Hi all.

They made you wait for the whole appointment before letting you pee, frus?! Thats mean! My booking in was over an hour too. I loved all the questions etc.

Glad you had a good time mrs

Woke up with big headache today, so let's all talk quietly, yeah?

MrsBri · 02/11/2012 09:16

I have a headache today too, Thunder :-/

Glad I have the day off. Do have stuff to do though. Boo!

peardrop2 · 02/11/2012 09:16

MrsBri soooo what does Kate H look like in real life? Is she teeny tiny? I totally love her style, she always looks so cool!! I don't blame you for not waiting until Dec...even though its less then two pay packets away it still feels like forever!

3 working days left until scan day...longest 12 weeks ever! DH keeps telling me to stop wishing my life away Grin

Thun boo to your headache but apparently that's a good sign!!

MrsBri · 02/11/2012 09:30

She just looks normal. Lovely. :-) She was SO into it, singing and dancing along. Didn't look tiny, just right! Clearly totally bonkers about Matt. Brilliant to see. And he's clearly happy too. You can tell in his performance.

I get paid on 6th, so technically scan IS two pay days away! But yeah, 6 weeks feels like forever.

Was quite crampy at the gig and after. Nothing today. Wish my body wouldn't try to worry me! Headache and sickness probably show all is well though.

Just got a new booking in appointment. Won't be my midwife as she only does 1 and 2.30 on a Thursday. That's not limiting, is it?! So I have an appointment at the hospital on 24th at 10am.

Now to fill my green book in! :-)

peardrop2 · 02/11/2012 09:39

Green book?

Thundernonk · 02/11/2012 09:42

Kate Hudson is gorgeous indeed. Cool that she was at the gig and just having a great time!

Headache good because it shows hormones still raging?

I have my scan in 9 days. I'm pretty nervous about it really, but am definitely wishing my life away til it comes around. Feel like I may well have to accept this is all real after then, all being well.

OP posts:
MrsBri · 02/11/2012 09:44

Yeah...loads of questions about us and medical history. All very exciting. Not.

Good job I have loads of Clearblue sample pots as I have to take one with me. Must wash the chemical out that is in them though, not sure that will help the midwife!

MrsBri · 02/11/2012 09:47

It doesn't feel real, does it Thunder. I can't get to grips with what being pregnant is and means. All very odd and surreal.

I do get frustrated at DH when I'm worrying and he's all 'ah well, it's fine, it is all normal' though. Suppose his is the best approach in reality!

Thundernonk · 02/11/2012 09:57

They've given me a sample pot for my next appointment. They didn't take a sample at booking in as they wanted clean mid-stream sample which I had to after bath or shower. The future ones they want fmu which is a bit simpler at least!

I bet OHs will suddenly have their own moment of realisation at some point- probably scan. Ha!

OP posts:
MrsBri · 02/11/2012 10:06

Hmmm...wonder if I should do FMU or the one you mention? Probably do FMU based on the time of my appt! I always do mid stream though. Or try!

DH is also speculating about us having twins based on the belly I'm already sporting. He said we 'may as well' have both together! Don't worry about me lugging them about! :-/

I really hope we can have a scan a week on Sat. As I can't pay til Tuesday, I'm not sure we will get fitted in.

How you've had the willpower to not get one, Thunder, I don't know!

Thundernonk · 02/11/2012 10:12

My belly is normal sized in the morning and it grows steadily throughout the day. Have decided I don't think mine is twins despite the likelihood.

I'm still philosophical to be honest, nic. I know that having an early scan wouldnt have changed my worry before the 12 week one as I'd still know that things can happen in the meantime. So I guess I figured it better for me to wait it out and save my money. That said I totally understand wanting to have some kind of confirmation that it's all real etc earlier!

OP posts:
MrsBri · 02/11/2012 10:16

I'm really impressed by you, Thunder :-) You seem so much calmer than me! I'm naturally highly strung / anxious though, which isn't a good thing!

The entire pregnancy is a worry, I suppose, so just have to cope as well as possible.

Wondering if I should start to be productive yet. Maybe not quite!!

