Glad you're safely installed in Paris manda- what a relief it must be to get your book handed in! Will you have any time to enjoy Paris whilst you're there?

stormy my ds was born at hull women's and children's hospital and it was a really positive experience. I was originally booked to have him at the (now defunct) Jubilee Centre but when it was discovered at the eleventh hour that I had severe preeclampsia (missed by my community mw in York- but that's another story!) I was blue-lighted to women's and children's. I had one to one care in labour and a lovely, large ensuite room for labouring. Post-natal care was a bit stretched, the staff were lovely but run off their feet so the breast feeding support wasn't great. However I had a nice, single ensuite room and every night and first thing in the morning they came around with hot chocolate and biccys I am easily pleased

sheild glad your scan went well. Sorry that dc didn't put your mind more at ease. My ds was really quiet in his twenty week scan and never kicked much,, the sonographer kept poking him to try and get him to move and in the end he just flipped us the bird and rolled over! He was a very passive and easy baby so it was worth the stress!

Hello to everyone else, apologies for not mentioning everyone but I'm on my phone!

Night All!

Lexiindisguise · 10/10/2012 23:11

shield glad to hear you got to see baby, I'm sure they were just having a snooze! :-)
Thanks to everyone for the presenting tips. Have started to prep outline and have roped in DH & a sympathetic colleague for practice runs. Really appreciate the help!
Excited but anxious about scan on Friday - has all come round quite fast!

Lexiindisguise · 10/10/2012 23:11

Oh and manda Woo Hoo for book handing in! :-)

Chefette · 11/10/2012 09:30

Am still alive folks just can't keep up with posting on phone, FB easier, am reading it all though!!! Big congrats, well dones, whoop whoops, yippees for all the good stuff that's happened and mega hugs for those with illness, worries, pain and struggles x sorry for not doing more. 20 wks today, scan in 6 days.

ThreeForTea · 11/10/2012 09:42

Congrats for halfway chefette!

Am having a guilty one today, dropped dd off before 8 dosed on calpol as she's a bit poorly. She was having a snuggle with childminder when I left her, hopefully will be ok :( Have just had so much time off sick myself feels like I'm hardly here anyway. No getting away from the guilt there it seems!

eigmum · 11/10/2012 10:26

Hello fellow march 2013 ers. Really enjoyed reading your posts. I am 17 weeks and resting as I had an amnio 24 hours ago. All very quick and painless just hoping all ok and taking it easy. Especially related to the puking stories, I 've been sick just about everywhere in London but its finally wearing off. Really really tired though, much more so than when I had my first. Hope all your scans go well.

StormyBrid · 11/10/2012 11:30

Finally caught up on everything! And cannot remember the contents of anything so cannot comment. I'm blaming pregnant brain.

Ethelred - I don't want to worry you, but did you know hoovering up spiders doesn't actually kill them? They just crawl out again later. And if I were a spider and someone had hoovered me up, when I escaped I'd be kind of annoyed and thinking about vengeance...
I'm actually in Hull; the Brid is my username is my name.

Em2010 - hot chocolate and biscuits do make the whole childbirth experience seem marginally less terrifying. I've heard quite a few people commenting that Hull Women and Children's is not as great as it could be for post-natal stuff though. Slightly worrying. Fingers crossed for an easy birth so I can escape straight afterwards!

So, this stupid incessant hormonal weeping thing: it does go away eventually, right? Because I'm sick to death of it already, and so's the man. So far the most ridiculous incident involved crying and flailing because lurpak spreadable is a total lie when it comes out of our fridge, and I couldn't make a sandwich, but I fear there is worse to come.

zoeymlucas · 11/10/2012 11:33

Morning everyone

Amanda I hope you enjoy Paris and get sometime to do things shop and can relax a bit that book is handed in

Jojo that sounds so cute with little man playing with his toes when my little bother was born he was obsessed with his hands and feet and used to spend hours in his cot just watching them and turning them - it was so cute to watch and made him very content! My little man always has his hands over his face in scan so think I might have a dramatic one!

Sheld I am sure baby is fine just very content and snoozing and when all our crazy little bouncing beans are born and are non stop and you have a sleeping angel we will ALL be very jealous

Three we have all played calpol roulette with our children so I wouldnt feel too guilty about it!

