I've been trying to eat a piece of cheese (for protein) every couple of hrs in work without anyone noticing! Luckily it's one of the few things I can still face.

I still don't have much of an appetite (unlike pre-pregnancy!). I'm forcing myself to eat regularly for the sake of the baby. I'm ok with fruit, but I couldn't eat the wrap I'd taken in for lunch.

peardrop2 · 24/10/2012 21:13

Will cheese wotsits do? I might go and make myself a snack now. I'm hungry after dinner...how is that possible!!

MrsBri · 24/10/2012 22:30

My hunger has faded now. Maybe all the cola bottles I ate while dinner was cooking. :-)

Tummy ache a bit...slight constipation not assisting.

Cheese wotsits sound good though!

Jojoba1986 · 24/10/2012 23:52

I'm so jealous of all the things you're all eating! My current diet consists of a choc milkshake for breakfast, a few sips of 7up & a kitkat during the day & picking at bits of whatever my DH cooks in the evening! I have no energy to find food for myself during the day. I get dizzy & faint enough just finding lunch for DS!

I'm miserable & beginning to get concerned that my depression is coming back. Seeing midwife on Monday so hopefully we can get something sorted then! Smile

bringonthetrumpets · 25/10/2012 00:37

Yeah, Bri the cal/mag will definitely help with the restless legs (and the constipation you speak of!). Taking a hot epsom salt bath right before bed can help sometimes too. But if it's every night-then taking it internally might be more beneficial.

Headaches can be a sign of low blood sugars or dehydration. Sometimes it's just hormones too. I had a horrific one yesterday and refused to budge no matter what I did. Epsom salt bath and early bed seemed to work as it's gone today.

It is crazy how different everyone is in pregnancy! I always marvel on that fact during prenatal visits with mamas.

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 07:03

Thank you, trumpets :-) I'll look into buying some cal / mag tablets, I think. Anything to help!

Can't have a bath, sadly, as there isn't one in the flat, so that rules that out!

Are you a community midwife or a hospital based one doing community? My best friend is a midwife and one of only 2 people I've told. I get nice and sane advice from her :-)

I think going back to work may have alleviated the constipation. I eat more fruit and drink more water at work, which helps! Seems to have, um, moved things along somewhat!! My legs weren't as bad last night either.

Fx we all avoid headaches today :-) I calculated I drank 4 litres of fluid yesterday. Is that OK or should it be more?

kittykatskumkwat · 25/10/2012 07:23

I'm finding I can't eat as much in portions but first thing in the morning I am ravenous and can hardly wait to eat breckie at 7!
I felt crappy and a bad mother yesterday as my patience is just worn thin, I seem to have snapped at dd alot recently when I've never lost my temper before she is being a shit though I don't know if it's tiredness or hormones but I'm tired of it now, really need to make an effort not to be like this as she doesn't deserve it Sad

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 07:33

Awww, kitty, I'm sure you're not being as bad as you think. I hope you start to feel better soon.

peardrop2 · 25/10/2012 08:01

Horrah I only got up once at 1:30am and managed to go back to sleep. I actually feel more human today TG!!

JoJo I hope you get the support you need from your midwife. In the meantime you can moan here as much as you like if it helps :-)

kitty I'm sure DD is just testing your patience more then ever because she can sense that your armour is a little weak :-) Don't worry you'll get through it! 12 weeks is at the end of the tunnel or whenever we're meant to be feeling less tired etc Grin

MrsBri super Envy of your water intake!! I can only drink 5 glasses at work otherwise I'm in the loo more then at my desk :-) I really need to up my intake of fruit this week because I am really struggling again!

I have my second mw appt today. Please please please let the nurse take two sets of blood without any issues!! FX!!!!

10+3

kittykatskumkwat · 25/10/2012 08:21

Thanks pear and Nic, I have been short with her but she's so headstrong at the minute it frustrating and at 13 months you can't reason with them or explain, it's the food that's doing my head in, she'll love fish one day the next she spitting it out pretending to vomit and throwing it on the floor, it was rasberrys last night so I showed her her petit filou ( her dream food) and wouldn't let her have it till she ate a raspberry ( another food she likes but not yesterday) this resulted in screams until I refused to let her have it, battle of wills after I felt really bad but I'm so tired and hate this new scream she's developed!
Hope the midwife app goes well pear and the blood is quick and painless!
Last time my tiredness lasted till atleast 20wks, going worse after the first tri, I remember because I was working shifts and had to ask to finish at 8 and start earlier as I couldn't go til 10 then drive home etc Sad

peardrop2 · 25/10/2012 08:28

Oh kitty you shatter my first time pregnancy dreams Grin I am gullible and believe very much hope that the 2nd trimester brings lots of good things including sleep, clear skin, less constipation and a shiney full head of hair...oh and a cute neat bump! Something tells me I'm in for a Shock

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 08:30

Good luck today, Peardrop...I swear your dates move faster than mine though.

