bringonthetrumpets · 31/10/2012 13:55

I'm not sure. I guess theoretically you could!

bringonthetrumpets · 01/11/2012 02:07

Oh dear. Looks like I've scared everyone away today Blush.

So... DSIL called DH this morning for a chat, where DH told her the news. Her immediate response was "Oh gosh! Did you plan that!?"

I cried. Not exactly the response we were looking for.

Jojoba1986 · 01/11/2012 02:57

My mum's first response was 'was it planned?' Apparently she thought we were going to wait a bit longer. No idea where she got that impression - we always said we'd wait 9 months & then 'discuss it'. DS just turned 1! I didn't think anyone would be surprised, let alone my own mother!

MrsBri · 01/11/2012 06:28

Ignore everyone's reactions. People just don't think before opening mouths.

6+5 here...the puking has started. Joy!

Thundernonk · 01/11/2012 07:09

It's funny that some people clearly have an idea in their minds what others are planning to do- they wouldn't be surprised otherwise! Don't worry bringon, just one of those 'open your mouth and put your foot straight in it' moments for your DSIL.

pear well done for surviving in-laws. Did they continue to be excited?

Oh poor you mrs I hope it's bareable for you.

I'm feeling sorry for myself this morning, after rushing to the bathroom to be sick. [henvy]

Thundernonk · 01/11/2012 09:11

frus I'm like that every other day at the mo. yesterday was good, Tues I fell out with OH due to grumpiness and was asleep in aided able heap on the sofa at 3pm when I was supposed to be working. Hoping to break the trend today.

Maybe getting out to mw might pick you up a bit. Hope appointment goes well.

Thundernonk · 01/11/2012 09:11

Aided able? Hmmm

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 01/11/2012 09:18

All appointments today are at my house. So technically don't have to get dressed at all. But I do need a shower.
Mine isn't everyday thankfully I couldn't handle that hence the anti-sickness meds but it seems once a week I forget to take them at the right time there's a dud one, and I'm thrown. I have a horrendous headache not quite a migrane yet that I can't take anything for, and that doesn't help with my get-up-and-go which has clearly left the building.

peardrop2 · 01/11/2012 10:15

Morning all. Sorry to hear that some of you have had unexpected reactions from family and friends! Thunder my MIL did say a few things to us before they left to show they were pleased, it's probably still sinking in though. It's certainly a more positive result then I was expecting as they won't very excited during our engagement.

I'm a little concerned how tired I still am leading up to week 12. I thought I was meant to get a burst of energy about now :-/ Everyday I'm just feeling like I need to go back to bed. I guess it's all the interrupted sleep that is effecting my body. Still I'm only getting up once now rather then twice in the night. Maybe my burst of energy will come in week 13!

11+2

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 01/11/2012 10:26

pear perhaps we need to hibernate for the next few months?

kittykatskumkwat · 01/11/2012 10:27

Uhhh pear I hate to shatter your illusions but I was still knackered at around wk 16-20 the peeing at night definatly eases from what I remember and I had a good few months before it slowly comes back but the tiredness definatly sticks around abit longer then that as I had to change my shifts as was falling asleep at desk by 9:30 and I remember that was after everyone knew so after 12wks, after that went though it doesn't return the same way

MrsBri · 01/11/2012 10:43

I'm not peeing at night yet. Something to look forward to! Just did the 200 yard dash to the loo to be sick too. Whilst trying to make it look like I wasn't running.

Isn't it good fun?! :-/

peardrop2 · 01/11/2012 10:57

Frus I would very much like to hibernate :-)

kitty don't worry it's nice to hear my tiredness is still normal...all the stupid books and apps say I should begin to feel human again so it is nice to hear from a real human that its ok to be still tired Wink

Nic yuk :-( not nice for you!

