New thread here ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 22/10/2012 10:25

I wouldn't worry pidj I looked small with dd and she was 8lb some people just don't get massive, that's not to say its not just as much of an effort to lug said bump about Wink the mw would say if she was worried. My friend is less than two weeks ahead of me and twice the size yet people always comment on how big I am, apart from the ones who say I'm quite small Wink

FriendofDorothy · 22/10/2012 10:35

Small? I wish. I look and feel fucking enormous!

Secondsop · 22/10/2012 11:03

I'm enormous. And carrying all at the front. It's killing my back. I thought that as I was big to begin with the bump would perhaps sit across my girth a bit more but there's no sideways spread at all. Although when I went to the pharmacy the other day the woman behind the counter looked at me when she saw I'd ticked the maternity exemption box and said "oh yes there's a little bump there. And a bit of fat?". Cheeky mare! Ok there is fat on my body but the bump is all bump. And it's far from little as I was measuring 35 weeks at that point. Admittedly I was wearing a dress that didn't particularly show it off though.

A tough day today - decided to work from home as I've not been feeling well but it's not going well - I just threw up. Has anyone else found some nausea to be returning?

Re husbands and drinking - mine isn't a big "everyday" drinker anyway so I hadn't even thought of this, but I imagine that from about 36 weeks onwards I might ask him to forgo his (very occasional) evening drink just in case, given that I need him to drive me to the hospital.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 22/10/2012 11:07

I was expecting to waddle by now, think my mum's jealous - she was massive with me!

ellliebelle · 22/10/2012 11:13

hi ladies i have been awol for about 4 days dont think i have any chance of catching up so sorry if ive missed anything important. im 31 weeks today cant believe it :) we went to a homebirth group last week which was fab and has really reassured dh about it all. it was very informative and the midwife running it was very pro homebirth :) i also found out that they can provide me with a birthing pool which is fab

ive just found that lansinoh is reduced in boots at the minute if anyone is after any lansinoh

SpottyTeacakes · 22/10/2012 11:14

Pushchair has been delivered GrinGrinGrin now to put it together.....

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 22/10/2012 11:16

Have fun with pushchair spotty!

MyDaydream · 22/10/2012 11:38

Stacey hope your DD enjoys her birthday, huge fudge cake sounds good to me.
I feel huge until I see someone closer to their due date and then I start to worry how much I've still got to grow. Baby seems to have moved and I'm a lot more comfortable now, bump is much softer than over the weekend.
Have fun putting your pram together Spotty, very jealous mine isn't coming for ages yet but I just want a play with it and push it around.

SpottyTeacakes · 22/10/2012 11:43

Well the booklet says the seat is from six months but online everywhere says from birth Hmm

Secondsop · 22/10/2012 11:44

I am so jealous of the chocolate fudge cake eaters. Finally caught up with Great British Bake Off yesterday and OMG John's final cake - I could practically taste the chocolate because I wanted some so badly. That was the low point of my gestational diabetes, for sure.

MyDaydream · 22/10/2012 12:05

Spotty can you find any reviews to see when people started using the seat from? Is the booklet only saying 6 months because there's another part you can buy that costs 6 million pounds that they advise from birth-6 because they know people will buy it when really your seat is just fine? (I'm onto you baby industry)
Seconds I was in hormonal pregnant lady tears at the final, as soon as James dropped his cake I was off!
I've just had my shopping delivered and everything is mini! I wasn't really paying attention to sizes and weights and everything is tiny! DP is not going to be happy when presented with mini burritos.

SpottyTeacakes · 22/10/2012 12:37

Everything online said from birth. You can get a carry cot so I suppose that's it?! It goes flat though and I've got the coat toes Smile it's a bit stiff ATM which is a pain....will have to get dp to spend a few hours putting it up and down Wink

Sorry to those feeling crap Sad I've been a bit mean to dd today because I've been busy trying to get on with things and she really doesn't help Blush

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 22/10/2012 12:40

second it is huge, I could probably courier some over but I think it may have a rather large impact on your sugar levels.

Annoyed I have to wait until after dinner for fudge cake though! Lol I'm such a mean mummy! Oh I must find out candles for this cake, I wonder where I put them?!

I'm sure I had a babies arm pressed up against my tummy, me and DH were feeling round it for ages and it seemed attatched to a shoulder. Hmm can't wait for my next midwives appointment so I can find out what bit of baby is where (hopefully it won't be the old bag I had last time who wouldn't tell me! Lol

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 22/10/2012 12:43

spotty as long as it lays flat and you strap LO in then it will be fine from birth IMO.

