Oh I gave a bottle of expressed once a night aswell from 1 wk, this time probably will give formula for it as won't have the luxury of extra time but would defo do it again, she never minded either and I had no trouble weening

LittlePickleHead · 09/10/2012 21:00

Oh I'm holding out hope for bf-ing this time kitty, your experience sounds great! Dd got day and night mixed up after our rocky start and fed hourly through the night at one point Sad I think I'll give a formula night feed from an earlier stage this time!

kittykatskumkwat · 09/10/2012 21:17

Little pickle, I had an amazing book, the only one I used called the sensational baby sleep plan, all to do with getting them to sleep through the night based on feeds through the day and a big day/night difference, it was my bible and I couldn't recommend it more, guarantees most babies to be sleeping 7-7 by 12wks no controlled crying or anything, if my dd woke I fed her and just put her straight back down, she has been a dream and that was even after 4weeks of the colic from hell!! It was persistence but paid off, I never felt cruel and it was really easy to follow and seemed more like common sence then anything waking them every 3 hrs in the day to feed and lots of cuddles ,contact, talking etc then the opposite at night, all of my friends have used it and all have had the same results bar a few only sleep till6ish in the morning but I was the only one who breast fed aswell. Good luck with it, she recommended the bottle feed aswel to stop them only wanting breast down the line

CheerfulYank · 09/10/2012 21:50

I would love to do better at breast feeding this time around too! Only managed two months last time. Formula is expensive, for starters!

wilderumpus · 09/10/2012 22:04

my friend's babies all breastfed and all slept through from really young... but mine didn't! I really hope the next one does sleep... but then again, babies are babies and I made it so better just get on with it! Grin

thank you for the recipe kitty! My mum makes amazing yorkshires too. I have always been like everyone's pet project cause I can cook, but I can't bake and i can't make yorkshires! Mine are always flat discs, with a burnt top. wtf.

poor beaver :(

after being a zombie all day my stupid brain has decide to wake up now. bah.

can I just ask... is anyone exercising?! I just can't - I walk DS to his childminder's three times a week which is a four miles a day on those days but UG the thought of going to the pool makes me feel exhausted. Is anyone still running/swimming/gym-ing?!

peardrop2 · 10/10/2012 06:29

wild I tried to swim last weekend and found it really uncomfortable. I don't know if it was because I was paranoid or what but all I could feel was a pulling sensation in my stomach. I'm going to ask the midwife about it on Thursday. I try and walk after lunch at work and that's about it. I brought a anti-natal DVD that I'm going to start using from 12 weeks, it just doesn't feel right to start using it now but again I'll ask the mw about timing on Thursday!

Does anyone know why I feel uncomfortable to sleep on my right? Anyone else feel the same?

I'm another who has a lovely shiny pregnancy exercise DVD still in the wrapper. Planning on starting soon as I do feel really unhealthy, but it's soooo hard to get the energy. I did go for a two hour bike ride on Saturday and was really pleased with myself, but then ended up having a bit of a funny turn afterwards (not faint, more terrible headache and feeling really sick). Midwife said to me to start exercise as soon as I feel up to it. Hope that's soon!

Oh and for those asking about whether ms gets worse, I've had all day nausea since 6 weeks, but actually threw up for the first time this morning. Joy!

RTchoke · 10/10/2012 08:35

I can't imagine exercising at the mo. I'm just so tired. I am hardly moving at all. And I'm eating loads of carbs having been lowcarbing for 6 months so I have put on 5 lbs :-(. I fear it could be albs or even 10 lbs before the end of the first trimester.

The guidelines say no weight gain is necessary in the first tri. Ha! I always pile it on in pregnancy though (er, 5 stone with DD1, but I lost 3 of that in the 48 hours that my waters went and I gave birth). Luckily I'm starting slim this time and all last winter's size 12 clothes are still loose so I don't need to move to maternity wear.

beaver33 · 10/10/2012 09:45

Morning all

I have thrown a sickie today - just feel awful and pukey. So am wrapped up on the sofa with peppermint tea and hoping that stays down...

cheerful am so glad your bleeding has stopped - great news. And I think the throwing up today is prob a very good sign.

Re exercise - impossible! Am normally pretty active and energetic but getting to work on the Tube these days involves gargantuan effort and leaves me shattered. Went for a wander round a museum and gardens at the weekend and had to come home for a lie down.

Hoping this won't last...

TerrorCottaPumpkinPie · 10/10/2012 10:00

Morning all :)

You've all been busy, took a while to catch up. All this food talk - you're all really really mean. Apart from whoever mentioned McDonalds fries everything you've said turns my stomach. And some of the things I really love. S'not fair. Hmmph.

