Hi everyone. Had my flu jab yesterday and my arm is surprisingly very sore tonight.

James I think with DS I had the Boots emails which weren't too bad. I'll try MN ones this time I think.

I'm still not feeling too bad as long as I don't go longer than an hour without eating. Had to buy some emergency Hula Hoops at the tube station this morning!

Lady - that's really not what you need you poor thing :(

Sams4lo · 26/10/2012 08:08

MadameJ- can totally understand how u feel I had my dc4 at 34 weeks, and am very worried about this one :( my GP has referred me to the hospital to see the consultant ASAP, so am hoping I see her soon, to put my mind at rest! And due to see the midwife next week, so that will be my only appointment with one as the consultant loves seeing me lol x

Squidge123 · 26/10/2012 09:29

Madamej i had my dd at 33 weeks, 3lb 313, i had obstetric cholestasis , pre eclampsia and placenta abrution!! They kept a very close eye on me next time with ds and had the oc again and pre eclampsia so was induced at 37 weeks and had a big blood loss after givin birth, dont know why im doin this again!! x

SundaySunshine · 26/10/2012 09:31

james that's so funny!Grin of course we're all very familiar with squirrel testicles aren't we ~ is that email sent from Hicksville U S of A??

I've finally got an appointment to see a doctor, but only after terse words with the evil gatekeeper receptionist. Gosh, I'm far to impatient for this pregnancy lark.

Hope everyone else is feeling okay Smile

MadameJ · 26/10/2012 11:57

Thanks for sharing your stories ladies, there was no apparent reason for prem birth with my little lady but it really is all I think about. Im hoping that once I see the midwife I might feel a little better!!

RueDeWakening · 26/10/2012 12:43

MadamJ DS is a 31-weeker, but he is a triplet (only survivor) and 34 weeks is considered pretty much term gestation for triplets. He did spend 5 weeks in nicu though and was 3lbs8 at birth.

CollectorOfCookbooks · 26/10/2012 13:11

Well, my pleasant induction into morning sickness happened earlier this week when I had to stop on the way into work to throw up. Delightful. And now I'm panicking because my symptoms have eased off. I still have the sore boobs and tiredness, so fingers crossed. I've discovered water biscuits are best for me, so I might have to buy shares in Carr's!

Going to tell my parents this afternoon, should be interesting. When my SIL told them she was pregnant with no 2, they referred to it as 'her little dilemma' Hmm - and when I told them about my miscarriage in August the only thing they've ever said was 'how disappointing' - so I'm not expecting a great response.

According to babycenter at 7w it's the 'size of a tic tac and the weight of an eyelash' - not as much fun as a squirrel testicle I'll grant you, but slightly easier to imagine! I've signed up to the NHS emails and the MN ones - and have my copy of the MN guide to pregnancy.

12ylnon · 26/10/2012 13:24

Hello! Can i hop on? I'm due on the 3rd of june (hopefully) with my second (DS is 6, so massive age gap!). Have had a crappy week with a horrible stomach bug and then DS came down with chicken pox- hoping i'm immune, going for a blood test on monday. Pregnancy is so much fun...

HazleNutt · 26/10/2012 14:44

I think it's time to sign in here -
DC number 1 due around July 21st.

Had a chemical/early mc in September, but doc didn't say we should wait to try again, so we didn't and got the BFP right away. But not getting too excited yet. Had my first scan this morning and they could see the yolk sac, so at least there's something there. And have the next appointment hopefully showing the heartbeat in 3 weeks.

HazleNutt · 26/10/2012 15:10

June 21st it is, not July!

SunnyL · 26/10/2012 16:04

Hi All,
Can I join you all? I think I'm due in June next year. Hard to tell dates because I was on the pill until August which stopped my periods and my Dr has suggested I wait until 8 weeks before referring myself to the midwives.

First baby and very excited but also bricking it. Suffering quite a bit from nausea this week - thankfully I share an office with a 22yr old bloke who hasn't noticed all the crackers and gingernuts I've been chomping.

Sunbeam18 · 26/10/2012 17:33

Hi all
Finally got doc appt yesterday but feel bit annoyed as feel he made a bit much of my age (turned 40 last month) and the risk of Downs. It's still only 1% risk at this age, isn't it? I have my first midwife appt booked in for 15 November and scan date of 12 December. Have any of you had babies at around 40? Should I have the nuchal fold test? When do you have it and is it on NHS? Thanks

RueDeWakening · 26/10/2012 18:19

Hi Sunbeam - nuchal scans are standard in my area on the nhs, they're the standard 12 week dating scan and its included as part of it. Never had to decide whether to have it or not, it just happens!

flutterby123 · 26/10/2012 19:02

Hi guys,
I'm so jealous of you all and your midwife appointments! I phoned on Monday for mine and I'm still waiting to hear back from them. There is a bit of a baby (or should that be pregnancy?) boom going on in my area at the moment, so I think they're a bit overwhelmed.
Although I'm now 8-9 weeks pregnant and all I've seen is a GP who said "congratulations, go across and make an appointment with the midwives" (well, no he didn't, that's being a bit harsh, he discussed the likelihood of me having twins - family history, of baby having a club foot - again family history, and what to do if there is slapcheek at work - I work with children, and I've not been tested yet).
I'm just a bit worried that everything is being left a bit late though. I've confided in one friend who's a nurse and she's totally relaxed about that and telling me not to worry. At least when I get my appointment I'll get my scan very soon afterwards, and then we can TELL people. Honestly if I didn't have MN I think I would go mad and think that I was imagining it.
Also not able to eat much as feeling generally queasy much of the time (or every time I try to eat I feel queasy).

