Isitme1 Thanks; I won't really start to relax and enjoy this one until its safely into the 2nd trimester though. Between my mother, sister and I we've racked up 21 mcs and 10 live births, and I'm not getting any younger - I'll be 40 next month. Just let me get to 13 weeks and I'll be happy. Smile Most of the signs are positive so far but it's all too easy to get paranoid - even without that kind of background! Still, life is less stressful than it was 5 years ago, so fingers crossed it stays that way!

Runswithsquirrels · 17/11/2012 14:51

I got my booking in/first scan appointment letter this morning - 28th December! Won't be giving a scan picture to my parents for Christmas then! I'll be thirteen weeks then so it seems an awfully long time to wait!
Went out briefly earlier and fatigue has driven me back to bed -yawn! That and my bladder is competing with itself at night to see if it can break it's own Guiness record for most visits to the bathroom in one night. Hope everyone else is doing well.

efme · 17/11/2012 15:37

Hi - can I join? Due on 9th July. First time so very scared. Don't want to tell my family but my SIL is also pregnant and due around the same time! They have already told everyone. It's strange - feels like I'm lying to my family by not telling them, but so many people I know have had so many problems that I just don't want to start spreading the news until things are further down the line.

DH is trying to help by telling me to stop thinking about it ... not possible! I can't think about anything else!

orangebubbles · 17/11/2012 16:07

I am so exhausted, managed to nap for half an hour when DD did. Woke up this morning giddy as hell with waves of nausea so good signs. 5+0 today! That week felt like an eternity!

mrswilder don't read too much into your boobs, mine were sore on and off throughout the entirety of my 1st tri with DD.

Congrat's and welcome newbies.

Now on to way more important stuff than symptoms and pregnancy shenanigans, who are you wanting to win x-factor?

Isitme1 · 17/11/2012 17:25

Sorry esme about the late reply im forgetting everything these days
All day ive managed a cuppa with biscuits for breakfast, kiddies jelly for dinner and I had some crisps with ds...
Its take away night here but don't think I will manage some tea.

Akardy I cant wait to get past 12 weeks either! Ive got kidney problems so need to see gp on Monday regarding meds, pcos, had spd with ds and because of the kidney problems ive been told Ive got risk of pre eclampsia. ... as you can imagine quite scared but excited.

X

OhGood · 17/11/2012 18:02

Hi all - and congrats and welcome newbies!

Arkady I Grin at the fried egg sandwich. I think I am craving red wine...

I have gone off tea! Massive disaster. I keep buying fruit teas that I think look nice and then having to hurl them into the back of the cupboard when they make me retch. I cannot get through winter without hot drinks! Help, what are you all drinking?

Also, is anyone else feeling tearful? I am very down, and arguing with DH, which doesn't help. He was made redundant, I am starting this horrible stressful job with a 5-hour commute on Monday. Dreading it. But I think I am just pregnancy depressed. Got this with DD, too.

Calmisthemantra · 17/11/2012 18:14

Hope we are all tootling along nicelyWink

I'm 6+1 and feeling a little but queasy at times (and sore boobs when I prod them) a but tired. I know each pregnancy is different but my 1st one I was puking constantly, could hardly move as my boobs were so sore and getting off the sofa to pee was so bone crushingly tiring.

Poas again and a really strong line - very almost as dark as the control. Trying to relax and ignore it.

Very tempted to get an early scan, I didn't with my 1st but would love to tell family at Christmas. How much are they?

Grannyapple · 17/11/2012 18:28

calm I booked one today with a company called babybond...it's an early scan I'm having as I think my 13 wk scan won't become before mid-late January. They are nationwide & I used them before with ds & found them to be really good (had a 4 d scan with them as well). Mines is costing £99-you pay a £30 deposit & then balance on day of the scan (or before). Quite handy too cos they do w/e appts so don't need to necessarily take time out of work..

Grannyapple · 17/11/2012 18:33

Ps ohgood don't what I'd do if I couldn't drink tea!! I find that if I do take fruit teas then a wee squirt of honey helps make it taste better. Tho I do like a good mint or peppermint tea on its own (ie no honey).

CottonSock · 17/11/2012 20:13

I am totally off my normal herbal teas too!!! Think I am going to get some nice cordials you can drink hot. Hot apple juice is really lush.
Have horrible taste in mouth and only relief is when eating.. woops. pounds are piling on.

Can't belive the drinking pressures for the work dos. I think I might end up being quite rude if in that situation.

ArkadyRose · 17/11/2012 20:18

calm I had an early viability scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley St at 7w with D3 - they charge £100. From what I can tell that seems to be pretty much the going rate everywhere. If I had a hundred quid to spare right now I'd be tempted again.

orangebubbles · 17/11/2012 20:29

Anyone kent based I was recommended this place and it's only £50 for a viability scan Smile Got mine booked. I was also recommended the London FMC.