Well have had a mixed day today went to physio an her answer to my back/pelvis issues is maybe start using a wheelchair - thats not really a solution in my opinion I work upstaris with no lift and in all honesty feel useless enough that I cant do things let alone being in a wheelchair. On a good note my boss spoke to one of his accounting friends last night just in passing about work etc and when he told her how much I am doing etc she couldnt believe it and told him its not humanly possible and he needs to sort it so he has phoned in this morning asking if I would like another member of staff for a couple of days a week - UMMMM YES PLEASE!!!!

zoeymlucas · 11/10/2012 11:37

Stormy if it helps I am a weeping hormoal mess at them moment too my DH called me an idiot this morning over somethng really silly so i just stropped and went to work, as I went to door he asked where his kiss was and I burst into tears that he would get it when he treated me with respect and stormed out that sat in my car crying for 10 mins like a mad woman and then wept all the way to the office 40 mins and havent really spoken to anyone here today as am on the edge of just breaking down Hmm

Am really hoping this passes and soon!!

mandasand · 11/10/2012 11:45

Tramp v. sensible to pay someone to help out. Good luck preparing tomorrow's presentation! Really nice idea to go for a video so grandparents can feel included :-) Yes, Paris is a really bad place to be a pregnant vegetarian, hehe!

Em I have two days of conference (well, one and a half as I've come back to the hotel for the afternoon to write my paper!) Will skive Saturday morning too as it's my birthday and DH coming out to join tomorrow late eve Grin We will be tourists for two days - yippee!! We wanted a holiday before babies arrive and this will prob be it!

Lexi great progress on presentation prep and will be thinking of you at your scan tmrw!

Sorry to hear you've been so poorly eig and hope you feel better soon. rest up well after the amnio.

mandasand · 11/10/2012 11:48

X-posted Zoey! Those bloody hormones have a lot to answer for, don't they?! Big cheer for your boss! Sounds like he needed that suggestion - what a plonker not listening to you himself. Fantastic - that will make life a lot easier.

JoJoBella84 · 11/10/2012 11:53

stormy I'm a hull girl - though studying in York and moving to Aberdeen in January. My sister works at the HRI on the catering team so may well be bringing round the hot chocolate :)
zoey I once cried for two hours because I managed to get some porridge on the bin lid and my OH called me a scruffy urchin for not noticing. Love these hormones :) I wonder why the Physio suggested a wheelchair? Has she tried everything else? We wouldn't normally suggest such drastic measures especially as it would impact your work life so much - that said, wheelchair access would need to be sorted for you!
However, if things are getting unbearable it may be that you're going to make things worse with weight bearing?!
My little man was watching his fingers curl and stretch and was very lively!! Even did a big yawn to show us his top lip was fine and would we please stop prodding him and being nosey!!!

GummiberryJuice · 11/10/2012 11:55

Zoey great news about getting a helper at work, not so much the wheelchair though as you say not really a solution

Stormy I have to laugh I thought exactly the same when Ethel said about hoovering the spider, although I would be more afraid it would jump out at me when emptying the bag [eek] not scare you Ethel

Eigmum hello

Flowery I'm afraid I had the same problem while vommiting too, I'm seriously eyeing up the pelvic toner thing advertised on here.
dd2 (5) actually said to me the other day "You can walk and sneeze at the same time you know mum" LOL no I can't!

Manda enjoy Paris!

I'm 17 weeks today yeah and have a turnip sized baby! Cold is subsiding thankfully and Bambi I asked at surgery today they won't give jab if you are on antibiotics or have a temp, so snotty noses are fineSmile

Dameflamingo hope everything is ok?

Waves to everyone else, no hugs as I'm not getting accused of giving you all the cold!

GummiberryJuice · 11/10/2012 12:09

According to the stats we have 2 confirmed boys and 3 confirmed girls, is that right I thought we had more?

StormyBrid · 11/10/2012 12:20

Give it a couple of weeks and I expect we'll have lots more confirmed genders. Some of us are still waiting impatiently. Two weeks tomorrow for me!

I was complaining to the man that I was feeling fat and unattractive the other day. He called me mad, with a very fond smile. I cried for two hours. The dehydration headache afterwards was a killer.

I can confirm it is possible to walk and sneeze at the same time. Not shrieking in pain immediately afterwards is utterly impossible, however.

Hamnvik · 11/10/2012 12:36

Another one who's suffering with hormones, I spent most of the day at work yesterday near to tears then cried on DH when I got home. Roll on maternity leave I am actually counting down the weeks till I can leave work!

