Hi wifey6

unfortunately a number of us have been in your position so we understand your mixture of emotions (happy & scared).

my first pregnancy ended in MC at 8 weeks so am now paranoid about this one - but as the Dr said - all pregnancies are different so there is no reason why you shouldn't fly through this one, especially as you have a lovely DS.

although i worry about every twinge, feeling etc.

hope everyone has a relaxing weekend

wifey6 · 02/11/2012 14:34

Thank you Quin. So sorry for your loss Sad
..is it normal not to have the happy/excited feeling yet? I don't feel I can yet.

Carman1 · 02/11/2012 14:34

Hi all!

Did the test the other day and I'm 3+ weeks pregnant! Still in shock I'm 37 and the bf is 47.....

Quinandthem · 02/11/2012 14:39

my MC was in Feb and we've been ttc since then so i think most of our happiness is that we actually manages to get pregnant.

i think that fact that yours was at 13wks might make it more difficult, mine still didn't feel really 'real' as we hadn't had any scans and i didn't have many symptoms.

could you pay for a private 8wk scan. that what i'm planning on doing is the MW scans are not till 12 weeks.

Quinandthem · 02/11/2012 14:39

congrats carman & wifey

Carman1 · 02/11/2012 14:48

Hi all.. Just discovered I'm 3+ weeks pregnant. It will be my first and I know nothing about babies only horse ones ROFL....

Carman1 · 02/11/2012 14:49

Whoops! double post.. Thanks Quinandthem

Calmisthemantra · 02/11/2012 15:09

Welcome to the bus newbies Smile Fingers crossed for all of us

wifey6 · 02/11/2012 15:25

I an considering doing that Quin...about 8-9 weeks. Just to settle my mind. I had no indication last time anything was wrong ...Sad
Last pregnancy I didn't get a BFP til the day before AF was due & this time I got it at 8-9dpo. Hoping that's a good, strong sign.
Wishing everyone so much luck & happiness.

elliejjtiny · 02/11/2012 15:53

Did another test yesterday and a really dark line came up straight away, darker than the control line which has never happened to me before. Not sure whether to be reassured that the line is a lot darker than last time or panic that it might be twins Grin.

wifey6 I had a mmc at 13 weeks last year so I understand how scared you must feel. No reassurance scans on the nhs here either. I'm torn between wanting an early scan and not. My baby died at 9 weeks so I don't think a scan at 7-8 weeks would reassure me much anyway. I'm wondering whether to ask the midwife to try and get me a dating scan at 10-11 weeks rather than the 13-14 weeks they usually do in my area or whether to just stick my head in the sand and hope for the best. Last time I had a feeling something wasn't right but I'm not sure this time.

wifey6 · 02/11/2012 16:02

ellie...so sorry for your loss Sad
Congrats on your BFP Smile
I must admit..I had a feeling something wasn't 'right' but after seeing our baby's heartbeat..my fears were settled. Sad
That sounds like a good idea to try & get yourself an earlier dating scan. I think I will persist that I need to have an earlier scan..about 9+ weeks.
I wish our pregnancies weren't tainted with the lack of innocence. Sad Wish I had the naivety I had my with DS' pregnancy
But...just trying to think positive as I have to give this little baby as much hope as I did my DS & my lost baby x

Cutandstick · 02/11/2012 17:00

Hai1998 laculose is just over the counter at the chemist. I have a recipe for some very 'fibrous' chocolate chip cookies if you'd like it, sorted me out Blush , and I gave it to a friend a few years ago, and it was the only thing that worked for her including buckets of prune juice! -and they're tasty. I won't say how many I've eaten in the last 24 hours - but safe to say i feel a LOT better! Grin

Hai1988 · 02/11/2012 17:36

Yeah wud.love the recipe for them thank you cutandstick

OhGood · 02/11/2012 18:57

Hi to Carman and wifey - and congrats to everyone.

wifey I had a very early mc last time round, and so am also feeling very cautious, and so understand a little of what you are feeling - though because my mc was so early, it was nowhere as hard as for you. I got some good advice and support on the miscarriage boards, so keep that in mind.

carman I have just been made godmother to my friend's foal... and I am also 37. Well, feel 90.

I have been running around after DD all day and I am sooooooooooooooooo tired. And I would really love a glass of wine. It's Friday. Feels all wrong.

Anyone having symptoms?