Oh dear. My efforts to cover belly with waterfall cardigan and skinny belt is not going well. I've just had to take belt off again. I really can't wait to parade my fat with pride soon Grin

kittykatskumkwat · 01/11/2012 11:17

Not long pear, not long!!! How exciting for the first of us to reach that 12wk milestone Grin

Lorelei353 · 01/11/2012 11:20

Good morning. Sorry to hear there's been some unexpected reactions. We still haven't told anyone yet so it's all ahead of us!

Bri we warned you to be careful what you wish for! Welcome to the symptom club.

I had my first GP appt today. All went well but suddenly felt very emotional and overwhelmed waiting to go in. It all felt very real and the waiting room was all women with small babies or big bumps. Managed to hold it together though. Nurse took all my vital stats and gave me flu jab, then Doctor had general chat and told me what hospital I'll be going to (Chelsea and Westminster - St Thomas' is much closer to me but I'm not in the right postcode and they're being very strict at the moment). So in the next week I'll get letter from hospital with midwife appt and scan date. Eeek. It's really happening now! [hshock]

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 01/11/2012 11:54

That sounds like me this morning mrs although I think I did run.

I have my booking in with midwife at 12 if she's on time but I'm desperate for a wee. Is she likely to want a sample? Don't want to risk going then not being able to give her a sample. Eek. As long as she's not late I may survive and not wee myself.

pear I've decided that waterfall cardi doesn't help and actually accentuates bump. i could just be huge big thick stretchy belt with long jumper accentuates flab and distracts from bump. why this is good i'm not sure but I can't wait 'til I can stop holding my belly in.

Thundernonk · 01/11/2012 12:06

Very exciting all these appointments. It's really nice when things start moving forward like that- makes it all feel more real or is it only me that still thinks this might all just be a wind up and I'll be told at my scan that I've just got 'wind' or sonething and the rest of the pg is just in my head...?

I have discovered the solution to tastes of nothing decaff tea... Let it stew brew for ages! Actually gets some flavour then. have also discovered becks blue Wink

pear I'm the same as you re tiredness. It's crippling isn't it?!

OP posts:
Lorelei353 · 01/11/2012 12:12

Frus I was the same - dying to wee! I was told I will give a sample at every single appt, so hang in there and be ready to go!

Good luck with it. x

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 01/11/2012 12:14

You're not alone thunder I'm still imagining it. Midwife still by here and I'm seriously going to wee myself.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 01/11/2012 12:23

Would it be rude to answer the door with "do you need a wee sample cause I'm gonna wet meself" Grin I keep jumping up to look out the window every time I hear a car. it's not making her turn up any quicker

MrsBri · 01/11/2012 12:29

Can't you piss into something and just decant if needed?!

Really want some kind of savoury snack. Or shit loads of sandwiches.

So, constipation and sore boobs gone for now, replaced by sickness and cravings. Hopefully not a dip in progesterone to be concerned with.

Wish I could get past the concern.

Oh, and I am tired a bit, but not exhausted. I'm sure that will come though.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 01/11/2012 12:37

You don't want the exhaustion mrs i look (and feel) like the walking dead the boob pain comes and goes, mine only hurt when I poke them, which isn't that often these days. I do think that weeks 4-12 have the main symptom of paranoia and thinking its just wind. Grin
I have some Pringles if you want them. And a yummy ham joint. Hmm ham joint and Pringles.

Lorelei353 · 01/11/2012 12:40

Savoury snacks are definitely my way of keeping nausea at bay. Had some bacon crispie things from M&S the other day and they were great. Just had a croissant which also did wonders (for a short time).

Frus I was like you - I went into see nurse before GP and wanted to blurt out 'you need me to pee now, yes?'. Was so happy when I was dispatched to give sample!

MrsBri · 01/11/2012 12:44

Hmmm...Pringles and ham?! Yes please :-)

Feeling decidedly odd right now. Sure it'll pass though.

Suppose they kind of hurt if poked in the right place, but my pain has mostly been based around touch / poke!

I'm not looking forward to holding wee for samples. Need a bladder of steel!