No exercise happening here either. I'm barely managing the school run. Keep going for naps every time the baby goes down. Getting bog all done in the house which is really starting to get to me. I keep saying sorry to DP for being so useless and he tells me to shut up and not be so silly and to rest if I need to and he'll do what he can after work. He's so lovely Grin.

Got to nip to the MW tomorrow to get my bloods done (should have been done at my booking but previous appt had run over and as she'd not long seen me since DC3 was born I think I was the one she felt ok about asking to come back). I don't really mind as I have to be there with DC1 for a hospital appt anyway. Only thing I haven't quite worked out is whether DC1 will remember she's a MW as we're not telling the older two until 12 weeks like last time. I will find out tomorrow I guess!

One more thing - did you all get your prescription exemption stuff filled in at your booking? I didn't and I don't know if that because she was trying to make up time and forgot or because I still have one valid for another couple of months. And did you get Bounty pack stuff too? I did last time but not this one and it's not like it's really been that long between! I'll ask tomorrow anyway but thought I'd check here too.

Have a good day everyone.

LittleBairn · 10/10/2012 10:48

kitty that sounds like a great book will look it out. I'm interested in anything as long as it doesn't 'train' the baby.

The only exercise I'm doing is walking, I do a few miles a day usually because I don't drive. On my days off I try to at least walk for an hour, being that it's a hilly area it's quite a work out!

I'm soooo tired even though I fell asleep at 9pm and didn't get out of bed until 7:30am! Hmm

LittleBairn · 10/10/2012 10:50

Forgot I'm 8+1

wilderumpus · 10/10/2012 11:26

ah phew! am so glad you all feel the same as me! I don't think I could face walking to the pool atm, let alone swimming :) Also, I remember from holiday if I did too much it made me feel dreadful, sooooo sick and shaky. I think maybe our bodies are saying to us to do the opposite: sit still, sleep and eat and make a person! i normally get really antsy to go out if I haven't left the house by the afternoon but when DS had the pox last week I was so content just to stay in and veg out with him - for days!

Pulling and stretchy twinges sound like growing pains, like round ligament stretching. all good stuff.

I hope you have a nice day off beaver

off to make more hash browns for lunch. bloody want maccy dees again though. a MASSIVE one. Hmm

MooLL · 10/10/2012 12:22

Loving the food chat - although the only thing that now stops me feeling sick is halloween haribo's - on to packet number 2 of the day! ...

Good luck 10, you must be the first on this thread to have it x

TerrorCottaPumpkinPie · 10/10/2012 12:56

10 I'm sure it was my MW last time. And it was only last year I last had a booking appt. please tell me brain isn't that crap now that I can't remember anything!

Think there's been a fall out in recent years with the GP surgery I'm with as for DC2 MW appts were done at the surgery. Now they work out of a local hospital and a sure start centre. Might be why they do the exemption cert. would love to know the gossip on what went down!

I do remember it took a while to actually get hold of though. Don't forget anyone who has to get a prescription in the meantime to get a receipt. Then you can claim back the money from the pharmacy when your certificate does come in.

I remember last year the dentist was really nice about prescription charges. I hadn't had the certificate come yet but told them I was pregnant - only about 7 weeks - and they didn't bother charging me. I like nice people!

MooLL which haribo? I love tangfastics right now but anything else like that is hideous. Except Maoam. I like them too. I think it's the chewing action. Any excuse Grin

TerrorCottaPumpkinPie · 10/10/2012 12:58

Forgot to say:

Goodluck for tomorrow 10 :)

booboomonster · 10/10/2012 13:05

whoever mentioned tuna mayo is to blame for my feast of a lunch - tuna sweetcorn mayo on toast - thanks, cos it was very nice!! (sorry terror!)

no mat exemption here yet - not booking in until Sunday, so I guess I'll get it then. I did go to the dentist though at about 4 weeks and told them I was pg so didn't have to pay. I just had to sign for it.

I am still cycling into work - 3 days a week (it's about 12 miles per day). But apart from that, nada on the exercise front. I don't think cycling really counts for me as I have done it for years and years, and did it right up to 38 weeks last pg.

Meant to say milk, can you double barrel the surnames? I also had a friend who took part of each name and made a new one? Worth thinking about, though it wouldn't work with all names. I didn't change my name on marriage but as my DCs took DHs name (he had an older child already and we wanted them to all have the same name) so I changed my passport to double barrelled so that I have the same name as them if we go away without DH. It's complicated!

Hmm, I'm still hungry... I really can't have another slice of toast and tuna, or can I?....

booboomonster · 10/10/2012 13:06

oh and I am 8+6 today. good luck tomorrow 10!!

Good luck 10 ! I have joined the symptomless club today, nothing but tiredness but that's a little too wishy washy for me! I know I should be enjoying feeling OK, but the worry won't let me. Pregnancy is a crazy thing!
