Thunder I read that the cheaper dopplers won't pick up a HB until after 12 weeks (but some people say different). It's because they have a different MhZ to the more expensive ones from £40 plus. Don't worry that you haven't found anything yet. Have you tried with a very full bladder & empty bladder? We found in the earlier weeks that I needed an empty bladder and we could only find it before bedtime so it became very specific in the end!

Thundernonk · 06/11/2012 14:05

Yeah I wondered about the MhZ but this is 2 which seems the same as many others. I'm sure that something else makes it not as good/sensitive as you say. Have tried with full/empty bladder but not at different times of day. I'm not panicking at all, so happy to leave it for a while, just might make it feel like its real to hear something. We'll see soon enough!

Oh good Thun glad to hear you're not panicking! You really are laid back aren't you :-)

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 14:52

Bri sometimes the corpus luetal cyst that forms during pregnancy can cause some uncomfortable sensations too. I had an early u/s to rule out ectopic b/c of the one-sided dull aches that I was having. Found out that the cyst was just a bit larger than expected. Once you hit around 8-9 weeks the placenta begins to take over hormone production and (if it's the cyst that's bothering you) it should start to subside.

Round ligament pains on the other hand....those you can look forward to for the rest of the pregnancy! Not sure if you have chiropractors over there, but they are a god-sent for readjusting the pelvis so there is less pulling on the ligaments. Sometimes doing some counter-pressure or some massage on the area that's pulling can help ease the tense ligament.

I think you can rent high-grade dopplers online that are 3 MhZ.

After a lovely 3 day break from nausea, it's back in full-force today. Oh joy.

Thundernonk · 06/11/2012 14:53

Laid back or on denial?!!

Have to admit rlp is nothing compared to contractions. Wink

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 06/11/2012 15:04

but I'm ignoring the thought of them for the time being

peardrop2 · 06/11/2012 15:49

Fingers in ears!! La la la la laaaa la la

peardrop2 · 06/11/2012 17:10

Frus I signed up for Emma's diary weeks ago and I can't work out how to get my pregnancy pack? How did you do it?

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 06/11/2012 17:14

I don't know pear I just presumed they'd send me something through the post. Hmm

Blending · 06/11/2012 17:33

I got the first Bounty Pack & Emmas Diary at my booking in app?

Picked up a great tip today, a friend was here and I was saying that my normal tights are getting uncomfortable due to the bloating, but I was too small for maternity tights as I would have to keep hitching them up

So she suggested I wore extra knickers over my maternity tights to stop them slipping down insted!

Honestly it was a revelation! I dug some old thick woolley ones out and it was so comfortable!

I wish I'd know that last time when your at this tricky stage.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 06/11/2012 18:40

Are you oop north blending? never known them to give out the Emma's diary one down here, but my friend in donny got one

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 19:20

Good idea pear. Just pick up a copy of Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and read all the hippy-dippy beautiful birth stories about rushes and yonis. Met her last year, she was amazing. Love that woman!

Jojoba1986 · 06/11/2012 19:33

I love her book too trumpets! She's a little overly hippy-dippy at times for my tastes but her book gave me so much confidence in my body's ability to give birth! I think it had a lot to do with my pain & drug free homebirth! Smile

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 19:46

Haha, have you read Spiritual Midwifery yet Jo? That one is hilarious! I love that she inspired you to have the birth you want!

She is also featured in "More Business of Being Born". When she came to speak last year she said that the best preparation for labor is "To have a well-oiled sense of humour"

Jojoba1986 · 06/11/2012 20:18

Yeah, that's an... interesting book...! Wink
Definitely need a sense of humour but I discovered while being stitched up afterwards that you might think you're being funny but people don't laugh at your jokes when you're on g&a! I was thinking v carefully before saying anything & just trying to keep the mood light by announcing that I didn't like the name we picked out & wanted to call DS Benjamin instead because it would be cute to call him Benjamin Bunny as a nickname! Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 20:31

Haha! G&a just made me really serious. I was jealous to read all these funny stories about g&a silly ladies and all the fun that was to be had with the stuff! It's not allowed for labor here so boo, no g&a for me this time.

MrsBri · 06/11/2012 21:06

I never thought being pregnant would feel like this...nothing tastes right and I can't find anything I enjoy to eat or drink :-( Anybody else suffering the same way?

And my mouth tastes horrible. And things smell weird.

/stamps feet like a child!

Sorry, feeling sorry for myself tonight. :-(

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 06/11/2012 21:08

Hey bring I'm on zero g&a too. Tens is good. Last time I got to hospital and begged for my pethadine. I begged for an epidural too but the nasty midwife kept sending me to the loo until it was too late

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 06/11/2012 21:10

Just wait til you start eyeing up coal or the dogs biscuits mrs have you tried appletise, that tastes good.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 06/11/2012 21:26

I'm all hormonal and want to cry. And nothing is actually wrong. I'm just pregnant and hormonal. Anyone else?

pass the tissues.

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 21:39

It's okay frus I've been very hormonal today too! Started crying bawling at the election stuff because I really really don't want the fucking idiot Repub Romney to win! Also really hope that the amendment for same-sex couples to marry comes through in my state.

Early pregnancy sucks. I think we instinctively forget about this part because when you're in the thick of it, it makes you never want to get pregnant again.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 06/11/2012 21:51

thanks trumpet

I'm not too bad with this stage, but I will Prewarning everybody that as soon as my braxton hicks start I will become a blubbering panicking mess.

Do you have different amendments in each state then trumpet? So do they only go through if you support a certain person?

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 22:38

Yes, each state has it's own constitutional amendments (not dependent on who wins the election). This election in Minnesota we are voting on whether marriage should be between a man and woman (I voted Hell-to-the-NO!) and whether we should be required to prove our identities through photo IDs when voting in the future (another NO!).

Am I the only one having braxton-hicks already? I can totally tell when my uterus is doing a work-out. Maybe I'm just a weirdo who can feel my fundus and feel BH ctx already?

bringonthetrumpets · 06/11/2012 22:42

You like that complete topic change? Grin
