look fat right now though as gossip bitch girl is back at work today after a couple of days off :-(

But yes, fat is good :-)

And hurrah for sensible Americans. I was worried there!

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling sorry for myself! I have lovely company :-) And I'll try Appletize. Something has to taste OK!

And can any of you ladies explain this: on days where I am actually physically sick (like today, while brushing my teeth. Classy!) I don't feel anywhere near as nauseous and rough as days where I'm not sick. I just know sick is coming soon, throw up eventually, then feel better.

I think I prefer proper being sick, I've decided!

peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:13

OMG is this why I like appletizer so much? I drank litres in week 6-10. I'm now trying to cut down after friends mum who is a nurse told me how easy it is to develop diabetes when pregnant. That didn't stop me eating Terry orange last night Blush

MrsBri · 07/11/2012 07:15

Oh, I'm seriously pushing it with DH! He moans a bit, but gets on with it. :-)

Scan today, Peardrop...how very exciting!

MrsBri · 07/11/2012 07:17

Ha ha! Appletize is clearly the way forwards :-) I'll have to obtain some.

peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:21

I'm absolutely crapping myself :-( Hardly slept a wink. DH's cool as a cucumber front is starting to wind me up!! :-)

Thundernonk · 07/11/2012 07:25

Morning all,

I thought appletize was just apple juice and carbonated water- no added muck or sugar so it can't be too bad?

I'm pushing my luck with OH too pear, evening tiredness means he is on dinner making duty pretty much every night at the mo. I do daytime stuff though.

I don't think I look too fat or pregnant at the moment. Another piece of evidence that this is all in my head?!

peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:25

Frus hope you're feeling better today :-) well, less hormonal anyway.

peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:27

Thun I've not checked the label for ingredients yet, just assume it has sugar like the rest of fizzy drinks but hopefully not!? Glad I'm not alone on making OH work hah hah :-)

MrsBri · 07/11/2012 07:30

DHs do seem very calm. Swines! Alright for them! :-)

Not sleeping isn't good. I've been mostly awake since 4, but did go sleep on the sofa at 9, so could be worse!

Bet our husbands didn't realise how hard we would work them, ha ha!

MrsBri · 07/11/2012 07:33

www.appletiser.co.uk/products/pear

Yep, no added shit, so should be not so bad. Still got its natural sugars though.

Thundernonk · 07/11/2012 07:35

What time is it, pear? the scan not just what is the time now

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:35

Oh yay! Does it count for one of your day then? Love that it suggests you could have it for breakfast...wonder if the person writing that was pregnant :-)

peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:36

11am :-) Will report when I get home around lunchtime

Thundernonk · 07/11/2012 07:37

Yeah I thought it was good stuff, as I'm not really into the usual fizzy drink chemicals either.

OP posts:
Thundernonk · 07/11/2012 07:38

Ooo at least it's in the morning, good to get it done soon. What will you do between then now and then?

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 07:43

Get dressed and flap around Thun! Takes a while to get there and then there is parking and finding the right dept because we're seeing a specialist apparently it's not in the EPU anymore. Or maybe that's normal to move to another part of the hospital for the 12 week scan. All my scans so far have been at the EPU and I have no letter to go by so we will just be walking around clueless for a while until someone points us in the right direction!

Thundernonk · 07/11/2012 07:47

Oh god I know that feeling. Yeah leave yourselves plenty of time to find it! Not nice waiting but not as bad as the last 2.5 months?!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 07/11/2012 08:17

I'm not so teary today pear. I'm in angryfrus mode. I'm very angry. have good reason too but I am quietly seething. Why can't people keep they judgy up their own arses judgements to themselves? I've left DH in charge of complaining. I just can't be dealing with it.

Thundernonk · 07/11/2012 08:19

Oh no frus, not more grief? You could do without this.