Bessie123 · 02/11/2012 19:02

Lactulose is properly disgusting

Babylonmoo · 02/11/2012 19:52

Hi,may I join? I am 4 weeks pregnant. I am due in July. I am in shock- this was our first month of trying. I was bracing myself for months of failure and disappointment (wont go into why). I cant quite believe it is real!

tasfi26 · 02/11/2012 20:18

I wanna join!!! according to the net i'll be due july 4th. Like a lot of you my boobs are soooo sore. the amount of times iv screamed at DH "don't touch my boobs" in the past week is unbelievable.

This is my first full term pregnancy as I lost another 6 years ago when I was 6 months pg to a neural tube defect. Absolutely petrified of it happening again. Don't think I can possibly wait for a scan...still cant believe Ive got to wait 5 more weeks for my first midwife appointment!!

Thinkingof4 · 02/11/2012 20:41

wifey6 sorry about your MMC I had a very early one a few years ago after ds1, and have since had another 2 babies without problems. But I totally get what you mean about losing the innocence of your first pregnancy, it's hard to relax, but for me getting past the various milestones really helps eg 12 week scan, detailed scan, 24 weeks etc, etc. And you may find having another wee one to keep you busy means you have less time to worry during this pregnancy.
My pregnancy with ds3 was in many ways my easiest as I was so busy it just flew past!

Well I definitely had some sustained nausea this morning so I'm feeling quite pleased about that! Plus undoubtedly running to the loo twice as much as normal. I think I am about 5 weeks so v pleased to be getting some early symptoms

How is everyone? Yaay for the weekend, I'm soooo tired!

Thinkingof4 · 02/11/2012 20:44

Hi tasfi sorry xpost. Sorry about losing your last baby so late that must have been vv hard. Sad
congrats on this one, we have the same due date! My boobs haven't changed at all but they are still in use by ds3 who still has one feed in morning so I think that is why

Calmisthemantra · 02/11/2012 20:54

My boobs are killing me. They feel like 2 separate entities. Good sign I guess though! Waves of nausea - either feel sick or starving Smile

How's everyone else getting on?

esme80 · 02/11/2012 21:05

So sorry to hear that tasfi. my SIL lost a baby at almost 6 months a few years ago, which was heartbreaking, but has since then gone on to have a healthy DD.

Calm that is exactly how I feel, nausea mixed with hunger. Am going to be the size of a house before long...

Am also thinking of having a private scan at around 8 weeks, think they do dating scan btwn 11-12 weeks here, seem to remember I had it at 12 weeks w DS.

emblosion · 02/11/2012 21:28

Hai am sorry I only just logged back on, yes you can buy lactulose over the counter, I think its grim tasting but anything is worth a try, right?

V sorry to those who have had losses, a friend of mine had a v traumatic mmc just before I got pregnant with ds & I was v anxious all through that pregnancy. This time I'm trying to relax as much as I can as last time I tortured myself for the first few weeks. I'm trying to be Zen and just think what will be will be (easier said than done).

I've had some nausea today, funny as I didn't really get that with ds. No other symptoms though except being a bit tired, par for the course with a 5 month old!

Oh, and the constant needing to wee has already begun!

Oops meant also to say congrats to everyone! Blush

CottonSock · 03/11/2012 09:42

Hi everyone and welcome Newbies. Hope you are all enjoying the start to the weekend. I got engaged in tunisa. hope you are having a nice holiday and try not to worry too much HannahJayne

Had a bit of a shock when my midwife rang yesterday as she had picked up my booking in form from the GP. Well, I ended up in a right rant about the horrible locum GP and not being offered early scans and generally having a bit of a melt down. Opps it was a bad day yesterday Blush. She was really nice and said she would actually complain about the locum GP I saw to the practice. Also, she said off the record if I want an early scan just ring up with 'spotting' and no one would ever know. I was aware I could try that, but was suprised she suggested it! Anyway during my melt down, I said that I have such bad memories of the EPU, it's almost enough to make me want to go private as I so badly want the result to be different in my head somehow I just don't want to go back there.

DH got home just after the phone call ended so see me ina blubbering mess. Tentitively asked if I had booked the scan yet and lots of other things to cheer me up with me biting his head off. (Like - where shall we go on holiday next year, Me - well it depends if we have a baby or not!!!). Poor DH, has now Main problem was having a very quiet week at work. Next two weeks are crazy busy so that should sort me out a bit.

It is really striking how many people on this thread have experienced losses and does illustrate how common it actually and how little talked about.