Thundernonk · 02/11/2012 10:21

I'm normally a bit of a worrier too, but I think that is mostly about things I have some control over. At the moment I'm just thrilled we can get pg at all! If this pg doesn't work out then that's nature's way and I'll be sad and pissed off for feeling this shit for nothing, but I still think I'll be pragmatic. Maybe it's because I'm a biologist!

I'm supposed to be working and clearly not being very productive, at least you have the excuse of being off work! Got a meeting in a min though so that'll kick me into action.

OP posts:
MrsBri · 02/11/2012 10:28

Ooh, biologist sounds far more interesting than law! :-)

Being a control freak is a bad thing for me as I have no control over this, which I struggle to cope with mentally.

And you're right about being able to get pregnant, as that's a huge thing and I'm really chuffed we can. Have to look for the positives with everything!

Thundernonk · 02/11/2012 10:32

Sounds to me like a lot less earning potential than law!

Yeah I know what you mean about the control thing. For me that's actually really liberating. Normally I have far too much to have control over and I take responsibility for too much, so it's nice this time to be forced to be out of control!

My oldest sister is coming to see my new house tonight. I have no idea how I will not tell her the news!! Why on earth did I invite her round 4 days before the scan. How am I going to resist telling her!!!! If I tell her then how can I not tell my other sister. Where is my will power Grin It's just so much nicer to tell people in real life rather then on the phone any excuse will do

peardrop2 · 02/11/2012 10:40

Nope I have to stay strong and tell on the phone next week...I can do this!!!!

MrsBri · 02/11/2012 11:13

Ha ha, Peardrop! Is this the sister with many children?

Good luck keeping your trap shut :-)

I've decided we will go down to tell my parents the Saturday after the scan. It won't look odd that we are going as we can say we are taking the Christmas presents. Just got to get to that point now!

Thundernonk · 02/11/2012 12:53

Good luck with the willpower, pear! Yeah I was wondering whether it would've been easier for her to come over after the scan and then you could've told her and showed her the picture to boot!

My mum and sister are coming to London on 23rd Nov, by which stage I'll be just on the cusp of 12 weeks. We're going to tell them then though, regardless of scan dates. It'll just be too much fun to do it in person (my family are in Ireland).

We have my DH's mum, step-dad and 15 year old brother staying this weekend. We're not telling them as we want to tell both families around the same time, but it's hard to hide the tiredness etc. from them. Had a horrible night's sleep last night and feel really queasy today so tonight's going to be hard when I get home from a full and busy day's work and then have to spend the evening with them!

Dying to get my midwife and scan dates! GP said yesterday I'd hear within the week.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 02/11/2012 15:15

Ooh I forgot to say yesterday the midwifes wheel out me ahead by 2 days. They also said the scan will date it better. Think this may well be a may baby after all.

peardrop2 · 02/11/2012 15:17

MrsB Guess what arrived in the post today!! My cow :-) or is it baby pears cow? Hmmm I'm not sure a baby cow is safe for a baby anyway so maybe it is my cow after all Grin No this is my other sister with two boys (age 5 and 3). I have 3 sisters in total.

So exciting to hear you all share when you will tell your happy news. Won't it be lovely when we can tell everyone...maybe not the postman but nearly everyone :-)

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 02/11/2012 16:05

Have I missed something with the cow pear?
I saw my patents today, I didn't tell them. Grin I knew I wouldn't I think part of me needs the scan first just to rule out there being 2 in there.
I think I might tell the postman? Hmm

MrsBri · 02/11/2012 16:33

Ooh...exciting about the cow! Isn't it cute? :-) Ours is hidden in a mug so guests don't see it.

Just had to hide all the pregnancy stuff as the heating engineer - who is Bri's best mate for the last 30 years - came to do the gas safety check. Made sure it was hidden and acted innocent when we talked about whether we wanted kids! Said we do, but not yet :-)

Won't it be great when we can all just talk about being pregnant as and when we want?

MrsBri · 02/11/2012 16:34

Oh, the cow is the Cow and Gate baby club free gift! :-)
