Oh and thanks for the advice on stomach muscle tearing (sorry, forgot who it was Blush). Suppose it's just another 'well you're pregnant what do you expect?' things! My body would have had much less of a battering if we'd just bought a puppy.. LOL!

horseylady · 03/10/2012 17:52

Mm we did buy a puppy?!! Mines still taken a hammering lol!! Though I hope my fitness will help through labour like it has through pregnancy and so will also aid recovery?! Maybe?!

MissMummy1 · 03/10/2012 17:54

Haha I meant a puppy instead of a baby. In a joking way of course!! My 'puppy' is 5 now and is still a complete headcase. Hoping your theory on fitness works on me too, although it's not helped me much through pregnancy Sad

horseylady · 03/10/2012 18:03

Lol I know!! The big dog is 5 now the puppy 10months.....

Sure it will help!! Def helped me through pregnancy I think!!! Though I feel I'm becoming very lazy these last couple if weeks. Must do more!!

applepieinthesky · 03/10/2012 18:35

Lazy horsey? What the hell does that make me then? Grin I don't do a fraction of what you do.

Fucked off with DP and not sure if I'm being unreasonable and hormonal or if its justified. He put his Blackberry in the washing machine a couple of months back and broke it. Doh! Since then he has been using a cheapy payg but half the time he doesn't even have it on him.

A few times I have tried contacting him and found he has left it at home and it's virtually impossible to contact him. I gave him a major lecture about it last night and said if I try to contact him when I'm in labour and can't get hold of him, when he eventually turns up at the hospital I won't let him in. That part is perhaps unreasonable but I wanted to get through to him how important it is than I can call him when I need to.

Then today I got stuck in traffic on the way home and tried calling him to let him know I would be late. No response to my email, no answer on home phone and his mobile was switched off. I got home and was fuming Angry

applepieinthesky · 03/10/2012 18:38

*that I can call him

ValiumQueen · 03/10/2012 18:52

apple YANBU. He needs to be contactable.

Evilwater · 03/10/2012 19:41

A question for those that have been in labour before,
How do you measure a contraction?

I'm going Tao read back the thread.

Passmethecrisps · 03/10/2012 20:01

Evening lovely bump-chums.

More babies! How lovely garden. Fabulous weights and gorgeous names. Hopefully you get them home with your soon.

Yikes evil have you spoken to a doc? Could it be veins or something? I know nothing about such things but lumpiness sounds deeply unpleasant.

mm my yoga teacher was talking at length about muscle tearing. When your stomach seems to point when getting up off the sofa, put of be or something similar it means you have been overusing your muscles and they are starting to separate. I wish I had been told that months ago.

stunt could you have a viral infection? Whatever it is obviously needs you to rest.

35 weeks today. Very exciting. My work had a wee party for me today. It was lovely. Everyone brought delicious food and I got lovely pressies. Made me realise just how soon I go off. 2 more sleeps before the holidays and that's it! I am going to be frantic busy though as they still don't have a replacement for me. Suddenly everyone wants '5 minutes' of my time. It's like everyone has only just realised I am going and with no one prepped to take over people are a bit concerned. I am sure it will all be fine in the end.

I called my GP today. I was told that I would definitely be getting the whooping cough jag and to call next week to make sure they had supply in. He was quite happy for me to have it at the same time as the flu jag. All very reassuring. He said a couple of times that I would definitely get the jag. He wasn't worried about my contact with a person with whooping cough so all is good.

Was it YW who bought the waterproof bed mats from boots? I bought them as well one is on the bed already but I couldn't work out which way round to put it. I thought I would use one for the Moses basket as it seems the right size.

My goodness I am sleepy. Might be to do with the vast amounts f food I have eaten today. Those teachers sure can put on a party!

StuntNun · 03/10/2012 20:23

Pass I don't think I have an infection, I'm not running a temperature and I don't have a cold or anything. I'm just thirsty all the time; I had four glasses of water with my dinner and I'm still thirsty. I'm going to get one of the kids' ice lollies next. And with the tiredness I'm definitely getting lots of rest. It's come on suddenly though - I was fine on Monday but since yesterday it's constant tiredness/thirst/nausea. Confused

Hello all, evil hope you feel better, garden many congratulations, apple YA SO NBU! People with stomach muscles - ouch! I have none, seems amazing that state of lardy unfitness means less risk somehow!

Good day for me. Scan shows baby is well but big - estimated weight is already over 7lbs at 34+5! This is what DD weighed at 41+5! Have been told to expect a 9lber! ELCS now booked for 2 November - feeling really good about that decision and well supported by drs.

