Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

roxoroxy I had a hugabub sling for DS but never really got on with it. He screamed every time he went in it for some reason. Also have an ergo baby carrier, which has been an amazing success. Probably used it more than the pram in the early days, and he still goes in it on my back now if we go hiking.

buggies I'm going to have a 29 month age gap, and was wondering if I'll need a double or not. Having asked friends with similar age gaps they have all ended up with a double at some point. I'm thinking baby in sling and toddler in buggy/baby in buggy toddler on buggy board will work for short journeys, but a double will be easier for longer walks. I like the look of the mountain buggy duet, which is very slimline for a side by side double. I tried pushing a Phil and teds the other day, but I have a weird body shape with long legs and short arms that meant I kept bashing my legs on the underneath seat!

Missmuffet28 · 17/10/2012 23:11

aufanaie with the buggy thing it's hard to know what to do for the best isn't it!! The actual puschair part (frame and seat) of my chosen buggy I'm not too worried about, to be fair I wouldn't have minded getting that second hand I guess but the carrycot accessory I intend using like a bed I suppose, nice few hour strolls maybe or quick pop to the shop babe falls asleep so leave in the carrycot type thing and surely that's the same as sleeping in a bed?! Someone mentioned quinny one wasn't suitable for overnight use, I did not know that but they didn't have one in for me to inspect does that include the new 2012 one think its now called the foldable or something? however I'm not too concerned about that have crib etc lined up for that :)
Car seats I thought was general knowledge forgive me if I'm wrong maybe just grown up with having to replace horse riding hats after every fall motorbike helmets after accidents etc etc i just have it drilled into me that anything in an accident gets replaced and was taught never to buy second hand safety gear unless you knew how to look for accident damage but if its coming from someone close I really don't think it's a problem having it second hand definitely saves a few pennies they are really quite expensive for their size and how long they're in use in my opinion!

Still yay for more nice scan news I love reading about the scans!!! Is there anyone left waiting to be scanned now? Just because I'm nosy!

See some people have been feeling poopy chin up chucks hope your feeling better soon!

I had a bit of a panick on this morning this may be TMI so skip this paragraph if you like! But I woke up early hours 5.10 I think it was for yup u guessed it a wee... Sat up and had some really sharp pains in my lower belly and a really bad ache down in the nether parts kinda like painful bruising so I was thinking bad things as you do, got to bathroom and then it came..... The damn wind!!! i was relieved (in more ways than one!) that's for sure but I've never had trapped wind quite like it! Maybe the way I was led or something!

Sorry my posts are always long I think I get carried away DP doesn't wish I had a mute button for no reason!!
I best go I'm being beckoned for snuggles hehe so I'm gonna go enjoy them

Still 14+1 Grin and no flutters as yet I don't think

edinfirst · 18/10/2012 03:47

Arg, awake at 3.45. Not good, love my sleep! I woke up about 3 having rolled over and lying really heavily on my tummy and now just feel really awkward and uncomfy. Yuck. Times like this when I think about how long we have still got to go I wonder how I'll cope. I totally know it'll all be worth it in the end but if I'm this uncomfy already...?

shomes · 18/10/2012 07:03

Hi all
So pleased for mamaand babe, hang on in there both of you, hope your family can stay strong for you. After my mac mumsnet was so supportive and just talking to other women who have had the same experiences made me realise just how much your not on your own.

Midwife tomorrow for 16 week check, am nervous as hell but hubby is moving o hopefully will be some support! Will update tomorrow x

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 18/10/2012 07:51

So I'm not the only one waking up in the middle of the night then? For the last couple of weeks I've been waking at around 4.00am and then can't get back to sleep. I'm so tired all day because of it. :(

tattooedapril87 · 18/10/2012 08:28

argh- all this buggy talk is freaking me out!!
hard to get advice from ppl due to fact needing double buggy for twins! (just starting to get head round that now!)

have next app (not scan) on 16th Nov- what are chances they'll try to find the heartbeat?

i thought id feel relaxed about whole pg after 12wk scan- but i feel like ave forgotten all about that now and will feel better after 20wks. am i alone?!

Missmuffet28 · 18/10/2012 08:57

Tattooed Definitely not alone!! I'm counting down mine already! I kinda know how you feel I couldn't wait to check everything was ok at the 12 week and yes great it seemed it was then you wake up next day and it starts all over again and every little niggle I get sends alert bells ringing I'm going to try and relax more it can't be good being up tight all the time but I have found this thread useful for getting things off your chest or asking things you wouldn't be brave enough to ask in RL. I can only imagine you feel twice as nervous? do you feel more at risk of things carrying twins do you think?
I have nothing useful to add to your pushchair comment I don't think I have ever even touched a double buggy! is there a twins group you can go along to before babies are born? I'm sure they would be more than willing to give you loads of advice

And flaminpanda think there's quite a few of us that are frequent night toileting! My times range from 3am to 5am and its so cold in my old house that when I step outside the duvet it's like jumping in cold water and I'm wide awake for a bit then hehe or if I'm really tired and can't be arsed I hold it but then it hurts and I wake up anyway doh!

JessieEssex · 18/10/2012 09:12

I'm another night waker - have always been, but it's worse at the moment. Doesn't help that my DH gets up at 5am to go swimming most mornings so that always wakes me up (if my bladder hasn't already!) Not helped last night by DD coughging on the monitor all night. YAWN!

I've also got my 16w appointment tomorrow and am really looking forward to it. I have been feeling quite a lot of movement so I know there's still someone in there!