I have a huge thing about babies being flat and won't use a car seat on pushchair frame for that reason (I don't judge others just personally can't do it) but if it goes flat then that's fine. As I say peob best to strap in if it's not a carrycot though otherwise baby might wiggle out the end (I think I might have slight paranoia, that sounds soooo over the top nor I've written it down! Lol)

WeeJo08 · 22/10/2012 12:51

With you on the hormonal pregnant lady behaviour - I made an apple crumble yesterday and we were sitting down to have it while Downton was on, DH served it up with some ice cream and I immediately asked if I could have cream too (greedy..me?!) He replied, "You don't need cream and ice cream, do you?" So naturally I then BURST into tears for the next 20 minutes.

SpottyTeacakes · 22/10/2012 13:06

Stacey I think it should be fine, I would always use the strap and the end bit folds up to make it look bassinet like anyway Smile

emilyeggs · 22/10/2012 13:38

Ooo! Sounds like a good pram spotty, I've had mine for a while now do good and use to it (came very close to putting a bonnet on the cat and pushing him around) Grin. I'm starting my hospital bag today. One managed so far:-
Large towel
Pack of mat pads
Breast pads
Flannel
Make up/toiletries
2 new born long sleeve vests
2 new born baby grows
8 nappies (4 size one huggies 4 size one pampers)
Pampers sensitive wipes (apparently cotten wool won't get off meconium!)
Hat
Gloves
Cardigan
Pram suit
Blanket
Little pot of sudo cream (don't know if I need that but it's tint from bounty pack so not taking up space)
Nappy sacks

Just need stuff for me......big knickers and pj's for after (I'm guessing I'll be in a gown/naked most of the time)

emilyeggs · 22/10/2012 13:39

And two muslin cloths

Secondsop · 22/10/2012 13:44

stacey I got a carrycot (eBay bargain from yesterday that i'm still delighted about) for the quinny buzz we are being lent because I too would prefer the baby to lie flat when we're taking him out and about for any length of time, plus I thought the carrycot would be a good thing for (eg) if we visit people and he wants to have a little sleep.

The cat is sniffing suspiciously round all the new baby things. The poor dude isn't going to know what's hit him.

I miss puddings. I make a wicked apple crumble. Prob best that I don't have it at the moment in any event though as I do like to add in lashings of spiced rum.

pmgkt · 22/10/2012 13:52

All this talk of hospital bags is making it sound quite close. I know I'm the end of the month so only 30 weeks, but that means down to single figures so maybe I should think about it. I actually disagree with my due date, only by a week but that makes me 3rd of Jan plus ds1 was induced at 2 weeks overdue so in my head I have ages left. That said I have everything so if it did come it would be fine but I would be living in a hospital gown and baby would be in his birthday suit!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 22/10/2012 13:54

Lurking and reading....too tired to type any more....mmmmm rum....

emilyeggs · 22/10/2012 14:09

pmgkt I'm only 30 weeks also but bored! That's why ive not packed it completely, have not put in pram suit and second babygrow as I don't want them to get crumpled. I'll properly re do it in about five weeks time Grin

kate2boysandabump · 22/10/2012 14:35

Stacey I agree about car seats and babies lying flat. We've got a carry cot for our pram and I don't think the car seat will be moved out of the cat at all. Partly as I'm too lazy to unstrap it every time, it's easier to just scoop up the baby.
Happy Birthday to your dd, enjoy the cake!

Spotty Have fun with your pushchair.

Seconds What a great bargain you got. I'm a big fan of carrycots.

Pidg I wouldn't worry unless the midwife is, I measured just right for dates and my boys were healthy weights at birth. After I'd had ds1 the midwife said I must have very squashy internal organs Confused

I was in the 3am club, last night I was woken up by heartburn, as opposed to the night before when it woke me up. I can't win. Feel very short on sleep at the moment and I have to drive to Manchester tomorrow to take the ds's to their grandparents. May have a little nap this afternoon. Have to collect ds1 first though, he's been climbing with the cubs.

I took ds2 to see 'Brave', it was great, highly recommended and on at Odeon Kids this week, so cheap too Smile

Clarella · 22/10/2012 15:05

Hi all - wedding anniversary today :) definately can't fit into that dress any more! and a much less organised brain!

Going to holy island for day on Thursday and then hospital tour in eve - hope we don't get stranded! A helicopter delivery would be fun!

I look stupidly small, and measurements seem to depend on who doing em! seem.to measure same cm as wks when I copy what mw does.

Pmgkt I'm only just starting to get hospital bag together at 35 wks today, so I wouldn't panic (if you are then I really will!)

CODwidow · 22/10/2012 16:03

Sorry of I've missed it but which pram did you go for in the end spotty ? I'm 32+5 today and I think I'm still not too big. I'm not that uncomfortable yet and still able to walk a whole day in town quite comfortably.

I'm half way through packing my bag but still don't have the industrial pads or knickers Grin that is my job for this weekend, must remember!