Grannyapple · 17/11/2012 20:45

Ooh orange I live in SE London/Kent borders. I saw that place mentioned on the pregnancy board but didn't know where it was tbh. But looks fine...if I'd realised it was that cheap I'd have gone there, but decided to go back to place where I went before.

There's a few nice places in west malling to eat too so could've made a day of it & had a nice lunch there too (dh used to work in kings hill so we found lots of nice places to eat during then!).
When is ur scan booked for?

elliejjtiny · 17/11/2012 20:55

I drank a lot of hot ribena in one of my pregnancies but this time I'm mostly drinking hot robinsons pink grapefruit squash.

Cutandstick · 17/11/2012 20:56

Hi all,
I had a scan this week, all arranged pre- conception because of dodgy ovaries, and there it was!! Heart beat, in the right place and all amazing things! Have put myself as 2nd July, but apparently I'm a couple of days further on than I thought, so may end up being a June date - I hope I can stay here though! Take care everyone! X

ah that's a shame Granny. Mine is booked for morning of the 7th Dec. Eeeek! Can you recommend somewhere child friendly for lunch? I don't know the area at all but as my mum will be with me might as well go on for a bite to eat.

Grannyapple · 17/11/2012 21:20

Ooh makenzies is quite child friendly...is a cafe/brasserie type idea...does nice pasta & pizza (i love their macaroni!) as well as s'wiches & jacket potatoes eye. The swan on mill st (i think?) is a nice posh-ish gastropub but you need to book in advance there (set menus are good value there). There is also a nice pub called the farmhouse...local produce etc(Kent sausages etc)...been there with ds for Sunday lunch before and they were good with ds. These are all on west malling high st.

DH has just informed me that there is also a mackenzies in kings hill itself (near liberty sq)...he says it was never as good as the one in the high st but its been a while. Theres a pub called the spitfire pub (shepherd neame pub) in kings hill too...they'll prob cater for kids too but it's been a while since we've been to kings hill itself...tend to just go to west malling itself these days..

Just realised I probably ought to add myself to the list:

Sorry for the story...& to everyone else...I prob should've pm'd you the info Grin

orangebubbles · 17/11/2012 21:54

Smile thanks Granny makes me want to eat something scrummy right now!

Guavasforbreakfast · 17/11/2012 22:06

Woohoo brushing my teeth has made me gag twice today... Sure I won't be so happy about it after a few weeks though Grin
Wondering whether to book a private early scan or wait and see what the midwife says at my appointment on the 30th... Is there often a long waiting list for scans? Would really like to have one before Xmas as that's when we're telling dp's parents.

Isitme1 · 17/11/2012 22:14

Ooo well done guava!!!
Next symptom here is feeling like Jordan lol. Boobs just seemed to have grown.

X

MrsWildermac · 17/11/2012 22:24

Whoever would have thought that we'd all be so excited about feeling a bit sick?!

Was worried about lack of symptoms earlier, but came in from a couple of hours of shopping and thought i'd have a 20min nap - woke up 2 hours later! V much looking forward to my bed now too!

elliejjtiny - I love hot ribena, so going to start drinking that instead of tea - though don't mind the decaf tea really.

In a bit of a quandry - just been offered a new job...do i accept it now knowing that I am pg, and doubt i'll go back to work after maternity leave if all goes well, or do I stay where I am, which will only be part time due to reorganisation of service, whereas the other one is full time?

marimama · 18/11/2012 02:04

Can i join here? Just got my bfp this a.m.!! I have a 2.5 yr old son & we're ready (i think!) to give him a sibling! Wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly, so in a bit of shock, but it's a good thing. :) at the moment just trying to adjust to idea that lovely case of wine just bought will not be enjoyed by me. Grin due date 7.27 i think.

RacquelWelsh · 18/11/2012 07:02

Hello everyone, congratulations to you all. I've added myself to the list. Am geriatric (!) at 41 and have a 2.5 year old son. He prompted me to do a pregnancy test because he kept saying to me "what's in your tummy mummy?" and putting his hands up my top to "touch mummy's belly"... Weird.

For those with little or no symptoms, both times I have had no obvious indication of being pregnant until I was about 4 months (and got a bump) apart from being hungry occasionally within a couple of hours of eating. When I had my first scan with my son, I'd convinced myself I'd imagined everything and was prepared for the worst. All was well and he's a healthy boisterous, never, ever sits still for 5 minutes, toddler. I'm due on my DH's birthday Smile.

Good luck to us all, my 12 week scan is on Christmas Eve!