One thing I want to ask the midwife is that I have a really wonky feeling tummy - if I lie down and feel where the uterus is, there's more on the right than the left if you see what I mean? Presumably the baby is hanging out on that side, but what if it's something else (this is my 'something to worry about' this week!)

Will also get the chance to ask about my papp-a levels and what that means.

JessieEssex · 18/10/2012 09:13

Whoops - also wanted to thank mama for updating us with her amazing news.

16+4

aufaniae · 18/10/2012 09:36

Here's a link to the April stats thread for our newest members, in case you haven't seen it.

91 on it, so the two pandas bring us to 93!

Missmuffet28 · 18/10/2012 09:37

Isn't the pressured bladder thing meant to start subsiding now until much later on? Or am I just making that up? If so I'm looking forward to the time!

aufaniae · 18/10/2012 09:48

Missmuffet I've stopped waking at 4am needing a wee, most nights now. But I do have to run to the toilet when I do wake up!

I'm still having night wakings though. Quite stressed at the moment though (a bit worried about a couple of things) so can't say if it's pregnancy or that, but it's unusual for me!

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 18/10/2012 09:50

i'm only waking to go at around 4.00 now, whereas a couple of weeks ago it was 3 or 4 times throughout the night.

aufaniae · 18/10/2012 09:54

PregnantPanda that's what I was like at the end last time! Fully expecting it to come back later on.

I hope the 4am wakings stop soon for you too, not much fun!

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 18/10/2012 09:57

I don't think it helps that I wake up so hungry I could eat my own arm. Thankfully that won't be necessary as I keep a box of crackers next to my bed.

Missmuffet28 · 18/10/2012 09:58

God I feel blessed that I've only woken up once a night maybe twice a couple of times!! Poor panda!

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 18/10/2012 10:04

I am lucky though because I don't have to contend with work. God knows how those of you working cope. I get to snooze on the sofa as much as I like during the day. Yesterday I closed my eyes for 5 minutes after lunch and didn't wake up until dinner time. :o

birdbrain17 · 18/10/2012 11:26

Until last week I was up half the night but not because of toilet trips I kept on having really weird dreams that woke me but now I'm so tired for not sleeping for so many weeks I'm sleeping straight through the night....
15+4

trying2bpos · 18/10/2012 12:33

yay caught up and actually have time to post.
twins and pandas hurrah!
mama you really astound me with your courage and bravery, hang in there, lots of positive thoughts winging your way.

double buggies argh! I will only have a 21 mo gap and although I like the idea of a sling and buggy board think realistically will need a double for some trips, I can get a rumble seat for my uppa baby vista but it doesn't recline and is quite close to the other baby seat DS seemed happy enough in it for the few mins we tried him in it in the shop. This is the second time though that John Lewis have told me to come back nearer my due date. I mean I know they've a point with regard to how well DS is walking how tall he is etc. but who wants to be picking pushchairs when heavily pregnant and if I want to look at them now why shouldn't I! Rant over, hormones anyone?

roxo we have a sling library in sheffield www.slinglibrary.org/ where you can register to loan them and try them out for a small fee I think, not tried it before but might this time. I also tried DS in a few at baby groups as most sling wearers very keen to convert everyone. Might be worth seeing if you have one near where you live as they can be pricey?

I am routinely waking up at 4am and have been for last few months. Now got the dreaded cold so having trouble breathing too. Did someone say using olbas oil (just bit on a tissue to sniff at night) was not recommended when pg? Can't really understand why but thought I'd read that in a post!

Final reassurance scan tomorrow, fingers crossed, think I'm feeling movements occassionally but not the fluttering and bubbling felt last time, move sort of ripply waves, any other non first timers having this too?

PS I want to move to sweden!

OP posts:
PandaWatch · 18/10/2012 13:13

That is amazing! I've heard how people are really looked after in Sweden. Obviously the taxes are so much higher but at least you get to see the benefit of it all!

Mama I've been following your progress on here. As others have said you are so so brave - you and your little one are true survivors! I wish you the very very best.

PandaWatch · 18/10/2012 13:15

Thanks for the link aufaniae - I've added myself to the list!

Nuttyfilly · 18/10/2012 14:08

Hello! I'm 13 + 3 weeks, I'm new on here,
I'm not so much a night weaker just a can never get to sleeper! Drives me nuts I just nod off as dp gets up at 4am, we're farmers, I'm shattered constantly, my last pregnancy seemed a breeze compared to this one,
Congratulations to everyone!

Nuttyfilly · 18/10/2012 14:08
  • waker, sorry stupid iPad
Missmuffet28 · 18/10/2012 14:37

Welcome nuttyfilly !

usernamegoeshere · 18/10/2012 16:06

Hi welcome!

mama so glad to read your update, you are being so brave I hope you have some good books to read at least while stuck in hospital.

I chased & chased the midwives, which was lucky since I had been completely forgotten about. They are going to telephone me on Monday with an appointment. Seems like I will be booking in & having 16 weeks appointment on same day but could always be worse.

I have a pathetic little worry though. By now the baby should have taste buds forming and so if I understand correctly, my diet will effect the taste of his amniotic fluid so its not researched much but I read that if I eat a lot of a food type it may grow up with a tendancy towards that food. I was completely into the idea that I will eat lots of vegtables, fish, fruit etc & avoid fatty sugary foods since I think that anything I can do to encourage healthy eating habits should be done as I really wish that I wasn't so averse to healthy food.

however, all I want to eat is sausages & donuts.