Crampy all day yesterday. No cramps today. Both worry me! My MW friend is currently being supportive but stern via text, which I need :-)

I don't do too bad with fluid intake. Forgot my fruit tea bag today though. Boo!

peardrop2 · 25/10/2012 08:42

Thanks ladies!

MrsBri I feel like you've suddenly skipped ahead as I swear it was only yesterday that you because preggers! You're 5+ already!

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 08:47

I'm 5+5 today...found out 2 weeks ago! Not going fast for me. As yours isn't for you!

kittykatskumkwat · 25/10/2012 09:05

Pear don't worry on the whole the second tri is the best, at 20 wks I was sleeping well, looked good had lovely thick hair etc, it's definatly a good time it's just more like mid way through then 13wks Wink

kittykatskumkwat · 25/10/2012 09:07

Oh but you may get some unwelcome surprises such as weeing a little if you sneeze etc, I though it was childbirth that did things like that but no it was pregnancy, shocked to say the least!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 25/10/2012 09:10

Start on your pelvic floor exercises now mrsbri

Lorelei353 · 25/10/2012 10:00

Oh god. The dreaded headcold is hitting me. I can feel it. It's been working my way around my office and this morning I had a sore throat and a bit of a cold.

Mad thing is, with the general queasiness and the fact that I didn't sleep well last night, I'm finding it hard to tell what's wrong with me. Just feel shit. Gonna be a long day at work (if i last - I might go home sick later).

I've generally not been as nauseous the last few days but tiredness is worse. My DH thinks I'm mental but it's hard to explain how that fatigue wall just hits you!

I'm like you pear. I need to believe that at 12-13 weeks all this will just magically go away! [hsmile]. Hope your appt. goes well. Can't wait for my first (this day next week).

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 12:13

Oh god...my cramps are back again :-( Nobody told me it was permanently like being about to come on! My midwife friend had reassured me though, thank god. Knicker watch continues!

No headache though, yet.

How did it go, Pear?

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 12:15

Fx you feel better soon too, Lorilei.

Lorelei353 · 25/10/2012 12:33

Thanks bri. Think I'm going to go home from work actually. I don't want to be loading up on paracetamol, which is what I'd usually do if I feel unwell.

I'm sure the cramps are nothing. As your friend says, it's normal. I feel occasional tugging pains and cramps but nothing's come of it. Also got it last night in bed turning over so I've joined that club now too!

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 12:47

Ooh...careful as you go turning over. It's a bugger when that gets you. I moved my feet under my desk yesterday and it got me then. :-/

I only seem to cramp at work. Could my chair / posture cause that do you think?

bringonthetrumpets · 25/10/2012 16:27

I'm a community midwife, Bri. In the states there are CPMs who do homebirth or birth center births and then CNMs who practice in the hospital. I'm studying to be a CPM :)

4 litres is great! Keep up the hydration.

Cramps are a good thing, means everything is stretching and growing! As long as they aren't super painful and aren't accompanied with bleeding you are good to grow!

MrsBri · 25/10/2012 16:55

Good luck :-) Fantastic vocation.

And not REALLY painful. Uncomfortable, yes...mild period pain type. And no bleeding. Very farty / burpy / hiccuppy still too. So lady like!

peardrop2 · 25/10/2012 18:00

How's everyone doing this afternoon/evening?

I had my nurse and midwife appointment at lunchtime. The nurse was so lovely about my bloods. She got me to lie down and took two lots within seconds and had no problems! She did say that she used a fine needle though as my veins are thin but she didn't have any trouble at all. I had a lovely chat with her and she even told me about a good local breastfeeding cafe so it was worth seeing her just for that even though the thought of whipping my boobs out in public scares the life out of me. Sadly I can't say the same about my midwife. I'm not fond of her at all :-/ She didn't even ask me how I was feeling today and I had to keep telling her things on my own accord. I really wanted some help with the constipation and all she suggested was to go and see my doctor. I'm totally baffled as I thought she would be the one helping me with this. Anyway I won't be seeing her again until December so that's quite a while away. Apparently my bloods go off the hospital and then that helps them decide the risk of Down syndrome along with that neck measurement thingy. I'll be told the odds at the scan which I'm pleased about as I thought they sent out a letter with the results.