Week and a half left at work - have probably got to be one of only people dreading leaving. I love my job and going into work everyday. I like the people, my clients, the work. Hate the plans being made to cope without me - I would prefer to believe the world will stop turning. Will be very happy to go back next May. I do realise I am an oddity! But on the plus side, know that being at home for first 6 months is v beneficial for me and for baby, will get to spend more time with DH and DD, and will probably enjoy this mat leave more as know what to expect and DD's routine will give me the structure which I found lacking last time.

Re breast feeding - I struggled. Mixed feeding saved breastfeeding for me. Got me to 20 weeks as planned before I went back to work othewise it would have stopped at about week 3. I was relieved to give it up. Hopefully this time I have a better idea of what to expect and will be able to persevere through the tough bit, but expect to mix feed again. Firm believer in doing what works best for you!

Finall decided on a double buggy and bidding on second hand ones on eBay. All the clearing out and flogging being invested in a... ( drumroll ) Phil and Ted's sport inline thing. Will be different to mbeloved Maclaren but the side by side ones are too wide, and there are sensibly priced P&T's in good condition, so almost decision made by process of elimination.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 03/10/2012 20:28

Woah, mammoth post Blush

kissyfur · 03/10/2012 20:47

stunt might be an idea to go see the doc? Being that thirsty and tired all of a sudden doesn't sound right, unless you are just overdoing it, but then think you said you had lots of sleep last night and 2 naps? Probably just cos you're getting close to birth time but maybe best to get checked

kirrinIsland · 03/10/2012 20:49

Madam I bought a second hand P&T off bay, I've been using it as a single for a few weeks now and I love it! Wish I'd bought one sooner.

stunt have you spoken to your midwife? Doesn't sound like much fun :(
I'm really thirsty all the time, but no nausea or anything.

evil I honestly can't remember how I measured contractions but think you need the length from start to finish and the gap from the end of one to the start of the next? Hopefully someone cleverer than me will be along in a minute..

Evilwater · 03/10/2012 20:59

Every bloody time I pee, it kills. I can't wait to see the dr. Roll on tomorrow.
Evil

applepieinthesky · 03/10/2012 21:39

I hope they sort it out for you tomorrow evil

I noticed when I was having a bath tonight that my right ankle and lower leg are swollen. Should I call the mw tomorrow or wait until my appointment on Friday?

WaitingForMe · 03/10/2012 21:40

Congratulations garden

I wish someone had told me about the pointed stomach/muscle separating passme. I had just been thinking it slightly odd then promptly forgetting about it Sad

I've been told to measure contractions from the beginning of one to the beginning of another evil.

I'm feeling really needy tonight and DH is playing computer games. Last night we watched a film and he cuddled me throughout then made sure we went to bed early enough for me to chatter away at him. Oh and tonight he cooked dinner and loaded the dishwasher. I'm hardly neglected FFS!

kissyfur · 03/10/2012 21:49

Sounds horrid evil good luck at the doctors tomorrow

Me too waiting! Guess there isn't much we can do about them separating now? Or did the mw give you any advice about that passme? Guess there must be exercises you can do afterwards to fix it?

GTbaby · 03/10/2012 22:03

Two more days at work. Woop woop. Yet to catch up on all ur goings ons today, gona have a nice relaxing shower first. Be back later.

YellowWellies · 03/10/2012 22:13

Lovely GP rang tonight - there is a syringe of whooping couch vaccine waiting in the fridge for me when I go to the surgery for my MW appointment tomo. I didn't even have to ring and nag em - am v chuffed. Will try to line up the flu one for my next MW appointment. Let's hope the evil receptionist has got the message (is pitbull part of that job description for all GP receptionists?)

pikz · 03/10/2012 22:24

Congrats garden! Fantastic news! Beautiful names.

Just back from nct and struggling with really bad rib pain and for the first time in 8 months had to take paracetamol and got a heat patch on. Don't know how to get comfy :(

StuntNun · 03/10/2012 22:29

Apple my left ankle swells up if I walk any distance but has returned to normal the next morning so it is just fluid retention. If it stays swollen you need to get your blood pressure checked in case it is high.

garden congratulations!!! Yours girls are great weights, hope everything goes well with them

shelly they are brave women getting on the wrong side of you Grin

kissyfur · 03/10/2012 22:55

Nervous please don't be put off trying to BF by that awful programme! It might be really easy for you, but you won't know until you try Smile

kirrinIsland · 03/10/2012 23:12

nervous I didn't see that programme and I don't want to but I found BF'ing a doodle. I was a bit sore for the first few days, but that soon wore off and then it was fine. If you start with BF and it's not for you then that's fine - at least you'll know you gave it a go - but it would be a shame for you to be put off by a programme that sounds like it had a bit of an agenda.