Sunbeam18 · 26/10/2012 19:08

Thanks Rue! That's reassuring!

nannyl · 26/10/2012 20:01

I had my midwife appointment today, and bloods done etc Smile

am 6+1 by LMP but i know im actually 5+5

got my home appointment booked for a week and halfs time.

am delighted as its the same wonderful community midwife who i saw for every single appointment last time (except for my actual homebirth as she was away on holiday then), and while last time, my homebirth plans were dismissed a little until near the end, this time it was bought up today, and did not dismiss my homebirth plan (all being well-ish of course) for 8 months time!!!!

She remembers me well lol Grin and it was less than a year since i saw her last!

nannyl · 26/10/2012 20:04

I am having the nuchal fold test on NHS (it was standard here last time too, but the reason i have it is to get a longer scan and more time to look at my baby)

regardless of the result i wont have an amnio, but here, we are only allowed an amnio on the NHS if the nuchal figure is under a certain number, so i wasnt eligable for one last time either (not that i would have had it even if i was)

DontSweatTheSmallStuff · 26/10/2012 22:17

Welcome to all the new joiners.

MadameJ - I had ds1 at 37wks and ds2 at 35wks so I'm abit worried this one might be early too. However I know a couple of people who had their dc1 really early and went on to have 2 more dc who were on time/overdue.

Sunbeam I'm having the nuchal scan this time. Didn't with ds1 and 2 but decided to this time as i'm over 40 now. It won't make any difference other than hopefully giving us a bit of piece of mind.

We're visiting mine and dh's parents over half term. It's going to be difficult not to let anything slip, especially as MIL usually provides wine on tap!

shockedminder · 26/10/2012 22:28

Evening all. Hope you are all well. Anyone else feeling absolutely SHATTERED all the time??!! I remember being tired with the other 2 but don't remember feeling this bad (although this was 4/5 years ago and then again 5 years previous to that!). I had my flu jab this morning then had a sleep later on this afternoon as luckily it's my day off (supposed to be my admin day but I simply couldn't face it!). I hope I don't feel this tired next week as with up to 7 children all day every day (half term), it's tiring enough without being pregnant!! Wow, that's still odd to say that word, never thought I'd end up having a 3rd!!

Anyway, good luck for all of those having appointments and scans shortly.

nannyl - I was also really pleased that my midwife is the same one I had for my previous pregnancies. Although she wasn't there throughout my home birth, she arrived as I was pushing and revived him when he wasn't breathing when he came out - she was fab! She was very up for the home birth last time and the first question this time was am I having another home birth - too right I said! :) The only issue I have is that this midwife isn't available on Fridays but another is and I may end up having to switch to that as don't want to be bringing 3 little ones to my appointments each time. (by the way, it's 'looney' in case you wondered - I just don't want to type anything under my name in case someone finds me on this in a thread search or something Wink)

Anyone else struggling with clothes already? I remember I did with ds2 so guess it was bound to only get worse but I really don't want to be in maternity clothes just yet but also can't afford to just go and buy any clothes to keep me going a little longer when i should have a bag of stuff in the loft I can use. Unfortunately being a childminder, I get through lots of clothes due to getting covered in paint, playdoh, food, snot, etc!

nannyl · 26/10/2012 22:37

yay shockedminder another homebirther Smile

I wonder if there are anymore?

I have a good friend who is a midwife, and i really really really hope she will be here for number 2. (she was 39+++ when i gave birth to DD1!)

shockedminder · 26/10/2012 22:48

Oh that would be great to have a good friend there, fingers crossed for you! I just hope I get this midwife again for at least part of it. I loved it last time, hated birth number 1 which was in hospital but was so much more relaxed at home. And as I didn't end up actually giving birth in the pool in the end, ds1 ended up splashing around in it with armbands on his wrists and ankles and nothing else on, was so funny and surreal to sit on the sofa with my brand new baby in my arms with ds1 in front of me acting like he was outdoors on holiday! Grin

PseudoBadger · 27/10/2012 07:33

Constipation anyone? Bleurgh.

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 27/10/2012 07:56

flutterby if it makes you feel better...my booking in appointment isn't until I'm 13
weeks pregnant and then my scan is the day after. Edinburgh is obviously very busy too.

MadameJ · 27/10/2012 08:29

Pseudobadger, not constipation but terrible trapped wind at night. Pregnancy really is delightfull [hgrin]

Dillydollydaydream · 27/10/2012 08:40

I'm 8 weeks now so I'd better ring about a booking in appointment next week? Still feeling very sick all day but I wasn't sick at all when I was pregnant last time before I mc so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

My last baby was born at home, supposed to have been a planned homebirth but he was delivered by paramedics as the MW took too long to get to me! That was pretty scary as dh works an hour away and he didn't make it home either! So it was me and DCs 6 & 3 yrs at home, I couldn't move off the living room floor and my 6yr old couldn't get the door unlocked. I hope labour is longer this time! (Not often people say that). :)

Won't be long before the 12 week scans start happening. Hope everyone is well.