Glad everyone's scans have gone well, still 3 weeks to wait here and it feels like forever!!!

I'm having a hungry week so far, off to have some soup after having a bacon roll about half an hour ago, starving!

GummiberryJuice · 11/10/2012 12:36

Stormy I've 3 weeks to wait, but get to hear heartbeat next week, I hope, I wouldn't trust myself not to strangle someone if I don't Grin

StormyBrid · 11/10/2012 13:01

Yay for heartbeats! It's been three weeks since I last heard one. Not good when one's prone to paranoia about whether the baby's still alright in there.

And now I want a bacon sandwich!

Lexiindisguise · 11/10/2012 13:18

Hey ladies
I'm ill :( dizzy, throat like knives & stomach ache. Prob being hormonal but cross with all 'noble' colleagues who have been sniffling & coughing round the office over the last few weeks. Slept all morning but had nightmares about work!
zoey good that your boss has seen sense re:workload, may be worth getting a second opinion re:wheelchair?

TheAngelshavetheOod · 11/10/2012 13:26

zoey I assume that crutches are out due to the hypermobility?

zoeymlucas · 11/10/2012 13:29

Jojo I really think the wheel chair suggestion is her way of saying she dont know what else to suggest! As soon as I tell them about my 2 femerol osteotomies, I need my knee resurfaced, hypermobility syndrome they just tend to back off- she has refered my to my hip surgeon next week to see if he can help anything ! The previous 2 appointments has told me to buy a foam roller and gym ball to try and stop my back/hips locking as often and thats about it really and then said she dont want to do much as I am to high risk - but with back locking and hips I am slightly off balance so maybe the wheel chair was to stop me injuring myself if it gets worse I am a clumsy mare

That sounds awful Lexi hope you can stay snuggled in bed and get better soon - it is so annoying when people bring in germs and think they are a hero for working through it in fact all they are doing is infecting everyone!!

Glad to know my hormones arent the only ones going a little crazy right now :) I am on a hungry day have had a jacket potato with ham and cheese and now have some roast beef monster munch staring at me from my desk and a krispy kreme doughnut in my desk draw Grin

zoeymlucas · 11/10/2012 13:30

Angel I am on crutches most of the time anyway and have been for a while as need knee resurfaced but pregnancy has put it back not that i blinking want it

pinkpeony4 · 11/10/2012 13:48

I sadly haven't been able to sneeze or cough whilst walking since I was pregnant with ds2 Blush I have to stand still & clench as tightly as possible! Always far worse when pregnant too, bring on the tena lady!

Myjobis Maybe call your midwife to get checked. Hopefully it is just your bump growing but always better to be checked over.

Manda have a fabulous time in Paris. Yay to handing in your book!

Shield Glad all was well with your scan. I would like a placid one this time please & one that slept would be an amazing bonus. The first three were all terrible sleepers until about 12 months!

Lexi Good luck with your presentation.

Eigmum Hello! How was your amnio? When do you get the results? Rest & take care

Zoey I hope you don't end up needing a wheelchair. I can't even begin to imagine how hard that would be with a toddler to look after.

Three I hope your dd is better soon.

All good here. Sickness bugs seem to have cleared up thank goodness although my house still has a whiff of sick which isn't too pleasant! Absolutely knackered and have started to get heartburn & backache - oh the joys of pregnancy. My back was shocking during my last pregnancy so need to start seeing the Chiropractor asap I think.

I would love to come to a meet up but don't think I could take a whole day to do it. We are really busy at weekends until Christmas too which is a shame. Happy to come to a London one if you ever have one!

Good luck for any more scans. Any news from Dameflamingo?

panicnotanymore · 11/10/2012 14:26

Gummiberry - I was giving that pelvic toner thing serious consideration too. Oh the shame Grin!!!! For anyone still screaming in agony when sneezing, that does stop. At least it has for me. I think everything has moved up and settled down in there. Thank god.

Big hug to everyone who is having a hard time of it. I've been lucky, I'm actually enjoying being pregnant. The birth bit however will no doubt cause me to revisit that notion.

Sheldonella · 11/10/2012 14:29

Oh yuck, I think I have the same as you today Lexi you have my sympathy. I went home early yesterday with it.
Just popping in to say a quick hello. Dameflamingo Hope all is well.
